Mawddach Cabin situated above the famous Mawddach estuary in the Snowdonia National Park. Hot tub with breath taking views and access to a private beach Pets allowed Very private and only 3-4mile drive from seaside town Barmouth Hot tub will be situated on a balcony overlooking the sea
  • We had the most chilled couple of days in the pod! It’s the perfect place to switch off from the rest of the world for a little while. The bed was super comfy and there are all the basics you need for a comfortable stay. It’s very private and secluded, we never saw anybody else whilst staying there but Ali was available to contact and quick to respond should we need her. Would definitely come back!

  • What a great experience! First time we had stayed in a pod. It was really cosy and with the radiator on it didn't feel like a log cabin at all! It was fun cooking on a gas stove and when I daftly thought we had run out of gas, Ali very sweetly directed me to "look under the sink" and there were plenty more. Her husband even came and brought us more! We were well looked after and very cosy. The hot tub was an absolute treat! Never felt so relaxed in my life. Sadly couldn't use it the next day as the winds were pretty strong but we expected that in March. For dog owners, it's worth bearing in mind that the sheep roam freely so keep the dog on a lead. We had no problems at all but just thought it might be good to know. Thank you for a brilliant experience!

  • Beautiful little pod in a secluded area, lovely views from the hot tub which was all ready for us when we got there. Check in was super easy. If you’re looking for somewhere to eat in Barmouth, the Last Inn serves delicious food! Will definitely be back!

  • Amazing place! Great secluded location and Ali sent us a video of how to find the place a few weeks before which was really helpful. Hot tub was amazing looking out over the bay. Will definitely be staying again

  • Amazing sunset view. Lovely place and beautiful location.

  • Amazing night away for my partners birthday. Even considered booking an extra night whilst there. Communication was great with Ali - before and during the stay. Looking forward to visiting in the summer and enjoying the private beach. Top tip for future stayers: use the hot water bottles as plate warmers ;)

    Shane2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location, quiet and secluded spot overlooking the water. Cosy and comfortable little cabin with everything you could need for a short stay. Hot tub was warm and ready for use when we arrived. Faultless easy check in and out system and the hosts provided easy to follow written and video directions to the location prior to our stay which was much appreciated. Would definitely visit again.

  • We had an amazing night away here at snowdonia! A lovely cosy lodge, with an incredible view!! Just our luck that we went during a bad storm- so we couldn’t use the hot tub, we will be back in summer to make full use of the hot tub.

  • We enjoyed our stay in the shepherds hut despite some bad weather. The hot tub was fantastic! The location is very private and you feel in the middle of nowhere at the same time as being a 5 minute drive into town. Check in was perfect and the hut was immaculate. The hut is Very warm and has everything you need. We would love to return in the summer to make the most out of the outside space

  • Great place to visit with amazing views!

    Andrew2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most amazing stay at the shepherds hut for my boyfriends birthday. Even though it was raining we still made the most of the place. Ali was amazing with responses as we asked if there was anywhere we could grab fire wood and she came back immediately and offered to bring some straight over with a charge of £6 (for anyone wondering) which we didn’t mind paying. We hope to come back over the summer when it’s lovely and sunny.

    Ellen2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • This Sheppard hut was beautiful, however that view is amazing. Only fault I found was that the view is blocked with gorse bushes when your sat in the hot tub. I recommend they be cut down or just cut enoughso that you can see that view. Apart from that we will be back again. One night wasn't enough. We were greeted in the morning by a big horse, very friendly.

  • Lovely place, really great stay. The views are absolutely incredible and we truly lucked out with the weather. It was our first weekend away to Wales, and was totally worth it. We popped down to Barmouth (The Royal Hotel) is a must! Thank you for a wonderful stay! We even met the local sheep and pony :) Thank you!

    Teri2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • The location of the Shepard's hut is wonderful. A dip in that hot tub in under the stars, surrounded be fairy lights was a totally magical experience. Ali provided detailed directions which made it super easy to find. The hut was comfy and cosy, with lots of thoughtful touches that made it feel like home.

    Amy2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the Shepherds Hut, what a secluded & peaceful location. The hot tub was amazing, so relaxing. The bed was much bigger than we thought too. Thank you for arranging roses (Valentines Day) via my boyfriend who proposed further down the coast! This place will always have a special place in my heart and we will be most definitely be back.

Our dog friendly Annexe is spotlessly clean and is separated entirely from the main house with its own private entrance. SORRY! BRING OWN LOO ROLLS. After each visit, we spend almost 4 hours deep cleaning, including disinfecting all sufaces and soft furnishings. With magical views, wonderful walking from the door and mountain biking, The Annexe is superbly placed for exploring mountains and coast and touring south Snowdonia. It is ideal for small families, artists and nature lovers.
Our dog friendly Annexe to a traditional Welsh hillside cottage is the perfect place to get away from it all, yet within 15 minutes drive from the seaside town of Barmouth and lovely town of Dolgellau , with their shops and restaurants. (The bus service for both towns is at the foot of the lane). Accessed via its own private drive, the property is set high up above the lane which leads to the Clogau Goldmine in the picturesque Hirgwm Valley, the views are second to none. We are in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park (Website hidden by Airbnb) and your private garden overlooks the Mawddach Estuary with its ever changing swirling waters and sands, and the magnificent Cadair Idris mountain. There is a South facing private patio and the garden is just a step outside. There is easy access from the door to mountain and river trails for walks and mountain biking. Free Parking available on site. Please note that mobile phone coverage here is poor, but we have recently had a WiFi booster fitted and the internet signal in the Annexe is vastly improved. VOIP and other internet calling such as Skype is accessible. (Hidden by Airbnb) so telephone calls are no problem. Please note we no longer have a washing machine but we have installed a dishwasher. PLEASE NOTE The stairs to the sleeping platform are fairly narrow and steep "paddle" stairs. Guests with young children should also note that the sleeping platform has rails and it is advised to sleep children downstairs. There is a double bed in the sleeping space, a double bed setee in the lounge, a simple fold out single futon, a really good camp bed and a lovely new sturdy travelling cot with bassinet which can be placed up or downstairs. It would be helpful to know if you need to use the Futon, camp beds or bedsetee when you book. Please note that as the space is effectively open plan, privacy can be compromised!
The cottage is set in the mythical heartland of Wales where the stories of King Arthur and the tales of the Mabinogion abound, and prehistoric cromlechs and standing stones testify to early settlements, The charming market town of Dolgellau is 3 miles away and the seaside resort of Barmouth with its broad, sandy beaches and small fairground lies 4 miles to the west. Both are well served with supermarkets where you can find all you need. The magnificent medieval castles of Caernarfon, Harlech and Conway are close by, together with several outstanding gardens including Bodnant and Port Meirion. The area boasts six narrow gauge mountain railways with steam locomotives for enjoyable trips. Painters and sculptors exhibit in the area and local crafts include handwoven textiles, slate and wood carving and jewelry. You can listen to Welsh choirs and harp music, and in the summer visit sheepdog trials. The region abounds with rivers, waterfalls and lakes for fishing. You can visit slate and silver mines and ride the exciting 100 kph ziplines slung across slate quarries. There are a variety of nearby restaurants ranging from country mansions in the hills to quaint pubs serving simple food and local craft ales, not to mention a Tapas bar with a chef who hails from Bilbao.
  • The annex we stayed in is set in the mode beautiful quiet surroundings within easy reach of shops, the beach, pubs and restaurants.

  • Couldn’t recommend enough, such a. Beautiful stay and we will 100% be returning!

    Sophie-Louise2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • A real gem having the hot tub river side, it rained most the time we were there but didn’t matter in a cosy pod with a hot tub! Spoke to the host on the first night, lovely and welcoming, told us a couple of nice walking routes and the hosts dogs were friendly too. Tea, coffee and biscuits were a good touch but the best was having a stove, brought bacon and batches with us, smell of bacon cooking from the hot tub, amazing! 💕

    Mel2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing weekend away! Pod was clean, smart and up to date. WiFi was good and liked the little touches of Netflix and coffee, tea and buiscuits! No toaster so if you like toast I’d bring one! Other than that, the pod is beautiful. Saw owners a handful of times and they seemed nice! Will be booking again !

