Places to stay in Mount Barney

Places to stay in Mount Barney
Restored 90 year old farm building separate from house overlooking the McPherson Ranges and Mount Barney on a 17 acre farm block with animals. Great place to stay if you are walking Mt Barney, Mt May or Mt Maroon - 40 mins drive north. The cottage can accommodate 3 people using a queen bed and a trundle bed (extra $15/night). The cottage runs on solar power (off the grid); gas cooktop; gas hot water; septic toilet; tank water and wood heater. Dean's shed is overflowing with stories and harness.
Our 17 acre block is just a couple of minutes walk from Woodenbong, a small rural village in northern NSW, 2 hrs south of Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Being in the country we don't have access to all of the telecommunication providers that the majority of Australians have in the city and living on the coast. However, we are served by Telstra so if you have a Telstra account you can use your mobile phone, laptop, ipad here. We have access to a wi-fi - ask for the password (charges may apply). Our advice is to disconnect from the city and reconnect with the country.
Woodenbong is a small rural village and it was founded to support the growth of the timber industry and the pastoral industry. In the village there is a hotel, a 24 hour Mobil driveway, a chemist, a newsagency, a hardware store, a grocery shop, a real estate agency, a panel beating service, engineering services, a take away shop and Linda's Pitstop (coffee and food), a bus service to Kyogle, Casino and Lismore, a Pre School and a K-12 Woodenbong Central school. We also have access to a Hospital, doctor's surgery and ambulance service in Urbenville (12kms from Woodenbong).
  • Kim and Dean have done a wonderful job! A gorgeous little self contained cottage with everything you could possibly need. Such great value for money! Thank you for having us!

    Bron2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Kim’s place is really magical. Kim gave my kids carrots to feed Ellie the horse. The cabin is lovely and cosy. One has to be prepared for off the grid living which means watching timing of use for toasters, kettles, use of hot water etc. They were accommodating to have a generator running when we needed as an overcast day meant limited solar energy. Kim also gave us a special offer so we could ‘sneak’ out booking in for a brief overnight stay. She has put lots of thought into it. We also enjoyed the board games she provides in the room.

  • Great place, nice and quiet

    Robert2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside. Kim and Dean are lovely people and I'd go back anytime.

    Antoine2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • What a view, what a view, what a view! Sitting out on the verandah immediately outs you in relaxed holiday mode watching the animals and listening to the birds. The cabin has a wonderful aspect over the surrounding hills and catches the local breezes to keep the place cool. What a wonderful little gem, I will stay here next time I am in Woodenbong (I’ll be eagerly trying to think of an excuse to come back soon)

    Heather2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Charming cottage and stunning location

    Haitham2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is a repurposed farm building which has been well decorated with a super comfortable bed, beautiful timber touches and retaining original infrastructure - one of a kind! It is nice and close to town with a beautiful outlook. Woodenbong is close to several national parks including Mount Barney and border ranges so is the perfect place for hikers to stop and explore the area. We really enjoyed watching the local wildlife and visits from Ellie the horse whilst sitting on the back deck.

    Renee2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • We so enjoyed our time at Kim’s place. The peace and quiet from a hassle of city life was just what we were after, and we were not disappointed. The bed was extremely comfortable , and every thing you could need was there. Thanks Kim and dean for a great experience

Stay in a charming renovated dairy on Flagrock farm. Set apart from the main house complex you will enjoy a peaceful environment with soft decor, air conditioning, rustic simplicity throughout and wonderful views. 7 kms from Boonah township which has its own local charm. You'll have access to national parks and hiking trails. Flagrock farm has a meadering creek with small gorge which offers undercover BBQ and open fire place facilities for you to enjoy. Flagrock has sheep and a sheep dog.
At this time we have limited mobile reception with telstra being the better option. If needed you can come up to the house to get better reception. The dairy at this time comes without WIFI or TV facilities. Along the creekline there are opportunities for bird watching. Tea and coffee facilities will be provided and a light continental breakfast is provided.
Boonah offers over 7 coffee shops. Try the story tree or hummingbirds for a great coffee. Mt Alford also offers a boutique brewery and coffee shop as well. If you are into hiking, the scenic rim offers wonderful mountain hikes, eg Mt Maroon, Mt edwards, Mt Mitchell and many others.
  • 10/10!! Really loved our stay with Trina. It was a world away from the tourist filled coast. Trina was so generous with her time, offering loads of useful tips on places to visit. The accommodation itself was even better than we had expected and had loads of novel personal touches. Highly highly recommend!

