There's no hill like Coe Hill! Our local saying :)
  • The house is very pretty and the surroundings are quiet, so it was great to spend time with friends. However, since there are no chopsticks, it is better to take care of those who need it :)

  • Great space, very unique, clean and personal. Close to a great restaurant and cafe, both within walking distance. Walking and sledding trails are just up the street and access to the lake. Great spot to visit and have a weekend getaway. The hosts are wonderful and take great pride in their place. I would definitely visit again.

  • Was perfectspot to meet up with family from Ottawa on the way to Algonquin park. Great deck, just off the main street of cute town with a view of "There's no hill like Coe Hill" sign.

  • This place is the best! The town is quiet, so come here to relax, cook, hike and swim in the wonderful nature all around. The kitchen has everything you need to cook, it's super spacious, very clean and feels bright & light. This place is all good vibes!!!

  • The photos are completely accurate of Jim and Tia's place except that in reality it is much larger. We stayed there while visiting family at a cottage fairly close by and it worked out perfectly. It was a comfortable peaceful charming place to return to after a hectic day with grand kids. We would stay again for sure.

  • We came to Coe Hill by practically throwing a dart at a map. Anita and Tim's place was great, bigger than I expected and sparkling clean. The breakfast was a huge plus as it was absolutely delicious, you can tell a lot of work and love is put into this place. The hamlet of Coe Hill is very quaint and peaceful with very friendly people. Only half an hour away from Bancroft if you are looking for dinner and drinks and an hour and 20 minutes away from Algonquin Park and half an hour from Kawartha Highlands Park if you want to spend your day in nature. The Gut Conservation area is very close to Coe Hill and it's worth visiting if you are staying here. I 100% recommend Anita and Tim's place if you are looking to stay in the area or just want a weekend away from the city and spend some time in nature.

  • Coe Hill is a small little town that actually packs a punch. There are so many things to do there. If there was a Hyatt or Four Seasons hotel here I would choose Anita’s home in a heartbeat. The apartment is clean, spacious and has more than everything you need. The icing on the cake was the over the to breakfast included with our stay. Anita’s family are so wonderful and go above and beyond of what is expected. We were actually very sad to go home. This is now on my personal bucket list to return. If you read this review....STOP, get in your car and drive immediately to this AMAZING destination....you won’t regret it.

  • Stephen's place was a great spot for my family vacation. It was super accessible, modern and cozy. It was better in person than in the pictures! We loved that it was dog friendly and went to local trails for walks! I would recommend some sort of memory foam topper for the upstairs beds. Stephen was a kind host and can't wait to return!

    Jade2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Stephen was a great communicator, and the place was very nice and well appointed. We enjoyed the wood stove, DVD collection, and comfortable beds during our winter getaway. Would definitely recommend and we hope to come back in another season!

    Kim2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • Stephen’s cabin was the perfect winter weekend getaway. The space was warm, inviting and incredibly clean. From snowshoeing on the lake, toasty fires in the wood stove and a visit to Silent Lake Provincial Park to walk some of their beautiful trails, this cabin gave us the relaxing, unplugged weekend we were looking for. Stephen was an excellent host, with thoughtful touches and quick responses, he made this experience one that we’ll definitely repeat.

    Lindsay2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Stephen’s place is absolutely amazing! He thought of everything and anything that’s needed. His home is well equipped with thoughtful touches ranging from a welcome note to a first aid kit! He even had a binder with clear instructions and tips for local hangouts! Overall, his quick responses were impressive and I will definitely head back to Stephen’s cottage in the summer time!

    Angela2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location, everything was perfect and not to mention stylish, clean and the boardgame collection impressive. Great romantic get away or if your an outdoors person its perfect - I will certainly be coming back thank you Stephen!!!

  • I spent an amazing weekend in this cozy cabin with a group of friends. It was very clean and comfortable on a nice property overlooking the lake. With a wood burning stove in the living room area, as well as heating, we were very warm through the snowstorm. This place is beautiful in the winter, and we hope to come back and stay sometime this summer. Stephen was very helpful before and during our stay, with prompt and thorough responses. Everything was as described, and the cabin had many thoughtful touches and provided everything we could have needed. The cabin sleeps around 6 people, and would work for a family or group of friends. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a cozy and relaxing getaway in nature.

    Emily2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • The place was absolutely breathtaking and Stephen was an amazing host. He was easy to communicate with and very knowledgeable about the home, property, and area. We didn’t know it was possible to make so many memories in one stay but there was just so many things to do !

  • Krista’s place is amazing! Clear water for swimming, great location for fishing. You can find everything you need in this place. There’s a public beach beside the cottage. It could be a little bit noisy during daytime. But it didn’t bother us at all. Can’t wait to go back again!

    Yuetong2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for the whole family! We travelled with 4 kids under 7 and our retired parents. We were all comfortable the kids enjoyed the zip line. The views were amazing. The water clean. We were able to launch our boat right on the property. The dock was great for parking. There were kayaks for everyone. We had an amazing time. Every year we rent a cottage and this cottage is definitely one we would go back too. Thanks so much Krista and family.

    Michele2019-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Really nice cottage, can’t really say a bad thing about it. Water was unreal, fishing was decent, awesome spot for a bon fire right off the water. The sunset was beautiful and the stars at night over the fire is just awesome. Will be back!

    Kevin2019-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great location on the lake close by to shops and stores. Went during the May long weekend, excellent spot for that time of year.

