Laos Vacation Rentals

Just booked in Laos

Villa Bankhoy sits on its own small peninsula, at the confluence of two rivers: the majestic Mekong and the small, charming Nam Dong. A French-Lao Colonial house, surrounded by a landscaped garden, private pool and incredible river views.
Villa Bankhoy features 3 large bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a living room and wrap around terraces. The kitchen is fully equipped and the local market is a short bike ride away. The basement opens on the pool and garden, and features a yoga room as well as a TV room that can easily be converted into an additional bedroom for 2~4 extra people, taking occupancy to 8 as per listing details (or even 10 on request). Household staff is in daily for breakfast and housekeeping. A caretaker then takes over and is on site for the night shift.
Villa Bankhoy is located on the banks of the Mekong River in Ban Khoy village, 3 km from Luang Prabang town center.
  • Just back from a very tranquil week at this villa - the customer service was impeccable...and sitting out on the veranda, enjoying breakfast, whilst the Mekong river flows by is a must for everyone!

  • The house is fabulous, we had a family of five with plenty of room. Another family could have easily joined us. The gardens and pool superbly maintained. The views the best I have ever enjoyed. Overlooking the Mekong River plus a beautiful mountain backdrop. The service staff are fantastic, more than the site suggests providing breakfast, laundry, cleaning and overall help with arrangements. A wonderful experience, enjoyed by adults and children alike.

We all felt relaxed and rejuvenated after our stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone it's a must !!Luang Prabang is quaint and the old colonial buildings really make this a very special place to visit with plenty to do and see around town. • Oh my! The pictures don't even capture how amazing this place is. This was more like staying at a five-star hotel than your typical airbnb experience. The house itself is just lovely, and was perfect for our group (traveling with my husband's parents and our toddler). We spent a great deal of time just relaxing on the various (very well furnished) balconies enjoying the phenomenal the view. Mr. Tuey and the staff at the house treated us like royalty. From our seamless pickup at the airport, to arranging dinner to be delivered, to the delicious made-to-order breakfasts, they anticipated any need we might have and took amazing care of us! We loved the free bike rentals (including one with a baby seat!); it was an easy way to get into town, just a short ride away. We also appreciated the offers for complementary van transportation into town, and we were always able to easily find tuk tuks, so we were able to get around without any problems at all. This is an incredible find. We *highly* recommend it!

  • This is hands down the best place I've ever stayed in my life. Nicer than any hotel, cozier than any friends or families house I've ever visited. My GF and I spent a weekend in Luang Prabang with another couple. We typically didn't make it more than five minutes without looking around, laughing, and talking about how outrageous this place is. I know how good the pictures look, and they truly do not do it justice. We even skipped out on a day of exploring LP and just hung out in the pool taking in the incredible scenery on the Mekong. The pool also has two waterfalls, the larger of the two lights up at night. It's just ridiculous how cool it looks and how relaxing it is. There are 3 bedrooms with their own beautiful bathrooms. On the bottom floor there is a huge room with the largest couch I've ever seen for more people to sleep. I really think it's like 5 beds put together in a U-shape to make a couch. The design of the house is remarkably well thought out. There is so much seating throughout the house, it really makes you feel that the place was designed with hanging out with family and friends as the top priority. Now on to the HOUSE STAFF! Mr. Tuey and Mr. Tok and their team took such great care of us. Every single request we had the immediately took care of. I think they went on 4 different beer runs for us! They cooked an outstanding breakfast for us every morning and will prepare any meals you'd like for lunch and dinner (you order from a set menu from a nearby restaurant). So in case it isn't obvious, we very highly recommend you book this house! It only takes $5 and ten minutes in a tuk tuk to get in to town, the location is fantastic. Eric was great with booking the house as was Ms. Dee Dee, who handled the local arrangements. We certainly plan on returning very soon. Good luck!

  • We had an INCREDIBLE experience at this house. The house was amazing as were the views. We loved the fresh cooked breakfast every morning and our house manager was so helpful. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that we had staff on site at any time during the day and they were so helpful in arranging transportation, tours, reservations and more. We highly highly recommend this house. Outstanding!

  • The villa was absolutely stunning & in a prime sunset location overlooking the Mekong river and mountain ranges. The pictures do not really it any justice. The villa staff went out of their way to cater to all our needs & super friendly & polite. It was by far the best hospitality service in the whole of Southeast Asia we've had and completely made our holiday! The breakfasts were also pretty awesome too!

    Trang2016-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived later than expected into Luang Prabang due to a delay with Lao Airways, nevertheless Khamphanh was at the airport to greet us and take us on the short drive to the villa. Having arrived at the villa it was as good as the photos, on the banks of the Mekong, we promptly opened a bottle of wine and settled in around the pool while discussing with the staff our plans for the next few days. The staff took our breakfast orders for the next day and we were delighted to rise to a full cooked breakfast prior to heading to Kuang Si waterfalls, all arranged by Khamphanh. The next few days followed in a similar manner. We never got to meet Eric but he checked in by email to make sure everything was in hand and we had his mobile number if needed. All in all it was a great trip both for the laid back and spectacularly scenic Luang Prabang and the wonderful house on the Mekong which made it hard to leave for our various adventures. I would strongly recommend the villa over a hotel, especially for a family or small group.

  • We loved staying at Nouths place! We chose this place because of the reviews, and it lived up to our expectations. The food was amazing, and we were always surrounded by their cats and dogs! We will definitely go back someday!

  • This is one of those Airbnbs where the moment you step meet your host, you mentally decide you should have booked double the number of days. I was supposed to stay 1 day but stayed 3 and was reluctant to leave. Mouth's bungalow is a perfect spot for those that want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the town center while still having access if you want. It's a cut of paradise at an absurdly low price (get it while it lasts!) - the food is great, rooms were fantastic and for those worried about no A/C I couldn't feel the difference even during the hot season. I can't wait to come back again to show my friends, strongly recommended!!!

    James2016-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Lao Valhalla feels like a little oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre yet it is only a 10-15 minute walk to town. The property is beautiful with the pretty cabins set in lush gardens of banana and papaya trees. The deck, which is covered in colourful comfy cushions and overlooks rice paddies ams limestone karsts, makes for an excellent chill out area after a day's exploring. Nouth's traditional Lao menu is both delicious and wholesome and is very reasonably priced. Her cocktails are strong and tasty and the homemade Lao Lao whisky is warming after a wet season soaking. Nouth is the perfect host, welcoming you like an old friend and going out of her way to accommodate you. I would 100% recommend Lao Valhalla! Thank you for a wonderful and memorable stay Nouth!

    Caroline2015-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Nouth was an amazing host, & Lao Valhalla is gorgeous! It's tucked away from the town a bit, which we enjoyed, but there are bikes available at no charge and the mountain views are stunning. Nouth and co. were super kind & gracious, helping with rides and arranging our transfer to Vientiane. Would love to return!

    Anne2015-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Nouth, and her bungalows, are simply incredible. Please stay here, you won't regret it for a moment. We were only able to stay one night, and wish we had so much longer. We'll be back. Lao Valhalla is located just outside of what's considered 'downtown' Vang Vieng, a short walk along the river and across a bridge, then down a lovely road. The place itself it beautiful, with separate unique bungalows with private bathrooms, a garden, and a restaurant/lounge area. It really feels like a haven in the middle of the forest. We were able to rent bicycles and go exploring, as well as spend time walking around the main tourist part of town. Nouth is a lovely human, and a great host! She was very responsive in communicating with us before and during our short stay, and even picked us up from town when we arrived. Not only did she arrange our transportation to Luang Prabang, and cook delicious food (get her rice soup for breakfast!!!), but we also got to chat with her for a while over her mother's homemade whisky - it was quite honestly the highlight of our short stay. We're already counting down until we can come back to Laos and visit Nouth again.

    Kat2016-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Lao Valhalla. Nouth is wonderful and so friendly, always has a smile on her face. Her staff and uncle are also very welcoming and nice. There are six private bungalows set up in a beautiful garden that she created on her own, and made it completely unique compared to any other guesthouse. The bungalows have a big comfortable bed, fans, wardrobe, desk, and en suite toilet & shower. Also Nouth cooks all the delicious Lao meals at Lao Valhalla, and don't be scared to drink the whiskey shot with scorpion! It's homemade and goes down very smooth! The town is a short walk or bike ride away. Unfortunately the free bike rentals were unavailable while we were there because they were getting fixed. Nouth can help provide information about the area and book bus tickets at a low cost. There are so many different treks to explore caves and swimming holes if you walk (or ride a bike) toward the blue lagoon from her place. We didn't run into many tourists during the treks because they were all at the blue lagoon! Don't hesitate to book at Lao Valhalla - you'll feel right at home in a wonderful, peaceful place in the scenic mountains, and get away from the backpackers in town.

  • This bungalows Surrounded by many trees. There are only 6 rooms and every room is separated from one another so we are private. Nouth is an owner. She was very kind and give us a lot of advices. Incredible jungle experience 10km from the city centre, staying and dining with English host and Lao hostess (born-in-a-cave daughter of revolutionary aide to the Red Prince) immersed in Lao history: amazing house, beautiful garden, sublime pool
The house is surrounded by jungle and sits atop a pond. The most frequent expression from guests as they enter is ‘Wow’. It has the wow factor. The house is spacious, with two bedrooms - the hosts' and the Suite which is available to guests and has a double-bedded room and a day-room with a day-bed which can be used to accommodate a third person. The house is linked to the outdoors by the deck over the pond and the outside gallery upstairs, running the length of the house and fringed with orchids.
We are 10km out of the city centre, in a rural village with a beautiful Wat (temple) and friendly neighbours. The village is developing as a residential area, but density is very low and natural vegetation still predominates, especially in our garden! This is still a very peaceful area, with the main sounds the noise of the birds, cicadas, waterfall, etc - as everywhere, there are cocks crowing and dogs occasionally barking.
  • Mike & Xoukiet, you are the best hosts I have ever stayed with. I rate you 10/10!!! From collecting my personally at the airport, providing excellent meals, the brilliant G&T's, the city tour, the advice, the gorgeous garden, the spacious & clean room, you exceed yourselves. Your attention to detail is outstanding The best B&B I have ever stayed at Keep up the wonderful work, it does not go unnoticed

  • What can i say... this Jungle House should be number 1 of Vientiane's accomodations ! I spend 2 magicals days thanks to the beauty of the house and the garden and thanks to Mike and Xoukiet. It is the best place to stay if you need some relaxing time and also if you want to know more about the history of Laos and Vientiane, Mike is a very great guide! And i have to say that dinners and breakfasts were delicious! :)

    Camille2014-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Jungle House was an amazing introduction to Laos. Mike was a very accommodating and friendly host and gave us a great canter through Laos and Vientiane history. The house is very homely and cosy - the room and bed was comfortable and airy. The home cooked Laotian dinner meals were the highlight! We also loved the outdoor balcony/sitting area overlooking the pond - relaxing and tranquil start to our Laos trip. Overall, a fantastic stay and we both thoroughly enjoyed it - thanks so much!