    Noreen2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved our stay here, we used the time as a gadget/internet detox and really enjoyed it! Thoughtful touches including tea coffee and a light breakfast, incredibly comfortable arrangements and what a view! Can’t recommend highly enough

    Jina2020-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • A great host, Trina is an excellent communicator. The Dairy is more beautiful than even the photos can do justice. If you want to stay somewhere where you can connect with country life this is for you. The bbq area and creek are wonderful, be brave and go for a swim on a hot day.

    Donna2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place to relax and we felt very welcome. The accommodation had everything we needed and we enjoyed the fresh decor. The BBQ was great too and we saw some turtles in the creek

    Rebecca2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay at Trina's place, located very near the heart of Boonah. The dairy is cosy and quaint - very comfortable beds, sufficient equipment in the kitchen and a clean bathroom. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a quiet, farm-like experience!

  • Staying at Julia and Ewan’s home was a simply wonderful sir bnb experience. The house is so stylish and clean and Julia welcomes you so warmly into her home. The location is fantastic and Julia provided so many kind touches. I especially liked the adorable little dog Bonnie. Special treats such as her brownies, slices and biscuits were so lovely. Julia and Ewan are marvellous hosts and I would recommend staying there to everyone. Julia’s breakfasts were fantastic - add the special touch of preparing it herself. Julia and Ewan were full of local knowledge and happy to chat and offer a cuppa anytime. I look forward to staying again sometime in the future.

    Maree2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was the nicest AirBnB experience I've had! Home cooked brownie on arrival, amazing breakfast (especially the scrambled eggs!!!) - the hosts were amazing. We had great conversation, it felt like I was an an uncle/aunt's place - not people I just met. The place has wonderful views, a very relaxing vibe and I look forward to coming back!

    Igor2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Julia was a great host and the shared facilities were excellent. we had a very early departure and she was kind enough to see us off.

    Norrie2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Genuine, real and incredibly hospitable were Julia and hubby. Made us feel right at home. Our bedrooms were sparkling clean and comfortable. Both Julia and hubby took such good care of us, even preparing a breakfast for us in the morning before we headed out hiking. A real b n' b. Would highly recommend this on to anyone so to experience such a warm welcome stay as we did.

    Della2019-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Without doubt, our stay with Julia was one of our best stays with whole Airbnb experience! Outstanding hospitality with care and love to everything they do! 5star resort breakfast, comfy beds and great company! Recommend to those who loves to get to know people, meet their host and enjoy outstanding service!

  • Running creek farm is a beautiful property! We had four toddlers with us and they had the time of their lives! The house is a lovely farm house and we felt instantly at home, the owners went above and beyond.. even bringing the tractor over for our children. We will definatley be returning next year 😁

    Kylie2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • If you don't like a peaceful, secluded holiday in a perfect corner of Australia then this spot is unfortunately not for you. Our family immensely enjoyed a seven night stay over Christmas and absolutely loved the peaceful country surroundings. Running Creek, is surprisingly a very literal name as the creek was still flowing when most creeks in Australia were dry. The creek produced the one Bass (we released it back to the wild) and a platypus sighting for the family. The amenities were spot on and the house has been tastefully renovated on the inside. The train line through the property had our excited family running to the backdoor each time an occasional loco eased past for a wave. Down to earth owners Debbie and Rod went to great lengths to make our stay special and the Christmas decorations were above and beyond expectations. Tops stay.

    Scott2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great little getaway, kids were occupied the whole time. We went on walks around the property to explore and found a tunnel under the train tracks, found the horses and fed them the carrots provided. The fire pit kept us warm under the stars. To top it off we got to feed some of the calves then saw the swimming spot and got to have turns on the kayak. 10/10 recommended from the whole family.

    Joalla2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at your place. It was a lovely holiday for us, kids enjoyed their freedom to run around the field and kayaking in the creek, feeding the horses and creeping around the cows. The cottage was great size, clean and very homey. Host were super friendly & welcoming and very thoughtful for providing all amenities. Thank you again for everything. Hope to visit you again.

    Susama2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage sits between two spectacular mountain ranges. I never tired of gazing at them. With no neighbours in sight or earshot you can truly unwind in Debbie’s comfortable and well appointed cabin. I will be back for sure.

