Places to stay in Pointe au Baril
PLEASE READ THE REVIEWS! This is a studio cabin in beautiful Pointe au Baril., famous for it’s great natural beauty, and fishing!!! The cabin is a drive to, with parking. It is also accessible by boat. Dock at property, shared with my other cottage. It is expected that whoever rents here, be courteous to your neighbours. Per friendly, if your pet is well- behaved, and is under control.
The property used to be owned by a trophy Muskie fisherman, and a couple of tv fishing shows were filmed, starting out from here. If you fish, maybe the vibes will bring you luck. I do know, that many, many many fisherman have sat within these walls, sharing stories about the ones that didn’t get away!
The village of Pointe au Baril, which includes a Nursing Station, Community Centre, multiple Marinas, Home Hardware store, gas station and LCBO, are close by, a couple of minutes, by either car or boat.
  • Heather is an amazing host who was extremely helpful and great to communicate with. I had hurt my knee a few days before coming and Heather graciously upgraded my accommodations so I would not have to negotiate stairs. The place is a bit older, as described, but beautifully decorated and has all the comforts of home, and many more. Imagine it as described, then multiply times 10 and that is what you get! The decor is wonderful, the location is beautiful. The amenities are more than what you would even think you need. I enjoyed sitting on the dock the to watch the sunset. The fall colours were great, and just enjoyed relaxing, watching the boats going up and down, the ducks, chipmunks and birds. I also took a pet, who also enjoyed her time there. Heather is the absolute best! Thanks for a beautiful, relaxing time.

  • Heather's cabin is just as advertised, it's clean and cozy for 2-3 people. It is well equipped and a picturesque setting. Nice patio to enjoy a cuppa in the morning while listening to the birds. Great value for the price. We will definitely be back in the future!

  • Thank you Heather. Exceptional hospitality and sparkling, I can say 5 stars, accommodation with beautifull view and location. We really enjoy nature and amazing sunset from our deck. Definitely place where we would like to come back. Thanks.

  • We love the overall ambiance of Heather's charming cabin. A nature haven and yet it comes with all the basic amenities of modern living. The location is ideal, easily accessible from a major highway, yet you'd have that relaxing, get-away feel as soon as you step unto the property. Heather is a very warm, thoughtful, gracious host - she made sure our stay was comfortable, enjoyable, and the special touches she provided in her rental made for a lovely time all around.

  • Great cottage . Lovely space . Plenty of room . Very clean cottage . Comfy beds . Would rent again without question

    Marko2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage, location, and facilities are so great, I’m afraid if I write an accurate review regarding how awesome it is, it will always be rented out and we’ll never be able to enjoy it again... For a large or small group with excellent road and water access to the PaB area, this cottage is an excellent option. Julie is very responsive and accommodating. The cottage itself has recently been and very tastefully renovated and the beds are terrific. Group of 9 stayed comfortably and with adequate space and amenities. Thanks Julie!!!

    Jeff2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We really loved our stay here. The cottage itself is newly renovated and it looks beautiful and is super comfortable in so many ways (amazing beds, comfy couch, kitchen has good quality appliances and cookware). Great deck for sitting out and enjoying the days and nights. Location is perfect too particularly if you want somewhere close off the highway and with easy water access to Georgian Bay. The hosts were super responsive with questions before travelling as well. Hope to get back some time!

