We had a pleasant 2-night, 3-day stay with a very warm owner. It was nice to have a lot of manga in the room!Because I love manga. It even comes with breakfast, and it's delicious! My companion was a picky eater, so when I told them that they couldn't eat much, they made it smaller and focused on drinks... the attention was wonderful.I was also happy to have a book that summarized the tourist destinations in Aizu Wakamatsu

A house that feels like returning to a nostalgic hometown

JohnnyRating, 5 stars2 months ago
I have to say that this is the highlight of this trip in Japan. Mitsuru san friendly welcomed me even I arrived early in the morning. He introduced his house and how he enjoyed his life living in country side. After some discussion, we decided to go somewhere deep inside the mountain that foregine travellers could hardly found. We had a delicious lunch and went to take a bath in an onsen that a solo traveller relying on pulic transport like me can never reach. What really inspires me is our conversation during the drive in his car which was so fruitful and informative ( I can only speak poor Japanese, but Mitsuru san would listen and gradually explain to me by his fluent English), which helps me to understand more in local life and culture. I have to express my deepest gratitude to Mitsue san(Mitsuru san's wife) for making a fascinating dinner using local food for me. I would greatly recommend here to travellers seeking for a closer experience in Japan countryside lifestyle !

Nyok Peng was such a wonderful host! She actually encouraged us to take the later train so we could enjoy the cherry blossoms longer, so thoughtful! Then she picked us up from the station. The place was just like in the listing: cozy, clean, and comfortable. In the morning, she made a delicious homemade breakfast for us and the other guests, and then kindly drove us back to the station. Just a heads-up, the house is a little outside Hirosaki, but for one night during peak cherry blossom season, it was totally worth it.

Central area in Hanawa. Clean and Friendly house

Maki-san's place was perfect for our stay. Thr Japanese room is large and the futons and bedding super comfy. It's also conveniently located next to two konbinis, one launderette and several delicious restaurants. We were even able to park our (small) car right by the entrance and check in independently. We couldn't have asked for more or better. We would recommend this to anyone wanting to visit the region.
A two-story wooden structure is showcased under a clear blue sky. The building features a prominent overhang, with a partially sheltered parking area below. Surrounding greenery adds to the natural ambiance, and the area appears well-maintained, inviting exploration.

We had a very pleasant stay with Yakuso. The host was extremely friendly and accommodating towards our ignorance when it came to Japanese food. The accommodation is simple, but has everything you need, similar to a Ryokan, yet more simple. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for a Japanese experience.
The entrance of the Tanuki building is showcased, featuring a wooden sign displaying the name 'tanuki' and directional signage for various amenities. Snow accumulates at the base of the entrance, with soft winter light visible through the glass door, indicating warmth within.

Tanuki Nozawa Superior Family Room (203)

AndyRating, 5 stars100 months ago
Yumi and Brad have turned a tired hotel into a great little place that offers Western style service while maintaining the charm of small mountain village family inn. Room was Japanese style with a big queen size bed. Could easily sleep 5 people making the value very good. Breakfast was simple but filling. Great little bar downstairs with live music 3 nights a week. The best part of Yumi's place is the location. Right smack in the center of town. Not a lot to do, but it's a great place for a few days. Oh. And the skiing is world class! Just a short walk to the people mover and the hill is yours. Hit the hot spring baths around town after a ski and you will know why Japan is so magical! I'll be back!

Michiko and Miho's place is wonderful. it's essentially a snowboarding hostel run by the family, and has all the charm you could ask for. every breakfast and dinner is prepared, and is AMAZING. everyone gathers in the cafeteria, and after all the guests are fed, the family and staff all eat together. it all feels extremely genuine and unique, especially because it's primarily Japanese guests who stay there. they even provided rental gear, and arranged a ride to nozawa with a resident snowboarding instructor. I'd recommend this stay to anyone looking for a unique and wholesome excursion out of the major cities.
A charming guest house is shown, featuring a classic design with dark wood accents and white trim. Snow blankets the surrounding landscape, enhancing the cozy ambiance created by warm lights shining through the windows.