    Melanie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Nice little hut, exactly as described

    Jessica2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, definatly worth a stay.

    Dave2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent accommodation, exceptional value. The bed and bedding are so comfortable, and the radiator soon warmed up the pod. The hot tub is a brilliant experience right by the river. A short walk to the George pub, which was outstanding. I would highly recommend this accommodation, it is set in such a peaceful location. Lovely friendly hosts.

    Serena2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay! On arrival we were greeted and given some nice walking routes. The pod itself is great - bed comfy, clean and very warm considering how small the heater was + the hot tub was wonderful. The dogs were also lovely! We had clear instructions in the pod itself explaining how to operate the hot water and we had no problems whatsoever with the temperature. Overall had a great few days away despite hurricane Dennis! Thank you

    Hannah2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely pod which is actually bigger than it looks in the photos. It’s kept nice and clean and has the majority of things that you could want including tea/coffee, a hob, kettle, pots & pans and towels. We went during really bad weather and flooding but the pod was fine and kept nice and warm with the little heater that’s in there. The hot tub was brilliant and really relaxing right next to the river. There is also a great pub about 10/15 mins walk away which served really lovely food. The only things I would suggest is a blind over the front door to stop light coming in and also a toaster would come in handy. Overall a great stay and would love to return in better weather.

'Noddfa' is a Welsh word meaning 'sanctuary' . Situated on the first floor it enjoys far-reaching views. The lobby leads into a spacious living/dining area and fitted kitchen. Beyond is a generous master bedroom suite with kingsize bed, dressing room and generous ensuite shower room. The second bedroom features twin beds and another ensuite shower room. Noddfa is pet friendly and affords spacious accommodation for up to 4 adults or children along with shared access to a hot-tub and deck.
Noddfa is one of 3 apartments in Bryn Melyn Apartments. Formerly a highly-rated guest house the building was sympathetically transformed in 2017 into high quality holiday apartments over two floors. Accommodating a maximum of ten guests across the 3 apartments the complex offers a 'mini-resort' feel with a luxurious sun-deck featuring a BBQ and hot-tub, plus private car park.
The apartments are situated on the edge of Barmouth, a characterful small town situated at the mouth of the scenic Mawddach Estuary. Surrounded with stunning scenery and blessed with an awesome blue-flag beach Barmouth also has a healthy High Street full of independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants and is a perfect location from which to explore the Snowdonia National Park.
  • We booked here last minute due to having our original holiday cancelled. Despite being disappointed about our original holiday, this place certainly made up for it and gave us the much needed break we required! Before we arrived, David sent us comprehensive instructions on how to get there and what to expect when once we did. On arrival we were greeted by David who showed us around the amenities at the house. He even gave us a few tips on the local walks and footpaths to take. There was a hot tub outside which we didn’t use, but it looked lovely and there was a gorgeous decking area overlooking the estuary. The apartment itself was fabulous! Modern and fresh in decoration, masses of space and all mod cons you could think of. In fact it was a home from home! It was spotlessly clean and there was every piece of crockery and cutlery you required. I’ve stayed in some places before where you struggle to find a sharp knife or only have one saucepan to cook with...this place had everything! We were left a pint of milk in the fridge, a bottle of red wine and even a packet of treats for our dog, which I thought was a lovely touch and definitely made it extra special. There were instructions on recycling, tips on local restaurants and pubs and even a ‘dog friendly’ guide for places in Barmouth. They really did cover everything! They even changed the pillows to hypoallergenic ones for us as my wife as allergies to feathers. The views from the apartment were stunning! We normally stop or camp on the north side of Barmouth, so it was a real treat to have such fantastic views of the estuary from the living room and bedroom on the south side of the town! For any bird watchers, you get a view of many different birds on the tables that were in the garden below the living room window. It was mesmerising in the morning to watch them feed! In the hallway downstairs, there were books, board games, maps local walk guides to look at. In fact if you’re like me and never fail to forget an OS map (I have four for Snowdonia at home!) there was no shortage here if you fancied a yomp! It was a 10 minute walk downhill to the nearest town pub, The Last Inn and probably 15 minutes to the centre of the town. It was 15ish minutes back uphill to the house. It was a steep hill off the main road, but certainly doable. We caught a taxi the second night as we had some shopping bags and the weather was howling in true Welsh style. It cost £5 from the Co-op to the house which was pretty reasonable and well worth avoiding getting soaked! Overall, I couldn’t recommend this place enough. Everything you could think of had been thought of and more! I would not hesitate in recommending this place to anyone and the owners were friendly and so helpful! We will definitely stay here again in the future!

Situated in a private tranquil woodland in the snowdonia national park, near seaside town Barmouth.
The pod has a double bed , table and chairs and small cooking area, a small gas stove available to boil a kettle. Please bring cooking accessories ( pans, cups, plates ) The toilet and shower are situated behind the pod in a separate space. The glamping site runs off of solar power, because of its location there is also very limited phone signal. WELCOME TO WALES The hot tub heats up by using wood, the first bag of logs will be provided A very special location
The pod is situated in a very private woodland around 5 mins from the main road and 10 mins from Barmouth
  • Beautiful spot with great views all around the valley. The pod is basic but clean and just about warm enough even though it was 2 degrees C the night we stayed, shower and toilets really clean, hot tub was fun but difficult to get really hot due to how cold the weather was. Overall a nice place to stay, need to come back in summer to really see the best of it.

    Tristan2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Would stay again in the summer but not the winter! The forest area is magical and well kept. We stayed in the middle of winter and I don’t think they’re very well set up for this. We arrived soon after check in but the hot tub was pretty cool and with the small amount of wood supplied there was no chance to get it hot and no signal to be able to ask for more. There’s no heating in the hut, no cooking equipment and the bed’s uncomfy - all would have been fine if we weren’t disappointed about the hot tub! We didn’t meet the host but there’s obviously been a lot of time and love gone into setting up the site and I’m sure it’s perfect in the summer!

    Emma2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay. Struggled a little with getting the hot tub hot managed to get it just warm but other than that it was well worth the money.

    Karl2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay despite the weather, but what did we expect or January. The hot tub took a bit of figuring out but once we got the hang of it was amazing. We did stupidly put the fire out but messaged the host and they replied back immediately and came up to help us fix it so thank you for the great communication and quick replies! Lovely hosts and a lovely peaceful stay, thank you again, we will definitely be revisiting in warmer weather ☀️

    Jessica2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful time for my boyfriend 25th birthday, would definitely stay again but maybe not in January next time. Hot tub was lush, hot water wasn’t working in the shower but as soon as we got signal the problem was resolved, and some complimentary logs left for the inconvenience. Location is perfect and so private, big tip, don’t forget your wellies and a few lights. In Barmouth we visited Harlech castle and Rhaeadr Nantcol waterfall, went for a lovely meal at the last inn where service was Devine.

    Kendall2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay, really secluded with only one other shepherds hut next door. It is a beautiful location in the hills with sheep coming to visit in the morning and many birds including owls although we only heard them. The Hot tub was amazing when we got it right. One night we only managed warm but the next night we got it super hot. It's a short drive to the nearest shops/bars/restaurants in Barmouth, which is a great place for a wander. It was pretty muddy so be prepared if it has been wet. Would definitely recommend if you want a simple no frills stay away from the world. Make sure you bring everything you would need for camping including warm clothes, sleeping bags, wellies drinking water and all your cooking equipment.

  • Had a lovely stay at this farm. The host gave clear directions on how to reach the place. The location was nice as expected and the house was clean with every amenities provided. It was lovely to meet the host as well. They were very hospitable. My friends suggested that we visit again in summer time. Also, the host’s responses on the messages were quick which I appreciated. I would definitely recommend this place.