    The Archipelago, ON, Canada

An island retreat, ideal for nature-loving couples. A very private sleeping cabin on the point of an island with a private deck, swimming dock & canoe. Located in BAYFIELD INLET in the magical Archipelago of Georgian Bay, enjoy the comforts of modern life in the remote beauty of unspoiled nature. Windswept white pines, glistening bedrock & fabulous sunsets/sunrises. Get away from it all & recharge in nature. ***NOTE: Parking & boat transportation to island are included in the fee.***
This is truly a remote island, perfect for experiencing the beauty of nature. Activities include swimming in the pristine water, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, photography, reading, sleeping in the hammock and star gazing. THE NORTH CABIN The North Cabin is a rustic, double A-Frame sleeping cabin. Bright and airy, it sits on the point of a peninsula with beautiful views to the north and east - you can watch the sunrise from your bed. It also has a wood-burning fireplace and a skylight. The front door leads to a very private zone, with your own deck and dock, a pair of Muskoka chairs and a campfire spot. The back door faces the courtyard in the centre of the island which connects to the main cabin. THE MAIN CABIN IS ACCESSIBLE TO GUESTS 24 HOURS A DAY. The Main cabin is the communal space located in the centre of the island, a short 50 steps from the North Cabin. This rustic A-Frame was built by hand in the 1950's and has the amenities of modern life. There is a kitchen (with 2 fridges), a 4-piece bathroom, a screened-in dining area, patio deck, living room and laundry facilities. There is a monitor in the living room for video/DVD viewing & a sound system. There is good cellular reception on the island. Your hosts have their own private sleeping cabin. There is tiny Studio cabin off the dining deck which includes a library of books, videos, puzzles, cards and games for those rainy days. Blueberry picking time is late July into August. There are only a few neighbouring cottages in the area, all at a distance, so it is very quiet and peaceful.
This is a remote island in the archipelago of Georgian Bay. Rocks, towering pine trees, moss and ferns surround us. There is a camp store at the marina (for any last-minute items before the boat ride out to the island). Pointe au Baril offers a small grocery/hardware store, gas station, bait shop and LCBO. Big shopping should be done ahead of time in Parry Sound, which has all amenities.
  • Really wonderful at this unique place on this island. Best for relaxing, swimming, sport and having a great time. Liz and Peter are so nice and helpful. Totally recommended!

    Richard2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful island! The A frame was so cozy! It rained one day and it was actually awesome because it made lovely sounds on the roof. We even got a glimpse of the black bear! ❤️ Also there were tons of lovely blue jays.

    Elizabeth2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • So yes, a visit to the washroom required stepping outside or taking a 20-m trek to the main cabin. It took me less than a few hours to realize how unimportant such a technicality really was. What I will remember most fondly from my stay at Liz and Peter's place is the family atmosphere they so naturally welcomed me into, with a little help from their lovely neighbours and a couple of visiting friends. There were delicious common meals, discussions on all possible topics, useful advice and assistance regarding water activities, and the companionship I will never forget. Let me be clear - I could have had all the undisturbed privacy I might have wished, but I chose not to. All that in addition to some of the most amazing kayaking and swimming I'd done in my life, within the truly indescribable scenery of The Archipelago. And how many island hosts provide boat transportation to and from the cottage? Thank you for everything, Liz and Peter.

    Marek2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • This place is magic! Adorable cosy accommodation and spectacular outdoor surrounds. I almost don’t want to spread the word in case they get too busy for me :) You will not find a place closer to the wild beauty of Georgian Bay (other than camping). Liz and Pete are wonderful hosts to boot. Highly recommend!

    Holly2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • A little taste of paradise! The guest house we stayed in was a generous sized A-frame with everything you could need in one place. We swam off our own private dock and kayaked and canoed around the rocky Georgian Bay islands. Liz and Peter were very helpful with anything we needed and gave us ample space to feel like we were on our own little island. Enjoy your summer vacation here!

    Alora2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Liz & Peter were the most wonderful hosts you could ask for. Kind, funny, organized and communicative. The cabin is so cozy and exactly as advertised, they've put a lot of care and attention into the space. As per previous reviews, they are so respectful of privacy and happy to leave you to it but when asked are very attentive, caring, and incredibly generous. On our last morning they made us blueberry pancakes we'll never forget. The island is beautiful, great way to see a very quiet and uniquely Canadian part of the world. Many thanks to our wonderful hosts!

    Sara2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Liz and Peter's property is a haven for nature lovers. My wife and I absolutely loved our time there and were spoilt by the warm hospitality. We felt like we had the entire place to ourselves and spent perfect days swimming in the lake, canoeing, and watching the beautiful colours as the day wore. Will definitely go back and highly recommended it to anyone.

    Diplav2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Simply cannot say enough about this place, these hosts, or this trip. The cabin and surrounding area on the island is a perfect Georgian Bay experience — as much privacy and/or friendly communal interaction as one could want. For anyone (or any couple) looking for the quintessential 30,000 Islands experience: this is it.

The cabin was perfect for me & my pooch, as we like to be close to one another. Its situated on top of the hill, and so i had my privacy as well as a fabulous view of the bay. Definitely want to go back.

