Community policy

Welcoming individuals with accessibility needs

The Airbnb community is built on the principles of inclusion, belonging, and respect. This includes welcoming and supporting people with disabilities and accessibility needs in all offerings on our platform.

  • Service Animals and Emotional Support Animals: Except in limited circumstances, hosts are required to accept Service Animals even if they don’t accept pets. Emotional Support Animals also must be accepted in the jurisdictions described in our Accessibility Policy and anywhere else applicable law requires it.

  • Homes with accessibility features: Many guests search for accessibility features. To welcome even more guests, hosts can highlight accessibility features of their place in their listing (such as step-free access and showers or disabled parking spots) and provide guests with critical information that enables guests to make informed decisions about whether a place is suitable for them. Guests have the option to filter search results by any combination of the accessibility features.

  • Experiences and services with accessibility features: Hosts can highlight a variety of mobility, communication, and sensory-related features of their listing that may enable the participation of guests with accessibility needs. From the physical accessibility of the location, to whether sign language communication is an option, to whether guests can have a designated sight guide, giving your guest information about these features communicates valuable information that informs their booking decision. Similar to homes, guests can filter their search results by accessibility features to find a service or experience that works for them.

  • Digital accessibility: We demonstrate our commitment to the digital accessibility of our website and app in three core ways:
    • Cross-functional dedicated teams of engineers, designers, and technical program managers that focus on building products that everyone can use
    • Efforts to follow standards of development laid out by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines
    • Research conducted with people with accessibility needs whose expertise and lived experiences influence product developments and improvements

Nondiscrimination Policy

Under our Nondiscrimination Policy, hosts can’t treat members of the Airbnb community differently or deny service to someone because of their protected characteristics, including disability. Learn more about our Nondiscrimination Policy, including how to report a concern.

Enforcing these policies

If we determine that any community member violated our policies, we take appropriate action, including educating users on our policies, issuing warnings, suspending or removing listings, or suspending or removing the violating accounts.