  • The location is excellent for walking, cycling or just to relax. The accommodation was as described and great value. If you are tall, take care with the low beams. Great hosts with advice and local knowledge a plenty, if needed. The Granary was very cosy given the cold weather during our stay. Would recommend and would stay again.

  • The perfect location and the quirkiest little house! The host was fantastic, great communication and very friendly and warm when we were there. No signal/WiFi which we also loved! Location was fantastic, perfect base for exploring Snowdonia with walks right on your door step. The only thing I would say is the main bedroom is over the downstairs apartments living room and a lot of noise came through. I mention this if you are a light sleeper or have dogs who bark at any noise (like I do). Other than that it was the perfect stay and would definitely return!

  • We had the loveliest time here and the surrounding areas were gorgeous so many places to see and stuff to do. We can’t wait to book again

    Stephi2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • Booked this for my partners birthday, something completely different to what we’d usually book. Overall we really enjoyed our stay - although it does feel like you are in someone’s garden but once you are in the pod and hot tub it’s very private. The pod has everything you need and the COMFIEST bed! You really are with nature with no TV or phone signal. The hot tub was so cosy amongst the trees and by the river both day and night, but not sure what we did as the hot tub cooled down a lot when we used it in the late evening. We was unfortunate with the rain as there is no shelter for the hot tub but we did not let this ruin our time. There are some outdoor lights that are not working but this does not affect visibility. Had a lovely meal locally at the royal ship hotel. My partner did say he would have preferred a roll down blind covering the door for privacy. In my opinion I do think £147 may be slightly expensive, however as this is not something we usually book I wouldn’t know competitive prices. Thank you again was a lovely stay.

  • Kevin's place is wonderful, great views, excellent touches that leave feeling really spoiled. Kevin could not have been more flexible, welcoming and hospitable. The pod is very homely and we found we had everything we needed. very much look forward to coming back!!

  • Lovely hosts that go the extra mile. They even booked a table for us at a local restaurant they'd kindly recommended and called the day before for us to confirm it. Both Kevin and his wife made a special effort to greet us and converse with us. They both have very friendly personalities. The extra treats were a lovely surprise. The accommodation was spotless The shower and toilet facilities are basic but are clean and functional

    Rachael2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Kevin’s hospitality was spot on exactly what it says on the tin little cosy pod with everything you would need for a short stay. Shower and toilet block are what you would expect from campsite standards basic but clean tidy maintained. The views are spectacular especially on a clear night the sky is lit with stars and small touches that Kevin and his family have created make it all the more special. Although it was late getting there Kevin still made the effort to come and welcome me and made sure I had everything I needed. Would love to this this grow with a few more pods at the location. Thank you Kevin + family

    Steve2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and comfortable pod in a stunning location. Kevin was a great host who made us feel very comfortable during our stay. Would definitely recommend.

    Scott2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Kevin’s for one night, and were made to feel extremely welcome. As there is only one pod, there is a lovely sense of privacy to the stay. The beautiful Mawddach Estuary is only a stone’s throw from the location, which was great for us and the dog! Extra touches (chocolate and prosecco!) were very thoughtful and much appreciated. The pod was clean and cosy, and had its own private ‘garden’ area, where we sat to have breakfast in the morning, overlooking the water and the hills nearby. Would thoroughly recommend.

Located within the Snowdonia National Park close to the stunning Mawddach estuary and Cader Idris mountain range. Close by is the Mawddach trail with traffic free access to Barmouth and Fairbourne with their sandy beaches. This is a small one roomed flatlet with one double bed which sleeps 1-2 people. It was converted in the 1970's and retains it's retro touches. The toilet is seperate located in the building opposite and the shower room is next door in the utility room.
We have a river running through the farm which can be used for fishing. We have a spacious garden for your dogs and children to play in and a seating area to relax in. We also offer direct access onto the Mawddach trail.

  • Beautiful and quiet farm. The host was very nice and reactive. The sea is at 10 or 20minutes by car depending on the beach. It's 1h drive from snowdon and 15 min from Cader idris. Inside the house, there is everything that you need except the wifi and not much internet service. We spent a great time in this farm!

Hendre Fechan Cottage is a 1616 century cottage built from traditional Welsh stone, the Welsh Tourist Board has graded it as 4 stars. It is newly refurnished in a tasteful manner, surrounded by beautiful countryside, sea views and old buildings found at the end of traditional private farm lane. Based in Tal-y-Bont, we have been welcoming guests since March 2010. This beautiful cottage is half a mile from the main road and is situated on an equestrian property in the beautiful countryside of Snowdonia National Park. The busy seaside resort of Barmouth is squeezed into the small amount of habitable space between the hills and the water on the North side of the Mawddach estuary as it reaches the sea. Barmouth Map & Directions Barmouth is the start and finish of the Mawddach Way and the start (or finish) of the popular Mawddach Trail which runs along the old Barmouth to Dolgellau railway line. Barmouth has plenty of shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs and ice cream parlours. It can be very quiet outside of the summer months with some of the cafes and restaurants closed, but there is always somewhere to find a meal or a snack, and some would argue that this is the best time to visit. The iconic Barmouth railway bridge, just outside of the town, is one the most photographed and instantly recognisable features in all of Wales. Bike Hire is available in the town.
  • We had a fabulous time at this wonderful little cottage. It has everything you need and is really cosy. There is also lots to do in the area and the host is really friendly and helpful.

  • Sam's cottage is perfect for a relaxing holiday. Well equipped, cosy and clean. There is underfloor heating in the bedroom and bathroom and a wood burner in the lounge. The bright lights of Barmouth are a short drive away and I highly recommend the Panoramic Walk - you get some stunning views. The beaches in the area are fabulous, particularly in winter when there's hardly anyone else around. Our dog is now thoroughly exhausted! Thanks for a lovely stay.

  • AMAZING! If you are looking for the perfect out of the way cottage this is it! This is so cozy you won’t want to leave. Excellent bed, lovely bathroom and a fireplace that keeps you so warm. Sam is an excellent host and is very quick to respond to anything. She even did our grocery shopping the first night! Mind the road if you are driving it’s a beauty! We had no trouble getting around by bus, taxi and train. Don’t miss this opportunity...it’s the best Airbnb we have been in and we have been in a lot!

    Wendy2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time in Sam’s cottage. It is in a lovely, remote location but within walking distance of the sea. The cottage is spacious and very clean, and the under-floor heating was an absolute delighter, making it nice and snug even when it was close to freezing outside. Sam was very accommodating and quick to respond to any questions. We would love to return to that area of Wales and we would be very happy if we were able to stay in Sam’s cottage again - thanks Sam!

  • I highly highly highly recommend this place, it’s stunning. It’s absolutely beautiful. The people are so lovely and helpful. We went for my partners 21st and they dressed the tent up with balloons and banners and we had a bottle off Prosecco that they had done for us, the tents are lovely, hot tub is amazing, the views from your tent are out off this world, the whole experience is amazing! We will definitely 100% be going back!

    Sofia2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Me, the girlfriend and our two Black Labs only stayed at Phil’s for one night, but I have to say it was fantastic. The views are exceptional, even in the wind and rain. The dogs loved walking across the estuary, and the private gate from the site made it very easy and accessible. Although the Tents aren’t massive, perfectly big enough and cosy enough for all four of us, just what you expect from a glamping site. As advised we took an extra Duvet, but the tent never got cold thanks to the Electric heater supplied, we read many reviews saying the beds where hard, they where, but again, it’s only what you expect from glamping in my opinion, and weren’t uncomfortable in our experience. The Woodfired hot tub was fantastic, we spent hours in there, only getting out to keep the fire stoked up. We didn’t get chance to use the other amenities because of the rain and wind, but the fire pit and BBQs where all supplied with wood and the gas hobs all looked in good condition and worked fine. Only thing We would say was the toilet block could do with a little clean and the door doesn’t lock fully, but it was never a problem with it being such a small site. We both can’t stress enough how amazing the views are at Phil’s, truly breathtaking, and Phil’s hospitality was excellent, showed us round when checking in and made sure we had everything, even while he was dosed up with Flu. All helped us feel comfortable, and meant a truly relaxing and laid back stay, nothing we needed more. Definitely be back soon.