  • This beautifully restored and unassuming period home provided the ideal space to rest and recuperate after surgery. The host’s attention to detail was a surprising plus and I would not hesitate to rebook next spring.

    Tim2019-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • My stay was very comfortable in the little cabin. Everything was exactly as advertised, and you can’t get any better than that. Friendly, clean, welcoming and comfortable would be my take away. I will certainly be back. Thank you Lee-Ann

    Chris2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place for dog lovers. They have their own dog, Charlie, and it looks like they actively welcome others if you ask in advance. They're not kidding about the train noise in the cabin. Even if you're fine with traffic etc, put your earplugs in before going to bed (they supply a pair in case you don't own any). Once they're in, you're fine of course. If you need the loo in the night, bring a torch so you can work the keypad.

    Alex2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • I had an amazing stay on short notice. Perfect for a stop over or a home base on a weekend up north.

  • Our stay at Daniel’s guest cottage was amazing! Awesome views and hospitality. There were stores nearby, but you still felt so secluded! And Luke (his dog) was adorable and sweet too! We will definitely be back!

    Allessandra2020-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • Daniel was an amazing host! His place was kept really clean. He even brought us an espresso and Ginger Tea (as my gf doesn’t drink coffee). He had the fire pit ready for us and even started the fire for us the one afternoon! He gave me a few local beers as well to try! Gave lots of tips for the area and was just an all around great guy! The outdoor shower was pretty neat and the views at sunset was spectacular! We will definitely be back one day soon! Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a cozy getaway!

    Chris2020-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great find! Daniel’s Bunkie is a wonderful spot for a weekend getaway – feels secluded despite being close to downtown. It’s perched right on the water and is totally peaceful. Great views, very comfortable (the space is exactly as advertised) and well equipped. Daniel obviously loves treating his guests well – the roaring fire, fresh fruit, chocolates and good coffee…it was all appreciated. He definitely deserves the Superhost status!

    Sean2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Daniel’s place is absolutely wonderful! The location is stunning ! We went up for a cold fall/winter getaway and spent the whole weekend indoors admiring the scenery around us , you really cant beat the location and the view of the lake and the trees. Daniel was an incredible host and very thoughtful to constantly go out of his way for his guests . Would highly recommend this spot , fantastic little romantic getaway in this cabin that provided you with everything that you needed . Looking forward to coming back again

  • Beautiful place. Gorgeous cabin with such thoughtful details. Loved the record player and bottle of wine they left us. Once you get used to the compost toilet it’s easy to use. Very cozy, clean and romantic. The hot tub was so enjoyable even in the chilly fall weather. Would definitely come back!

  • Absolutely loved our stay! Perfect for a quiet retreat, yet close enough to towns such as Parry Sound for a day out! We visited a local brewery, pubs, and Parry Sound Golf and Country Club. The attention to detail and special touches in the cottage itself are outstanding. We visited in October, and there were even pumpkins on the front porch. So welcoming!! I couldn't help but snap a photo of everything! We spent quite a bit of time hanging out by the dock, or having morning coffee on the side deck. We would love to return! Thank you for a memorable stay.

  • Loved the place. Nice and cozy, lovely hot tub & quiet getaway. Norman was awesome when there was minor communication error . Would definitely return.

  • We were expecting great things from the pictures and the other reviews we saw but it was even better than we expected. Such a beautiful cozy place. Felt right at home. It was spotless, and super comfortable . Just the perfect spot for our 25th Anniversary. It was quiet and private. Hot tub was an added bonus. Beautiful area. Special touches that made it extra special for us. Hostesses were awesome. Super easy checkin/out. Will make it a yearly thing.

    Stephanie2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great quiet place with lots of things to do within the area. Very clean and the remodeling made the place look brand new. Perfect time of year to go and enjoy the fall colors. Would definitely come back!

    Rachel2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • We were greeted upon check in with a bottle of wine, which was so incredibly sweet and very much appreciated. This was our first child free trip away in 4 year and it was perfect. The cottage was exactly what we were looking for and needed, it was spotlessly clean, well decorated and cozy. The location was perfect, a close walk to the water and we were lucky enough to experience the beautiful fall colours and the hot tub was the perfect place to relax in the crisp fall air. We had an amazing weekend and came home well rested, we will definitely be returning next year.

