The most beautiful and homely cottage in Urubamba

HelenRating, 5 stars42 months ago
This is a wonderful base for exploring the Sacred Valley. We stayed for a week here and loved it. A beautifully decorated home full of textiles and antiques, the house is set in a wooded garden of eucalyptus trees shared with a few other houses. Our kids loved running around and playing in the trees. Urubamba has a great bakery (ask Lucia for tips). The Incan ruins and local sites are a short drive away. We did a wonderful walk to the Perolniyoc waterfalls and ruins. Highly recommended!

Stone house in Ollantaytambo

ScottRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Gonzalo's place is a beautiful sanctuary stone cottage. The house is situated among the quiet and car-free residential streets of Ollantaytambo. There are two levels that require exit outdoors to move between floors. All needed amenities (soap, toilet paper, towels, laundry and dish detergent, coffee, a few treats) were kindly provided. The inner yard is the superstar. During the day, you get a 360 panoramic view of the valley. At night, a gorgeous night sky. Gonzalo kindly let us lead our luggage through the afternoon of our departure day because there were not guests arriving that day. The cottage is slightly dusty with a few cobwebs, and I would suggest walking around in shoes-- but all this is expected of a stone house among such beautiful natural surroundings.

Manu Hot Springs (room with private bathroom)

This apartment has fully satisfied us! You are in the middle of the jungle, in your bamboo hut and the shower is almost outdoors, there are mosquito nets but you are practically in communication with the outside, if this is for you it will be beautiful. There is an area for cooking, in the evening it attracts a few cockroaches being outdoors but it is very functional, attached an area with tables, hammock and armchairs, all outdoors but sheltered from the rain. A few steps away you can find a warm, magnificent natural pool, and a little further away there are waterfalls. Johan can accompany you on excursions around the reserve, I recommend doing at least one! We relaxed and were in touch with the true reality of the Manu, thanks Johan :)

A beautiful place. I will definitely return. The beds are comfortable and warm, the bathroom is clean as well as the kitchen. Everything was perfect, just one small detail, the rooster of one of the neighbors starts crowing very early Even so, the place is perfect…!!

My second time staying with Maca and Diego. They’re truly wonderful people! They have a beautiful property, and I would recommend it to anyone who’s interested in staying in Ollantaytambo.

Unfortunately, Macarena was traveling during my visit so we didn't get a chance to meet in person, but communication was great throughout and she provided lots of v good recommendations for what to see, do and eat. I really enjoyed the space, slightly removed (10 min walk) from downtown Ollantay, v peaceful, right on the trail for Pumamarca. There's a kitchen with everything you need if you want to cook. Ollantay is a hiker's paradise so if you want a great value spot where you can walk to your heart's content day in and day out, I'd venture this is as good as you'll find. Enjoy.