    Duncan2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful experience! Each and every minute requirement for stay was taken care of. The cottage is at perfect location for people who want to enjoy their time in nature away from city life. The house is super clean and spacious.

  • Barbara and Glynn's cottage is gorgeous. We decided on a last minute mini escape and the cottage's privacy and serenity was perfect for us to unwind. All rooms are beautifully decorated and welcoming. Love the shower gel and hand wash in the ensuite - I still smell devine. We paddled in the pool, and enjoyed a walk through the olive grove. Thanks for a great place to stay.

  • I stayed here with my groomsmen the evening before my wedding. The space was comfortable and perfect. We enjoyed walking through the olive gardens and through a frisbee in the large areas around the house. It was close to township so we could go out for dinner and was easily big enough for 6 guys. Barbara was an excellent host and very helpful and accomodating.

  • Great little cottage off the main house, Leah is friendly and responds quickly. Comfortable and clean.

    Ambrose2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Leah is a gracious host. The hut is separate from the house, providing excellent privacy. The amenities were as described and perfect for a short stay. We were attending a wedding at Koomba Vineyard so very much appreciated accommodation in such close proximity. Definitely recommend this accommodation for anyone looking for a short stay in the area.

  • Nice private stand alone cabin with a kitchenette, en-suite & deck & comfy bed. Leah was a great host! Flexible and helpful and ready to ensure you have a nice stay. I Djd at the lavandar farm vineyard up the road and was so grateful to have a relaxed helpful host and a cozy place to stay before driving to the next gig !

  • This cosy cabin was absolutely wonderful. The location was excellent and the view was just incredible. It would have to be one of my favourites in the scenic rim. We climbed Mt May thanks to the guide book on location and visited the excellent cafe down the road on their recommendation and loved it! The cabin was perfectly clean, the fireplace was perfect, and the kangaroos on the lawn out the front were awesome. If we could afford to buy this place we would. Thank you for a great weekend!

Relax and rejuvinate at Big Bluff. Wake up to kookaburras that announce the dawn and rolling mist on the mountain tops. A cuppa on the deck watching the hares dart past, or a spot in the Polaris to check the cattle before brekky. Big Bluff is a working cattle farm nestled in a hidden valley in the Border Ranges. It has a perfect playground, rolling lawns to run across and a purpose-built entertainment hut for tunes and tall tales.
Choose from a bushwalk to look out over Mt Lindsay or follow the meandering creek. Connect with the land, and connect with the animals. Feed the chooks and collect the eggs, and just sit awhile and watch them. Catch up with a good book, switch off and let your mind to wander, or slow down and truly talk to your partner or your children. Rest. Relax. A spot of paddock cricket or boules, or try your hand at cooking damper over the campfire. Feel the air change as the sun dips below the horizon, setting the clouds alight with a myriad of colours, then relax in the Bull Ring with a beer or two. The Bull Ring has a dream playground attached - slide, cubby, climbing frames and swings - so it is the hub of the farm for everyone! Valley View sleeps six with a queen bed, two king singles in the second bedroom and a sofa bed in the lounge. It has a fully self-contained kitchen and two outdoor decks with magnificent views of the valley and surrounding hills.
Big Bluff is so close to the Border Ranges National Parks. Border Ranges National Park (31,683 hectares), a World Heritage listed rainforest park on the rim of a vast and ancient volcano, adjoins Lamington National Park in Queensland. It stretches 85 kilometres from east to west. It forms part of the caldera of the Mount Warning shield volcano, the largest caldera in the southern hemisphere. It can be viewed from a range of lookouts with bush walks and picnic areas. Border Ranges National Park has spectacular views, pristine rainforests, waterfalls plunging into deep gorges, sparkling creeks, steep scarps and rugged ridges.
  • Jodie and Wayne are incredibly welcoming and friendly and the view from the accommodation is outstanding! We all had an absolute ball with the highlight being the Polaris tour of the farm in the late afternoon - sooo much fun!

    Susan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second time we've stayed at Jodie and Wayne's and we loved it as much as the first. So accomodating with the kids, letting us tag along and be part of the fun. A great place to share a weekend getaway with friends, space enough for eveyone and lots for kids (6, 6, 4 & 4) to do exploring and adventuring as kids should do.