    Mike2019-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • You can expect a nice clean and cozy cottage with beautiful views of the lake only meters away. After a day of ice fishing warm up by the fire inside with your favourite beverage. Looking forward to our next stay..

    Justin2019-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a good time we came back for a second stay. The kids loved it as much as we did and spent hours looking for frogs at night. The neighbours at Bear Ridge were nice as well and they were very helpful at the store. Overall wonderful community and fantastic cottage we will definitely be requesting to book in the future!! Thanks again for having us.

    Andrea2018-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a cozy cottage with whatever you need. The views are stunning both during the day and at night. The water is shallow, which makes it a perfect spot for families with young children. We really enjoyed our stay there in late July, and we will highly recommend it to friends and family.

The loons are calling... Welcome to Rose-Eh-Chalet. This spacious open concept A-frame cottage brags scenic views from every window and angle.
Upon entering the cottage you will be welcomed by the natural light and beautiful surroundings that filter through the windows, and the feeling of spaciousness that embraces you. The modern kitchen has 3 stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher, with easy access to the large deck for entertaining, BBQing and lounging. You're also steps away from the no motor, crystal clear Carfrae lake. The two bedrooms on the second level have a walkout onto a private balcony overlooking Carfrae Lake. From here you can drink in the serenity of your surroundings while sipping your morning coffee, or afternoon wine. You'll experience the spa-like shower, with natural pebble flooring, a large size rain head shower, and a view of the woods. Winding your way up to the third floor, you will delight in a trendy, Instagram-able loft with tonnes of swagger. It's a great place to chill! Lazy days or busy days, that's your decision, but we're just a short 15 minute drive to the town of Bancroft where there are breweries, restaurants, mines, fishing, and hiking trails to be explored and experienced. Or, just stay put and enjoy all that the cottage has to offer, including watercraft (canoe, peddle boat), fantastic fishing, lakeside fire pit, games, record player and books. Our guess is that you'll leave this dreamy oasis lighter than you came because at Rose-Eh we don't recycle stress, we bury it. Pet friendly by request. We encourage all our guests to enjoy all that our beautiful Rose-eh chalet has to offer. In return, we respectfully ask that you take care of our possessions and leave everything in good order when leaving. Presently the chalet is undergoing a few minor modifications to “refresh” and newer photos will be posted soon.
We are a short 15 minute beautiful drive to the town of Bancroft, with breweries, restaurants, shops, grocery stores, Tim Horton's, hiking trails, mines to explore and Algonquin Park is not too far either.

Our cabin is seasonal and available from May until October. Please check back in the early spring if you're interested in staying during the spring or summer months. Welcome to the ultimate Hicktopian Retreat for your quiet getaway from the daily grind. This spacious pine cabin is located on a rural farm road, only minutes away from pristine lakes and nature trails on a private property shared with our century farm house. You deserve to be rurally revived, Canadiana Cabin style.
Space This cabin's retro sensibility is inspired by its previous life as our vintage shop “Revival". Our love of vintage, salvage art and kitsch, as well as rustic rural elements has shaped the cabin's personality as a fun, relaxing nostalgic retreat. Revival’s design sensibility got us featured twice on two different Cottage Life Television Programs. This space is ideal for budget travellers who want peace and quiet but not necessarily isolation in the wilderness. It’s the perfect retreat for single travellers, couples, LGBTTQ2, over-worked activists or struggling artists. We do our best make this an affordable getaway. We all deserve to take a break sometimes. There’s lots of space in the cabin to create or just relax and you can call it home while you explore the area. This Hicktopian cabin is spacious with 20-ft vaulted ceilings, pine walls and the floor is a combination of poured concrete and stained pine. The cabin is furnished and decorated using entirely retro, reclaimed and rustic elements. Literally, everything inside the cabin (except the heater and a few appliances) is either vintage, up-cycled or handmade. We hope that the space manages to, not only embrace all things retro, but also reminds folks that it’s entirely possible to live a simpler life. The cabin is a hybrid of mod cons and off-the-grid living. No battling mosquitos or black flies while trying to start a fire for your morning coffee. It’s equipped with hydro but uses gravity-fed solar-heated water. The 100-year old dairy shed has been reworked into an Eco Privy with a wash basin supplied by gravity fed solar-heated water and it’s only a few steps from the cabin. We’ve got lots of outdoor solar lights to find your way around. There’s also an outdoor shower for seasonal use. The back deck looks out onto the fire pit, our well-treed property and the forest at the back. You may spot a deer, wild turkeys, rabbits, and even turtles swing by for a stroll. The property is on 3 acres of mostly spruce and pine trees. The front of the cabin faces a horse farm and the back, faces a spruce grove. 4 km away is L'amable Lake for swimming, canoeing, fishing or boating. It may share the property with our farm house but your peace and quite will be respected. The basic run down : - spices, sugar, condiments, dishes, utensils, a small fridge, and small appliances are available, including a BBQ, manual coffee drip, kettle, hotplate, small fridge and toaster - semi off the grid - meaning there is no direct plumbing to the cabin, however! We have designed a simple gravity powered water supply for dishes and washing both inside the cabin and the Eco privy - the Eco privy is located in one of the property's original sheds only a few steps away from the cabin. The composting toilet system is easy to use and involves simple composting. ie. buckets, water and pine chips which you'll need to dispose of in our compost pile (easy to follow instructions inside the cabin) - hydro is available inside the cabin, please review the house manual for details on appliance use. - there is a space heater for cooler nights - you can enjoy the spruce grove behind the cabin, the fire pit (some wood is provided but you may want more) - dogs are more than welcome but please keep them On leash on the property - we share the property with wildlife and don't want to have any funerals ;) - there is a very comfortable double bed provided with fitted sheets and pillows - bring an sleeping blanket for cooler nights - please bring some drinking water as well. - there is an outdoor shower adjacent to the cabin with a privacy fence facing the spruce grove. This is a rural cabin located on a scenic, historic farm road it's a quiet farm area but close enough to town life. Perfect rural fix for tired urban escapees.
The town of Bancroft is 8 km away. The hamlet of Coe hill is about 20-minute drive away. Egan Shute provincial park is about 12 km away. Algonquin park is about an hour's drive away and Silent Lake Provincial Park is about 30 minutes away. An Esso gas station and convenience store is 6.5 km away. Swimming spots can be found at: Jamieson lake - 7 km away, Bay lake - 12 km away, L'Amable Lake - 4.5 km away and Tait Lake - 4.1 km away. Hastings Heritage Trail - is a beautiful, historic rail trail through marsh and forest. It is now an ATV, biking and walking trail. It's entrance is .5 km down the road. Once on the trail, you can, literally, walk for miles to the north or south.
  • Perfect for ATV riders ! About a 30 second ride down the road to the Hastings-Heritage Trail was amazing for a weekend of trail riding & coming back to the cabin at night for a campfire and then heading to bed. The cabin was clean, amazingly decorated and everything was labeled informatively. We will definitely be coming back!