  • This was my second time to stay at Jungle house. Xoukiet and Mike welcomed me so warmly so I felt like coming back home. They are amazing host making sure your stay is just perfect and great story tellers having so much interesting and inspiring story. It was very precious and grateful experience under the umbrella of these warm hearted couple. And Jungle house offered just what I needed. Peaceful greenery relaxation. Xoukiet's dinner was so delicious and Mike's G&T was so tasty just like last time. Thank you very much for having me again :)

  • We can only echo the sentiments of all the many guests waxing lyrical in the reviews below! We had a delightful time from start to finish. Jungle House is every bit as beautiful as it looks in the pictures, striking a perfect balance between modern comfort and harmony with nature (you’ll be sharing your accommodation with geckos!) What made the experience so very special was the extraordinary hospitality and warmth of Mike and Xoukiet , who made us feel completely at home from the moment we arrived. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and it is clear that they take a genuine delight in getting to know their guests. As much as we enjoyed exploring Vientiane, dinner and drinks with Mike and Xoukiet were the undoubted highlight of the trip. As well as the fantastic local food (not to mention generous drink servings!), you’d be hard-pushed to meet two such fantastic hosts and raconteurs, and you cannot help but be impressed with their dedication to helping the less fortunate. Cannot recommended highly enough!

  • A wonderful stay with Mike and Xoukiet. They were the perfect hosts and their house is tranquil and beautiful. Highly recommended!

  • Very positive! Mike picked us up from the bus drop off and dropped us at the airport. In between times we felt like we were relaxing in a friend's home and we really enjoyed chatting with our interesting hosts. Stay 2 nights if you can!

  • Laos home stay at the Jungle house I can't see how my stay could have been any nicer.Staying with Mike and Xoukiet was more than wonderful. First off Mike found me out of 750 foreigners at immigration, then waited a horrible amount of time (please let him know if you will be doing a visa run, I guess I forgot to mention this). He drove me to his home which was better than the pictures. I was in amazement walking into the beautifully constructed art filled welcoming home. Mike sat me down, served me a cold beer, turned on the fan and I relaxed, overlooking the beautiful garden and lily pond. Mike is a people person with so many interesting stories to tell. I was given a tour and shown to my cottage ( more like another beautifully constructed high ceiling wooden house). My room was Devine, tasteful furniture and decor, a/c, nice sheets, sweet bathroom and a kitchen with cold drinks in the fridge. I relaxed and then went for cocktail hour. Great conversation with the other guest as well. Then a fabulous typical Lao meal. I was wanting to try Laap and fish Laap was served! Xoukiet prepared amazing courses complete with red and white wine. Mikes stories are captivating. I just can't say enough positive things about this homestay, honestly the hospitality is over the top. Mike took me to town to finish the visa process! I was given a house phone to check in for a pick up! I was lucky to get another night at Jungle House. I am really impressed and will always remember these 2 days. On my last day we went to COPE, I encourage everyone to make this stop. Mike and Xoukiet were absolutely those kind of people that the world needs more of. I spent my down time strolling the garden, sketching and then taking a dip in pool. Thank you so much.

  • If you're looking for a serene and tranquil hideaway, in between Vientiane and Luang Prabang, and away from the busy backpacking area of Vang Vieng, look no further. This place is perfection! Mehdi and his team are exceptional hosts, who were incredibly welcoming, friendly and accommodating. We were collected by Mehdi as the minibus passed the village on the way to Vang Vieng and whisked away to this beautiful place. Our bungalow (1 of 4) overlooked the lake and mountains, and sunset/sunrise was breathtaking. We must've taken a hundred photos of the view as the sky changed colour, and spent hours just watching the fishing boats pass by. The room was clean and well presented, as pictured, with windows overlooking the view. The food was amazing. Highly recommend the seafood curry! The wine was great too! There was a warm atmosphere in the evenings with the other guests sitting and chatting over drinks - although take a hoodie as it was cool when the sun went down. We had intended to go to the sights at Vang Vieng but were so taken by this place that we didn't leave the resort! Instead we went kayaking and swimming, and relaxing in the private seclusion of our bungalow. Mehdi also drove us to the bus station in Vang Vieng on our departure for a small fee of 200,000 kip for the 30 min journey. Overall this was one of the best places we've ever stayed (having traveled a lot of SE Asia), and are very grateful to Mehdi and the team for hosting us, we loved it. Thank you!

  • Green view is perfect place for rest and enjoy. !There are so much things to enjoy (including food) and every ppl there are so happy. Resort has magical power that makes ppl jappy. You should use swimming pool in early morning! Its view is so awesome that wanna make you cry. You can see fisshing boats floating over the lake and wonderful clouds slowly coloring into sunshine. Also it has fridge and nice hot water and soft blankets. **I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IF YOU LIKE SEAFOOD, YOU SHOULD EAT 'PHAD PHEI WITH SEA FOOD' AT GREEN VIEW RESORT'S REASTAURANT. 가시게되면 PHAD PHEI WITH SEA FOOD! 꼭 드셔보세요

  • Great place to stay such beautiful surroundings, and very relaxing environment. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is lovely. You can use kayaks to get around to neighbouring islands too. Friendly dogs too!

    Tanya2016-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here during the low season (end of April 2017) for three nights. The resort was exactly as described & photos were an accurate depiction of the property. We were surprised at the water level though, it was incredibly lower than expected -- only mentioning this because we're anglers from the Midwest who brought travel rods and learned quickly that all the big fish were probably in the deeper open waters. Plus, most fisherman here in Laos net fish so we were ill equipped with our limited bait/tackle! We wished we could have visited during the high season to get the fullness of the surrounding waters, but it's still a relaxing and beautiful locale nonetheless. This place is a good 30 min away from Vang Vieng, so expect to pay $150K - $200K in Lao Kip to grab a songteow to get you here. It's helpful to have a map of the resort handy & Medhi's phone # to give your driver just in case. Thankfully, the driver we found was familiar with the place and I speak/understand Lao so we were able to communicate. The owners & staff were very friendly, welcoming, and accommodating -- if you needed anything, all you had to do was ask. They serve a complimentary breakfast of eggs, bacon, toast, and coffee in the morning and their lunch/dinner offerings were good and fairly priced. My only feedback is similar to other previous guests, which is to maybe consider offering guests a daily shuttle to/from the resort from Vang Vieng (which is where I assume most guests are coming from) because the resort is definitely tucked away from the main road. There is a little village about 10 min near the resort, but there aren't many tuktuk/songteow roaming around & no ATMs or banks in the village (in case you need to withdrawal more money, which I almost needed to). Upon check out, they do provide a free songteow ride back to the nearby village and drop you off on the main road. Our next destination was Vientiane, so they dropped us off at the gas station (aka bus stop) and we were able to grab an a/c minivan within 5 min (cost of $50K kip per person). We had our laptops with us, so I was able to plug in for a bit everyday at the restaurant area (which is the only WIFI connection & it's pretty good for Laos). We took daily swims in the private pool and were the only guests at the property for 2 out of the 3 days of our stay. The free kayaks are also a nice touch & on a cooler day we took them out to attempt some fishing (no such luck on catching anything though). Our favorite part of the stay were the very sweet dogs on the property: Lychee (the baby girl), Sushi (my favorite cause she's a lovable chunky mama beast), and Papa dog (that's not his real name, but I forgot...

    Vilay2017-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • The view is outstanding! We are travelling for 2 months in SE Asia and being here felt like a mini-holiday in our trip. It's so peaceful and 100% relax. Swimming, eating and waking up with the lake view is amazing. The free kayaks were a nice extra. The owners are helpful and want you to have a enjoyable time.

    Jolien2016-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Mehdi and his brother were amazing. They picked us up from the main street and then hat a lovely house-shaped boat to pick us up in order to take us to their lovely resort which is located on an island on the Nam Ngum Lake close to Vang Vieng (approx. 20 km). This is the best place to deeply relax and enjoy the pure nature of Laos. The resort is very nice, has beautiful big rooms with an absolutely stunning view, and and additionally offers a very good restaurant, a pool, a ping pong table, as well as kayaks for rent. On our Kayak trip we got to see the 'monkey island', the village close by, and many fishermen at work. A day trip to Vang Vieng will take you about 30 minutes by car, a little long with a motor bike.

    Simon2015-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • We have travelled for nearly 2 months around Asia, and this was beyond doubt the best place to stay. Everything you need to totally relax and feel you are having a treat. The pool, the kayaking, the peace. Exceptionally helpful hosts.

  • Our group had such a wonderful time visiting Loas. The entire trip exceeded our already high expectations - and it's all thanks to the lovely hosts Somsack and Virginie - and their beautiful home/property. It was fun to live ~10 mins tuk tuk ride outside of town. Got to see an area of town we wouldn't typically stumble across on a short trip. And it was always easy and affordable to get a ride.

    Tricia2017-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Somsack's place is one of the best airbnb's I have stayed in. He made our trip so easy arranging travel to and from the airport and providing us with amazing accommodations. I would absolutely stay here again. Tuk Tuks are an easy and cheap way to get to and from town. Look no further if you are looking for a beautiful home in Luang Prabang.

  • We had an incredible, though short, stay in Luang Prabang. Somsack and Virginie were great hosts and the house was perfect. We arrived a little late during the Lao New Year so Somsack shared a nice dinner with us the first night at his house. Our kids made fast friends with their son, Kenny, and we ended up spending much of our time together -- even dining one evening at Somsack's restaurant. The house itself is large, cool and full of history. It was also nice to be in the village instead of right in town. Somsack provided a phone so it was easy to call a tuk tuk driver whenever we needed for the short ride to town. I can't recommend Ebony House enough. We plan to return as soon as we can.

  • Very nice stay for the whole family at Somsack place!

    Mathieu2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Somsacks place is beautiful. Somsack and Virginie were excellent hosts and helped us out with anything we needed. Would definitely stay again if I return to Luang Prabang!