  • If you're looking for a get away this is it we loved it. We booked on a whim just a "this looks nice" moment and I'm so glad we did, we felt welcome and comfortable the whole time. If you are going in the later part of the year I would say take an extra blanket and duvet we did and it was a god send for a rainy night. The bed is a palette with thin cushions so anyone staying for more than 2 night like us may benefit taking some extra padding for the bed for comfort, otherwise it was great. Phillip was hospitable got the hot tub lit for us and was quick at responding to messages. The BnB is only a 5 minute drive into the town and well worth going to it's beautiful. The whole trip was amazing and we would happily go back

    Sam2019-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great location Fab beach opposite totally private our dogs loved it Same as everyone else has said on here take an extra quilt or blow up mattress as bed very hard Only one small frying pan so if you like a fry up take an extra pan We cooked on the fire pit which was great lots of wood easily lit amazing views Would recommend for a 1 or 2 night stay Geoff was on hand and very helpful

    Lynn2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • The only issue with our stay was the weather! We couldn’t fault Philip’s service, the location or the tent itself. Just a shame we couldn’t use the hot tub to be honest! One thing I will say though is we took the advice of previous reviews and brought a spare duvet and pillows, this just made sure we were as comfortable as possible ☺️ will definitely be back!

    Chloe2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay here. Definitely recommend.

    George2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We have just returned from a two-night stay at Phil's place and we had the perfect time. The tents are in an idyllic location, just across the way from the estuary. The space is peaceful and ideal for relaxing, despite the bustling seaside town of Barmouth just a few minutes drive away. The road below can get a little busy at times, but it is to be expected. It never interrupted our sleep. Something you might want to note when getting to the site is where it is situated - check out the road on Google Maps beforehand as it bears off on a sharpish corner to a little but fairly steep hill (our small 1 litre engine wasn't a fan!) The tent itself (we were in the one nearest to the shared bathroom) was cosy and had everything we needed for a short stay. There was also cutlery and cooking essentials in a storage box near the tent. We took notice from previous reviews and took a duvet to sleep on top of, as well as one for over us, and we had a comfy two nights. There are heaters in the room so we were always comfortable and warm enough. One thing we were particularly looking forward to was use of the hot tub which was lovely and warm when the fire was maintained. We used it twice during our stay and it was a lovely way to wind down and wrap our evenings up. Prior to our stay, I let Phil know that I would be using the trip to propose to my girlfriend and he was very kind when I asked if I could send a small decoration to put up after the proposal. We took a hike where I then proposed (to which was a success!) we returned to the tent which had been fully decorated with balloons, banners, roses, chocolates and prosecco! We couldn't believe how thoughtful our hosts were - it certainly topped off our entire weekend. Because of how happy we've been with our stay, it's hard to make any negative comment on the place. However, we would like to be completely honest with other guests. The only issue we had with the stay was the bathroom; the door didn't shut/lock properly - this wasn't a major issue for us as it was only two tents but we could see it being a problem for other people. We also found the light switch to be pretty temperamental. Otherwise, it was absolutely fine. Overall we loved our stay, and we will be returning again in the future.

  • The most wonderful of cottages set amongst the most beautiful scenery imaginable! The hosts were welcoming and helpful when we arrived, they left loads of great information and advice about the local area and then left us to our own devices. The cottage is perfectly placed for days out, we took our bikes and rode Coed-Y-Brenin, which is just up the road and also walked up Cadair Idris, which too is very close. We wish we had stayed longer and would happily return again with our two young children.

  • The Bothy is a great cosy self-contained space near to the main farmhouse and in a perfect location for Dolgellau and Cadair Idris. Parking is easy. The space may be on the small side but it adds to the coziness and is more than adequate for one. The Bothy is well presented and very clean. There is a good kitchen space and Dawn is very thoughtful in providing a supply of tea, coffee and milk and also some breakfast items. I did do a small shop for the morning before arriving but this wasn’t really needed. The shower is perfect and was a delight after a difficult and extremely wet day on Cadair Idris.

The kitchen is well equipped with everything you should need plus a full sized fridge and induction hob, kettle, toaster and basics such salt/pepper/cooking oil. Tea/coffee/sugar and milk The double bed has plenty of storage room underneath to keep bags etc. out of the way. Bed linen and towels are provided The en suite shower room is equipped with shower, toilet and sink, together with a heated towel rail. When the weather starts getting chilly and the nights draw in there is an electric radiator for instant heat. Our land follows the estuary and has plenty of paths to explore and many outstanding views to discover. It is a perfect location for wildlife lovers, bird watchers, photographs of just escaping from it all!! Barmouth town is only 5 minutes drive away with its beautiful beaches!
This area is of outstanding beauty with an abundance of walks, mountains to climb, Mawddach Trail to cycle, boating and fishing, Paddle Boarding... or just relaxing enjoying the peace and get away from it all.
  • Our stay at Anna’s shepherds hut was great. The bed was so comfy, heaters provided and radiator kept the hut really nice and warm. Great views over the estuary and we took the walk through the woods, provided in the little notes left, down to Barmouth town (took approx 60mins) and ate at the Lost Inn - very lovely decor and great food. Welsh cakes and biscuits, milk and butter provided were a lovely touch :)

  • Anna’s place was perfect. Her communication was great throughout and though we were running a bit late she was there waiting for us outside to show us to our door! She had great knowledge and advice on the local area, and left thoughtful touches ready for us in the cabin. The cabin was very comfortable, warm and clean. All in all a great stay and hope to be back!

  • This was a lovely cosy shepherds hut, with beautiful views over the estuary. We didn't know a shepherds hut could be this stylish! Anna was a great host - she met us at the gate, showed us round end even left thoughtful extras like Welsh cakes and marshmallows to toast on the fire pit.

    Runa2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • I had an amazing stay at Anna's place, I needed a night away from the busy world and distractions so I took myself to the shepherd's hut and it was everything I needed. Scenery is beautiful even on a dull, cloudy day. Hut itself was exactly as described and exactly as it looks in the pictures, perfect small space! Loads of lovely little areas to walk around and explore. Wildlife and beauty in abundance. Anna was the perfect host, she met me at the gate and showed me to the hut, gave me a tour and answered any questions I had and even ones that I didn't even realise I had! 100% would go back

    Amber2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful location! The views over the estuary and out towards Cadair Idris are incredible. It stayed toasty warm inside even when the rain was lashing outside and we even managed to cook outside one night. Lovely thoughtful touches and a beautiful place to stay.

    Cat2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Anna was great from start to finish. She accommodated us at short notice and made us very welcome. There are many nice little touches to make guests feel special and comfortable.

    Deborah2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect for getting away from it all. You'll have everything you need in this little hut, very comfortable and cosy. Nice and clean.

  • Samantha fully deserves the title of superhost. Everywhere was spotless and the pictures don't do it justice. Thoroughly relaxing environment to be in and close enough to all the local shops and across the road from the beach. Cannot wait to come back!

  • This is the second time we have visited Sam’s lovely house. It’s so close to the beach and a short stroll into all the main Barmouth amenities. It was beautifully clean, and the hot tub was a delight, even in a cold and miserable stormy February. Sam is so quick to respond to any queries you may have, the house is fully equipped and we can’t recommend highly enough x

    Kathryn2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent stay very clean a much better place than we expected hot tub was fab, we would deffinatly stay again

    Steven2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place in a great location. The house is sparkling clean and very modern and spacious. The hotub is great. Sam was a great host and always offered her help if needed. Really enjoyed our stay.

