Rustic family mountain home - 5 min walk to town!

KildaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
It’s was a wonderful stay for me and my family. The location and cabin matched perfectly to the expectations we had while visiting of El Valle de Anton. A peaceful place with an interesting family story, made us feel right at home. My family is numerous so, space and comfort is something we value the most. Actually, the house and property are bigger than it’s shown in pictures. That was a nice surprise! The host Vanessa was very helpful and communicative during the whole stay. We’re definitely recommending it to our friends and family and we’ll be looking forward to go back soon.

Renewed / Make yourself at Home / Enjoy

An excellent place to spend a family vacation, 100% recommended. Everything is very clean, tidy and in excellent condition. If you are, like me, of those chasing the mosquitoes I recommend to be away from the house after 6pm. I think it was by the rainy season.

Open Living, Lush Garden, 3 Min to Beach, AC&TV

RonjaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Staying with Alli and Sergio was perfect! We stayed at this place for 8 nights. We also spent a whole day in the house. The lower living area is open plan, making you feel like you're in the jungle and at home at the same time. The equipment of the apartment is outstanding. Everything has been thought of and beyond. There was a breakfast for the first day and coffee and milk for all days. Particularly noteworthy is the in-house water filter system, so no drinking water has to be bought. But what made the stay the most excellent was the hospitality of Alli and Sergio. We got the best tips and recommendations for the area, trips and restaurants. Alli was always easy to reach and proactively helped us in every location. Thanks for the time!

Casa del Mar - eco aqua villa

NaomiRating, 5 stars6 months ago
This is one of the most beautiful and tranquil Airbnb's we've ever visited. The house itself is truly stunning wood and architecture, and eating all your meals outside at a gorgeous table on top of the water is just a once in a lifetime experience. Add in the kindness and support of the team and it makes for a magical Airbnb. We appreciated Jose's pick up, help grocery shopping/delivery, trips on the boat to the chocolate farm, zapatillos, coral key. Jose-Maria's amazing cooking 3 dinners. And of course sloth hunting and coconuts in the back yard. It's incredible to wake up and paddle board outside your bedroom, then have a breakfast on the water. My ONLY thing to warn about is the insects. Not just the noceeums, we had one night where despite us all wearing bug spray we were covered up by mosquitos. I ended up with over 30 bites one night and my kids too! There are screens in the bedrooms but if you leave doors open for circulation (no AC!) you may have some tricky mosquito times!

Oceanfront luxe Aframe Casita

Angela & IanRating, 5 stars2 months ago
We loved this tiny house on the beach! The space felt private, safe, and as described it is just steps from a mostly private beach, and yet hidden in a tropical garden. We slept like babies, the bed was comfortable and the sound of the ocean lulled me to sleep every night. The kitchen has everything you need in terms of pots, pans, and utensils. We brought plenty of groceries that we purchased in Chitre, but there were also several good restaurants along the beach. Katja's co-host, Branden, was very proactive in helping us find our way through Panama to this little hidden gem, in recommending small tours, and was helpful when we had problems with our rental car (thank you, Branden!). I hope we can come back someday!

A Remote Paradise in nature - Ocean View

TimRating, 5 stars6 months ago
Dennis was a stellar host. His casita at the Panamanian coast is stylish, beautiful and very comfortable. The remoteness of the location was perfect for relaxing but not so remote we couldn't go out to dinner in nearby Venao at wonderful restaurant that Dennis recommended. I fell in love with his dog Sasha and loved taking her for a walk to the beach. Dennis is onsite in the main house only steps away but managed to strike the perfect balance between available and offering privacy. We took him up on the option to have him cook dinner one night and enjoyed spending a couple of hours with him drinking wine and eating a delicious meal on the terrace while the sun set over the ocean. The directions Dennis provided to get to his home were clear and explicit - the dirt road off the main road is long and hilly, and one should heed his advice to have a 4x4 vehicle during the rainy season. We had a 2 wheel drive smallish SUV and were fine in early April. One of the best AirBnBs I've rented.

Your guide to Panama

All About Panama

A narrow isthmus on the southern tip of Central America, Panama is the cultural gateway to South America and the geographical gateway between the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. Panama City, its stunning capital city, juxtaposes old-quarter Casco Viejo against the shiny, soaring skyscrapers of the modern district — all surrounded by rolling green hills and vast blue ocean studded with tiny islands. The Metropolitan Natural Park, a wildlife refuge threaded through with hiking trails, is just 10 minutes away from downtown. And Taboga Island, a volcanic enclave featuring a rich array of plants as well as white-sand beaches, is easily reachable via a 30-minute ferry ride.

The terrain rises dramatically from white-sand Caribbean beaches to lush mountain jungles. Near the top of the country, altitude-wise, you’ll find Boquete, home to world-renowned coffee plantations, and the Quetzal Trail, one of Panama’s most scenic hiking trails. Leaving from Volcan Baru National Park, it passes through the Talamanca Mountain Range, where you’ll discover rare tropical wildlife including spider monkeys, tapir, and brightly colored frogs.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Panama

The lovely tropical climate makes the prospect of securing a vacation rental in Panama appealing all year long. The drier winter months are ideal for hitting the country’s hiking trails or visiting the beaches. Many of the country’s most significant religious festivals, including Carnaval and Semana Santa (Holy Week), occur in March and April. You’ll want to keep this in mind when booking your Panama house rental if you are headed to a city that hosts a big celebration.

Once Panama’s rainy season starts in May, the sunshine is interrupted with short bursts of heavy rain. It is also usually the quietest time of year for tourism, and you may find yourself alone in the country’s national parks or beaches. That all changes, of course, after the rainy season finishes in November and gorgeous, sunny weather returns.

Top things to do in Panama

Casco Viejo

As the oldest part of Panama City, settled in 1673, Casco Viejo is filled with beautifully restored French and Spanish-style buildings, with a touch of art deco flair. As you stroll down the cobblestone streets, past pastel-colored buildings housing trendy restaurants, upscale bars, and inviting coffee shops, time seems to shimmer between the 19th and 21st centuries. Explore the neighborhood during the day; return after dark for its lively nightlife.

Panama Canal

When the 51-mile Panama Canal opened in 1914, it provided a waterway through Central America and reduced the traveling distance between the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean by 8,000 miles. The impact that this had on global commerce is hard to underestimate. The Pacific mouth of the canal is 26 miles outside Panama City, making it easy to visit this engineering marvel and watch as enormous ships rise and descend through a series of locks.

Bocas Del Toro

Lying close to the border of Costa Rica, this collection of islands is Panama's most popular beach destination. Largely undeveloped, the islands are home to lush tropical rainforest. Great snorkeling and diving opportunities abound in the Isla Bastimentos National Park, which is home to a wide variety of Caribbean coral species as well as (gentle) nurse sharks, crab, and stingrays.