  • Suzy's place is the perfect getaway if you want to unplug but not be totally off the grid. Cozy, charming, and eclecticly decorated. Don't fear the composting toilet!!

    Nichole2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Suzy's cabin was everything we could have asked for and more. It was the most peaceful, artistic and beautiful place. I felt so in touch with nature being here and Suzy provided us with the most gorgeous swimming spots and places to explore. The outdoor shower was such a cool touch, at night we had a massive roaring fire and their wasn't a spot in the sky without a star in it. The property even had its own little trail you could loop around and just take in all the trees. Already want to go back! Perfect get away for a couple, friends or anyone looking to loose their mind n find their souls ❤

  • A gorgeous cabin on a fantastic piece of property with lovely and unique vintage decor! Suzy is an excellent host and you can’t go wrong booking with her!

    Olivia2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Suzy's hospitality was excellent, not only was she great to chat with but she was very quick to respond whenever we had questions and had great recommendations (make sure to check out Eagle's Nest Parks for an amazing view of Bancroft). Suzy's place is even better than it looks. It's quirky and full of everything you need and more (beautiful art books, lounge chairs, towels, extra linens, loads of cookware, shampoo and conditioner, pretty much anything you can think of). The cabin and privy are extremely clean and the outdoor space is beautifully groomed. The cabin is located on a scenic country road and is five minutes drive from beautiful lakes, parks and trails. We'll definitely be back!

    Leah2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot rave enough about my stay at the cabin. Everything was exactly as stated in Suzy's write up. The cabin is cozy and just lovely. The decor is indeed kitchy and that is what makes the experience much more. I will definitely be back. Going back to basics is just what my soul needed to recharge. Thank you Suzy.

    Bobbi2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Would recommend. The space is just as it is shown in the pictures, is in an amazing location and is very peaceful! We loved seeing the fall colours in L'amable and Bancroft, which are both quaint towns. Suzy went out of her way to write a wonderfully detailed list of local hikes, which was so appreciated. She was a gracious and kind host. It was a great off-the-grid experience!

Marina with canoe & kayak rentals, as well as fishing boats, pontoon boat and bowriders - just one minute down the road from Chandos Beach Golf course, conservation area and hiking trails within 15 minute drive Apsley has a Foodland, LCBO, gas station, Timbermart and Home Hardware, a corner store & bakery, library, bank, a couple of restaurants, a medical & dental centre and a couple of real estate offices, marinas and retail outlets Coe Hill also has a restaurant or two, library and liquor store, among other small retailers TRUTHFULLY, things are generally more expensive in cottage country, you have fewer choices, things close early, and bars and restaurants are far and few between. The Fat Squirrel experience is best enjoyed by taking day trips out, and chilling at home at night. Bring your food and beverages, grab something for the grill, relax on the deck, watch the birds, chill by the campfire, check out the awesome stars, and indulge on the property where you don't need to drive back in the dark afterwards.
  • very friendly and helpful host! beautiful birds frequent the property. beds are nice and comfy. worth a visit to Silent Lake provincial Park about 35-45 minutes north. also, try the schnitzel with mushroom sauce and cheese at 'The Swiss Bear' just out on the highway. Beautiful area for a getaway any time of year!

  • Tracey is an amazing host. She was super quick and very detailed with her communication. She gave us a lot of tips on exploring local places. Her property is in a quiet and serene place just a few minutes off the lake. We loved watching the humming birds feed while sipping our morning tea! Had a great time. :)

  • The cottage was wonderful! It’s cozy, very clean and has great amenities. The screened-in tent on the deck was perfect for rainy days and buggy nights. The view from the dock and fire pit were spectacular! I can’t recommend this cottage enough.

    Emily2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I got to experience a few days here. It was perfect for us - a family of 4. The cottage inside was clean and cozy. The view from the deck was great, especially at sunset. The deck has a wonderful bug screen which is a nice added touch. The firepit is right by the water and we spent a lot of time on the dock and water. Thank you!

