Any trip to the V&A is special, in my book, but to also have a history of fashion tour guide who is not only a tailor but makes his own clothes and specifically wears clothing only from the Regency era, sends the experience into the sublime. Zack is an expert in historical clothing and was able to walk us through how the clothes were made as well as why certain things were more fashionable or practical. I was surprised how many assumptions which we make about things such as why beds were short, historical hygiene, and how metallic thread is made, are completely wrong. After the museum, you will be treated to afternoon tea where you will have a chance to not only ask all your questions, but also examine garments which are over 200 years old. It's one of the highlights of my 15 years living in London.