    Mellissa2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place. Very close to the water. Cozy, great host. As a treat, they gave us a bottle of wine for a honeymoon. Unexpected and very appreciated.

  • My husband and I traveled with our 6 year old twin boys and our 110 pound lab Dawson. This cabin was everything we thought it was going to be. - the weather got really cool so we made good use of the hot tub - the canoe was so incredible. Brought up life jackets for the boys. Adult life jackets provided at cabin. - beautiful wrap around deck with beautiful comfy furniture. - lake is about a 2 min walk from the cabin - the top sleep area was a fun area for kids to sleep. I kept bumping my head so I wouldn’t recommend it for 4 adults. - cabin was brilliantly clean. Many beautiful touches, my favourite being the stained glass window in the kitchen. - A bottle of wine was also there as a gift. There were packs of popcorn, a bunch of fresh potatoes to make fries with, a bag of travel items just in case a guest forgot something, tons of games and dvds, shampoo/conditioner/body wash, records, cds - neighbours were very polite and we had no trouble with other dogs wondering if the property - there is a close neighbour on the right just a stones throw away. Kim was a fantastic host! - we had no water pressure upon arrival. Texted Kim and she came right over to help. The pump was off so it was an easy fix. - we ran out of toilet paper and Kim responded to us right away. There was extra in storage under the queen bed. - the propane tank was empty by our 3rd day. Kim came straight away to get us a new one. - she made us feel so welcome and took care of us like family.

  • Great little cabin right on the water. Has everything you could need for a quick get away. The patio downstairs is such a nice touch to your stay, delicious food and the floating tv for leafs games was perfect to end our nights.

  • We had a great stay in this cabin. Lovely setting just near the lake. Really enjoyed the Patio restaurant just a few steps away. Interesting area, we did a great walk- the waterfront trail- around Parry Sound, and up to the tower lookout point for nice views and swimming in the lake. Also recommend the Trestle brewery for a place to stop to eat/drink.

    Tessa2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was a perfect spot for a quick getaway. Location very close to town with wonderful views of the water. The patio on the water is AAA+ We had an amazing dinner during our stay with a great laid back atmosphere.

  • We truly love our stay at Glenn Burney. We stayed in cabin 1 it was cute and cozy. Perfect with a beautiful view and privacy. We both found the cabin very clean and the bed was comfy. Apple TV also a nice touch. Nice little deck with bbq to use. We felt it had everything we needed. The patio is very nice, loved watching the Jay's game on the big TV screen on the floating dock with a beautiful view while we had dinner. Totally recommend the veggie board and the Spicy red pizza both absolutely delicious. We had to have it again during our stay. The staff was very friendly and quick on their feet. Love Parry Sound. Must check out the Trestle Brewery great food and beer! Also the flight deck was a nice little restaurant we enjoyed. Definitely coming back again.

  • What a perfect little gem. This place is beautiful. Right on the lake, with a great patio bar that sells good quality booze, a floating TV screen, kayaks ready to use, and a quaint and sweet cottage that has a killer view with everything you need... We were truly spoilt. We'll definitely be returning. Hospitality was so lovely and the communication was spot on. Thank you! Also... Great brewery 10 minutes up the road. Check it out!

If you are looking for a scenic stay to fish & hike, water sports if you rent a boat, a relaxing spot to kick your feet up with a good book or hangout for a dip by the riverside.. look no further

    Ryan2018-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth is really kind, and she always answered all my questions quickly. The cottage is perfect and the view is outstanding. My favorite place up north so far. Coming back soon. Thank you for everything Ruth. Everything was perfect.

    Bruno2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • The island and general area of Georgian Bay were absolutely beautiful. The fishing was very good throughout most times after a bit of experimenting and adapting (slow finesse presentation). Ruth was a very gracious host who enhanced the overall experience.

    Eddy2018-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth's cottage was one of the most beautiful I have seen. It's common room had large, open-concept windows, which let us have a beautiful view of the water every day. It is located directly on the hill top, which can be somewhat steep to reach, while climbing the rocks. It was also a little slippery due to the rain during the weekend. But, as long as you walk slowly and carefully, it will be all right. It is also a great fishing location. From the dock right next to the cottage, we caught a few large mouth bass, that were pretty big in size. Ruth was also very great with communication and responded to all of our questions over the weekend. We would definitely want to come back again soon!