    Mellisa2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing spot for vacation! This cottage is beautifully situated close to the water with a gradual slope to the dock. The water is perfect for swimming, with no weeds and shallow off the dock which was perfect for the kids! The fire pit is right on the waters edge, which was beautiful to spend under the night stars and hearing looms on the water. Exceptionally clean place with good size bedrooms. Thank you very much for hosting such a wonderful place for our family to go too!

The cottage is nestled on the scenic shores of Chandos Lake, one of the cleanest lakes in the Kawartha’s, a mere 2.5 hours northeast of Toronto and 3 hours from Ottawa. Well equipped with modern amenities, you sacrifice nothing. There is a gentle slope to the water’s edge where you’ll find a dock and a great swimming spot with a sandy bottom. There are 2 kayaks, a canoe and a paddleboat available for your use along with the recommended safety equipment.
This cottage is situated on 140 ft of pristine shoreline. Its the best of both worlds. An opportunity to experience the rugged beauty of the North Kawarthas, without sacrificing the comfort of modern amenities. The cottage was recently renovated from the ground up. Check out our Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/annieandmattslakehouse/?hl=en
Surrounded by forest, Chandos Lake is one of the premier lakes of the North Kawartha Region. The lake is large, deep, and clean (it covers 1,387 hectares and has a maximum depth of 157 feet). Chandos is situated between Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park (a canoeist's dream) and Silent Lake Provincials Park, an excellent spot to hike, snowshoe, or cross country ski. With each park only a 15 minute drive away, there are plenty of outdoorsy excursions to fill your time. The lake is situated close to the town of Apsley (a mere 10 minute drive from the cottage). This is where you can pick up groceries, gas, and supplies. The lake also has 3 marinas, a sandy public beach (just 5 minutes down the road), and a free public boat launch.
  • Annie & Matt’s cottage is lovely! What a beautiful spot! We had a great time sledding down the hill to the lake and relaxing in the cottage. We definitely recommend checking out Silent Lake Provincial Park nearby for snowshoeing in winter or hiking in summer. The house itself was more than enough space for our family of four. Sparkling clean with everything you need in the kitchen—we had a great stay. Annie & Matt were very quick to respond and checkin/out was super easy. Highly recommend.

    Jean2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful cottage:)

    Kasia2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great winter weekend at Annie & Matt’s cottage. The place is the perfect size for 7 people. Very clean and the amenities are fairly new. We did some walking on the frozen lake behind the cottage and even got to watch the sunset too! There were lots of DVD movies to choose from during our downtime. The fireplace is a nice touch and added coziness to the place. We really love the location; secluded enough but also within reasonable distance from local stores/restaurants.

    Theresa2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Super nice place! Stayed here with some friends and really enjoyed it. The space was clean, the kitchen was stocked, and the cottage was cozy!

    Shannon2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Our group visited Annie & Matt's for a long-weekend trip in February and we had a great time. The place is very comfortable and cozy, and is suitable for groups who want to mix indoor winter activities like board games and movies with outdoor activities at the nearby provincial parks. We would love to visit Annie & Matt's place again!

    Joseph2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We speant a Wintery February weekend here (2 parents, 3 kids, 2 grandparents) and we all had a lovely time. The winter vista from arounf the cottage is absolutely lovely. An absolute winter wonderland. The kids loved the space downstairs, and the adults loved the space upstairs. We'll be back in future winters.

    Benjamin2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Spent the weekend at Annie & Matt’s and had a great time with our family. Would book again : )

    Derrick2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Annie & Matt's place is a beautiful, cozy and clean cottage situated in a picturesque setting. 5 adults were very comfortable in the cottage and we enjoyed the amazing, relaxing view of the lake. The kitchen was stocked with everything that we needed. We didn't mind taking our own sheets and towels. As someone else mentioned, the lower level was cool so a warm sweater/layering is recommended during the winter months. The limited wifi/data was not a problem for us. It snowed all weekend, but we did not have any issues getting out of the driveway and down the road with our truck and friends' all wheel drive SUV. Annie & Matt were great at answering all our questions in a timely fashion. We highly recommend their cottage and hope to stay there again.

  • Riverside Suite is a real gem in the heart of Bancroft. The tranquil setting makes you forget you are so close to local amenities like shops and parks. This was our second time staying for the weekend and riding the Hastings Highlands Hilly Hundred. Thanks again Christine for your awesome hospitality and thoughtful touches. We're glad you're now part of the Ontario By Bike network. Already looking forward to the next time we stay with you.

  • My family had a great time staying at Christine’s place! The backyard is beautiful and the space is very nice!

  • Cozy pad in downtown Bancroft. I arrived by bike so it was nice to be able to walk to restaurants and other amenities. It was also a plus that I had covered / secure storage for my bike overnight. The apartment was well supplied and had everything I needed. Nice backyard on the river. If I had more time I would have taken advantage of that.

    Marc2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • It’s a nice place. The back garden is beautiful and you can launch a kayak into the river right from the backyard. The house is easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. It’s a cozy basement apartment.

    Gerard2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! The location is within walking distance of tons of local restaurants and experiences. My boyfriend and I loved the extra touches that she added to the Airbnb like the complimentary jar of BBQ rub and the access to the beautiful riverfront backyard seating. Fantastic!