    Erin2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay. Best farm stay I've ever been to. The accommodation was immaculate and we enjoyed getting to see the farm. Worth staying just for their passionfruit butter, yum!

    Sarah2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great time at the Big Bluff! Jodie and Wayne were the perfect hosts and made us very welcome. The farm tour and helping with the feeding of the cattle the next morning were absolute highlights. We were welcome to wander around the property and we enjoyed an evening picnic in the orchard. The drive to the pinnacles look out in the border ranges was well worth it too. Hopefully one day we’ll be back.

    Lucy2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Jodie & Wayne’s Farmstay! The little touches like the breakfast basket, the keep-sake luggage tag and the personal tour of the farm were the parts I loved the most. The kids loved feeding the animals and playing on the playground! We look forward to coming back again!

    Sarah2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Big Bluff was beautiful! We booked a very spontaneous trip and the place exceeded our expectations. Jodie and Wayne are lovely, they gave us a tour of the farm which we all loved. They also brought us fresh eggs, bread and bacon for the morning. The place is beautiful and peaceful, perfect for a weekend away.

    Gabrielle2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Jodie and Wayne’s, and the very thoughtful touches like the farm breakfast basket made it a perfect experience. The kids loved seeing all the animals and playing in the barn and playground, and the Polaris tour out to see the cows was a highlight! Great hospitality and definitely a unique farm experience out on Big Bluff!

    Thea2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Big Bluff was one of the most enjoyable breaks we have had in a long time. Our boys, who are 10 and 7, absolutely loved it. Saturday night around the campfire with pizzas from the woodfired pizza oven and great company was the highlight for us. We will definitely be back again. Hopefully Tuppence the dog doesn't miss us too much.

Darlington Grove is a unique one bedroom farm stay experience located in the heart of the Scenic Rim, Lost World Valley. You will be staying in what used to be a functioning milking Dairy Shed. Think of your stay as cottage farm stay meets glamping! The Dairy has been fully renovated and features a beautifully decorated bedroom which has amazing mountain views, an open air kitchen, cottage garden and a rustic but comfortable, detached shower and toilet.
The Dairy is situated on a 100 acre hobby farm that has animals (sheep, chickens, ducks, horses, pigs and cows) an olive grove of 250 trees, and the Albert River flowing through it.
Our farm is located in a prime position to access many of the festivities of the Scenic Rim Food and Wine Festival. The actual street it is located on has several properties involved with the scenic rim food and wine festival. In the area there is also an awesome cooking school, bush walks, hidden water holes, and we are a short and scenic drive from a couple of local cafes that sell local produce from the area. The owners Kate and Sam can fill you in on all the secret and not so secret attractions they have found in the area!!!
  • If you are looking for a tranquil place to just chill, there is no other place than here. Away from the hustle and bustle of city and life itself, this place is the epitome of zen. Book it today!

    Siti2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Sam & Kate's place is amazing! There is so much to explore and do at the farm, the views from the place are amazing and the walks are endless. Our favourite part was the animals, getting to feed them and pat them! There is lots to do on the farm and nearby too so there was never a dull moment. Feels very homey and we were so sad to leave! Thanks again guys :)

    Madeleine2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed my stay here. A picturesque space with lovely personal touches. Gorgeous.

    Rebecca2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • I must admit, when we read there was no internet in the car on the way there, we were a little hesitant 😂 but it was the most incredible thing. Our little boy loved the open spaces, we fed the farm animals, played in the rain, explored the bush, ate in the big open aired kitchen and generally just had a blast. Wonderful hospitality and so nice to escape the city.

    Taleah2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • What can we say except that we will be back for sure! The location is just beautiful along with the actual farm and accommodation. The styling of the bedroom is very welcoming and warm and then the kitchen/chill area is set up beautifully! The kids loved the chores of feeding the animals and letting them out in the morning and especially loved the tree house! With 100acres to play with we went 4x4 explored up the mountains, it was fantastic with an incredible view from the top! We would 100% recommend Darlington Grove! One tip though, do a big food shop in Beaudesert as the closest shops are about 30mins away

    Jenni2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Sam and Kate's farm is just wonderful. A super cosy place with a great crowd of friendly animals around! Can highly recommend! Sam and Kate are exceptional hosts also. They will make sure you have a great time!

