Two puffins are perched on a grassy hillside, surrounded by vibrant green moss. Their distinct black and white plumage contrasts with the lush foliage, and their orange beaks add a touch of color to the natural setting.

Driftwood Cottage

Scott MichaelRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We had a wonderful week at Driftwood. This is a delightful cottage, striking in design and very well equipped, but with a strong history evident in the building and the photos and artefacts displayed inside. Possibly unusually in early summer, we were able to make good use of the pretty outdoor spaces. But when the wind blows, the cottage provides a warm and inviting shelter with great views across the fields and the sea. The cottage is very well positioned for exploring south Shetland and its magnificent archaeology and coastline. Our hosts were very helpful and responsive.

A lively harbor scene shows multiple fishing boats docked along the water's edge, with colorful hulls and buoys. Behind the boats, a collection of residential buildings is visible, with some featuring red rooftops, creating a charming coastal atmosphere. The sky features a few clouds and sunlight.

A serene shoreline is depicted with a smooth, sandy beach leading to calm waters. Grass-covered dunes line the edge of the beach, and gentle waves lap at the shoreline. The distant hills create a tranquil backdrop under a partly cloudy sky.

Mavine Cottage, Lerwick, Shetland

KarenRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
What a wonderful place Maxine cottage is and what lovely a lovely host Lois is. The cottage is easily walkable into Lerwick in 25 mins and yet it is on a quiet secluded sheltered promontory. The views of the bay are wonderful from the cottage. We had wonderful weather sun but of course some wind yet everyday I was able to sit in the beautiful sheltered small garden and enjoy the sun. Shetland is stunning and everyday of our week there we were able to go out and enjoy walking bird watching and just drifting around looking at everything we could find. Then every evening we could return to the lovely warm cottage to relax. Lois was always responsive and very helpful to us including flexible check in and out. Would recommend to anyone wanting a central base on mainland

Town Centre Apartment Fort Charlotte Ground Floor

JamesRating, 5 stars7 months ago
beautiful 3 double bed apartment. Spacious, spotlessly clean with everything you would need contained within. A real home from home. the location was fantastic. Central and everything within walking distance. We hired a car to explore the island and get us to and from the airport. Ample parking on the road outside the flat. Carina, our host, popped in on our arrival to welcome us and was very helpful with her local knowledge on good places to go. Our three day visit was a great break and we all thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Shetland and couldn't have picked a better place to stay. 10 out of 10!

A stone structure stands against a serene body of water, reflecting soft morning light. Bare branches frame the image, with hints of frost visible on the grass and surface. A wooden fence leads toward the water, creating a peaceful outdoor setting.

Coastal retreat with beach and woodland garden

DavidRating, 5 stars47 months ago
A very spacious, discrete, comfortable and well equipped home, optimally placed to explore the full extent of the islands. The nearby CoOp and garage in Brae have all the supplies you need. Fresh mussels and scallops available daily from the shellfish farm across the bay. Amazing wildlife, including otters on the lawn. Nikita is a super host, very supportive with good ideas, such as where to spot Orcas. The nearby Brae hotel does good dinners. Thoroughly recommend staying as long as you can to enjoy a special place, people and wildlife in the British Isles. Thanks Nikita!