  • Ebony house is the epitome of a traditional Lao home. It's beauty can only be appreciated in person so if you think the pictures are beautiful you must book a visit. Somsak is a great host and does everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. We arrived a few hours later than expected due to flight delays from Thailand. On arrival Somsak was waiting with our transportation and due to the late arrival Somsak ran out and brought our entire family a delicious traditional Lao dinner. It was more than we could have hoped for. Why stay close to the hustle and bustle of town when you can enjoy Luang Prabang the way it was meant to be experienced; traditional Lao style. Highly recommended and we will most definitely returning in the future

This unique house is located almost at the top of the historic peninsula, where the Khan river meets the Mekong, in short walking distance to all sights and a small garden from where you can chat with the monks while enjoying your breakfast.
The house is very quiet, situated within some ancient temples. There is no street noise at all and perfect to relax on your terrace or in your garden after exploring this wonderful town.
The most stunning feature of the house is the view from the large terrace right into historic Wat Khili temple. Every afternoon you can witness the service and meditation of the monks.
  • The location is fantastic! Tucked away in a beautiful alley in the picturesque old town, but just far enough out that it's quiet and not so touristy. The house is pretty quirky: prepare for a set of steep stairs, a strangely high kitchen sink and unreachable crockery shelves! I was hoping to be able to be a bit self sufficient and do some cooking, but I couldn't work out the hotplate thing, and in any case it was only one burner - not really good for cooking a family meal. It didn't really matter though because you could get a good, cheap meal by walking up the street 2 minutes. We hired bikes for the week we there which worked out well for getting food and taking the dirty washing to the laundry. We loved both the outdoor balcony upstairs and the paved garden area. The kids loved playing in the rain in the garden! Overall, it was pretty good experience, though the house isn't really set up for longish stays. I still recommend it!

  • Perfect location in a beautiful wooden home. I almost do not want anyone else to know about it!! Damien is a perfect gentleman and is willing to accomodate your needs.

    Richard2015-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Damian was a terrific host sorting out taxis to and from the airport, arranging a river cruise and giving useful advice about the city. The house itself is a little slice of history. It was built by the German Consul as a tribute to the most beautiful city in Asia, just after the millennium. Its inspired by traditional Lao architecture and uses authentic materials in its construction. It has everything you need - basic kitchen, shower room with hot water, sitting areas, 2 very comfortable double beds and a private garden. The location is superb, in the heart of the old town. You are a minutes walk from Vat Xieng Thong, in my opinion the most beautiful and one of the oldest in the city. There is no internet provided but you can buy a Beeline internet sim at the airport - 20,000 kip for 3 days unlimited internet access (15K for subsequent days). We were very impressed with the speeds which were fast enough to watch video. We stayed for 4 nights, and wished we had booked for a week. Luang Prabang is a beautiful city, the people are laid back, polite and friendly and its a great place to relax and slow down. I was last here 15 years ago, and it was wonderful to come back and see the city thriving.

    Julian2016-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • I had a wonderful time staying in this house @Luang Prabang. The house is located near the quiet area and the temple is in front of the house. You can hear an beautiful Buddhist scriptures in the evening from the temple. Luang Prabang famous temples are very near(10minutes walk) and river Mekong is near too so it is easy to go to different villages via boat like whisky village. Have a nice trip with this special house!

    Tomomasa2016-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very quiet place, surrounded by temples. Very nice place.

    Steven2015-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • This home was probably the best Airbnb that I've experienced thus far. It was incredibly clean and the location was perfect for exploring the darling town of Luang Prabang. It's a great size for a group of people, and the porch in the morning and evening is incredible. I didn't meet Damian, as he was out of town but Vone took incredible care of me and my friends. She insured that we were picked up from the airport upon arrival, and answered any and every question that we had. It was such a lovely and easy experience in that home.

    Kristen2016-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and house close to main street and temples. Wonderful patio to chill out on in the evenings.

    Tomas2015-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Damian has been a great host, taking care of things when needed. He welcomed us at the boat pier then met us at the home right after. The house is in the perfect setting in Luang Prabang old city. It is very pleasant to wander around from here and come back after a day out. Lot of offering on food/drinks around and only a few minutes away. Bedding was comfortable, we slept well. Lower floor is perfect by daytime when it's hot, and upper at night when it is getting a bit cooler. I just think that maybe kitchen should be a little be more equiped as it will not be suitable to prepare meals easily. I would highly recommand the place for anyone wanting to visit this gorgeous city.

  • We had a great stay! After two nights in town we wanted to stay our last night over the river and this was a great choice. Our bungalow was very cute and comfortable, with a porch looking out over the garden. Nouth was really great, she drove us to a bike rental place, and to the bus to Vientiane. The restuarant was really good and the included breakfast was an added bonus. A really peaceful getaway and a gorgeous location!

    Liz2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Farm stay, clean, excellent host, good food.

    Kapil 2017-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Lao Valhalla! All of the other reviews are completely accurate. We are so glad that we stayed outside of town in the beautiful scenery and away from the backpackers. The only downside was the toll bridge to get out of town once you go in for either an ATM or more restaurant options. Nouth did a great job of making sure we had little need to go into town though since she picked us up at the bus station, dropped us off at the bus station and arranged a scooter brought right to the bungalows! Her food was also yummy and reasonably priced so there was very little need to go into town. Breakfast included was a bonus and also delicious with lots of options! We would stay here again if we ever come back to Vang Vieng!

    Nicholas2016-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay here. Nouth is a great host. She helped to make our stay as homely as possible and organised anything we wanted to do. We wish we could take this bungalow with us on the rest of our travels. Friendly, clean, beautiful scenery and food .. what more could you want?! Thank you Nouth!

    Lisa2015-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • A truly spectacular place to stay. Nouth is a caring and honest host. Accommodation is basic, but is perfect for those who want to disconnect from the stress of technology. The accom is surrounded by Rice paddies, picturesque mountains, and is a short ride from vang vieng. Highly recommend.

    Jordan2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the quiet accommodation out of the noisy town. Huts were very clean and comfy beds. Food tasty and simple. The host was so helpful and nothing was too much fuss....

    Vanessa2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lao Valhala was great! The place is very clean, set in a tranquil and serene garden. The dining area faces the mountains and limestones - perfect superb scenery while enjoying the nice food prepared by Nouth. Nouth is very warm and friendly, definitely an awesome host! :)

    Rachel2016-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for three nights in total. Before arriving in Vang Vieng, we received an email from Nouth telling us that she could send someone to collect us from the bus stop; however, we did not have a local SIM though but decided to email instead. We didn't expect that to work but it did! The location is a bit out of town and around a 25-30 minute walk, or 50,000 kip in a tuktuk at night. The road is dark but quiet and safe, the barking dogs are mostly domestic and are friendly enough. Being located out of town does mean it is surrounded by excellent views and is on the way to the Blue Lagoon, so you should not have any problems being dropped off or picked up on that particular tour route. For everything else, expect to be asked to meet the tuktuk/minivan at the bridge. For this, Nouth is a gift from above as she is always willing to provide you with a lift to the bridge if she has the time. Nouth is a wonderful and friendly host who is always willing to have a chat with you. If you are lucky, she may even share some homemade lao lao with you, some with a surprise in the bottle. We got scorpion. There is also a restaurant where you can have breakfast (included), lunch and dinner. The curry is especially good! Finally, Nouth is the proud owner of three lovely dogs so pet lovers are welcome. My girlfriend is scared of dogs but grew to love these. Just beware of the barking if you arrive back late at night. We loved our stay here and would definitely return if I ever find myself heading back to Vang Vieng. Evidently, other's do too as we met some return customers!

  • We had an amazing stay at the Golden Lotus, so much so that we stayed another night! Bill is an exceptional host; caring, helpful and made exploring the beautiful town of Luang Prabang so easy. From Bill, we hired pushbikes to get around the town to see all the magnificent temples and a motorbike out to Kuang Si waterfall (which is a must!), otherwise the location cannot be beaten and you can see most main attractions on foot. Bill even booked our transfers onwards for a good price. Seeing and participating in the Monks Alms Giving Ceremony was also very special. Thank-you so much for having us, we would only stay with you for our next visit!

    Louise2016-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • It was great staying at Golden Lotus. The place is well located, you can visit everything by walking. Bill is a very nice host. He helped us at anytime, he organised for us a trip to the waterfalls and always received us with refreshing drinks!

  • Golden Lotus was a great place to stay in Luang Prabang. It is located close to all major sites. It is very clean and inviting. Bill is a very attentive host and can help make arrangements to different sites located out of the city center.

    Jeffrey2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Overall we had an enjoyable experience, but there were a number of issues. Our host was friendly and helpful. The Golden Lotus is a nice place with a great location (middle of town on a quiet side street). The wifi worked well and the breakfast was enjoyable. We booked online through airbnb. After accepting our booking we were informed that we could only stay 2 nights, and the remaining nights we would need to stay at an associated guest house. We asked for more details, but didn't get any. We agreed based on their assurances (and previous positive reviews) and our need for good internet. We were offered an airport transfer for our arrival, however the driver was not there and after waiting we had to take a taxi. Our host provided information and a welcome drink on arrival. The room we were given was not the room we booked on airbnb. It was nice, but it had two single beds. After our two nights we were moved to the other guest house (Namkhan Riverside Hotel). It is located a short walk from downtown on a road with more noise. The first night we were given a room facing the road and it was loud. We asked to move but we were informed there was nothing else available. We stayed the night and were considering leaving because we were unable to sleep well. The next day we were moved to a room on the back of the hotel with a balcony overlooking the river. It was quiet and a much nicer experience.

  • I had the most amazing time in Golden Lotus... First because Luang Pragang is amazing. Also because the place is nice, very clean, safe and adorably cute. But specially because how Bill and everyone there is so nice and kind. I wish I had stayed longer because Laos is a beautiful country with even more beautiful people. ຂໍຂອບໃຈທ່ານ!

  • Bill was a wonderful host who was very helpful. We enjoyed our stay at his airbnb because it was it a great location, the morning market was at the front entrance and from there, we could walk to many main points in the town. Bill included us in the Alms Giving Ceremony which was very special. Thanks Bill for the wonderful experience in Luang Prabang.

    Mai2016-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • The location was excellent - Waking up in the midst of the Morning Market and a stone's throw away from the Night Market. Bill is an excellent and ever-friendly AirBNB host that makes you feel at home and assists you in every possible way. The room was clean and tidy. The breakfast was delicious and the Alms giving Ceremony was humbling. It is not just a guesthouse but a heartfelt stay with the locals - both Bill and his brother's family. Thank you Bill for your kind hospitality and I will definitely come back to stay for you when I am back in the future!