    Jasmine2018-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • It was just amazing.Ruth and her family are incredibly nice and welcoming you, as you belong to their family too.The house looked exactly like on the pictures. You wake up hearing birds and nature everywhere. If you enjoy quiteness and natur, it is the perfect place for you.We can recommend it to anyone. It is a getaway to heal your soul.

A nature lovers island. Kayak, canoe, fish, swim, hike, and also just relax this is the island for you. A spot for families, fishing enthusiasts, friends. Perfect for a couple to "getaway"! Three small bedrooms. The bathroom has a shower/tub. The kitchen has full sized stove/oven and fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and toaster oven. Living room w/satellite TV. large sun room. Air conditioner, BBQ, Canoe. Huge wrap around deck with water views to 3 sides. 2 docks. Serene back bay. Lovely
Traditional wood cottage, located close to the water on rock. 1 1/2 acres windswept pine and moss forest with path. Large sun room with breakfast/bar and gorgeous views all around. Spacious deck overlooks the water. Two docks have room for several boats and one has a very solid swim ladder. Of note, we are situated on a waterway so at certain times there is the potential of boat traffic noise. Our back bay however is always quiet.
We are an Island community in Georgian Bay 40 minutes north of Parry sound. We are surrounded by water and rock islands covered in moss and pine trees. The historic Ojibway club a community center with snack bar, grocery store, and giftshop is a 5 minute boat ride away. The village of Pointe au Barril has a liquor store grocery/hardware/general store, gas station with small restaurant and delicious homebaked goods to purchase, tackle and bait shop, post office and community center where one can fill up on fresh water. There is the historic lighthouse to tour and fun cliff jumping at "Hole in the Wall". Pointe au Barril is a fishing paradise.
  • This was our second stay and just like the first time, the place was everything we expected. The deck is spectacular and the new dock was a fun spot for the kids to swim and fish from. The weather was rainy and cool but we were able to stay warm with the wood burning stove that kept the cottage nice and toasty. You can't go wrong staying here!

    Cory2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Christina was an excellent host. The views at the cottage are amazing. The deck is a great place for meals and relaxation. Having kayaks and canoes available to us made it a great spot for adventuring. We would highly recommend this cottage for anyone looking for a getaway.

  • Our stay at Christina’s was awesome , great communication , a beautiful island , the cottage had everything anyone would need , a very spacious deck outside with a great view of the sun rising in the mornings . We would definitely visit Christina’s cottage again .

  • This cottage is a poster for Georgian Bay cottaging! Well equipped, great location and attentive host. Would highly recommend this place!

  • Great stay. Christiana was very responsive to our requests and made sure we found the island. She also left us great butter tarts. It was a short boat ride from the marina where we rented a boat and parked the car. We used the canoe and kayaks every day. The air conditioner came in handy during the surprisingly warm weather.

Loon With a View Cottage-Site A, is a quaint, 2 bedroom cottage right at the water’s edge, in Pointe au Baril. It is an older cottage, and was previously used as a fishing camp. Many well-known TV fishermen have sat within these walls, talking into the wee hours about the ones caught (monsters all) and the few lost, lol. The cottage has evolved from a rustic camp, into a nicely decorated, well equipped refuge, complete with Wifi, TV for DVDs,screened in porch, shared dock, and barbecue.
Cannot be any closer to the water.
Pointe au Baril is a tiny village, whose economy depends on the tourist dollar. There is a liquor store (one of the busiest in the province) a few marinas, all of them mere minutes from this cottage, by either car or boat, a home hardware store which also sells basics in groceries, with a few luxury items, a post office and a Nursing Station. The village is 40 Kms from Parry Sound, which is a town with some of the bigger name brand stores. There is also a hospital in Parry Sound. It is located at 6 Albert Street. The hospital’s phone # is 705-746-9321.