    Andreas2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • My five year old son and I were fortunate enough to be the very first guests to stay at this beautiful farm. Everything exceeded our expectations. My little guy fully immersed himself into farm life and thoroughly enjoyed feeding the animals, letting the chickens out of a morning and collecting their eggs,The tree house was his favourite! The decor feels like it’s straight out of country life magazine. The bed is super comfortable with luxurious Sheridan sheets. We cooked our meals in the fully equipped kitchen and enjoyed them on the vintage tractor stools. We are now feeling very blissed out and grateful.

This sweet and elevated workman's cottage, set on a disused farm, is utterly charming and cosy. It's a particularly convenient location if you're looking to venture out into the Border Ranges National park with its vast views and numerous, magical walking tracks. The cottage itself is pretty basic. Perfect for those whom appreciate good old rustic charm, or those looking for a country escape.
As you will be able to tell by the photos, the space is very rustic yet charming. It's definitely a space free of 'bells & whistles', concentrating more on the basics, done well. Just like us it has some bumps and bruises but we love it for that. Please be aware that mobile phone reception is non existent. Say your goodbyes from about 20 minutes away. You can keep in touch with the outside world via the internet (iPhone and messenger etc). However! The big house just at the top of the drive approx. 80m away) does have a landline for emergencies. There is a small television and DVD player (with lots of DVDs to choose from), however, there is no actual TV reception here. There is an HDMI socket at the back of the TV if you'd like to link up your computer to stream via the internet. Please be aware that the internet connection isn't super fast so it can glitch a bit. If the weather is bad, the internet is even more glitchy, so chuck on a dvd and forget about the world! Fire flies!!!! Magical little critters they are!! I've seen them here. Just not all the time. Very mesmerising to watch if you get lucky enough! I've been sure to include the following items as they are must haves: Coffee, Tea, Sugar Mustard & Tomato Sauce Olive Oil Wine vinegar Balsamic Vinegar Salt & Pepper
If you're wanting to see what the Border Ranges National Park has to offer there are plenty of hits on the internet. From peoples drone videos on youtube, to the more thorough 'to do' info via the national parks NSW website. In terms of what is available in the area, there is a sweet little general store in the nearby town of Wiangaree (which is where you turn off the highway). This is approx. 10 minutes away. They have the basics there, bread, milk, beer etc. Nothing fancy. Just the basics. Run by lovely locals. The next nearest town is Kyogle which has a supermarket with all your provisioning needs, again, nothing fancy.
  • Our stay in the cottage exceeded our hopes for a moment away to rest and restore with my partner and I and our pup. We stayed for just under a week in perfect serenity. Quiet and still in beautiful nature, with plenty of places to explore by car or foot nearby. The cottage is full of complimentary essentials making us feel very much at home here. Bring just enough grocery produce to make your time comfortable here as after you arrive you won’t want to leave to the next towns for anything. Cottage is cosy but spacious. Location is quiet but alive. Vibe is soft but feels oh so good. Thank you Jessica to hold this space for all of us! Be back again soon.

    Darcy2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet, rustic accommodation close to the Border Ranges National Park. We enjoyed meeting the owner of the property.

    Christine2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Cute little rustic getaway right outside the scenic Border Ranges. Lovely view and we enjoyed exploring the property. The owner Chang was kind enough to give us a tour of a couple walking tracks nearby. Definitely stock up on food in Kyogle beforehand as there’s really nothing healthy at the local shop. We would recommend this little charmer for anyone wanting to disconnect and explore the beautiful Border Ranges next door.

    Jessica2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • What a charming little cottage, full of personality ! The cottage is well equipped with all you need. Just the place to unwind and enjoy nature. A running creek and lots of exploring was enjoyed by my dog and myself.

    Narelle2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cosy place, off the beaten track, a great romantic get away!

    Jessica2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Mudbrick cottage, very rustic, was like a step back in time.... with wifi! Great creek for dogs to swim and play.... bring your inflatable raft for ultimate relaxation! The view from the veranda is much bigger and better than the photos.

    Gareth2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is even cutter than the pictures, the fire is toastie warm, and there was a lovely selection of herbal teas! The cottage has everything you need and nothing you don't - just perfect for a get away. We were lucky enough to join Chang and Alfie (the dog) for a lovely walk around the property. We just wish we had an extra day to stay. Thanks so much!