    Jack2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We booked Sam’s place for our first family holiday with our baby daughter. From the moment of Booking Sam was so helpful, the communication was brilliant throughout. Any questions we had, Sam responded right away. The house was easy to find, check in was super easy. We had no problem at all parking outside the front of the property which was important to us. The house was clean and had everything we needed including enclosed garden for our dog. Sam even treated us to a bottle of wine on arrival. The bed was really comfy and having Netflix in the rooms was great especially with it being winter. Big bathroom with nice bath and shower. Towels provided. The house is in a great location and so close to the beach. It doesn’t even take long to walk to the harbour. Co op is a only few mins walk away and we were able to get an ASDA shop delivered the day we arrived. Our baby is not walking yet but if she was, the house is very child friendly with stair gates and safety measures such as oven locks. We had a lovely first break away, we highly recommend this property for couples or families, plenty of space, clean, comfy, great location, helpful and welcoming host. We would return for sure. Thanks again

Our beautifully crafted shepherd's hut is in an exceptional location in Snowdonia National Park. Set in 45 acres of wild woodland and meadows overlooking the Mawddach Estuary, you will be in one of the most beautiful locations in Wales. The scenic Mawddach Trail linking seaside Barmouth and historic Barmouth is a short walk down our track. The mountains are all around, with sandy beaches, castles, steam trains, zip lines and bike trails close by.
From March to the end of October, Jones the Shepherd’s Hut is off grid in a tranquil and sheltered silver birch glade along with our three yurts. For November and December the hut goes on the move nearer to the heated washing facilities and electric hook ups on our small touring camp site, where there are spectacular estuary views. The beautiful Mawddach Estuary is a short (but steepish) walk through Graig Wen’s woods and fields. We have built the high quality shepherd’s hut to sleep two in style or a family of three or four. The clever design means it feels roomier inside than you would imagine from the outside, with plenty of space for relaxing and storage. There’s a full size double bed with proper mattress plus a day bed for chilling out which converts to bunk beds for two children if required. With well insulated walls and a wood burning stove, you’ll be warm and snug whatever the weather. There is a dining table with seats for 4 and a kitchenette with sink and cold water tap, gas hob, fridge and all the cutlery and plates you need to whip up simple meals. We provide bedding for the double bed including a sheep wool “Baavet” duvet made on a Snowdonia farm. Guests should bring their own sleeping bags/bedding for the bunk beds. There are warm Welsh blankets to snuggle under on cooler nights. Guests should also bring their own towels. We can welcome one well behaved dog to the shepherd’s hut.
Our holiday accommodation in Snowdonia National Park is at the heart of adventure activities and historic attractions for families and thrill seekers. You can go horse-riding on sandy beaches, mountain biking at Coed-y Brenin, whitewater rafting, or zip lining across slate quarries. Take the kids crabbing and climb castle walls. Wander for hours in our quiet corner of Snowdonia with just mountains, sky and sheep for company or take a steam train up Snowdon and join the crowds at the summit. Wild swimming spots, RSPB reserves, gorge scrambling, wildlife safaris, geocaching – Snowdonia National Park and North / Mid Wales offer all sorts of memorable experiences within easy reach of Graig Wen. There’s a great range of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants within 10 minutes drive of Graig Wen. From salt marsh lamb to Cardigan Bay crab and Dolgellau’s delicious specialty honey buns, you’ll find plenty to tingle your tastebuds! Dolgellau has an excellent butchers, artisan bakery, wholefood store and greengrocers as well as a couple of small supermarkets. You can visit “Sausage Sue” at our local farm to pick up freerange eggs, bacon and sausages. Every Thursday there’s a small market in Dolgellau selling locally made jams and baked goods, and there’s a large street market every Wednesday in Machynlleth (a stunning half hour drive through the mountain pass) which is good for fresh veg too. You can order fresh fish from the seaside town of Aberdyfi. You’ll find a warm welcome in our independent stores where you’ll hear the Welsh language being spoken – try saying Diolch / thanks! Those who fancy a craft beer or lager from one of our local breweries can buy them here on site. There’s a beach bar in Fairbourne or work up a thirst walking along the Mawddach Trail for a pint in the George III pub. Dylan’s new wine bar and shop in Dolgellau has an excellent range of unusual, good value wines by the glass. Or if you’re looking for a boozer with a great atmosphere to watch the rugby then we’ll point you in the right direction! You can do flat walks, scenic hikes or mountain scrambles from our door step. Whether your idea of a walk is a stroll along the sand or a day out in the hills, we can advise on wonderfully scenic walks for all abilities and all weathers. The same goes for cycling – you can get straight onto the flat Mawddach cycle trail from our fields (although it’s a steep push back up!) and we’ve got some of the most famous single track mountain bike trails in the world 15 minutes drive away at Coed y Brenin. There’s some fabulous road cycling to be done on quiet lanes in the hills surrounding the estuary – with some epic climbs and descents if you want them! John and Sarah are keen walkers and cyclists and we’re really happy to share some of our favourite routes with you. OS maps of the area are available for sale from reception.

  • What a fab place!! This little gem is just perfect for a getaway! beautifully presented, funky space with everything you need for a visit. We stayed for a weekend but would have happily stayed for longer. The cabin is warm, cosy and inviting. Comfy beds, lovely and clean and the little extras such as welsh cakes and lovely toiletries really added to our trip. Great communication from Hannah and no issues with our trip at all. Loved it Thanks!

  • This was our second stay this year, as we loved our first weekend there so much we couldn’t wait to get back! Ty Coed has stylish decor and welcoming comfort aplenty. It has all the facilities you need to relax like a beautiful bathroom with plenty of hot water for the shower and bath, and a cosy, quiet bedroom. Or if you prefer getting out an exploring, it’s a short hop from Coed-y-Brennan forest park with walking, running and mountain biking trails, as well as many other stunning outdoor spots. If you like cooking, the kitchen is wonderfully well equipped and the EuroSpar in Dolgellau has a remarkable array of tasty and exotic ingredients from which to choose. Or there’s always the pub just across the road with views over the river. We’ll certainly be coming back for another stay!

  • Very comfortable and cozy accommodation in a great location. There is so much to explore around the estuary. Loads of beautiful ancient woodland walks by streams and waterfalls. We normally head for the hills but, apart from one day climbing Cadair Idris (obviously), we spent most of the time wandering around the valleys. We parked the car on Saturday and didn't move it again until the following Saturday - there was so much to do from the door! The cabin was the perfect place to come back to at the end of a long day, especially with the pub so close by.

    Steve2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great house in a great location. Stylish and spotlessly clean. Everything we needed for a fab week. Thank you!

    Chris2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin with a cosy and stylish space. Wonderfully clean and fresh, thoughtful local tips and a really easy check in. Tom & Hannah were quick to reply and help us out with all our questions. Location is a short walk to the pub which has some great grub. About a 45 minute drive to Snowdonia which was perfect for us. We would definitely recommend.

    Zahava2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay. Really well equipped and stylish space. Lovely little touches along with the essentials of a powerful shower, comfortable beds and fast wifi. Excellent location for biking and walking. Local pub 2 mins away and highly recommend. Perfect location and beautiful scenery. Well definitely be back.

  • If you’re looking for a peaceful, cozy and beautifully stylish getaway, you’ve found it. The lodge looks wonderful and has all the amenities you need for a relaxing break or an action-packed getaway; hot bath, great shower, comfy beds, cozy sofa area with TV and a kitchen with everything you need. The decking area outside is perfect for sitting and watching the weather over the mountains, and there’s even a barbecue (though we didn’t get a chance to try it this time). There are thoughtful touches everywhere, from the Welshcakes waiting on the kitchen table to the Faith in Nature shower gel and shampoo in the bathroom. The house itself is warm and quiet, with excellent WiFi if you need it. The George III pub on the waterfront is barely 2 minutes walk away and has nice food and drinks, and a lovely view.