Café Toui Homestay is in the heart of the historic district of Luang Prabang. We're just half a block from the Nam Khan River, and its seasonal bamboo bridge is at our street. The main street of the Unesco protected city is at the other end of our block. We have 6 guestrooms, each with private bath in our traditional Luang Prabang house. All have beautiful shiny wood floors and spacious tiled bathrooms with glass enclosed showers. All rooms are independent with the amenities of a small hotel.
Our six rooms can be rented individually or larger groups can take several rooms. We have three ground floor guest rooms and three more on the first floor. We are a great spot for couples or single travellers in the heart of the village life of Luang Prabang and a few minutes stroll from the activities of the night market and restaurants.
Luang Prabang's historic district is a peninsula formed by our two rivers. We are just half a block from the Nam Khan (the little river) and a short stroll from the end of the peninsula where it meets the Mekong (the big river). It is a neighborhood of wats (temples), small shops, and local homes. We are also just half a block from the main street of the peninsula with immediate access to restaurants, bars, shopping, and the night market.
  • The location of Toui's homestay is perfect. Right in the middle of town. The room is very comfortable and the breakfast every morning is delicious. I highly recommend eating at Toui's restaurant - it is definitely one of the best restaurants in town.

    Cathy2017-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent central location. The staff was very warm and welcoming and always happy to lend a helping. Eating at the restaurant and trying local dishes each day was a definite highlight. We look forward to our next visit in Luang Prabang.

  • It's cool and hip, we will return. It was great that Tui send us a taxi to the airport. The lathe checkout was a big help.

  • Staff was incredibly kind. Room was very nice with excellent AC :) So close to everything. Breakfast was amazing and we came back for dinner which had us drooling with every bite. Loved it!

  • Apart from being the #1 restaurant in Luang Prabang, Toui is a hospitable and attentive host. He provided complimentary Laotian or English breakfast daily, and the Laotian soup (kinda like pho with fresh herbs and veges) was so yum and definitely a "cleansing" start to the day. Head out for shopping, Kuang Si or Elephant Village Sanctuary for the day, and come back for an amazing dinner. The lamb stir fry was to die for, and he has the best Laotian mojito! Be sure to give him a tip for his hospitality, and don't forget to tip the cleaner for keeping the room super clean with complimentary daily water bottles, fresh towels, and soap. Toui definitely contributed to my unforgettable stay in Luang Prabang. Thanks Toui.

  • Toui guesthouse located in a very good spot that connect to several attractions in a walking distance. The room is quite ample based on the price charge and it comes with a large bathroom that all in the good shape. Service level here is quite high and the staffs are quite attentive to you. If you look for a good stay with good value of money, this might be a good choice.

    Marcus2017-06-28T00:00:00Z

  • Toui's place is an amazing getaway, even being in the center of the Main Street. The room was extremely beautiful and in a very good location for getting to the Main Street and the Mekong and Khan rivers. The staff was also extremely nice, even with only a little English is spoken. With no hesitation, the most pleasant surprise was breakfast! It was amazing and a great introduction to Lao cuisine. Toui was able to arrange transportation for us from the airport and was extremely understanding when our flight was canceled and we were late to arrive. We truly appreciate Toui and the entire staff at the guesthouse. We certainly recommend for anyone who is looking for a great bed and breakfast in central Luang Prabang. Thank you, Toui!!!

Nice bright room with wooden floor, french window overlooking the Namkhan River. Modern bathroom with bathtub. Separated from the house, private entrance. Located 15 minutes walking from the night market in a very quite neigbourhood. Beautifull view
We are a French couple with 2 kids who are running a little hotel named Cold River. Our house is just next door the hotel, on the Namkhan river side. It is a beautifull wooden house. Attention, 2 young children on site
Very quite neibourhood. The hotel and the house is located at the end of a little cobbled street. 3 min walking from Wat Vishoun, 15 minutes from the night market and 5 minutes from Phousy Hill
  • Just what would you expect based on the photos and the description. Location is really good; the house is at the end of a small and charming street, facing Nam Khan River of which you get a fantastic view from the room. It's far enough from the main sights to be a quiet retreat, but not far enough to warrant a tuk-tuk to go into town; everything is easy to reach by foot. The room itself is simple, cosy and feels new. Rudi was there to welcome us and ready to give us any info we may need about the city. The breakfast - served at the guesthouse next door - wasn't plenty, but it was delicious and served by an enthusiastic staff. It really felt like both the homestay and the guesthouse are run by people who love to do that; that love shows. We would be happy to go back!

  • We loved our stay at Cold River Homestay! Luang Prabang is such a gorgeous little town and we felt that, due to Marion and Rudy’s hospitality, we were able to fully experience it during our 10 days there. The clean, well maintained room is semi attached to their beautiful home right on the Nam Khan river within easy walking distance to everything. Or you can take a tuk tuk, there's always a few very close by. Marion and Rudy have been in Luang Prabang for some time, they are very knowledgeable about the area and a great source of advice about what to do and see. Since they own the guesthouse next door, this is where you will have your breakfast which is delicious and of good quality and served by their super helpful and friendly staff. Their wifi service is excellent by Luang Prabang standards and was never a problem during the time we were there. We had a great time and are delighted to have met Marion and Rudy and their two children. As the other reviews and five stars attest you can't go wrong choosing to stay here.

  • At a part of Luang Prabang, where soothing and relaxed rest is fully possible. Great full view of lush green and Nam Khan river from authentic apartment with all amenities needed. Comfortable king size bed, upscale bathroom, both fan and AC and good breakfast with a real coffee. Internet was fast. Marion and her husband were always available, yet allowing privacy at a full. I enjoyed my stay at there home.

  • Perfect place to stay to be away from crowded and touristy area. Vety quiet and calm environment and very safe indeed. Marion and her Hunsband is very friendly and really grateful to choose their Home to stay. Scenic river view, very comfortable room and Love their bathub. Perfect place to stay in Luang Prabang. Exactly as what pictured in Airbnb. They serve lovely breakfast at the next door(cold river). :)

  • Thank you Marion and Rudi for this wonderful place. I spent 10 days in this super house in a very central and picturesque part of Luang Prabang! The attractive room ( part of the family home) is huge, looks right over the river Khan, has insect screens, air con, fan, fridge, and lovely bathroom. A nutritious and healthy breakfast is enjoyed at the guest house next door, filtered water, laundry available. Bikes are available and transport can be arranged for tours, travel connections. There is a lovely family and community vibe which contributes to a genuine holiday! I walked everywhere: great restaurants, evening activities, the main road area are all very close by. I heartily recommend a stay here! I will certainly be returning!

  • Staying at Marion's wonderful airbnb was like a dream! River view, comfortable bed, big bathtub, and best of all, Marion, Rudy and their adorable children. It was an honor to be their first guest! Very warm welcome, delicious breakfast at their neighboring homestay, and Marion & Rudy were great sources of local information. Very competent and accommodating staff, too. My only regret is that I could not stay longer! I hope to be back some day.

    Katie2016-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful guesthouse. The views of the river were fantastic, the delicious and hearty breakfast was an added bonus to the stay. There is laundry service on site and a very short 2 minute walk gets you to a major street. I walked almost everywhere and grabbed a few tuk tuk's now and then. It's a 15 minute walk to all of the major sites. Marion and Rudy were exceptionally nice and very knowledgeable about Luang Prabang and the in's and out's of this lovely place. I stayed in two different rooms as I extended my stay and both had their charm. The private guesthouse room even has an amazing bathtub with beautiful windows looking out on the river. Highly recommend!

    Maggie2017-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed with Marion and Rudy and felt ever so lucky to have done so. We had bene traveling for awhile and were in need of a little TLC. Kam had a cut on his foot that need some attention, I got sick for a day and Marion and Rudy couldn't of been any kinder or more helpful. The room was lovely! It was quiet, the bed was comfortable, the shower and the tub were great and the breakfast was YUMMY. It was HOT while we were there and the AC worked great and we slept well. This room is right on the river, the view is peacful and the location is nice. It's not in the heart of town but I prefer the more relaxing quieter vibe for sleeping. We walked everywhere and anything you need is minutes away. The Monks do their early morning procession right at the end of the driveway and it was a great experience. I hope to return !!!

  • Upon arriving, we could not find the place & Mr. Ho met up with us down the street. That was very nice of him. The home is very hard to find because it is located in a narrow alley. Once we got in & got the walk around, we thought the house was very spacious. The host provided lots of toilet paper & towels, which was a nice touch. We stayed 2 nights. There are 2 rooms downstairs. The bathroom & shower is in one of the rooms, so guests or friends that come over, have to go in your bedroom. Or if you are sleeping in the adjacent room & late at night when you need to use the restroom, it might be awkward to go into the other room if someone is sleeping. We had friends & family visiting us because they haven't seen us for so long. I thought it was ok because they weren't staying with us & because we rented out the whole house, we thought it would be more flexible than a hotel room. On the second day, we were taking a nap & got knock on the door. The host had sent his housekeeper to ask us how many people were sleeping in the house. I told her only 4. She then said ok & I went inside. I then went to take a shower & got phone call from the host. I couldn't understand him and he asked where I was. I told him I was at home & would meet him outside. The host lives in a small house next door. I went outside & asked if there was a problem. He said no problem, but that he would like to ask that we not keep the a/c on all the time. I told him that it was hot & where we're from, if it's hot, we leave the a/c on. He said when it cools down in the afternoon, you need to turn it off & use the fan so that the a/c doesn't catch on fire or break. I was very upset. After that incident, we felt very uncomfortable & wanted to leave. We couldn't sleep all night. We packed our bags and couldn't wait until morning came. We would've asked to extend our stay, but we decided to check into a hotel that didn't mind if we left the a/c on all the time that we are in the room & cares about not disturbing us.

  • We had a wonderful time. The reviews and description of the house are all accurate. Our family of 8 paid on average 50,000 kip for a tuk tuk into town (they charge by number of passengers, not distance). That's like $6. But the place is so cozy, and we could cook and do our own laundry. This house is well worth it. There are several markets that have a good if pricey selection of western items. There are also three very good restaurants within reasonable walking distance. Joma Cafe is very near. Cafe Vanille had excellent, inexpensive french food with huge portions. Both have playgrounds. Also Korean Garden Buffet is all-you-can eat Korean barbecue for like $6. Mr. Kim doesn't speak much English, but was still very helpful. He lives right next door. He saved us so much money on vans and drivers for going to the zoo and out of town. We are very thankful to have stayed here and want to stay here every time we are in Vientiane!!! My son got a great haircut at Mr. Kim's barbershop. Oh, and do not leave your shoes outside or the little puppy may steal them =)

  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Green House. The walk across the bamboo bridge into town is lovely and being slightly out of the main tourist area allowed us to glimpse real life for the residents of Luang Prabang. After travelling through SE Asia for 5 weeks it was so nice to be able to use a washing machine at our leisure! Sue was a very attentive and helpful host. Great experience.

