The hall and its surrounding 12-acre gardens are located on the Norfolk-Suffolk border. Lord and Lady Somerleyton open their gardens to the public from Easter to October. Somerleyton Hall Gardens is home to one of the finest yew hedge mazes in Britain, planted in 1846. The route out is around 800 yards from the centre if you don't go wrong!. A walled garden features beautiful iron and glass greenhouses designed by Joseph Paxton. For families in addition to the maze, is a new kids play area for younger children situated in a new jungle garden. There is also a new garden trail to find hidden letters. A plant nursery has opened, new borders planted showcasing many rare and unusual shrubs and hostas. The kitchen garden has been renovated as has the rose garden. The arboretum has several county champions. Picnics are allowed.