  • We just got back from our 4 night stay at the cottage, we were a group of 5 and had a wonderful stay. They met us right on time for our arrival and departure. There was more than enough space in the boat for 1 trip each way. I have only good things to say about the cottage. The views from the deck are incredible, great sunsets! It’s on a quiet lake and it’s in a spot with little boat traffic. We enjoyed having a kayak and canoe to take out on the water. No fire ban so we were able to have a fire every night in the fire pit right on the water. We always had hot water, good shower, it was cool in the cottage with ceiling the fans going. Make sure to bring bug spray, the bugs were bad but that is going to be the case for any cottage in the woods. Thanks Niki and I hope to stay here again!

Built into a forested hill beside a river, with a sleeping loft and in-floor radiant heating in a granite flagstone floor, a kitchenette and a three piece washroom, the studio is the perfect place to relax, rejuvenate or retreat into creative work.
Whispering River Studio Retreat is just 10 minutes from Parry Sound and located in a woods of old growth white pine, maple, oak and birch, on the banks of the Seguin River. In spring the scent of flowering crab and apple trees, wild roses, lilacs and pin cherries fill the air. Fall features gorgeous colour on the hills, and nearby hikes feature views of the rocks and cliffs that make this area famous throughout September, October, November and early December. Winter is beautiful too - the season of retreat and rejuvenation is filled with pristine vistas - and lots of snow for the dedicated snowshoe-er or cross country skier! Georgian Nordic X-country ski trails are only 15 minutes away, and can be used in the summer for hiking as well. If you want to enjoy a community Christmas, come and experience the many, many local activities centered around this warm and friendly time of year. You are welcome to relax in the loft, the house's screened in porch, or on the studio porch or the look out and enjoy the gentle whisper of the river, or the wind in the pines. A short walk by the river is beloved by most guests - especially in the mornings when the mist often streams of the water. There is a Heintzman upright grand piano in good condition the house that you are welcome to use. My baby grand in a nearby gallery is also available for rehearsals, workshops and concerts upon arrangement. During the summer the Festival of the Sound at the Stocky Center is home to an International Classical Music Festival. String Quartets, classical and contemporary concert music artists grace the stage, and provide unparalleled musical inspiration for people drawn from all over the world. I have a propane gas stove, washer and dryer, and will provide you with bedding. There is also a BBQ available for use if you want to cook outside. The Seguin River flows swiftly to Mountain Basin Lake - a short 15 minute paddle from the house. You can take trips in either direction. There is excellent canoeing ( although in late August and September the water is very low - but it is still well worth doing the two or three lift-over through shallows), hiking, cross- country skiing, snowshoeing, fishing and hunting nearby. Deer Run Golf Course, a beautiful informal course with a waterfall in its backyard, is just across the road.
Parry Sound is a thriving town. Boat tours, a major classical music festival, and a wide variety of summer and winter sports are centered here. Tours, hikes, skiing, snowshoeing, canoeing, kayaking, sailing and water sports, and scenic drives are part of everyday activities for guests in this area. The rugged beauty of Georgian Bay is close at hand, and Canadian Shield country lakes and rivers are here to explore. There is Nordic skiing in the winter, and lots of great winter activities. It truly is a place for all seasons!
  • Brenda's place was awesome! I was visiting with a friend, and we had so much room to just lay about and to work. Not too far from some great trails and parks, even though we couldn't do too much of that during this trip (Mostly due to the weather and a lack of proper gear); we hope to be back in warmer conditions to explore the area further.

  • By far the most peaceful relaxing atmosphere I have ever experienced

    Robert2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • I spent three nights at the Whispering River working on a writing project. The space is tranquil, open, and inspiring and I was able to get some really great work done while there. During my breaks I went on walks along the river with my dog Humber and Brenda recommended some excellent trails/Provincial Parks nearby for some more long-distance mid-day walk. My dog Humber was equally pleased by those! Overall it was a great experience and lovely space and I definitely would recommend it to folks - and I hope to book again some time in the future.

We came down from our apartment expecting a nice quiet time and even though we had some weather and car troubles, Brenda went out of her way to help us get to her location and get safely home. I’ve never experienced such top in class hospitality and I would recommend this place to anyone. Not just for the views but for the fact that you will experience an amazingly personalized time.

    Daniel2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful, peaceful setting. There are many things to do around the area (and Brenda can tell you about them all!) or you can just enjoy the quiet forest and watch the river flow. The Studio is a lovely space, and cozy in the winter. The heated floors are fantastic! Hopefully I can return another time and experience a different season.