  • Great host! able to anticipate your needs starting from the airport to places of interest. House well kept & neat and kitchen utensils fully equipped. Location is quiet, well secured & within walking distance from most attractions. Tour guide Yae recommended very friendly & knowlegeable. Highly recommended for 1st time traveler like us.

  • Greenhouse Villa was a fantastic place and Sue and Toui are wonderful hosts. We were travelling with a 20 month old toddler, so I asked Sue some questions about the kitchen ( which is very well equipped). She not only gave me complete and accurate advice about the kitchen - she then went out and bought 2 child seats for the bikes, a high chair and a child proof gate for the stairs ! Toui arranged a car to meet us at the airport, then met us at the house. He hand delivered delicious meals from his cafe and arranged tuk tuks for us. The Villa is clean and comfortable - great beds, good hot showers, an excellent kitchen and a lovely terrace overlooking the river. It is actually better than the photos show. As experienced Airbnb guests we were very very happy with Greenhouse Villa.

    Sally2016-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • During our Asia tour, I lost access to my Airbnb account. In order for me to verify my identity, I had to receive a call with a code. Unfortunately, the only number that Airbnb had for me was my home number. Another type of verification included information about a credit card that I did not have on my. Long story short, I could not read or respond to Sue's messages. Despite these difficulties, Sue ensured that there were people waiting for us in the house. They let us in, answered all our questions, and provided with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. There were bottled water and food in the fridge and clean towels. The house is well-maintained and spacious - 6 people will easily and comfortably fit. We had minor issues with two of our air conditioners but Sue immediately called her manager, and in no time at all, there were people in the house repairing the units. The house is located away from the main street and the center but Sue provided two bikes to make it easier to get there. If you choose to walk, it will take you probably 20-25 mins to get to the center, maybe a bit longer. We had a pleasant experience and highly recommend this house.

    Elena2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Greenhouse Villa was great. My only regret was that we did not get to experience the bamboo bridge since it was already gone by the time we arrived. The bamboo bridge would definitely make Sue's place easier and closer to town, but we didn't mind riding the bikes into town which we did every single day with our two boys who were in the bike seats on the back. We also took the evening shuttle for a small fee from the hotel that was really close one night which was nice. We didn't arrange anything except car transfers to and from the airport through Toui but he was always available to arrange them which we appreciated. We highly recommend Sue's place!

    Becca2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Greenhouse Villa was lovely, located in a nice residential neighborhood and within easy access to the city via several bridges. We also enjoyed the restaurants nearby. Sue was lovely! She responded quickly and her manager Toui was very nice and made several transportation arrangements for us. His restaurant is also good, though slightly overpriced for the area. I would recommend a stay at the Greenhouse Villa to anyone wanting to see the Luang Prabang area.

    Jessica2016-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • My group and I had the best time staying in this beautiful villa! It is a close walk to town and give a far more local feel to Luang Prabang! I hope to stay with you again! Thanks so everything once again sue! Highly recommended!

Villa Saynam is a 5 bedroom villa situated 10 minutes from the center of Luang Prabang. All rooms with private bathroom have a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains and the river. A fully furnished private infinite pool is on the estate and with a secure access. Come enjoy the peace and quiet. A daily shuttle service takes you in town. Bicycles are also available.
Villa Saynam was built in 2009 in a contemporary style inspired by lao architecture. The living space on the ground floor is open as in traditional houses for family gatherings and buddhist ceremonies. The bedrooms are spacious with private balconies overlooking the river. Recently, an infinite pool has been added to the estate. It is separated from the villa by a fence and guests with children don't have to worry about their safety.
Villa Saynam is situated on the bank of the Mekong River in the village of Ban Pha Khom and authentic Lao village walking distance from Ban Xang Khong, a weaver's and paper maker's village.
  • The house has a beautiful terrace right next to the Mekong River where you can see boats passing by. We spend most of our time staying there in the morning and late afternoon. It is very quiet and super lovely in the morning. In the evening there will be lot of mosquitos outdoor so beware. The hosts are very nice and try their best to accommodate your requests. The bedsheets and blankets are not changed everyday, which is fine, but we had the impression that they were not freshly laundered in the first place when we checked in. We stayed for 5 nights so after 3 days the kids got so bored of the very limited-choiced breakfast. However, Noy the host was nice to accept our request to change the breakfast to porridge instead of bread. We had a baby and Noy helped us cook her porridge everyday without any extra charge. We much appreciate that. About location, the villa is very far away from town because of the road through bridges because on map it is very close. But the host took us to town twice a day and back for lunches and dinners so not too much a problem. Just that we missed some fun in the early morning in town like morning market or almsgiving as well as the late night life. For adult traveller it should be better if you don't need to go back to hotel for kids to rest and take naps like us!:)

  • From moment I contacted Ratsamy (host) until day of arrival, she was very responsive on her email and answers all the questions I had about her house. Not only that, she went beyond my expectation, by recommending and planning things to do and places to eat around Laung Prabang area. When my group of six people arrived at Luang Prabang, we were greeted at the airport by staffs that looked after us the entire trip. They were extremely attentive, courteous, and we felt like we were receiving services from a 5-stars hotel. Ratsamy's house locate at the bank of Kong river, and the view is absolutely stunning. The extended balcony with lush garden surrounding it, make it perfect for any meals or just simply to watch life as it happens on the river. While room's conditions be improved with some repairs/upgrades, they are fully equipped with described amenities. I would really recommend Ratsamy's place for a group of four or more, and really want to spend a quality time in Luang Prabang. With Ratsamy's insights, helpful staffs, breathtaking view of Kong river, this place hits all the right notes.

  • This is a perfect villa for families with kids. You have plenty of space for them to run around and the staff is very accommodating. The view at the house is stunning and being a bit out of town really worked for us. We would absolutely recommend this house to our friends!

  • Villa Saynam is a gorgeous villa right by the banks of the mighty Mekong. With glorious views of the lush jungle and rolling mountains in the opposite bank, it's a great place if you enjoy the peace and quiet. The little village it is situated in is very charming with a morning produce market which you can buy some fresh local fruits from as well. They can organise a boat ride for you to visit the Pak Ou caves that stops right outside your villa making it all the more convenient. All in all, a really lovely place indeed.

    Peter2017-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Villa Saynam is a beautiful home on the Mekong River. We were greeted and picked up at the airport on time and taken straight to the villa which is only 10-15 minutes away from the airport. The photos do not do it justice. It is spacious and modern. My friends and I loved waking up and going for a run along the dirt roads and then for a swim in the pool before breakfast overlooking the river. We were a group of 6 adults and it felt like we had our own private hotel because of the staff's hospitality. The breakfast is very tasty and lunch and dinner are available at an extra cost. The staff is absolutely lovely and there is always at least one person who speaks English available to answer questions or book an excursion. Our hosts arranged for our visit to the waterfalls and a boat picked us up right at the house; it was so much more relaxing than going with other tourists by bus. Transportation was available to take us into town each day and pick us up each evening. Since the town is about 10 minutes away, you do need to plan your time carefully for pickups and drop-offs. The driver was very friendly and always on time. We enjoyed our time so much at Villa Saynam that we extended our trip by another two nights. It is truly a beautiful spot worth visiting and we plan on returning with family.

  • Wonderfull!

    Lonneke2017-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • The experience at Monica's was lovely. It's a quiet, out of the way place with a lovely view of the river. Our rooms were clean and Monica was a very receptive and friendly host. Our family was very happy with the experience. Only a few things to point out. The listing stated that it was an entire house that we were renting, but it is indeed a Guesthouse with individual rooms rented out. This should be corrected in the listing page (although perhaps we didn't do due diligence on our part to verify). This did result in a bit of confusion, but all was resolved in the end. A second small point is that there are roosters living in the vicinity, so early mornings should be expected unless you are a heavy sleeper and there are people about, so don't expect solitude. Finally, we had our own car and so going to town was very easy for us. Others might find it less convenient without one, but transport can be arranged. Overall, if an out of the way place is what you are looking for, this is it.

  • Located a bit away from the center so need to take a tuktuk or rent bike to move around, but in return you get an idyllic little corner overlooking the Mekong with a great, warm host and some lovely cats and dogs. Monica will show you around and give great tips, and you won't regret staying with her!

  • Monica's place is a lovely little oasis about 20 mins from town. Georgous views over the Mekong, and plenty of places for sitting, chilling, watching the sunset and musing over the river. She is also a sensational cook - ask for the buffalo rendang! ;) Meals were much appreciated as you are a little ways away from town. Room is basic, but aside from sleeping you wont spend much time there. Can be a little hard to find so best to use one of the tuk tuk drivers that monica recommends, especially at night time. Thanks Monica for a lovely stay.

  • We hadn't the chance to meet Monica, but her friend Ronnie was super nice and helpful. The house is amazing and the view is breathtaking, just like on the photos. Many lovely animals in the house, and super quiet place. Little bit far from the city but you can ask for a tuk tuk easily. Very cool place !

  • Jumbo Guesthouse is a beautiful home overlooking the Mekong. A perfect place for tranquil mornings on the veranda, sipping coffee and watching the currents of the river and the sway of the palms. The rooms are wonderful; equipped with everything we needed. The wifi was spotty at best, but this is Laos after all :) The staff is gentle and kind. The house is several km outside of town, which provides a peace that is not easily found in town. It will most likely require a motobike though. Which is also nice for excursions around Luang Prabang. Breakfast was provided for 50,000kip per person -- fruit salad, eggs and baguette -- and Monica's homemade peanut butter and jam, which is outstanding. We enjoyed our stay.

  • Lao Spirit is a great resort, away from town and any distraction to rest and rejuvenate. Surrounded by nature and very good hosts, it is a perfect place to disconnect from technology (wifi/TV). Channy and Wieslaw are great hosts ensuring every small thing is taken care of. Food at the restaurant is very fresh and delicious. Only suggestion is if you want to be around town/places to hang out late evening, this is probably not where you want to stay.

