4.94 out of 5 average rating, 161 reviewsCavehouse in Traditional Village
The beautiful 1817 Cavehouse was the perfect place to stay in Santorini. It's in a small town called Vothonas near the centre of the island, which is very quiet with picturesque alleyways and churches. There's a great supermarket about a 10 minute walk from the house, and good ATV rental places in town too. The house is lovely - it has a homely feel with little luxury touches to make you feel like you're staying somewhere special. The kitchen has everything you need to cook basic meals. We would recommend asking the hosts to arrange a taxi from the Port or Airport, and then renting your own transport in town when you arrive as it's cheaper. The hosts live next door and are so friendly, telling us they will help with anything we need. We would absolutely recommend booking this place and would happily stay here again next time we visit! Thanks for a wonderful stay! ❤️
Home in Fira
4.87 out of 5 average rating, 301 reviewsCalderimi, a cosy, warm and renovated house in Fira
We stayed 5 nights in Aris"s place in Fira and it was perfect for all our requirements. It is close to the old town for shopping, Restaurants and the sunset views. It is also very close to the main bus station with regular buses to the port, airport and beaches. The house is traditional which makes it cool inside but with modern touches, definitely the best shower of our trip! The kitchen is well equipped for cooking. Beach towels were also a great extra touch and much appreciated. There was always someone available if you needed anything. It was also private with a lovely garden to relax in the evenings without noise from the town. We would definitely recommend booking and we were pleasantly surprised by Santorini also.

I can’t say enough about Nikos. He is by far the best host we ever had. From day one he was full of info about where to go, what to do and of course the nice restaurants. The place is very nice and clean. The pool is definitely a plus but the weather was a bit cold for swimming. Lastly the airport is a 10-minute ride away. Nikos please is a must if you are visiting Santorini. Thanks for everything and the going away present🙏

Had the best stay here. Irini was so welcoming, sweet, and communicative, and even left a beautiful plate of local food and wine upon arrival. She offered local recommendations that were on point and affordable, and accurate info on the best ways to get around town in the car. Everything is walkable, even Ia/Oia (5 miles) if you like to walk and the hike to Skaros and Oia is easily accessible. Will definitely be back next year. Thank you so so much!
Home in Oia
4.97 out of 5 average rating, 159 reviewsArismari Villa, Oia
The place is beautiful, we were here for 2 nights. Close proximity to Oia and Ammoudi Bay definitely helped. We could see the sunset right from home and the community pool at Oia Sunset villas was available for use for this apartment. The check in process was communicated well and Avgi did help us with a late checkout as our flight was a bit later in the day. Extremely happy with the place and will surely recommend.

4.79 out of 5 average rating, 135 reviewsThe Small Architect's House with Hot Tub
This little gem was amazing! Set up as two separate apartments on 2 floors, the privacy and space was great for 2 single travelers. The hot tub was a perfect way to relax after being on our feet all day. The location couldn't be better - The town of Pyrgos is not bustling with non-stop tourists. We were able to take photos with no one in them, and really enjoy the views. We took the bus up to Ois for a day trip and were shocked with how many people were there (many from the cruise lines that let off hoards of folks.) Although it was a great place to visit, we were so happy to get back to our quieter town which has amazing views, good restaurants and is centrally located to visit beaches and other sites. This was a perfect choice for us!

Perfect hosts, a peaceful home on a small street two minutes from Black Sands Beach and clear water. The pretty terrace to rest back from a day of visiting the island is undoubtedly a big plus. You'll find restaurants on beach street. However, I recommend a car. No worries, the house has a large parking lot that can easily contain two cars if needed. Kostas had recommended a renter to us that we did not take and with great regret. It was more expensive but a lot of car side scap on the island. Kostas also arranged our return transfers to the port. Her parents came to greet us when we arrived at the house and were there when we left too. Lovely people. I would recommend this place with my eyes closed and wish you a stay one day you won't regret it! Several Airb&b to my credit and definitely one of the best.

Villa in Thira
4.98 out of 5 average rating, 123 reviewsCalderas Hug 1 (Panoramic Sea View& Prive Hot Tub)
We had a fantastic 3 night stay at Anastasia's apartment. As many others have noted, the pictures can't do justice to the view, it's hard to beat! Thr apt itself is as described with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The cleaners come each day to freshen up bedding and towels which is a lovely touch. A big benefit of the apartment is private, especially compared to many others. Imergovli is a stunning small town between Oia and Fira. We walked into Fira in evenings for dinner, but there were options closer too. it's about a 15 min walk. The walk to Oia took about 2 hours at a comfortable pace. We recommend for the views!! Overall a perfect trip!
Cycladic home in Megalochori
4.98 out of 5 average rating, 121 reviewsAmbeli Sunset Villa/private heated pool
This small quaint resort with a few little villas was absolutely beautiful! We liked that it was away from the main towns of Fira and Oia, so we recommend renting a car. The hosts went above and beyond helping with every detail and made the stay even that much more delightful! We went with a total of 4 adults (2 couples) so the only thing to be mindful of is to read the description of the pictures because they do mix in a few different villas. The villa we got had a much smaller bedroom than the other. Not a big deal for us but in case that is a critical concern for you to have comparable bedrooms/views. Highly recommend this place - stunning views!
Cycladic home in Thira
4.85 out of 5 average rating, 130 reviewsDome suite, hot tub,sea view in Firostefani!
We enjoyed our stay here, however, if you are over 5’6” (my height) you will struggle with the shower and bathroom. This is not a space for tall people, my husband is 6’4” and kept hitting his head. Anastasia was very responsive and helpful, overall we had a good time. We did have to pay 2 euros per night in cash, and that was slightly unexpected because we thought all fees were included in the air b&b price we paid in advance. Not a bad place to stay but just things to note if you are tall or on a strict budget.