  • Such a relaxing place! Had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We appreciated how secluded the property was, enjoyed a winter hike, the hot tub, sauna, and all of the board games provided.

    Emily2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay! Quiet and relaxing. Great views from the screened in porch. Made us feel like we were outside but still protected from the bugs/rain! Also, lots of property to explore and enjoy. We especially enjoyed the sauna and hot tub. Sandy beach was great too. Most everything that we needed (other than our food and personal items) was provided which was very convenient. (Ie: towels, games, tea, coffee, bug spray and more!) We will be be back!

    Megan2019-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time! So comfortable and cozy. The sauna and hot tub are perfect. The host will tell you to be wary of locking the door - we forgot about this and ended up locked outside. There are solutions, but be very careful about the door! Other than that, great weekend.

    William2019-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I stayed at this home in February of 2019 and we absolutely loved it! The home is well stocked for cooking, having a bbq, toaster oven, hot plate, slow cooker, microwave, pots, pans, cutlery and plates, cups and bowls to use. Though there is really only a kitchenette with no kitchen sink, it wasn’t difficult to wash dishes after use using the water from the bathroom sink. The hot tub was so nice! We soaked in it every night, including during a blizzard. During said blizzard, the power flickered a couple of times but there was nothing to worry about as the whole house has a back up solar generator and battery back up. The sauna was a nice touch, super nice to come home to after snow shoeing, skating and ice fishing. There is satellite TV as well as a large stock of dvds should you choose to stay indoors during your trip. The outdoors, however, was why we were there. We spent the first day snow shoeing across the frozen lake which was such a neat experience. That same day we were told by the owners that we should check out Cranberry Farms skating. We did an evening skate on a 1.2km trail around the cranberry pond. This was lit up entirely by tiki torches which was such a neat experience! The second day there we did ice fishing on Lake Nipissing with Snowfari Adventures. It’s about an hour and twenty minutes away, and $50/person per day. Totally recommend them! This stay was all around wonderful! Definitely recommend this Airbnb rental!

    Jen2019-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage style house is one of the best I've seen. Tucked away in a nook, it is all you could ever ask for, especially if you are looking for a quiet place to relax and revel in the nature around. The hot tub is amazing and the sauna is a nice treat. I would give this place 6 stars if I could.

Cottage #6 at the Katawoda Cottage Resort We have 11 cottages scattered across our 100 acre property with 3000 feet of waterfront. Situated on the shores of Georgian Bay, our cottages are conveniently located ~2h from the GTA. All of our cabins have a gorgeous lake view and include access to our private beach. From June to September, swimming and fishing in Georgian Bay is excellent. We have canoes, kayaks and paddle boats available for you to truly experience the unparalleled beauty of nature.
  • My family and I only stayed for one night. We got there around 3 pm on a Saturday and left on Sunday at 5 pm. The pictures don't do it justice. The cottages are a little deep in the woods but I absolutely loved that. The beach is private with 2 docks, a volleyball net and a playground for the little ones. Canoeing and Kayaking is also available which my family and I took full advantage of. There is also designated bonfire places and each cottage has a BBQ. I absolutely loved it and will definitely be coming back next summer! Helen was so helpful and even gave us some sugar because we forgot it.

  • Shelter ! Cottage on the hillside, accessible by boat only (water taxi to Killbear Marina). Rustic amenities as it should be, but very comfortable. Plan of the chalet very well designed to live half in, half out. Immediate access to the water, solid pontoon to moor his boat. We came with a small sailboat. The location is ideal for water excursions, both in the Parry Sound (Depot Harbor, the Hole in the Wall) and Killbear Park or the islands off the Sound. After a week, we still had a lot to explore ...

  • We had a very enjoyable stay. The outdoor shower was great, very private and protected from the wind. We were appreciative to have a gas stove, most cottages have old electric stoves which take a lot of time to heat up. The cottage was very cozy and we rented a boat and caught a lot of fish in the surrounding area. Marc was great, he always responds very quickly and he offered us some tips of things we could do. We mostly just fished all day, so if that's what you're into as well this place is a great spot for fishing!

  • Another great stay!