    Tiffany2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • I love the notes on local things to do; and also on how stuff works in the space. I hadn't done a 2+ hour drive in a year; so I arrived pretty overwhelmed / exhausted. Having those reminders around the space was super helpful!

  • This cottage is everything you are looking and more. Excellent for a retreat to the basics of nature yet close to civilization! It has some overall wear and tear throughout and it is not the fanciest cottage, but it has everything you really need and that is what matters the most. A tons of movies dvds and several board games are a great touch (specially for winter). Lake and surroundings are gorgeous, Jeff is awesome and helpful, everything better than expected. 100% recommended and I would definitely go back.

  • We came up in the winter with our family of four (kids are 5 and 2). We really enjoyed the place. It was wonderful for what we wanted, which was a quiet weekend away from the city. Lovely views and a lovely drive into the area. Nice slope down the side for the girls to use their sled. When it was too cold for them to play outside there were many games inside they could play. The DVD selection is nice, seemed like there was something for everyone, also a good selection for the kids. We don’t have snowmobiles but we were told you can access the trails just at the end of the road. The butcher down the road is great, and a really friendly guy as well. The girls are already planning a return in summer, and I think it’s a great idea. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Hi Cynthia, Just a short note to let you know that we really enjoyed our visit. Your beautiful suite was only a short five five minute drive away from the function that we were attending. We found it to be attractively decorated, shiny and spotless ... the bed was very comfortable and all the amenities were right up-to-date. Although not necessary for us, we noticed also that suite was ideally "Handicap Friendly" .. ..... no steps, a large walk-in shower, wide doorways and necessary "grab bars"s. • Andrew's place was beautifully located and we could tell he has put a lot of work into making the place stylish and comfortable. We enjoyed being so close to nature, and the ability to experience it from the warmth of the hot tub. He was very prompt in responding, and met us at check-in to give a thorough tour. We would definitely stay here again!

  • This little gem is the perfect spot to relax and unwind. The thoughtful touches and sparkling clean accommodations makes it very easy to just enjoy yourself! Andrew and Treena were very welcoming and showed us around to make sure we were familiar with all the amenities! They really have thought of everything! Thank you again, we will be back and recommending you to all our friends!

  • Great spot to stay for snowmobiling trail is right down the road.

    Mark2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew was a great host, his place was modern, clean and especially liked the sauna and hot tub, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back again, 5 star experience

    Christine2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage suite was a perfect winter getaway. Andrew was able to recommend several great snowshoeing trails in the area, and the hot-tub and sauna were wonderful to come home to after a day on the trails. The suite has everything you need, the atmosphere by the lake is cottage-level cozy but the amenities they have thought of are hotel-level comfort. Andrew and Treena were great hosts - absolutely would recommend!

    Abby2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew and Treena have such a beautiful little place. They are great hosts and the apartment has all the amenities of an upscale hotel. The bed is so comfy, lots of towels and extra blankets. The unit was spotless and clearly very well maintained. I loved the decor and art. The hot tub was amazing, and so clean. Great job Andrew and Treena & thank you for having us!

    Lindsay2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew’s place was amazing and exactly what we were looking for in a mid winter couples getaway. Andrew was right on schedule to greet us gave us a complete tour and explained everything. Everything was sparkling clean and tastefully decorated. Andrew gave us great suggestions on local places to dine though his AirBNB site and great suggestions on places to Snowshoe when we asked. In short we had an awesome time and are planning to return again. We would highly recommend it to any couple looking for a winter getaway.. Thank-you Andrew!

    Todd2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • A great couple’s getaway (although there’s room for 3) and a good base for exploring Bancroft and the surrounding area (if you choose to leave the wonderful apartment that is). Andrew and Treena’s guest suite had everything you may need with many thoughtful details and some very luxurious amenities. The washroom especially is quite beautiful and the roomy shower stall rates 5 out 5 stars (as does the outdoor hot tub!) Other details we appreciated: the kitchenette has a good drip coffee maker (not just a Keurig type) for which they provide coffee beans and sugar. There’s also a large toaster oven and a “bullet-style” blender so you can make smoothies. Basically if you bring essential groceries, you’ll never need to leave the property. The entire suite is wired for sound with speakers you can connect to with your smartphone. The sauna (indoors) was nice too. We did venture out around the lake in our snowshoes and explored a bit of the area which is gorgeous Canadian Shield scenery. The hosts are very responsive if you have any questions or concerns. They live upstairs but give guests their full privacy and there was little noise at all from above. We highly recommend this accommodation!

Our unique, round cottage is on a beautiful sandy, non-motorized private lake in Coe Hill (north east of the Kawarthas, 20 mins south of Bancroft). It has three bedrooms plus a new Bunkie and comfortably sleeps 6 people. We’ve got a paddle boat, canoe and fishing boat for guests to enjoy. Features include: large beach area, floating dock, fire pit, ladder ball and outdoor playground. Walker’s Edge offers a large private grassy yard which gently slopes to the water making it ideal for families. Lots of room to run and play!
  • We had a lovely weekend stay at Walkers Edge. This cottage sits on a beautiful small private lake with lovely swimming and access to great swimming. The cottage itself is well laid out with a gorgeous view.

  • Dave’s place is absolutely perfect for a cottage getaway. It’s private enough but easy to get to. Myself and my partner Chris arrived just before sunset, poured some wine and he actually proposed on the dock. It was beautiful and such a surprise! The cottage is well stocked with everything you need for cooking/enjoying the water/games. We didn’t have the best weather but the inside is so relaxing and peaceful. The beds were super comfy too! The boys went out to the floating dock every day to fish. The lake was a perfect size. Absolutely no complaints! We will hopefully be back soon! Thanks again Dave!