  • When booking for a place near Laung Probang i found that Lao Spirit was the best fit for us. Previously before booking i was emailing alot of questions about the area and the resort. Channy responded very quickly and was so helpful prior and during our stay. I reserved three nights at Lao Spirit in first part of November 2016. We were supposed to have three nights at the bungalow, but our flight was delayed from Phuket and could not make our connection in Bangkok. Lao Spirit worked with us on the price to make up our lost day. Very nice of them to do that. The bunglow at the resort is very beautiful. Everything is very clean and well maintained. The balcony view is breathtaking and is very peaceful to relax on. Inside they had a very nice bed and plenty of room for our stay. The bathroom is good size, very nice decor with a tub, toilet, and vanity. Connecting is the outside shower that is nice and relaxing to use! Prior to arriving we did not plan our excursions. Channy helped us set them up we were there. Lot to do really close to the resort. If looking for a place near Laung Probang I would highly recommend it. Thank you Lao Spirit for the wonderful stay. • We had a great time. The welcome is exceptional and everything is done to make the travelers feel good! The service is impeccable. The beautiful bungalows offer, for some of them, a superb view in an idyllic environment. The place is very quiet and is perfect for resting. In the evenings you can dine in the restaurant which offers a superb view of the river and you may also be able to admire the elephants who drink! This is an address that we absolutely recommend for a successful stay in the jungle

  • Awesome spot...Quiet and secluded with breathtaking views. Outdoor showers were a big plus. Restaurant was phenomenal...the Luang Prabang salad might have been our favorite. Although, everything was good. Highly recommend!

  • This was one of the best places my wife and I have ever stayed. The place was beautiful. It's located about 20 mins outside of the city. Every morning as we ate breakfast we looked across the river and saw elephants being bathed. There is also an elephant sanctuary (15 min walk) and a beautiful waterfall (15 min boat ride). You get your own secluded bungalow which is very spacious with a deck facing the river. The bathroom and shower are clean and have plenty of hot water. We even went when it was a little bit cold and hot water was never a problem. There was one restaurant on the resort and I'm sad I didn't get to try everything because everything I ate was delicious. Super relaxing and tranquil atmosphere.

  • Lao spirit resort is one of those special magical places we were lucky enough to find in our travels. The setting is incredible - raw jungle surrounds the entire resort and you are situated overlooking the river (and yes, you can see the elephants from your bungalow!). Even though it feels like you're 100000 miles from civilization, you're actually just 20 minutes from the airport, and the resort will gladly pick you up there. The service is incredible and the accommodations are lovely, rustic, and comfy. And the FOOD - best best Thai/Laos food I've ever had. We were sad to only be able to stay 2 nights. You can't go wrong with this place!

  • Clean house and friendly staff make this a good place to stay. Thuan and his staff help me to book the bus ticket and recommend where to visit and what to buy.

  • We chose this apartment because of the low price and the availability of a washing machine. But there is no washing machine, only laundry service for which you have to pay, obviously. after the booking, Mr John told us that he made a mistake and we actually only paid for one person, so we agreed on plus half the price (but still cheap, now the prices on airbnb are correct I guess). Finding the apartment was actually impossible: It's The World Guesthouse, not The World Guesthouse 2 (there is only one) and the map shows it's located on Kitsalat Road, which it isn't. Plus the tuk tuk drivers don't know it, so kind of impossible to find if you think there is guesthouse 1 and 2. The bathroom and provided towels were dirty to say the least. No mosquito net in front of the windows. The communication with Mr John was not good at all, he barely responded and after the check in he never responded. We also didn't see him at the Guesthouse, only the staff whose English is poor. Maybe he was on vacation. Good thinks: It had a fan, free water, friendly staff, we booked a day tour and it was cheaper than at the agencies, low price, included small breakfast. You can't really expect much for this price, so what you pay is kind of what you get.

  • Thuan was one of the nicest and most helpful airbnb hosts we have ever met. Extremely kind and gave us all sorts of helpful information to make our stay great.

  • Nice stay in location close to city center and not so far to bus station, we enjoyed stay there. Bike is possible rent just in house on the left side. Bicykle is possible rent till 500 m. All people there was so helpfull. Can really recommand this stay.

  • John and staff were amazing. Every need and whim was catered to and they made for a carefree and memorable segment of my journey. I have traveled and stayed at many airbnb's and this by far has the most open hearted and generous hospitality. John invited me and another guest to join his family for amazing authentic food in a private space within their stunning restaurant. One morning he arranged for us to give food to the line of monks that pass this gem every morning. John also picked me up early to take me to the airport and on the way we paused for a sunrise moment and photo opp. Ever helpful and making the journey richer by far.

    Karen2017-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • John & his team were really helpful, he picked me up from the airport on time and even helped my partner with his surprise gift for our anniversary :) The team was always friendly, assisting with queries on what to do/arrangements/rotating the daily breakfast provided. The location of the guesthouse is not in the old city, about 1km away which is nice & peaceful but not as close to everything as some might like it. Having said that, Luang Prabang city is really small so I didn't mind the 20 min daily walk :) The place is clean, with fans (no AC but sufficient) and private bathroom. In all, an excellent value for money but bear in mind its location.

    Huey2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • The place is ok, the bathroom and toilets were always clean. The staff was welcoming but they don't speak english.. so it's difficult if you need help from them.

The house was meant for our daughter, who don’t come visit very often. It is built inside the big property where we live. Fully equipped.
Besides the real comfort they can offer, we designed them with care and inspired ourselves from the lao and asian traditional art. The roof is covered with plants, which keeps the inside of the house cool. Free WIFI
Ban Thana is a small and authentic village close to Vientiane with a beautiful temple where you will have the incredible chance to attend to the morning offerings if you wake up early enough. You might even be invited to a village festival, drink a few beers and play petanque with the locals ! This peaceful place surrounded by fantastic nature and rice paddies is located right next to the Mekong and only 15 minutes away from the city center by motorcycle (or Tuk Tuk) !
  • It was pleasant to stay at Philippe's residence. Philippe and wife, Christiane, were fine, friendly hosts. My son and I felt at home and felt the natural hospitality. for wich we appreciated. Philippe offered coffee and home-grown passion fruit and papaya for a morning conversation. On one evening Philippe invited me for a glass of wine and a nice evening small talk. I enjoyed it very much. Although Philppe's residence is a little out of the centre of Vientiane, Philippe has made an effort to arrange a treansport between the city centre and his residence. It worked well in the begining. After 2 trips Philippe and I were left puzzled why our pre-arranged car didn't show up. At the end, I managed to a worker's truck as a means of transport to and from the city. It worked well, and I paid more than what they expected. This was just a minor pronblem. In all, Philippe's residence is a great place to stay. Philippe and Christiane are exellent hosts. The place is highly recoommended.

    Suparb2015-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • On arrival late at night, I was warmly welcomed by Philippe and Christine including a pick up from the airport. Which was great, because it might have been hard to find without any knowledge of Vientiane. The welcome breakfast the next morning was lovely, especially for a weary traveller! The one- bedroom villa is a great self contained space, that has a beautiful garden view. The bathroom is fantastic, and the photos don't really do it justice, it has a fantastic shower and a view to the sky. The pool is just divine - a lovely saltwater oasis. Ban Thana is a lovely little village with a two nice temples close-by which makes the morning a pleasant wake up with the sounds of the temple drums and chanting monks. There are some nice village walks close by that have you wandering past the rice paddies. As it is a bit out of town its good to have some transport arranged, and it is a little off the tuktuk routes, but its good to know the "clock tower" or "kilometre 6" as reference for the tuktuk drivers in helping you get back from Vientiane city centre. If you are after a quiet off the beaten track retreat with a fabulous garden and pool, and the best passionfruit cocktails in town then this is the place! It was nice to come back to Ban Thana after a busy and hot day sightseeing to relax by the pool.

    Anna2014-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • I spent 2 weeks at Ban Thana with Philippe and Christiane, and the only downside of the whole trip is that real life cannot match life at Ban Thana. The room (or cottage, to be more precise) is a few metres from the main house, so you pretty much have your own property. The overall compound is large and safe, with a superb swimming pool (be careful you don't spend your whole holiday in it... it's so nice) and jungle-style vegetation for that real back-to-nature feel. Philippe and Christiane, your hosts, are a lovely pair - both are keen to help out and/or chat, and they genuinely try to make you feel welcome at their property. Philippe speaks Lao, so he's a valuable friend to have! Location-wise, it's a few miles outside central Vientiane. If you want to interact with locals (although very few of them speak anything but Lao) and enjoy a slower pace of life, this is the perfect location. It's not party central... but that's not what I was looking for. Overall, the property and hosts really make it a magical place to stay. The area outside the compound might be relatively rural, but a stay at Ban Thana itself is a real five star experience. One quick note: if you do stay, ask Philippe (a chef) to show you his kitchen. It's very impressive.

    Rob2016-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We were very well welcomed by the hosts, who were very kind and attentive to any concern. They adapted the apartment to accommodate us with our two small kids, and it all worked well. The apartment was better than it seemed from the pictures and the site description. The compound with a large swimming pool is simply great and relaxing - just ideal for a family as ours. The place is not in the centre of Vientiane, it's a 15 minute drive - but having our own transportation made everything very easy.

    Bryan2015-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We felt very much welcome and at home with Philippe and Christiane. A very peaceful green tropical haven outside the capital with a fabulous saltwater pool, unprecedented in Laos. Don't forget to taste some of Philippe's international fusion cuisine while you relax the day away by or in the pool with a cold beer. Philippe may even tell you some stories about life in Laos as an expat. We would recommend this place if you want to relax and stay a while in Vientiane and do not need to go to the city every day. You will need your own transport, rent a moped from Philippe, or take a taxi for that. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking at home. In Ban Thana village you can pick up water, beer, and some fruit by foot, while for other foodstuff you'll have to go into the city by transport. There is an ATM in Ban Thana village though. The neighborhood is very peaceful although some nights there will be some karaoke a few houses away and in the early morning you might hear the monks bang the drums in the nearby village Wat. That's just local ambiance and apart from that it is very, very silent during the night compared to if you're coming from a city dwelling. Don't forget to look up and watch the stars without light pollution. Recommended for relaxation and a homestay different from a hotel and hostel.

Undoubtably the highlight of our stay was Nouth herself; her hospitality, her incredible cooking, extensive local knowledge and her friendliness. We would highly recommend this listing to anyone considering staying, it's suitable for all travellers!

  • Baa-Philippe's place is just near the paid bridge at Vang Vieng. You have to cross the bridge with small toll fee, however Phil will tell you another small and Free bridge (at least when we visited in dry season it is workable). Their place is in the small village, you can have a great experience to walk into Lao people's daily life, children playing on the road, women weaving, and people gathering in the grocery store. Although, Phil is not that fluent in English, he share us passionately with all the spots worth to visit from their place to blue lagoon. It was a great experience to stay with them.