Clean and tidy house . Amazing hot tub indoor and outside . The host was very helpful and friendly . Recommended loads of local places and restaurants to us . They made our stay easy.
Hotel room in Oia
4.89 out of 5 average rating, 235 reviewsTheodora Suites - Suite with Volcano View
The suite is in a perfect location and has the most stunning views! While this was a huge selling point to the listing, note that the suite is located right by a blue dome picture taking spot and there is almost always a long line outside your door. Tourists often stopped us, assuming we were cutting the line, as we tried to get to our room. That being said, I’d still highly recommend! It was clean, looked as advertised & the host even helped us schedule a ride from the ferry to Oia. You’re also located by a bunch of shops and restaurants & a small breakfast is included in your stay.

This was our first visit to Santorini and our Villa did not disappoint!! Nick was always just a call or text away and Alfred was amazing. Alfred carried all of our bags, checked in on us every day and made sure that we had everything that we needed. Now let’s talk about our views!!!! AMAZING! Thank you for everything! Until next time 🇬🇷

I cannot say enough good things about our stay. The cave house is so quaint and full of character. I would love to stay longer. Close to everything but not right in the middle of where it gets so busy. Perfect location. Everything was spotless and we had everything we needed. Irini was the perfect host. Helped set up transportation for us and even had our bags sent to Fira so we would not have to come back to get them after our hike. We were able to go straight to the ferry. Irini also recommended restaurants and was spot on! Food was amazing!!! Sunset from pool from the cave house was amazing. We did not have to go anywhere!
Villa in Imerovigli
5 out of 5 average rating, 26 reviewsLuxury Villa BLUE DOME, the 5* villa experience
My husband and I came to this beautiful location to celebrate our 16th anniversary. Alexandra left us a special welcome gift upon arrival. The house is immaculately clean and Bona provided the most delicious breakfast every morning. We felt right at home and can’t wait to come back again! Thank you so much for making our trip to Santorini so special!
Your guide to Santorini
All About Santorini
Santorini is an 11-mile-long island in the Aegean Sea, southeast of mainland Greece, and is the largest among a group of small, volcanic islands called the Cyclades. Officially known as Thira (Thera, in ancient Greek), Santorini has been inhabited since the Bronze Age. Its 20 or so villages exist atop one of the largest calderas — volcanic craters — in the world; the eruptions throughout its history helped create the dramatic black-sand beaches across its coastline.
Evidence of Santorini’s prehistoric past is on display at the underground Akrotiri archaeological site, where you can see the intricacies of the ancient civilizations who developed multi-floored buildings and drainage systems. The ruins seen today are the result of a volcanic eruption in the 16th century BCE that covered the village in lava and preserved elaborate wall paintings, dwellings, and pottery.
Santorini’s culture is also embodied in its food and drink. Wineries stretch across the countryside, where you can try the island’s native Assyrtiko white wine. Aromas from traditionally prepared coffee fill the cobble-stone streets, brewed with Greece’s specialty briki pot and enjoyed as a social activity. Local dishes prepared with Santorini’s local white eggplant and chlorotyri goat’s-milk cheese make for a dining experience you may not find anywhere else in the world, thanks to the island’s rich volcanic soil and distinct farming.
The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Santorini
You will find accommodations, including Santorini villas and rural retreats, across the island. During Santorini’s comfortable, warm spring months you can make the 6-mile hike from Fira to the village of Oia and ruins of its 15th-century castle while passing blooming wildflowers like lupins and corn poppies along the way. Mild weather in the fall brings the height of the grape harvest, making it an ideal season for trying one of the nearly 20 wineries scattered across the island.
Take advantage of the hot summer months by visiting some of Santorini’s swim-friendly beaches like Perissa or Kamari Beach. The island also hosts the Santorini Jazz Festival in July and the Ifestia (volcano) Festival in August, featuring fireworks and live music shows. During the colder months, you can take a wintertime dip in the thermal hot springs on Santorini’s smaller, uninhabited island, Palea Kameni.
Top things to do in Santorini
Ancient Thera
Some of Greece’s ancient history is on display atop the mountain of Mesa Vouno, accessible by a 4.5-mile hike or a drive to the ancient city of Thera, named for the volcano that famously erupted near it thousands of years ago. Ancient Thera sits at more than 1,000 feet above sea level; once you reach the peak, you will have panoramic views of the Aegean Sea while you stand among ancient ruins, founded in the 9th century B.C.E. and inhabited until 726 A.D.
Vlychada Beach
You can experience one of Santorini’s famous black-sand beaches at Vlychada. This swim-friendly beach on the southern coast is surrounded by towering cliffs. The best time to visit Vlychada Beach is later in the day for a beachside picnic and sunset.
Megalochori
Megalochori is a village on the southwestern coast of Santorini whose white-washed walls and bell towers tower over cobblestone streets as a former defense against pirates. The village is surrounded by Santorini’s wine country, making it a great place to try some of the island’s most-loved wines like the sweet, amber-colored Vinsanto and the crisp white Assyrtiko. Megalochori also hosts classical Greek music concerts throughout the year.