    Jenell2019-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • We were a little apprehensive about booking this place because there weren’t any reviews but we are so glad we did!! This cottage has everything you could possibly need, our days started with a coffee out on the dock looking out over the water at all of the changing leafs across the lake. Once the kids were up we had breakfast around a spacious table, it has 4 seats and then an extra 4 chairs around the room that you can add in. Then my boyfriend and his kids went out fishing for morning, on the first day they went out on the boat for the day, on the second day they boated out to the raft and fished from there. (On the second day my boyfriend and I went out on the paddle boat, it’s very romantic with the view!) while the boys were fishing I watched a movie in the living room on a huge comfy couch that looks out to the water. They have all of the classic movies to choose from, it was hard to choose one. Then we BBQ’d lunch and played darts outside in the afternoon. I wish I had booked this place in the summer, we would have spent the whole day swimming and sunning. The water was clear, no seaweed at all. After dinner we played games in the living room (that were all provided) and later on we sat around the fire and made s’mores. All of the beds were comfy, there was plenty of room for a full family and more. The town is 5 minutes away and has a grocery and liquor store. We would definitely stay again and have already talked about booking next summer. It was well worth the money. Oh and I almost forgot, Dave (the owner) was great, there was no one booked the day before or after so he told me not to worry about check in and out times. He responded very quickly with all of the questions I had. Do yourself a favour and stay here, you won’t be disappointed!!

  • We booked on short notice and were impressed with the prompt and thorough communication and warm welcome from Cynthia. She met us personally and gave us a tour of the suite. It was cozy, well stocked and perfect for our needs. Special touches: electric fireplace was turned on for our arrival, very nice sheets and comforter, a cute loft for kids (that I just had to climb up and see), fridge stocked with some breakfast fixings that made for a great start to the day. Cynthia even left fresh biscuits outside our door on Sunday morning - WOW! She kindly shovelled around our vehicle after a big snowfall to make it easier on us. A superb host with an eye for detail.

  • We had a wonderful few days at Little Island Guest Suite. The Fall colours were just stunning and it was great to have use of the canoes to get out on the lake and see the colours reflected in it at close hand. Bancroft is a lovely little town. A lot to explore in the area or go a little further up to the beautiful Algonquin Provincial Park. Alternatively just stay put and enjoy the lake and extremely comfortable accomodation. Reminded us of the great film 'On Golden Pond' as we sat out one evening by the lake.

    Lynette2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • 10 minutes from downtown Bancroft, this place is a hidden gem. A private suite for you and your companions with a private beach area, free boats, canoes, and kayaks for you to use with all the necessary safety equipment for adults and kids. A campfire pit, hammock and plenty of seating and tables to enjoy the outdoors. Inside is roomy, the loft bed is great for kids and adults. Amenities are all amazing. A wonderful, perfect experience!

    Philip2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Where do I even start to describe Cynthia as a host? Impeccable. Unfortunately due to some very unforeseen and serious health issues, I had to cancel this trip less than two hours before our expected check-in time. Cynthia was a gem throughout the entire process. Not once did she make me feel uncomfortable or guilty. She was quick with her responses, compassionate, and sympathetic to what was a very difficult decision to cancel our much anticipated girl's weekend away. Cynthia even very generously agreed to refund us the full amount of our trip, despite her listed policy. Cynthia's kindness will not be forgotten. She understands that sometimes things simply cannot go as planned. We fully intend to book a future reservation with Cynthia and will be bringing a bottle of wine or another gesture at least as a small token of our gratitude (just let us know your preferred beverage/food, Cynthia ;) ).

  • Wow!! This cottage was awesome. Super clean and beautifully decorated. Patricia is a phenomenal host. Literally anything we had forgotten to bring we could look in a drawer or the shed and it was there! Definitely going to be booking again :)

  • 10/10, we were so happy about being here. Patricia responded quickly and we really had all the privacy we needed. If you like water, this lake is just beautiful, so clear, so nice with a beautiful dock with all the water activities you could ask for (paddleboards, pedal boat canoe, kayak, huge floaty) it's a GEM. There's so much space to hang out, very spacious and the beds were super comfortable. One bedroom on the main floor, pull out couch on the main floor in a separate area. Two bedrooms upstairs plus extra mattresses if need be. One bathroom, but we had no issues with it! We saw no bugs, other than the moths outside, surrounded by forest and fellow neighbours that you can see on the water. There's a fire pit, bbq, large deck with lots of sitting area. Also, an indoor fireplace with a beautiful dining room table that fit all seven of us easy. We have zero complaints, and will 100% be coming back. Thanks so much for having us.

    Melina2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great amenities...you won't lack for water activities! Found everything to be just as described in the listing. A lot of thought has clearly gone into making this a relaxing and fun cottage experience. (The internet did not work after 6 PM during our 4 night stay but this is the be expected in cottage country. Just made use of the games and fantastic firepit!) A lovely vacation spot.

  • We had such a great time at Patricia’s cottage. She is quick to respond at all times which was greatly appreciated. The cottage was very clean and there was lots of room for our group. Dickey lake was the perfect fishing spot for the kids they were catching fish non stop through the week. Great for swimming and the floating mat was a huge hit with the kids. So much for them to do. We would love to return again next year. Thanks again for hosting us!

