The wildfires that began on January 7, 2025 in Los Angeles displaced more than 200,000 people and took 29 lives. The fires destroyed over 12,000 structures and laid waste to entire neighborhoods.

Our impact

Immediately after the wildfires began, Airbnb.org partnered with nonprofit 211 LA to offer free, emergency housing to people impacted. 
We housed our first guest within 24 hours and 
have provided emergency housing for more 
than 20,000 people.

People wanted to stay close to home and booked Airbnbs near their primary residence, allowing them to keep children in schools, remain close to jobs, and stay engaged with their local community.