This is glamping at its best. Wrought iron bed with Morocan style bedding, unlimited free wood for fire pit and BBQ. A welcome basket on arrival with those all essential marsh mellows, yummy. There is a BBQ and double gas burner plus grill on site for cooking. If you prefer to dine out I can recommend good eating places. Although there are sensor lights outside, lighting the path to the toilet, we do supply torches, and blankets to keep you cosy. This is luxury camping and then some!!
We are not a camping site. You have your very own facilities with all the privacy you need if you want it. The views are amazing and the Lotus Belle Tent is pure luxury. They are no ordinary Bell Tents, they are extra special and a joy to sleep in. The neighbourhood is quiet except for the sounds of owls and the occasional sheep in the fields below.
  • Had an amazing stay here. Beautiful views, surrounded by mountains and and the sea. We stayed in the yurt which is lovely and warm even in windy and rainy weather. All the facilities are top notch. A chill in the hot tub is a must! While there both me and my partner had an amazing Indian head massage from Carol, that really relaxed us. There are other treatments available also but I highly recommend the head massage! Carol is an attentive host but not intrusive, she recommended places to eat and even dropped us off in town and offered to pick us up which was so nice. Had a fab time here and will be coming again!

    Wendy2019-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • The location is out of this world, star gazing in the hot tub on a clear night was priceless, as was the pink sunrise. Friendly, rescued animals everywhere, Carol and Ned are wonderful, completely accommodating but leave you alone once they’re totally happy that you have and know everything you need. Carol is VERY good at massage too, I highly recommend the lava shells, what a blissful treat, we will be back!

    Nicola2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place Carol and Ned have! And to share it with other people just shows what a lovely couple they are. Amazing hospitality from the start! From booking it to leaving...Carol offered helpful tips, suggested places to visit and was always at the end of the phone if you needed anything at all. Approachable and friendly and made you feel at home. Complementary tea coffee milk welsh cakes and marshmallows were given to us as well as all kitchen and bathroom essentials. The setting was perfect, seaside and countryside views all around and lovely company from the extra friendly animals. Such a unique spot with cute and romantic touches. There is a fire pit to sit at and watch the sunset, as well as outdoor table to eat at. The amazing hot tub was a few steps from the belle tent and space to get changed in. We also had rain on our first night however carol and ned were quick to put up the canopy so we could still enjoy the tub. The outdoor kitchen is covered and has all essentials so you can cook a meal. The bathroom surprisingly has a hot and powerful shower with room to get changed in. Everything was spotless considering it’s an outdoor setting there was not one thing to complain about! The tent was so peaceful and romantic with quirky little touches. Plenty of space, a small fridge and 2 heaters provided for the colder nights however the tent held heat without having to use them too much. Carol and Ned definitely deserve to be recognised as extra special hosts, we could not fault them at all! Literally do everything for you no question or favour is too big or small to them! Amazing people thank you so much. Defiantly worth the 5 hour drive from Middlesbrough x x x

    Megan2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Carol is an amazing host! Lovely person, very friendly, hospitable, and knowledgable about the local area... and all round wonderful! The accommodation itself is romantic, different (in a lovely way), and gave us the experience we wanted

    Natalie2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Carol and Ned were excellent hosts, always on hand if we needed anything or had questions. They both greeted us along with their adorable dogs and welcomed us in. Carol took the time to show us where everything was and how it all worked, she had provided tea and coffee provisions and facilities inside the tent, which was much appreciated. We were also given some marshmallows for roasting on the fire pit, which we'd never done before and loved. The tent is very spacious and comfortable. The bed in particular was very cosy and most mornings we didnt want to get out of it! Unfortunately due to the weather, we were only able to use the hotub once, but it was wonderful to be able to watch the sunset over the sea from the tub, then watch as buzzards flew overhead on their way home for the night. This Airbnb is great for animal lovers. There are many varieties of birds in the area, not to mention all of Carol and Neds animals - horses, chickens, dogs, cats, sheep and highland cows. All the animals are very friendly and the dogs loved a fuss! Carol and Ned were kind enough to let us charge our EV via a mains plug "granny cable" before we drove home, which was a real life saver as there aren't many places charge in the area. Carol was also very thoughtful and brought our towels in to dry when we'd left them out on a rainy day. We would highly recommend the lotus bell tent for couples looking into get away from it all and get back to nature. The facilities mean that you can do this in comfort, warmth and a little luxury. We hope to be back to see Ned and Carol in the not too distant future and will be recommending their Airbnb to family and friends.

    Laura2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is the most beautiful place, the bell tent is absolutely perfect, the bathroom was an unexpected treat, really good shower and sparkling clean. Everything needed is supplied (Bring you own towels) so many thoughtful little touches that made it extra special. Tea coffee milk and marshmallows! The stars you can see up there at night are out of this world! (no pun intended) as its up a rather steep hill on the coast its got a little windy, but the tent is so sturdy it made it extra cosy. The hot tub is phenomenal too. Book it! You won't regret it.

    Natasha2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful place, had an amazing stay. Amazing hospitality Perfect weekend

    Demi2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely stay to unwind with nature. Had a great time using the hot tub and playing with the animals at the campsite. Carol provided logs and fire starters to get a fire going which kept us warm as we watched the stars at night. Great place for couples to unwind.

This characterful stone cottage is in the heart of historic Dolgellau, close to the town centre places to eat, drink and shop. The Victorian cottage has been stylishly refurbished with a sparkling new bathroom and kitchen. Located in a peaceful and unspoilt area of Snowdonia National Park, it’s a convenient, comfortable base for couples, friends or a small family. The spectacular mountain landscape surrounds Dolgellau and the beaches of Fairbourne and Barmouth are a short drive away.
Located just off the main town square in a quiet courtyard, the little stone cottage has a fantastic central location in the historic and handsome market town of Dolgellau. You are just a few steps away from cafes, excellent restaurants and welcoming pubs. There are also many walks into the mountains from your door. The Victorian cottage is cosy, compact and stylishly decorated with colourful vintage touches and a new, sparkling kitchen and bathroom. Walk in through a small room with a dining table and chairs. Make yourself at home in a comfortable arm chair and plan your days out with the local maps provided. There is central heating for instant warmth in every room. To the right is a snug lounge with a sofa and easy chair. If you’re not popping into town to eat out, the large digital TV means you can relax after a day out exploring and log into your Netflix or the i-Player. There’s good WiFi too if you need to stay connected. The cottage is owned by Peter, a retired art and craft teacher, and you will see some of the vintage 70s ceramics he made on the colourful Welsh dresser and around the house. The big Victorian bay window looks over the street to the pretty stone cottages opposite. The modern kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, fridge, full sized oven with electric hob, washing machine and tumble dryer. There’s also a microwave, a cafetière and food mixer. Whether you’re preparing a lazy breakfast, picnic lunch or special meal you’ll find all the cooking utensils you need here. The new bathroom is on the ground floor with a bath and overhead rain shower. A steep and narrow flight of stairs leads to two bedrooms. There are 11 steps and the stairs have a bit of a twist at the bottom. The double bedroom has a bay window looking across the slate rooftops of Dolgellau to the surrounding hills. The double bed has a deep mattress and crisp cotton bed linen. There are upcycled bedside tables and lights on each side of the bed. The second bedroom has one single bed and plenty of storage space. The large window looks across to the Listed stone buildings opposite and fills the room with plenty of light. Guests with children should note that there is a door but no stair gate between the bedrooms and the steep stairs. People with mobility issues may find these stairs between the bedrooms and bathroom challenging. For this reason we do not recommend the cottage for families with very young children or those who find stairs a challenge. Although there is a narrow parking space by the cottage, it is only suitable for one small vehicle. You may find it easier to drop your luggage at the cottage and then park further up the road where there are usually spaces for free on street parking. There’s a stone seat outside the front door to enjoy watching the world go by, but no outdoor space, which is why we regret this cottage is not dog friendly.
Dolgellau is a traditional historic Welsh town and you will find many welcoming independent shops, places to eat and pubs just a couple of minutes walk from the cottage. One of our favourites is TH Roberts, an atmospheric cafe in a former iron mongers which serves the most amazing variety of his me made cakes ever. We also like Dylan’s wine bar and cafe and The Torrent Walk pub is the place to head for pint with the locals or your Sunday roast. The Meirionydd Restaurant serves an excellent Welsh menu and there are plenty of other choice for dining out. Cader Idris mountain range rises behind Dolgellau and you can can take footpaths out of town into the hills. One of highest peak in south Snowdonia, Cader Idris is a beautiful mountain, with both family friendly and more challenging routes to the summit. Dolgellau is an amazing base for walking, whether you are a keen hillwalker or would just like an easy amble in the stunning scenery. The Precipice Walk and The Mawddach Trail are two of the best known local walks, and you will find plenty of information about routes in the cottage. Dolgellau is also fantastic for cycling. You can hire bikes from £20 a day in town to cycle the flat Mawddach Trail to seaside Barmouth and back. You can also hire mountain bikes to explore the famous trails at Coed y Brenin which is just 15 minutes drive. Coed y Brenin forest also has wonderful walks to mighty waterfalls and is becoming known as one of the best trail running centres in the U.K. For runners, Dolgellau also has a friendly and scenic Park Run on Saturdays. Your neared beach is at Fairbourne which is much quieter than its better known neighbour at Barmouth - also much easier to get to during peak season! Fairbourne beach is less than 15 minutes drive from Dolgellau. Every third Sunday of the month (March to December), Dolgellau hosts a Farmer’s Market with good quality local food producers and craft makers. Other local attractions include Portmerion, Harlech Castle, steam trains at Ffestiniog and Talyllyn railways, the zip wires and underground adventures of ZipWorld. Snowdon is a scenic 45 minute drive through Snowdonia National Park.
  • Absolutely lovely weekend at this sweet cottage. Beautifully decorated and cosy, and well prepared for our arrival with milk in the fridge and heating on. John was very helpful and communicative, and flexible with our schedule. Looking forward to coming again soon!