    Barbara2019-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • You could not ask for a better cottage get away! Our group had the most amazing time at Patricia’s place. The lake front is amazing and all the water toys provided for a really fun day in the water. The cottage is cozy and very clean. There is enough room for a larger group and it truly felt like home for us. The bedrooms are all very comfortable and the living space is great for playing games and hanging out at night. The only thing we would have changed is increased the duration of our stay! Patricia was a great host and we hope to return.

  • My girlfriend and I stayed for 2 nights and we really loved it. The cabin is very clean, outfitted with everything you need and very secluded. It was great to read by the fire, drink tea and not hear any cars and only hear the wildlife outside. There was firewood ready for us to use, a small bathtub to relax in after a long day of hiking and even a projector for movies. What a great place! Thank you Peter!

  • “ Mother’s Place” ... A little farmhouse that has been lovingly updated yet still full of hints of personal history and wonder. This place has a sweet story behind this early 1900’s home that adds to its charm. Thank you Jean, for sharing some history. It sure made our stay give even more of an “at home” feel. We loved imagining who Helen was and what she was like and the goings-on of raising her family there. We also loved imagining who the person was behind the beautiful paintings ... and learning that D Price is your husbands grandmother... Helens mother in-law. We truly felt the love that lived in this home and the magic behind the name.... Jean, thank you for creating such a wonderful treasure. We are sure Helen would be very pleased and proud. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and your delicious maple syrup. We will be back! Lori Ann (Bobcaygeon ON) & Heidi (Foresters Falls ON)

We invite you to enjoy this unique glamping/cabin experience, a place to relax, simplify and recharge. Made of 80% upcycled materials, this one-room cabin has modern touches making you feel right at home: bed, small sitting area, and dining table. The covered porch has an outdoor kitchenette and chairs to lounge. Off the porch is a fire pit, then follow the path to a clean and airy outhouse. With your own dock, you can swim, canoe, and take in both a sunrise and sunset; absolute perfection.
PLEASE READ *IMPORTANT* INFO: Below, we have worked to give you the clearest picture of what to expect from the space and your stay. Any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us :) The Bunkie neighbours our cottage, the only two places on the island, but enjoys its own private setting facing the lake. We each have our own private docks on different sides of the island too. There is a common space between, and behind, the Bunkie and our cottage, where you'll find a badminton net, that you are free to use :) As there really isn't anywhere to walk on the island, the dock in front of the Bunkie is for your use and offers the freedom to travel by water. A canoe is provided with life jackets and safety kit. This beautiful lake has many islands and lots of nooks and crannies to explore (always travel with a phone/GPS). You may want to consider bringing with you a SUP board for some extra fun, or a floating water toy! Water toys are available to rent in Lakefield, the nearest town, at Cottage Toys. A short paddle away you'll find two short walking trails (map provided). It is recommended that you bring your phone/GPS and stay on the well-marked path, as you will be surrounded by miles and miles of crown land. On weekends we will be sharing the island with you. Our back deck and bbq can be in earshot of your Bunkie depending on wind, etc. We aren't rowdy partiers but occasionally we have friends up. We will let you know :) Our fire pit is on the other side of the island and noise can't be heard from this area of the island. Mid-week the lake is at its quietest, and you will most likely have the whole island to yourself. Sometimes we come up mid-week to enjoy an evening at the lake, but we'll give you a heads up. Respecting your privacy is our top priority. Yet we also love meeting new people and open to sharing a drink should the timing work for everyone. Please note, we have a dog, Daisy, who is friendly and easy-going. If a dog is a deal-breaker for you, contact us before booking and we may be able to arrange a no-dog stay for you. Otherwise, due to the island experience, when we are on the island, we can't keep her from popping over to meet you. We request that our guests be adults and that only 2 occupants visit at one time. If a parent and older child would like to stay, contact us and let us know. THE AREA: The Bunkie is located on an island at the end of a bay with lots of privacy. To the East, the island is surrounded by crown land and to the West, and one diagonally across from the Bunkie, we have a sprinkling of friendly cottagers'. It is important to note that peak seasons can bring the odd speed boat going for a zip around the lake, it is cottage country after all. You’ll also see people drifting by enjoying the fishing. GETTING THERE: Parking is at Stony Point Marina (easy to find on Google Maps), parking is $10/day, payable to the Marina. Options getting to and from the Island: Water Taxi: We pick you up and drop you off at both ends of your stay. It's about a 10min boat ride. Canoe: Bring your own canoe and paddle in, it’s about 45 min at a relaxed pace. Boat: Bring your own boat. Note: this lake is very rocky and not always marked. Give plenty of space around markers, travel with care. Please respect clean boat etiquette, to avoid bringing any unwanted marina life into the lake. If all of this sounds like something you would enjoy, we look forward to hearing from you and sharing this beautiful piece of paradise! Contact us with any questions.
  • Thanks, Krista and Andre! You guys went above and beyond -picking us up at the Marina, having the bunkie nice and cozy for when we got there and being so quick to reply!. We loved our winter getaway!

    Niki2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a memorable trip here! The fall colors were beautiful, and it was the perfect place to spend a long weekend. Watching sunsets like that and sitting under the stars is not something we get to do everyday so it was an amazing experience for us. The outdoor amenities took some getting used too because of the colder temperatures outside and the cooking outside forced us to get a little creative. However, we made it work and had a blast doing it together. Overall, Krista and Andre made this such an easy, relaxing, experience for us. I loved the PDF they sent along with helpful information about the bunkie so we could prepare properly.

