Malibu PCH - across the street from the ocean!

SusanRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Nice stay for a short getaway at the popular location with a reasonable price. Eva is very responsive and helpful on giving instructions and reminders for check in and check out, and the local guide book is very useful for checking the walkable beaches nearby. Would definitely like to come back again!

Larry is a very hospitable host with a friendly demeanor. We had a wonderful stay in their home; it felt like a peaceful resort. I regret not having enough conversations with Larry and his wife, but we could feel their desire to help. We sincerely appreciate them providing their house for our stay.

Studio by the Beach with Separate Entrance

ToniRating, 5 stars1 week ago
This lady has thought of everything to make you feel comfortable and taken care of. Everything was clean and inviting. The bed was perfect. Sheets were soft. (Not like Mom's sheets😉) Coffee, tea, snacks and a fridge, all cleverly placed and handy. The shower was hot with great pressure. AND she has a fenced yard for your dog (or chickens). Her cute place is a 2 minute walk to the beach where you can watch the sea lions play and be obnoxious. Check in and out is simple as pie. It was definitely a perfect rest for us in the middle of a long drive back to Texas. I wish we could have stayed longer.

Malibu beachfront condo w pool, 2 bedroom 1 bath

LaurenceRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Very well located on Carbon Beach, as you may walk to the Pier or to Nobu. The apartment is very well equipped, like in a hotel room. The covered parking place is very useful (although difficult for Suburban) as it is pretty crowdy in summertime.

Char’s place is absolutely dreamy! It is extremely easy to find. Directions and instructions are clear. I really loved the personal touch Char added to the place. I was welcomed to a scented candle which already set the ambiance of the place. The kitchen is well equipped, the linens were cleaned, the back yard is a great space. The loft was an added bonus. The decoration is beautiful. It felt very secluded. I loved hearing all the animals in the back yard. I'll be back!

What a fun, magical, lovely weekend at this unique place. I loved being surrounded by nature, but being only a few minutes from a cutesy town! Not to mention only a short drive to the beach. Bed was comfy, the tub was great with plenty of hot water. It was my first stay in Topanga and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

This was our 2nd visit to the Magic Malibu Ranch and it was just as lovely as the 1st. The location is a hidden gem right off PCH, but very private feeling. Highlights for us were: dog-friendly, hiking trail to ocean view, and the private hot tub! A great getaway from the city.

"Casa Valentino" On the Sand at Hollywood Beach

DebraRating, 5 stars1 month ago
I have admired this Spanish style home on the sand for years. I was excited to see inside and the architectural details inside did not disappoint. The home inside was surprisingly large with four bedrooms and three baths. The best part was the large patio with fireplace for relaxing in the evening. Fresh flowers, fruit and candy were provided by the host. There was also a large selection of coffee and teas. Overall a great experience.

Sweeping Oc Vus-Cleaning Policy- Social Distancing

StacyRating, 5 stars3 months ago
We had a lovely weekend while in town for a wedding. Home is even nicer than the photos imply, and the two decks are very nice (one sunny and one shaded). Beverly is easy to chat with, and protective of the home which I understand. :) Kitchen and dining areas are large. We were building a charcuterie platter for the bride and there was plenty of space for 4 people to work together while making it. One note: cell service at the top of the hill (and much of Malibu, truthfully) is very poor. Once you’re inside on WiFi it’s fine, but take a screen shot of the host’s instructions (gate codes and such) so you’ll have them available when you park. Overall an enjoyable home with a lovely view.

Your guide to Malibu

All About Malibu

Malibu might be California's only seaside town whose residents are as famous as its beaches. This photogenic slice of sand and surf fits firmly into the Los Angeles ethos: It’s beautiful, breezy, and irresistible. Here, celebrity homes and beachfront retreats have overlooked one of Southern California's most pristine coastlines since the 1930s. As Malibu has grown in status and fame, it has added flashy see-and-be-seen restaurants but somehow still retains the quaint charm of a small town. Its 20 square miles contain more than three dozen beaches, and choosing the right one is important. If waves and tan lines aren’t your thing, however, Malibu is hemmed in by the Santa Monica Mountains, which beckon trail runners, hikers, and wild animals.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Malibu

Malibu's weather is flat-out gorgeous. Thanks to its Mediterranean climate, almost any time of year is a good time to visit. If you're looking for the classic golden sun and swimsuit weather, then July through September are the ideal months to visit, with average highs in the mid-70s Fahrenheit but plenty of days rising into the 80s. This is peak season, so be sure to book well in advance. The coldest months are December through February, with temperatures often dipping into the 40s, though you'll still get rogue warm days. Winter is often pleasant enough for you to take advantage of the local bluffs and mountains, but summer and fall are best for water sports.

Top things to do in Malibu

Point Dume Nature Preserve

The long, craggy bluff jutting into the Pacific Ocean known as Point Dume has become a Malibu icon. It's an ideal perch from which to watch the sunset or, from December to April, spot migrating gray whales. The preserve is connected to a state beach that's popular for swimming, scuba diving, and long scenic walks. Point Dume also abuts another not-to-be-missed Malibu attraction: Zuma Beach.

Paradise Cove

One of the most notable beaches in Malibu delivers a one-two punch: prime beach real estate and a cafe with ocean-view seating that is nearly as coveted. People line up early to stake out a table. To the east is a row of Malibu mansions clinging to coastal bluffs, and to the west, a stretch of sandstone cliffs tailor-made for sunset strolls.

Escondido Falls

At 150 feet tall, Escondido Falls is one of the tallest waterfalls in Southern California, and the trail leading up to it offers a refreshing shady break from worshipping the sun. The waterfall’s three tiers cascade down a series of limestone ledges. To reach it, tread the 3.8-mile moderate trail from Winding Way East. The reward will be worth it.
