The tour guide, Pak Joko, was a really nice man, though he didn't seem very confident speaking English. His accent might be a bit difficult to understand if you're not used to it. I speak a little Indonesian, so it wasn't a problem for me since I was the only person on the tour and we sometimes chatted in Indonesian, but I can see how this might be frustrating for other tourists. Unfortunately, it was raining heavily, so we didn't get to walk around the Kota Gede neighborhood as much as I would have liked. We did stop by a lovely family-run silver shop where they custom-made a beautiful necklace pendant with my friend’s name in Javanese, and they finished it the very next day. After that, we visited Pak Joko's home, where I met his wife and mother-in-law and enjoyed some delicious local snacks and a traditional herbal drink.