  • Lovely place to stay, tucked away in a little village across the river from VV. close to lots of bars and tourist attractions. The place was nice and quiet, aircon was good and shower was hot. Only thing to note is you have to pay a small fee every time you cross the bridge, but this wasn't a problem for us.

  • Great place with perfect location, very nice and helpful staff, and comfortable room. If you're walking, biking, or want a motorscooter, this place is perfect. A great value, but also in great shape and well taken care of... I felt safe and very happy from the moment I arrived. Thanks Toui and team!

  • Toui's Cafe and Homestay was the best decision we could have made for Laos! The room was great, epic breakfast in English or Laos style, and Toui was the perfect host. He had maps, set us up with a motorbike, and more and more and more. We've been on the road thru SE Asia for over 2 months and Toui's was by far the best. Super Host indeed!

  • Location is good right at door step of Sisavangvong Road and Sakkaline Road where most attractions are within walking distance - morning wet market, evening night market, early morning ritual monks receiving alms, Wat Xieng Thong, That Chomsi Stupa, National Museum. Host and chef Toui serve great tasty local food, especially the river fish, at his Cafe. Room is neat, clean, tastefully done, no frills. Toui and staff are friendly, helpful, speaks English. It's a nice place. Definitely recommended.

This beautiful two-bedroom cottage in the amazing grounds of Jungle House located in Vientiane’s rural suburbs; gardens, swimming pool, drinks, dinner with your host & hostess, bed & breakfast, transportation & no extras. Just relax & chill out.
This is a very special cottage built out of old timber and clay roofing tiles salvaged from traditional Lao houses. The cottage comprises a central sitting, kitchen and dining area under a high, pitched close-boarded ceiling, with a beautiful bedroom to each side, each with its own bathroom. Bedrooms are also accessed from the veranda.
The village is on the edge of the Vientiane conurbation and is a low density, high quality development area. The surroundings are dominated by trees and luxuriant vegetation: it’s very green! The villagers are warm and friendly and give everyone a big welcome.
  • We loved every minute of our stay at Jungle Cottage, even the cheeky geckos which called out in the evenings! Mike is a walking encyclopedia when it comes to Lao history and the COPE tour was certainly an eye opening experience. Thank you so much Mike and Xoukiet for your warm hospitality, fantastic food and unswerving contributions towards Lao society. I was truly inspired.

  • This was our first booking thru AirBNB and we couldn't have been more fortunate, because Mike and his charming were were truly wonderful hosts while there facilities are in perfect condition and very tastefully decorated. The highlight was clearly the delicious Lao-style Dinner, adapted to Western tastes - preceded by a fantastic 'Sun-downer' and humongous 'Pints' of Gin Tonics on the 'Deck' overlooking a romantic pond in a lush tropical garden ... joined by a very nice couple from Tasmania with their son, who enjoyed the Swimming Pool during the day. All in all, a very pleasant and memorable experience I can recommend to try for yourself, if you ever plan to visit Laos ... but if you read this review, chances are you might ;-)

    Paulina2014-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived in Vientiane after 16 days in China. A few days before our departure from Beijing we decided that our time in Vientiane needed to be more recovery and less exploring. That decision led us to Mike and Xoukiet’s lovely home on the outskirts of Vientiane. I emailed Mike with short (24 hour) notice and he fired off a quick email indicating that he was accepting our AirBnB and we would figure it out, that I should send the flight info and he would meet us at the airport and not to worry all would be well. In fact, it was more than we could have expected. Mike met us at the airport, even though our flight was over two hours late. On the way back to his home he gave us a quick rundown on Lao history. Our original plan was to spend two nights, but if you elect to stay with Mike and Xoukiet, you will be sorely tempted to extend your stay. We stayed four days. We are a family of four (two boys age 16 and 13) traveling for a year and it was as if we had come to see an uncle that we hadn’t seen in a few years. Mike engaged our sons in discussions about Lao history, our travels, and the challenges facing the world. Dinner each night was wonderful as new guests came and went. Mike’s famous gin and tonics (in my case I opted for vodka and tonic—a bad college experience is to blame) started the evening and Xuciet’s Lao meals were wonderful. She works for the United Nations and has her own powerful insights on a number of topics. Conversation flowed often late into the evening. Hidden in the garden is a refreshing pool. Whether you are entering Laos via Vientiane or this is a final stop on your way elsewhere, you would be wise to put Mike and Xoukiet on your list of friends well met.

    Malone2015-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Mike and Xoukiet are the perfect hosts. Their home is absolutely the most wonderful place you can imagine, a rare case of surpassed expectations... Based on other reviews, I was expecting something very good, but it was so much better! From the moment you arrive, and have a look around the beautiful house, you feel like a dearly missed friend. The only downside is, that days pass way too quickly, while sipping Mike's gin & tonic at sunset, and meeting other guests at the dinner table, engaged in fierce philpsophical/political/cultural/.../discussions.

  • My stay at the Jungle House was one of the highlights of my trip. Mike and his lovely wife were a delight - the space was amazing - conversation engaging and the food was outstanding. I can't recommend this airbnb enough. It's truly a gem - if you are lucky enough to grab it between bookings - don't hesitate! If I find myself in Laos again, I most definitely will stay at Mike's again... Jasmine and family....

  • We had a thoroughly enjoyable time at Mike's jungle cottage. While we were only there for a short time the hospitality from Mike and his wife was fantastic. Our two children enjoyed meeting the other guests and sharing dinner table stories and we felt very welcome. The cottage was extremely spacious and as we ate our meals in the main house the cottage had more facilities than we needed. This experience was even better than we imagined, thanks Mike!

  • Four of us, good friends, spent three nights at this delightful property. It was the end of our time travelling together in Laos and we were really pleased to find this welcoming and comfortable accomodation. Mike's hospitality begins the moment he meets you, off the bus in our case. He is generous with both his time and knowledge and it was great to get a better insight into Lao's present and past history, particularly during the period of American bombing. A highlight is Mike's escorted tour around the COPE visitors centre. He also introduced us to Vientiane and showed us some great eating spots we would never have found by ourselves. We had plenty of time to explore alone or chill by the pool at the house and found the spacious cottage was a wonderful place to retreat from the hot sun. In the evenings we joined our hosts for an evening gin and tonic or Beerlao before experiencing a delicious Lao dinner prepared, and introduced, by Mrs Boddington. Oh and did I mention the breakfast? This is a very warm and friendly place to stay and would suit single travellers as well as couples like us. This was one of our best experiences in Laos and we were all so pleased we chose to stay here.

  • The house is very spacious and clean and Arnaud is very helpful. The kids had a lot of fun in the garden. I would recommend Arnaud's house to anyone who wants to discover this beautiful city! Loic

  • A great place to stay if you have a very large group. Lots of bedrooms and very clean.

  • Walkable distance to town centre - through a bridge! Great experience! Home is really spacious. Market is so close that we bought food and cooked our own breakfast for the three days we were there. Everything from towels oil salt to plates and container is available in the house. We managed to pack some food for our trip to kuang si waterfall! Wifi may be a bit slow but better than nothing. There is a washing machine which we used and a space to hang clothes! Really feels like home! If you have a big group, I will highly recommend this home. Oh, just remember to bring mosquito repellent :)

  • Arnaud is friendly, the house is beautiful big enough for a group of four family .We will come back Luang Prabang and for sure will stay here again .

  • House is very spacious and well equipped. It is fantastic for families or groups. Although not centrally located, it was a short, scenic and very pleasant walk over the seasonal bamboo bridge. The nearby market was convenient and interesting. I would love to return, and highly recommend Arnaud's home to anyone visiting Luang Prabang.

    Herman2017-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • A good spot close to markets. In the wet season the bamboo bridge is washed away so travel to town is by tuktuks but the neighbour has one and is always willing to help. He also has a twin cab Ute for wet weather. Recommended for families or groups of friends. Arnaud is helpful and friendly.

    Lee2017-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • The house was very large. We had 9 people stay very comfortably with privacy. The house is off the beaten path a bit, so you may need a vehicle or arrange transportation to the city and other sites. Wifi is slow and a bit unreliable, but that may be par for the course in Laos. The place is ideal for a large group of friends, especially if someone speaks Thai or Laos and you have transportation.

Our house is in the suburb of Ban Khounta, west of the downtown area of Vientiane. We are only 100 metres from the Mekong river with many local waterfront restaurants and bars.
  • The house was perfect and it is everything that I want in a home! The room was cosy and I enjoyed the outdoor shower. We slept with the fan on and didn't think there's a need to switch on the ac at night. The pool was perfect for the hot weather and we definitely made full use of it! It's abt a 15min stroll along the river to town and it was a comfortable distant. Martina and Glenn were very hospitable and flexible. Thank you so much for having us and we will definitely be back if we come back to Vientiane!

  • Just tucked away behind the river road, is a secret pathway that leads you to a sanctuary or better known as Martina's place. I loved her welcome and warmth hospitality. The grounds, garden, pool and room all looked amazing on arrival. (Spoiler alert) The room itself was spacious enough for two and full of thoughtful gestures like plug adapters and books to read too many to mention them all.

Welcome to our cozy little place right at the banks of the mighty Mekong River! We will help you with all of your questions and love to show you around in our village and we can also organize tours, a cooking class and onward transport. Our island is very traditional and there are no roads, only paths and little villages. If you want a taste of local Lao life on an island in the Mekong: welcome to Ban Thamakheb (village), Don Som (island), Si Phan Don (4000 Islands) in the south of Laos!
Our Lao style home is built on poles and has one room and a balcony. We have a garden in which you can relax and we have some hammocks as well. We have a big mattress and one smaller one (with linen, sheets and pillows of course). No beds like in most Lao houses. There are some seats, a table and some books for reading in the house. The bathroom is outside. It contains a 'western style' toilet and washing is Lao style with water and a bucket. We provide soap and towels. Any questions? Ask us!
Our village has about 150 (mainly wooden traditional Lao) houses. It is a traditional Lao village and most people are farmers and fishermen. If you're interested in learning and seeing Lao culture (and you are also welcome to visit the temple if you like) this might be a good place for you to be close to the locals of our place.
  • Sander and Tanoi are excellent host. Wonderful people. Their place is really nice. Simple but clean and confortable. Immediately you feel like at home. The place is away of the touristic places and is it plus. Not expect luxury but authenticity. Tanoi and Sander, helped by Toby teach us a nice Lao kitchen class. Very nice. And also organize a tour for the Mekong very nice and interesting. And finally they help and organize our transfer to Siem Reap. Very recomendable place. And be in mind we are people from 56-62 years old. Very very good

  • The location is very convenient to go to main attractions in LP. The food in Toui's restaurant is the BEST in LP and we had 2 lunches and 1 dinner there. Toui is very nice to organize some sandwiches for us as breadfast since we needed to catch up the early plane.