    Lily2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Special find! Krista and Andre were very gracious hosts. The bunkie itself is amazing—beautifully located in the serene Kasshabog lake. The cabin is equipped with a comfortable bed, small wood stove with great heat capacity, a mini fridge+ bbq. A highlight for us was exploring the inlets surround the island with the bunkie’s canoe. All that to say, if you are looking for a comfortable, relaxing, and rejuvenating escape, the bunkie is the place to book!

  • Had the most incredible weekend up at the bunkie! It has everything you need for a cozy getaway and is fantastic to relax and unwind. The island is tucked away at the end of the lake arm and it is so wonderfully quiet and relaxing. Being able to cook and eat outside with a beautiful lake view was wonderful. Krista & André are fantastic hosts and are incredibly thorough and helpful with everything you need!

  • Melissa is truly a fabulous hostess. Everything about her home is gorgeous, from the dock to the cottage itself. The view alone is impeccable. Melissa is very thoughtful and was easy to reach before, during, and after our stay. I highly recommend staying with Melissa, her hospitality and her home make the stay worth every penny.

    Amanda2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, comfortable, well-equipped cottage with a great view over beautiful Jack Lake. The descriptions are accurate (including the references to relatively tame wildlife wandering through the yard!) and the communication with the hosts was excellent. The only thing we’d suggest is the addition of wifi. A very good option for anyone from Toronto or Ottawa looking for a cottage getaway.

    Scott2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time staying at Melissa's cottage. We grew up with a family cottage on the lake and it was unfortunately sold about 12 years ago and subsequently torn down. We decided to return to the lake and booked with Melissa. The cottage itself was tastefully decorated and larger than it appeared in the photos. There is a large picture window in the living room which overlooks the lake. Many amenities were provided and even a nice welcome basket! The cottage was very clean which was greatly appreciated. Beautiful modern kitchen and an amazing view. For those not familiar with Jacks Lake, the area is spectacular and a hidden gem in the Kawarthas. The water is clean and clear, swimming conditions off the dock were exactly as described with no weeds and the sunsets are gorgeous. Neighbours are friendly and quiet. The wildlife is very tame due to no hunting allowed, we had the opportunity to feed and pet deer, chipmunks, squirrels and even a groundhog! This place is pretty close to paradise. We would go back in a heartbeat and we hope to stay for a week every summer in the future. Thanks Melissa for making our return to Jacks Lake a memorable and special one that we will cherish for years to come.

    Esther2018-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Melissa was a great host, stayed in contact throughout our stay, and went out of her way to ensure we had linen and towels provided. The cottage is located on a scenic Jack Lake, with lots of wild life. The picture with deer is not an exaggeration, we had deer around all weekend. Cottage kitchen is newly renovated, with new floors. Highly recommend, and will stay again!

The suite is lovely, with big windows showing off the view. The kitchen is stocked with every cooking item you could need, making it very easy to cook in. The property is gorgeous, with walking paths running alongside a creek. Its also close enough to Bancroft to make site-seeing and grocery shopping very easy. • Aileen is the best host that I've come across. She was very accommodating when the weather changed our trip. The breakfast she cooked was amazing! The suite is modern and very comfortable and very well appointed. We will be back for sure!

  • Aileen was fantastic. She greeted us upon our arrival and saw us off as we left. The space was more than we expected for a nights stay, stocked with whatever we may need and super clean. Aileen graciously made us breakfast in the morning and provided numerous options as well. The wood burning fireplace was great as well, kept the place nice and cozy. I would recommend staying her to anyone that is thinking about visiting Bancroft!

  • Excellent, fantastic.....not much more I can say really. Perfect place, host and breakfast. You have to try this great place, think it must be the best B&B in the country. Would 200% recommend staying at Suite In The Bush

    Lynne2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I spent 3 nights at Aileen's place and can without a doubt confirm that it is the BEST Airbnb experience to date! The apartment itself is completely private, very cozy and chalked full of amenities (snacks, drinks, coffee bar, toiletries, wifi, netflix - you name it). It overlooks the peaceful backyard complete with a fire pit, cozy seating and resident chipmunk. Aileen and her husband live upstairs, where you will visit for the made to order breakfast that is included with the rate! This is something that we have never experienced on Airbnb before, and it's definitely a game-changer. You can choose from a variety of dishes on the menu, like eggs benedict, german pancakes, strawberry cream cheese grilled croissants.. the list goes on. It's a great start to the day and leaves you very full for a day of exploring. Bancroft exceeding our expectations for things to do and sights to visit. Highly recommend hiking around Eagles Nest for a beautiful view, visiting the sodalite mine to find your own gems (Aileen even let us borrow her rock pick) and driving along one of the many North Hastings scenic routes. If you've made it this far into my review, do yourself a favour and just BOOK the place already. You will not regret it!

  • Boyd’s place is great! Reminds you of what a cottage really should be. It’s simple, has everything you need, right on the water, with a breathtaking view. On top of that Boyd is a phenomenal host. He is very responsive and thoughtful. It snowed on my last night there and he messaged in the morning asking if I needed the driveway plowed. I really appreciate that type of hospitality! One thing to note: The cottage is right on Hwy 28, so you can hear cars going by. It didn’t bother me at all though :)