  • Hosts Jenny and Angus communicated with us well and made us feel very welcome. This place was so lovely to stay at, full of surprises, and we had all we needed for an overnight stay. ( wish we stayed longer) There’s so much fun things to see and do in this old church, quite fascinating really Games, and board games books and handmade clothes crafts etc to look at, Super interesting, this place made me put my phone down and I love that, (don’t judge you’re reading this review on your phone😂) The breakfast provisions were our favourite part local produce and organic treats. Thanks Jenny and Angus!

  • I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this accommodation to others, esp if you're interested in pieces from days gone by.....it is a treasure trove of fascinating 'stuff'. Jenny and Angus were very friendly and such lovely people. The bed linen was esp lovely and the beds very comfortable. So much better than staying in a motel!!

  • My husband and I spent a week here as it is a good place from which to explore the scenic rim. The little town of Boonah has plenty of character and numerous great eating places. We have stayed in numerous Airbnb’s and this was by far the most unusual. So much space and such a beautiful floor and stained glass windows! And plenty of things for (older) kids to play with. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. Jenny and Angus were lovely hosts.

    Val2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jenny’s place is a fabulous, unique space with great, idiosyncratic furnishings, perfectly located in Boonah.

    Mark2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Boonah is a special country town and the church street Airbnb run by Jenny and Angus is just as memorable. My husband kept walking around the property saying “Fran you have picked a wonderful place, we can never match this!” My recommendation is stay in Church and fall I. Love with this part of Queensland.

    Francesca2019-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing and Jenny, the host, really goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. It is set in the middle of town and if I ever need to stay in Boonah again I wouldn't hesitate to book here.

  • My friends and I had such a great break away at Joerg and Marlene’s Airbnb. We had such a comfortable stay thanks to all the homely touches, it was like being in your own home but so much better. The pool was well used during the heat of the day and then being able to sit on the verandah and watch the wildlife at dusk was just beautiful. Every little thing was thought of!

  • Thank you so much for sharing your amazing home with us. It was beautifully cleaned, everything was thought out perfectly and we had absolutely everything we needed. The house and linen smelt amazing and fresh and we LOVED the secret room! We stay in Airbnb’s all over Australia and we’re yet to find one that has everything inclusive - shampoo, soap, dishwashing liquid, washing machine, washing powder, endless supply of towels. The beds has the most precise folds I’ve ever seen. Thanks again!

  • Kirro is a perfect place for us to have a holiday where we can escape from the city and people. The view from the house is stunning. There is water in the river nearby even in summer. Sue is truly the super host. We really enjoyed our farm visit led by Sue. It was a wonderful experience. Given opportunity, we would love to stay at Kirro again.

Beautiful Whole Farmhouse in the Condamine Gorge near Killarney and Queen Mary Falls. Great place for families to be families without TV and WIFI. Lots of swings in trees, creeks, gentle cows in paddocks, outdoor and indoor fireplaces with spectacular views up and down the gorge. Located in the beautiful Scenic Rim under two hours drive from Brisbane. There is also currently no mobile reception (plus for some, negative for others!), but there is a free landline phone.
The house has four bedrooms with enough beds to sleep 10 people. There is also a large central space with two couches that can sleep another 2 people, and heaps of space for more camping beds etc if you have them. It is a fantastic place for large family get togethers. The linen and towels are all up there with the beds all made up. There is also an outside undercover firepit with cooking plates and camp ovens, a modern BBQ with wokburner and indoor fires. Firewood is included and stacked on the verandah ready to go. Outside is the magnificent Condamine Gorge, and large flat lawn areas for kids to play soccer and cricket. Pets and horses are welcome. The drive from Brisbane is via Boonah and is simply beautiful the whole way, it sets the tone for a wonderfully scenic getaway.
  • My friends and I came here for my 21st. We had such an awesome time! We loved going on little walks on the property and looking at the amazing scenery. The animals came straight up to us when we arrived and we loved having them around. The beds were so comfortable and the house was stylish! Thank you for the visit! We definitely want to come back.

    Chris2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • All the positive comments from previous reviews tell the story. Friendly animals, good comms with host, lots of thoughtful touches such as flowers, wine, chocolates, etc. It was very hot outside when we arrived but house was quite cool. Ceiling fans in all the bedrooms very helpful. I’d suggest that if you go in summer, use the BBQ for meals and plan accordingly. There was a total fire ban this weekend, so no campfire, and the wood stove in kitchen would make the house too hot. (No other oven or hotplates in kitchen). We had delicious meals on the BBQ- roast lamb leg, rosemary potatoes (using rosemary from the garden) and salad. Kitchen is well equipped. Lovely location, perfect for a relaxing weekend.