  • A great well equiped, cosy and comfortable place to stay. The cottage is clean and warm and has everything you need for a great stay. A great welcome book to help if you need any ideas for walks and places to eat. The cottage is right in the centre of dolgellau and a great location for a break in North Wales. We'll definitely be back.

  • Exactly what we were looking for, a cosy and homey cottage in a quiet area but close enough to amenities. Very relaxing stat, we had everything we needed and more. John made everything extremely easy and was a great host.

Lovely traditional stone cottage, built originally as a chapel in 1806 in the village of Arthog in the Snowdonia National Park with beautiful mountain views. 5 minutes from the railway at Morfa Mawddach-4 mins to Barmouth, or a fab walk. Just a few metres from the stunning Mawddach Trail, it is the ideal location for a wide range of outdoor activities such as hill walking, mountain biking, pony trekking and just a short distance from Fairbourne beach with its famous steam railway. Pets welcome.
The cottage is a converted chapel with original oak beams in the bedrooms. The modernised, fully equipped kitchen has a dishwasher, washing machine/dryer, microwave, ceramic hob/oven and fridge/freezer. Free WiFi access and TV/DVD in the Lounge with Freeview channels. CD/Radio, board games, books, DVD and CDs.
Fairbourne Stores is approximately 1.5 miles away for food and drink and also there is a chip shop and indian restaurant. Barmouth is just across the Estuary over the historic railway bridge (walking and cycling only).
  • Would definitely recommend a stay here Lovely accommodation Wonderful host The walk into Barmouth along the trail is great

    Jacqueline2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cottage with its own parking space. Mark was there to meet and greet and give us some tips on the local area. Very welcoming, nothing too much hassle. Great location, a nice walk to Barmouth across the bridge. The cottage has a good sized modern kitchen, plenty of DVD’s and books to keep you amused if the weather isn’t great. It’s mainly storage heaters downstairs, so as long as you follow Mark’s instructions you will be warm enough, if not there are loads of blankets dotted around which is a nice touch. The front double bedroom has a lovely view across the estuary and although you’re next to a road you don’t see the cars. The bed is comfy and the room is spacious. The back bedroom is cozy, with two singles, but has a small window so if you are claustrophobic dont stay in this room. Our two dogs loved it as well, they had a little welcome box with some treats, pop bags and a bowl in. And we had some lovely welshcakes waiting for us as well as milk/tea/coffee/cereal. Really like our stay and would stay again.

    Megan2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy was so welcoming and helpful. Cottage was cosy and had everything we needed for an amazing trip. Location is ideal for a remote relaxing trip, but with easy access to Barmouth etc. if you want a bit more hustle and bustle.

    Lauren2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy cottage in a great location, close to Barmouth and perfect for walking near the estuary. Wendy made us very welcome and everything is there to make your stay a pleasant one.

    Clare2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wendy & Mark's cottage is beautifully located with a little stream in the back that you hear gurgling as you arrive, just a short drive from the beach, surrounded by beautiful nature ideal for walks (a bog just opposite with wild ponies, lakes nearby, ...). The cottage is beautiful with a practical and large kitchen (great for people like us who don't eat from outside), a cosy fireplace, spacious bedrooms with heated blankets for cold nights (we used them!). Lots of local tips provided, and the cottage also provides plenty for rainy days (boardgames, puzzles, music, films, books). Wendy and Mark are great hosts, very environmentally conscious which we considered a great plus, and they were kind enough to post out headphones my husband had accidentally left behind. We definitely hope to be back!

  • Wendy and Mark were great hosts. There cottage was in a great location for exploring the area with lots of things in walking or cycling distance. We were there during a storm but the cottage was a welcome haven, warm and cosy and sheltered from the winds. The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable. We enjoyed cooking in the modern well equiped kitchen. Wendy and Mark left lots of information for us but were on hand for any questions we had. Thank you. We will be back again.

    Sarah2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely cosy cottage in a very handy location. Wendy and Mark were wonderful hosts full of useful advice and very welcoming towards all of us including our two big dogs. Thoroughly recommended for dog owners due to the dog friendly nature of the owners and the magnificent walks from the door step

  • Second time staying here and was once again perfectly clean and a cozy place to stay.

  • A lovely little cottage, very homey! Chris is a GREAT host and very quick at replying to any queries! A lovely bottle of prosecco on arrival which is always nice! A great location in Barmouth, close to the beach, pubs, shops and car parking. Would book again and recommend to others - thank you Chris 😊

    Alexandra2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A really lovely cottage which felt safe, warm and welcoming. A perfect size for just the two of us and actually was bigger than we expected to be. Loved the decor and the amenities provided including Prosecco for our arrival. Instructions were sent when we were booked which were really useful and helped us to find the cottage straight away in the dark and rain! Really enjoyed our stay and our time in the local area. Although Barmouth is quiet at this time Of year, we explored and found local places to eat and things to do and the cottage is in the heart of it all. Would definitely recommend.

    Rebecca2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal for a 2/3 day break, very handy location for all Barmouth has to offer. Great space for a couple ( we also had a small dog ). Chris made booking easy and nice hospitality touches such as prosecco and tea/coffee on arrival. Check in/out very easy. Apartment well set up and very comfy.

    David2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal place for a couple. Location brilliant, very close to town but far enough back and private enough to be protected from noise and footfall. Very quaint, nicely decorated and very clean. Nice touches from hosts, Prosecco and parking permit for long stay car park. Had problems with heating the first night, fixed by owners the next day. As mentioned in previous reviews bed was very small and there is a frosted partition between bedroom and bathroom which meant the bathroom light, when on, tended to light up bedroom. DVD player available. On the whole loved the property and would certainly would check first if this was free on our next trip to Barmouth. Barmouth - The Bank (restaurant) seems to have good reviews but we have never managed to get in there. Would prebook next time. Had great pub meals in both The Last Inn and Tan y Don. Laverbread Rarebit exceptional in the Belle Vue cafe.