  • I booked a 3 nights stay with Cafe & Homestay Toui. The homestay is just newly renovated and the room is clean. The boss, Toui is kind and helpful. He is a excellent chef as well!! We had our lunch in the cafe and the foods taste really good.

  • Great location in the heart of Luang Prabang. Walking distance to the main wats & various sights. Our room was very comfortable, staff were kind & helpful and the food was fantastic. Can definitely recommend!

  • As described and pictured... very kind, attentive and profesional to any matter. Location is great, just steps from famous night market, outside the house beautiful scenery Nam Khan river and mountains across it. Rooms are very nice, clean, daily maintained, a/c ... and included breakfast is to die for ( Lao style, not the western style, never had that one :) ) , so as the rest of the menu, so dont even question the reviews of the restaurant... yes , people coming from all over the city to eat there. Definately go ahead, book and enjoy :)

    Guadalupe2017-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend staying at Toui's. Great Value! Very clean and friendly staff. The breakfast was lovely and it is in a great location.

    Stephanie2017-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible! Toui's guesthouse is the perfect place to stay in Luang Prabang. The room was clean and modern, the location is a block away from the start of the night market, and Toui's Cafe is one of the best in town. The best part of the stay was the (URL HIDDEN) only for guests (i.e. The Cafe isn't open to the public), and he serves the most amazing noodle soup for breakfast. Don't miss it!

    Eliot2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Toui's place is perfectly located for exploring the town. Rooms are well appointed and good hot water. His restaurant is fantastic and his staff is very nice (just work with them as some are still learning English). Note the citywide curfew but with the small town and central location getting back is no problem. Internet is a bit slow but one should be unplugged in this town anyway. This is a functioning restaurant so don't expect quite during the dinner hours. Also you're going to do elephants use mandalao they are the best, most honest, ethical company (supported by world wildlife fund).

    Tony2017-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely would come back here. The location is great but most importantly we really appreciated the thought in the little details to help make our stay comfortable. Towels and basic toiletries are provided, water bottles, the rooms are clean and a handbook of tips was helpful. Toui and his staff are very warm, thoughtful and want to please their customers. The service was excellent. I should also add that breakfast is included and they offer a Laos or European style breakfast. The bottom floor of the homestay is Toui's restaurant, Cafe Toui, and our meals were amazing! We also had dinner there our first night and it was fabulous!

Sabaidee! Welcome to The Deck House. We are located in a residential neighborhood on the Nam Khan River just minutes from the tourist center of Luang Prabang Town. Ideal if you are searching for something local but like coming home to a comfortable setting after a long day of checking out the sights. Whether you are traveling alone, as a couple or as part of a larger group, with 4 double rooms we are an excellent choice. Live life like a Luang Prabang expat! Stay with us at The Deck House.
The Rasasi room is a cosy Queen sized room at the rear of the house and has views out onto the Nam Khan river, Mount Phousi temple and the surrounding mountains. The bed linen is cool Egyptian cotton to maximize comfort and includes luxurious Turkish cotton towels. You will find plenty of storage in the locally made full size wardrobe and bedside tables. This room shares a bathroom with the Hmong room. The bathroom is spacious with a full size vanity, bathtub and heated shower. Shower gel and shampoo are complimentary. You will find plenty of space to relax outside of your room. Either downstairs in the main guest sitting area where the television is located or perhaps you would like to read a book in the upstairs seating area beside the balcony. Or you can watch life go by from the balcony itself. The large deck area at the rear of the house overlooks the Nam Khan river and features views of the mountains that ring Luang Prabang and Mount Phousi Temple.
The Deck House is located outside of the main tourist centre of town. You will experience the sights and sounds of true Lao life here. Be prepared to hear cockerels crowing in the morning, or monks beating on their drums and see and hear local people going about their everyday lives. Lao people love to sit outside their homes in the evening and chat whilst listening to music. They are modest people and we ask that you respect this please- no bare chests or skimpy outfits. Just down the street is a temple and another is just around the corner. If you are up by 6am you can watch the daily alms giving ceremony as the monks walk through town. There are lots of street side food stalls where you can sit and eat authentic Lao food. There is even a Pizza place! A short walk brings you to our local fresh food market. Here you can see, taste and smell a variety of local foods. From fresh fruit and vegetables to fish and cuts of meat. Some you may find more exotic than others, perhaps some may still be alive. Common finds are whole Mekong fish, snake, bats, live frogs and bamboo rats. Slightly further afield and perhaps a chance to take a bike out, would be a visit to the local weavers village or papermaking village. These are about 30 minutes by foot.
  • The best guest house ever! The room we stayed was very clean and tidy. AC also works well! I haven't felt anything inconvenience. The breakfast at the terrace was amazing, three cute dogs, free pick-up service and bike rental, everything was nice! It located a bit apart from main street, but it is only 15mins away. Most of all, Steve and Merlyn are VERY kind and warmhearted! I would like staying again if I have another journey in Luangprabang!

    Hosun2017-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice staying. Nice couple with three cute dogs really make us very warm and feel like we are staying at home. Always Give us advices and useful information. Thank you Steven for picking up my friends and wait them for almost two hours(sorry about that). Thank you Meryl for your great breakfast!

    chong2017-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Meryl and Steven's place is absolutely wonderful. The house is roomy and spectacularly clean. The deck provides a view of the river and is very lovely to have breakfast on. Breakfast is made fresh in the morning and consists of fruit, juice, tea, toasts, eggs, and bacon (there are other options available as well). The bed is extremely comfortable that I now kind of wish my mattress at home is the same kind. You do need to cross a bridge to get to the town, but since when does a little exercise hurt anyone? However, the best part of the whole experience was Meryl and Steven's hospitality. From the airport pick-up/drop-off to taking me out to dinner the first night to providing helpful recommendations and bookings of things to do in Luang Prabang, it made my (basically lack of) planning incredibly easy. I was moved to the largest room in the house at Steven's insistence only because we found the picture hanging on the wall in the room I booked had fallen off and shattered on the floor when I was checking-in. Meryl and Steven clearly put a lot of efforts and hearts into the house, and it definitely shows. They both have wonderful senses of humor and are owners of three adorable dogs. I most highly recommend staying at the Deck House if you are visiting Luang Prabang and most definitely hope to return again.

  • No words to express my feeling staying with Steven&Meryl and those lovely puppies!I've been travelled in southeast Asia for nearly one month and with airbnb experiences for 6 times in total, just wanna say this was my best airbnb experience ever! Everything was well arranged and the house is super clean and comfortable!!!!!!

    2017-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our visit to Luang Prabang was exceptional, and much of our positive experience was due to the lovely stay at 'The Deck House' with Steve and Meryl. The accommodations were clean, modern, and comfortable. The residence has 4 room options - ours was a double bed in a charming room, with an adjacent bathroom that was shared between other guests. Bathroom sharing was not a negative experience, given the small number of guests. Meryl and Steve prepared and served delicious breakfasts, with great attention to the dietary needs of the guests. They also generously provided pickup from the Mekong slow-boat dock upon our arrival, and drop-off at the airport at the end of our stay. As an aside, some of our highlights in Luang Prabang included: * the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre (TAEC), located partway up the southwest slope of Phousi hill * Garavek folk storytelling (1 hour, every evening) * visit to the Kuang Si waterfalls and Asiatic bear rescue sanctuary (included in same ticket, purchased on site; rent a motorbike for a fun ride) * Unexploded Ordnance museum ((URL HIDDEN) a small, unassuming facility with important and illuminating information regarding U.S. involvement in southeast Asia and the lasting scars that continue to plague these societies In all, we can't recommend 'The Deck House' or Luang Prabang highly enough. Enjoy your visit!

  • Being an Hotelschool graduate myself, and currently still working within the hotel industry I can truly say that the Deck House can compete with many luxury hotels out there! The entire establishment is well presented and very clean! Breakfast is perfect and prepared according to your own preference of eggs, toast, cereal etc. I just gave to talk about the towel in the room as it is better than any of the 5 star hotels I stayed at. The pick up and drop off service that they offer is so nice and relaxed after a long trip. Next to all that the hosts Steven and Maryl are wonderful people that have both their mind and heart in the right place! For anyone visiting Luang Prabang I can highly recommend staying here, you will not regret it!

  • From the moment I got off of the mini van, the host was available to serve me. I was picked up at the bus station. From the previous descriptions, I was aware that the bungalows were a bit out of town. Bring away from the hustle and bustle was a real plus. As you can see from the pictures, the bungalows were just perfect and fit with the environment. Love the feeling of being in a jungle. Nouth's meals were delicious and we all enjoyed the story of how she learned to cook. She seem to effortlessly be able to arrange bus tickets and tuk-tuks and transportation to meet a variety of needs. Met travelers from all over the world who were fun and shared great stories and experiences. Warm hugs to all when leaving.

  • Nouth is a great host and person. The place is beautiful, private, convenient to visit the main VangVieng attractions and far enough from the noisy and not very good looking town centre. Food is lovely too. I absolutely recommend it!

  • Nouth is a great host to the extend of taking her client from anywhere in Vang Vieng to her cozy place The stay is Great big room and big bed with nice ambient If you are like me interested to see the blue lagoon this will be the place, she will prepare a bicycle for you so that you can ride your way there... And also arrange any transportation for you. She even help me buy the bus ticket from Vang Vieng to Vientiane to Hanoi. My trip from Vientiane to Vang Vieng is not a pleasant one, the Bus driver forgot to let me down IN Vang Vieng and they guy just laugh and said he forgot about it and left me stranded there in the middle of nowhere where they have a break during the journey, the place call Kasi is 1 hour off track... Luckily Nouth reply my sms and help me to talk to them since they don't speak much English 5 star Host that go above and beyond!

  • My friend and I stayed 2 nights at Nouth's airbnb and it was fantastic! The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. We drove from Vientiane to Vang Vieng so we did not need her to pick us up from the central bus stop. The airbnb was easy to find and there are parking spaces if you do plan on bringing your own car. We can't thank Nouth enough! She was more than accommodating...helping us when we were in trouble and giving every suggestions of where to go, when we ask for local food or drinks. Kop chai lai lai euy Nouth and I hope to be back soon (:

  • A paradise on earth in the middle of vegetation Nouth is a perfect hostess and you'll feel great there. Only thing you have to be careful of is that a small fare is required every time you cross the bridge between the city centre and that part of the city. Not a big deal unless you plan to cross the bridge a lot.