    Robyn2019-11-10T00:00:00Z

  • All was perfect: the beautiful house, the location in that lost e wonderful world, surrounded by animals and by the sounds of the nature, the creek, the atmosphere of peace and relax. Claire and her husband were fantastic and helped us in everything, with suggestions and they also shew us their big property driving us around with their little cuddy. We'd like to come back as soon as possible to escape from the city. Ps we loved their cute dogs and we played a lot with them

  • This cottage has all you need as well as being super cute . Claire had all the supplies ready for an outdoor fire so we cooked dinner and ate near the charming old dairy . Bed was amazingly comfy . Chocolates and bubbles a lovely surprise. We headed off bright and early to Mt Barney National Park after a blissfully peaceful evening. Highly recommended!

  • A truely fantastic night away. Being around a fire charges your batteries better than anything else. The cabin was exactly what we were looking for. So cosy, and the scenery around was brilliant. We will be back!

    Andrew2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and cosy cottage, perfect for a weekend getaway. We arrived later than expected and our host Claire had already started a fire in the fire pit out the back. We sat around and drank wine while the sun set, then retreated to the cutest and cosiest little wooden cottage for the evening. A pack of cards in the top drawer kept us entertained for the night. Would love to go back :)

    Katie2019-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous property! We were greeted by a blue heeler who entertained us (briefly) while the owners were tending to their cattle. Very stunning sunset on a peaceful, beautiful place of South-east Queensland. The hut was spotlessly clean with a super comfy bed and great quality linen. We enjoyed some time by the fire (take some marshmallows) and red wine. A fabulous night’s sleep. Friendly, accommodating hosts. Highly recommend a stay here if you want to escape the rat race.

  • Stunningly beautiful and exceptionally clean cabin in Canungra just minutes from O’Reilly’s where we were part of a wedding. From the start Kathleen have us very clear instructions, and the cabin was ready and waiting for us. We had a young baby and it was a perfect space, beautifully appointed. We brought all sorts of things with us as most apartments don’t have guaranteed amentities but it had everything we needed. Blissfully quiet and with views out to the valley that our baby could sit and watch for hours. We really loved the stay.

Shame about the creek, but no one to blame for that except Mother Nature. Would love to come back when the river is flowing! Thanks for our stay

  • This is the first time we travelled to Beaudsert. Although Grace was not at home, she still replied and helped me in time when we arrived around 10:20pm. The room is clean and quiet. We enjoyed our rest after a long time driving from Sydney. Grace prepared almost everything it might meet our need. Thank you for the wonderful experience at the beginning of 2020. Happy new year!

All this added warmth to the pastoral calm and quiet of their place amidst unique Scenic Rim which reveals the beauty of Australian soul and nature. With deep appreciation for our quality stay with Grace and family, Natasha and Konstantsa

Relax and rejuvinate at Big Bluff. Wake up to kookaburras that announce the dawn and rolling mist on the mountain tops. A cuppa on the deck watching the hares dart past, or a spot in the Polaris to check the cattle before brekky. Everyone is welcome at Big Bluff to experience a little bit of farm life.
Choose from a bushwalk to look out over Mt Lindsay or following the meandering creek. Connect with the land, and connect with the animals. Feed the chooks and collect the eggs, and just sit awhile and watch them. Catch up with a good book, pursue your creativity with your art or writing project. Switch off and let your mind to wander or slow down and truly talk to your partner or your children. Rest. Relax. A spot of paddock cricket or croquet, or try your hand at cooking damper over the campfire. Watch the light and the air change as the sun dips below the horizon, setting the clouds alight in a myriad of colours, then relax in the Bull Ring with a beer or two. The Bungalow sleeps four in a queen and two singles. It has a deck overlooking the creek.
The closest town is Kyogle (25minutes drive). The Main Street is well known for it's heritage Art Deco facades. It hosts a Farmers Market every Saturday morning. Our pick of the nearby parks is Sheepstation Creek in the Border Ranges National Park. It's an easy walk to the Brindle Creek Falls through ancient rainforest following the path of loggers of yesteryear.
  • The service provided by Jodie and Wayne was outstanding. They were great with the kids, made everyone feel very welcome. It was everything we wanted and more.