    Sharon2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cottage in fact just perfect for what we needed.... Very fast response from Chris made some happy memories in the cottage and in Barmouth itself... Lovely locals who welcomed and showed our doggies so much love.....especially seeing Hollie (boo boo) is so poorly, we would return to the cottage and Barmouth again for sure. Thank you so much Chris

    Paula2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • I and my partner had a wonderful stay, regardless of my criticising (this is me being very picky), we really did have a wonderful time. Firstly the property is cosy, it is imperative you get on well with your partner, I can see it testing some relationships, for instance, the bathroom is separated from the bedroom by frosted glass- while sufficient this does not leave much to the imagination (my partner suggested curtains would be a welcome addition, however, I disagree and feel it would affect the appeal of the bedroom). The space is beautiful throughout, furnished comfortably and in many cases making creative use of the limited space! Another suggestion we had was perhaps adding a dining table or utilising the kitchen worktop and turning it into a breakfast bar.

    Sam2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • We booked for a 3 night stay at the cottage which was wonderful, really wanted to stay longer tbh. It ticked every box for us, and getting welcomed on arrival with a bottle of bubbly was a very nice touch, we would highly recommend it, thanks Chris

For the more energetic a nice brisk walk over the mountains to the beautiful picturesque sea side town of Barmouth to one of the many quant coffee shops
  • The stand out feature of this place is the amazing view. The wood burning heated hot tub overlooking the view is a wonderful experience. Philip is an excellent host and nothing we asked for was too much trouble for him. We enjoyed using the free bikes to cycle over the Barmouth bridge and along the disused railway line to a lovely pub. It should be remembered that it is a camping experience and we were glad that having read some of the previous reviews we took sleeping bags and other camping gear such as a wok and cooking utensils. The bed is hard so we used inflatable camping mats on top. The tent was warm and cosy inside because it had an electric radiator. The weather was wet and windy but we managed a BBQ in pouring rain and warmed up in the hot tub after. If you love the outdoors you will love this place.

    Janice2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing beautiful views, tranquil, peaceful and good amenities with fire pit, cooking stone and hot tub which unfortunately (due to passing through) I did not have the time to utilise!

    Matthew2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • The views and the hot tub are amazing! Nice touches with the torches around the hot tub, could have stayed longer! I would recommend bringing an extra blanket.

  • Great location very friendly and helpful highly recommend

    Magda2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our new favourite place! The views are absolutely stunning and the hosts are so so friendly and welcoming. The tent is extremely well equipped - however we took an extra duvet, pillows and our own mugs etc (as you would if you were 'proper' camping) just to be prepared :) The hot tub is fantastic (and very hot!) after a days hiking to wind down and relax. Our dog came with us and he had the best time ever especially on the beach - we never saw another person down there so he could run wild! 100% recommend.

    Laura2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place to stay! The pictures don’t do it justice. The hot tub was already on and hot for us when we arrived (Little tip - swirl the water around before you get in as it gets extremely hot by the pipe) you have everything you need there. Like other reviews, we took a quilt to pop under us as the bed is a little hard but nothing to complain about at all. Wish we stayed longer. Location is fantastic and also great if you take a dog like we did, lots of places like the arcades cafes etc let you take dogs in too. This is one of the best places I’ve stayed in a long time and highly recommend this to anybody! Thank you Phillip!

    Rachel2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay! The location is beautiful and the accommodation was perfect for our stay! The hot tub was an extremely welcome relief after a very wet and windy Snowdon climb! The Nespresso machine in the tent was an unexpected pleasure and the hosts were incredibly welcoming and helpful - offering extra duvets, firewood and anything else we may have needed. The walk into town was 20 minutes and very scenic, and we went to The Last Inn for dinner following a recommendation from the host - which was brilliant. We wholeheartedly recommend a stay here - waking up and seeing views like that is a rarity (as is sitting in a hot tub under the stars with mountains and sea as your backdrop...)!

Originally, Barmouth was a tiny hamlet built almost entirely on the rock over-looking the river mouth and frequented by pirates. The sea receded, access improved and a small fishing and ship building industry grew. In the 19th. Century the railway came and Barmouth and almost immediately it embraced tourism and expanded. Surrounded by The Snowdonia National Park, Barmouth is ideally situated for whatever type of holiday you are looking for. Whatever you are into: fishing, surfing, kite boarding, sailing, mountain biking, bird watching, painting, landscape photography or horse riding, there are endless scenic places to explore. Barmouth has two public astro turf tennis courts, a basket ball pitch and skateboard ramp. Situated on the edge of the Snowdonia national, Barmouth was awarded the Green Coastline award for its clean beach environment and water. There is a great selection of shops eateries and pubs. The mountains for roaming are very close, plus numerous lakes and rivers close by. If you prefer a guided walk the annual walking festival at Barmouth held in September is popular every year. Barmouth has a sunny west-facing sandy beach. Don't miss the spectacular sunsets over the bay. From early Spring through till Autumn, dolphins and porpoise can be spotted close to the shore, an amazing sight to see! It’s not unusual to see them on a daily basis in pods of up to 20. There is level access to the town where there are supermarkets, shops, bistros. You will find the most glorious ten mile expanse of sandy beaches from Harlech to Barmouth. Remember to bring your bikes, the cycle routes are fantastic and Coed-y-Brenin has some very interesting daredevil paths to concur. Visit quaint villages such as Llanbedr, the gateway to Shell Island and Llandanwg with its Celtic church in the sand dunes. Just a few miles North is the historic town of Harlech with its magnificent castle and golf course. Don't miss a trip to Llanfair slate mines where "The Last Knight" was filmed, learn how hard the colliers of Yesteryear worked. Portmeirion village, just 30 mins drive is gorgeous, (the Italian style village where The Prisoner was filmed). Barmouth certainly has a lot to offer, with an attractive and lively Harbour area; spectacular scenery especially The Mawddach one of the most beautiful estuaries in the world; birthplace of The National Trust and a walkers paradise. The Barmouth Bridge, built by Brunel. You must walk over it and enjoy the views. The bridge doubles as a footpath & cycle route giving spectacular views up the estuary towards Cader Idris. Queen Victoria once stopped her train to admire the view! One the way back stop to eat at The Last Inn, Bistro Burma or Davey Jones Locker are particularly good. The town hosts 4 festivals. In July there is Country & Western and a Kite Flying Festival. 1st. week in September there's an Art Festival and for 9 days around the 3rd. week there is a very popular Walking Festival catering for all abilities. The local Dragon Theatre holds events throughout the year but the most popular is a Jazz/Soul/Folk evening held every 4th. Friday in a cabaret setting.

  • Lovely cottage in a great location in part of Snowdonia national part. Stayed for one week and could not have asked for a better place to stay, everywhere was clean and cosy. Log burner great for the cold and snowy days. Beds very comfy and great views for all areas. Would recommend.

  • We had a fantastic time at this lovely hideaway in the woods. Enjoyed the complete peace and quiet, fabulous walks and roaring fire... not forgetting the hot-tub! Would highly recommend as a cosy space to relax and get away from it all.

  • Total retreat - clean, cosy and comfy...nestled in the woods with the sound of rushing water all around. Lovely space with every need catered for. Considerate welcome pack with wine/nibbles/cake and coffee; a very nice touch. Hot tub perfect after a long day stomping in the wilderness. Flexible host responsive to requests. Temporary lack of WiFi a slight downer, but muddled through with decent 4G. Altogether a great stay and highly recommended.

  • Warm cosy but modern, hot tub and log fire and beautiful dark skies. We had a secluded part of our honeymoon here. No Internet when we went but we'd gone prepared and they are working on it. Can't wait to come back, found our happy place!

  • A great place to stay if you want to be off grid :), you can get connected but why bother :)

  • Loved our weekend in Wales staying in the cottage and it is a truly magical rural experience totally off the grid for a few day’s. The house and setting is beautiful and a wonderful place to relax. Hot tub is a nice and there is everything you need to cook great meals for a family. Only feedback was signal not great and the WiFi didn’t work but no one in our group mind. Also the road leading up to it can be a bit scary especially if you arrive in the dark but that added to the experience. We are already planning a trip back for next year.