    Steven2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful trip and experience for our young family. Views of lake are gorgeous and island is full of adventure for a young 3 year old. Good fishing from dock, frogs, turtle, caterpillars. Some mornings spent picking wild blue berries. A few small trails for adventure. Screened inn porch did an amazing job, not one bug entered, and became a casualty. Canoe rides across the lake to creek are gorgeous and can portage canoe to a private late where no boats are in the lake. Pointe au baril canal was wonderful w small, very small sand beach but very much enjoyed. Cliff jumping was a first and a new addiction. Obijway club was great with ice cream, small trails and play ground. Swing set facing the water and covered deck with beach for the little one. Enjoyed the outdoor shower. Personally didn’t realize it was the only shower but was wonderful. The perfect place to disconnect, enjoy Canada and most importantly, family.

  • This is my best Airbnb stay so far. Much more than you expect in that compact RV. Everything nicely thought thru. Did not get much chance to meet with Sharon, but Bill is really good host and his location is spot on for perfect evening BBQ and relax. Would love to Happy come back next summer.

    Chinmoy2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Bill and Sharon were wonderfully hospitable. The trailer was clean, cozy and had everything we needed. We had a lovely stay and it was the perfect location for us to return to after a day of exploration.

    Tierre2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • A cute little place to stay. It was exactly what we were looking for and matched our needs perfectly. Bill and Sharon are such friendly people and made us feel welcome.

    Linda2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Bill and Sharon are great, friendly hosts and the trailer rental was extremely comfortable with great amenities for the price: BBQ (gas and utensils provided), trailer has a small but useful bathroom, comfortable double bed, and well supplied kitchen section. Free canoe usage provided even beginners such as ourselves a great experience. The area is also great for star gazing at night. The land is used for other endeavours such as a parking lot, boat launches and the ice cream stand (which tastes amazing!), but any noises or disturbances were for a short time and Bill and Sharon gave us proper warning and thus easy to understand. I would recommend this place to anyone else seeking their first country experience as it's not really roughing it in a tent or at a cottage without major conveniences such as running water, electricity and other supplies. Plus, you can't beat the price. Highly recommended!

    Vladimir2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Bill and sharons. Place was definitely better than I’d expected. It is OLD but clean and extremely well equipped. There is also a constant suppply of very hot water. The shower worked well. There was a full size fridge and Bill had provided a 4l (I think) bottle of drinking water for us. I suggest you bring another with you. The RV is sited near to Bills home but this is wasn’t a problem. There’s a lovely view of the river, it’s only just over the road. We also had use of a canoe which was appreciated. Little tip... the bar / restaurant over the shop at the earlier marina serves good food and has good WiFi... once you have the code you can even access signal downstairs and outside.

    Ruth2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Charming spot and the trailer was exactly what we were looking for! Bill and Sharon are around if you need them but give you your privacy to enjoy the serene setting!

    Stephanie2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Bill and Sharon’s place is a little piece of heaven! With the view of the water feet away, amenities like kayaking, swimming, ice cream directly on site, and the helpful tips, it’s hard not to unwind and enjoy the simplicity and gorgeous nature provided by their place. If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing place to reenergize, this is the place.

  • I had thought only to stay just anywhere in order to save a long commute, but ended up having a lovely evening in a beautiful little suite - spotlessly clean, with all the amenities (including a full-sized fridge and a fireplace), and within walking distance of the town centre. The warm welcome from Rae and Mike made me feel right at home. Check-in was a breeze. I don't know what I enjoyed most - the evening walk and then gorging myself on Netflix after a long work day, or the excellent morning coffee made in-suite after a shower in the beautiful bathroom. Thank you so much for your hospitality.

  • Spent 4 days at Catherine's cottage, had a great time! Very clean and spacious. Beautiful view of the lake! There's a marina down the road with some groceries and a Tim Hortons and gas station just 10 mins from the cottage on the highway. It was a great stay and I would love to come back! Thanks for everything Catherine!

  • The upstairs of the cottage was beautiful and open with big glass doors and a great view of the lake! Area was very quiet and great for a relaxing getaway. Also came with a big BBQ, was great being able to BBQ for every meal. Dock was big and while the water was a little weedy, it was still very clean and was able to swim and hang out in floaties. Catherine answered all questions within minutes as well! Thanks again for the great weekend!