    Brianna2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jodie and Wayne have created a beautiful place for a relaxing getaway with a great experiences. Kids paradise really - interact with animals, collect eggs, learn about the cows, chase the dog chasing a hare:) Especially loved the breakfast basket with local produce, pizza oven and the Big Bluff bar area. Ride on a buggy to see the property was a great opportunity to learn about the kettle farming. Great tips from the host for the local waterfall hike. Beautiful side of the world!! Would recommend it to anyone and would like to go back one day when the creeks have water again!

    Sille2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • I wanted to book a place where my family could enjoy some disconnect from busy life. I couldn't have picked a better place. From the moment we arrived my kids were straight outdoors to the playground. We walked around the space and took it all in. They treated us to a ride and background of their farm (which was a definite highlight). The beautiful wildlife was constantly keeping us company. The home made bread, jam, butter, honey, and muslei were a delightful treat to go with their own chickens eggs for breakfast. We sat out on the porch and just enjoyed every last minute. My kids didn't spend anytime inside except to shower and sleep. And we really appreciated the brushbox falls waterfall walk recommendation from our hosts, as the hike was truly magic. We'll definitely be back again because our hosts made it extra extra special with their thoughtfulness. Thank you!

  • We had a fantastic short break at Big Bluff farm. We loved the farm tour on the Polaris. Was so nice to chill by the fire, toast some marshmallows and enjoy the serenity. Our 2 girls loved the swing and playground, seeing the chickens and collecting the eggs, and seeing the baby calves. Our bungalow was sparkling clean with thoughtful touches. Brekky basket was awesome. Thanks Jodie and Wayne!

    Danielle2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful part of the world! Jodie and Wayne’s hospitality was just amazing! The breakfast basket and freshly made pizza were beautiful. We also really enjoyed the tour around the farm. Such an amazing place and spectacular hosts!

    Breanna2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • Big Bluff is a lovely place! Stayed one night with a friend and they had everything we needed. Clean, comfortable and great breakfast hamper - complete with fresh homemade bread, eggs from their chickens and super yummy homemade condiments! Jodie also took us for a little drive around the property in their Polaris buggy (which was a real thrill for a city girl like me- riding up and down their hilly farm was probably the closest experience I’ll get to Jurassic Park!) Would love to come back some day!

    Kay2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for your hospitality, Jodie and Wayne! We loved every aspect - our child didn’t want to leave Tuppence and Buttons behind and talks about them constantly every day since we’ve left. She simply adored them. Loved all the little touches! Such a beautiful brekky hamper, I am obsessed with that passionfruit butter and wanted some for home! Loved the chutney, fresh eggs + homebaked bread, + other items - yum. Comfy bed! Beautiful and intricate artwork by your mum, Ruth, adorned countless nooks and crannies. Glorious fresh air out there that I couldn’t get enough of, along with simply incredible views. Thank you for the awesome tour of the entire property on the Polaris; it was very informative and special, the little one was truly RAPT with it + the energetic tour-sidekick. ;) Thankful for a memory-filled, unique getaway that filled my heart with peace. Will have to come back again soon.

  • We couldn't have asked for lovlier hosts. The property is stunning, the cottage is gorgeous, and Jodie and Wayne were amazing hosts during our stay. I highly recommend Big Bluff. I'll definitely be heading back.

  • We stayed at Ripples just after Christmas. It was one picturesque location and all the history of the farm gave us goosebumps. The lack of mobile signal and television only adds to the charm and really let's you connect. Recommend it highly

This is a truely lovely spot with beautiful gardens, gorgeous wildlife (especially the Koala), and a massive swimming pool! The accommodation was so comfortable with everything you could need and more (including air conditioning) . Lynette provided us with a fantastic breakfast selection and a home baked cake, only wish we stayed longer to enjoy all of the food. I will be recommending River Run to everyone. A huge thank you to Lynette and Colin for their warm and welcoming hospitality. 5 stars in every way ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • River’s Run was a lovely place. The Cabin was super stylish and comfortable, with great air con for hot summer afternoons. We enjoyed collecting the chicken’s eggs and feeding the turkeys, peacocks and guinea fowl too. Even spotted the resident koalas. Our hosts were extremely hospitable and the pool was fantastic. We will definitely come back again. Very peaceful and relaxed stay - thanks!
