Bora Bora waterfront sunrise villa

ToddRating, 5 stars3 months ago
We had an amazing stay and would definitely stay there again. We spent most evenings on the outside deck listening to music and enjoying the beautiful view of the lagoon. We took several bike rides (provided by the host) to the nearby stores. Was really nice to see how locals live. We did a day pass to the Conrad resort and though we thought that was amazing we would rather stay at Villa Sunrise. There is a rental car agency 5 minute walk from the house. Just past that a Jetski rental. So super convenient. If you want a more real island vibe vs luxury resort type thing I highly recommend this house.

Villa Farerua

ChristianRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We had an amazing stay! The location is perfect! If you like waking up to amazing views and going to be with awesome sunsets then this is the perfect place. The house is immaculately kept and is very welcoming. Close to all of the restaurants , but you will need a rental car, which was a great recommendation from our host. Staying on the island allows you to experience the island without having the tie downs of a resort. We highly recommended staying here!

Mererau Lodge

MaxRating, 5 stars1 week ago
As all the other reviewers have said, Mererau Lodge is a true gem very conveniently located on a beautiful property off a quiet lane in Vaitape. We so appreciated Laure and Karl’s kindness. They offered wonderful tips and suggestions for things to do in Bora Bora and every morning shared with us fresh eggs and fruit from their garden. Guests can also rent cars and e-bikes right from the property. An outstanding experience.

Tiki house .Bungalow Premium clim, private pool

SharlaRating, 5 stars11 months ago
Thank You Frederic and family for sharing with us your beautiful home, the Tiki House. Frederic met us at Tiki House with a warm welcome and showed us around the beautiful little house and his lovely gardens! The home has several small touches to make it a lovely and comfortable place to stay. We wished our plans had allowed for a longer stay. It is private and quiet, comfortable air conditioning and comfortable bed. The breakfast provided was out of this world!! Everything about the stay was perfect in every way!! It is a blessing to stay in a place owned and cared for by a local. You can feel the warmth and love they have for their island and their home. Thanks again and hopefully someday we will be back.

We loved Aro’s place. He was not only a very communicative host but also we loved staying at this place. Very close to everything, clean and comfortable place with aircon and we loved the bikes to get around. Aro gave us local recommendations pretty much about everything and it was not only helpful but most of all we enjoyed it.

Fare HeiHia BeachBungalow

AngRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We stayed in Fare HeiHia from September 25 - October 10, 2024. We had a wonderful stay. Angele, our host, made us feel welcomed with fresh fruits and a clean bungalow. She did an awesome job decorating and beautifying the property. She gave us free use of the kayaks along with safety vests. She was very accommodating of our needs, and her response time was quick. I highly recommend this waterfront bungalow.

Matira Lagoon

Great location, I mean it’s 10 steps away from the ocean. I did snorkel a bit right in front of beach. A school of tropical fish, stingray around spotty reef. This house is new, really new. I was second guest for this unit. Everything is well equipped. Nothing can beat perfect paradise view with a cup of coffee at the morning. The host is every responsive, she answer all my question in a couple minutes.

Bora Bora Holiday's Lodge -A/C-Chbr dbl/Sdb (2per)

JoseRating, 5 stars24 months ago
Maira and her daughter were the best and most helpful hosts ever. The rooms were very clean and had everything we needed. We had come after staying at the Intercontinental Thalasso Resort. We also wanted to explore around the main island and do not regret booking here. The customer service was the same as that of a 5 star resort. When we arrived the hosts gave us recommendations on where to eat and even scheduled us for a lagoon tour within an hours notice. The tour was amazing. The Yacht Club is a short 5 min walk and a great place to eat dinner. Saint James is also a short 16 minute walk and a good place for drinks. The rooms are very clean and the breakfast option that is offered is also very good.

Perfect physical welcome and very available. Perfect house, very well placed in a quiet location but close to tt,(beach and snacks 50 m away) Very nice service it is like at home otherwise more to make food. The best part is the totally enclosed wooded garden with a pool and very well maintained. The icing on the cake we had the fruits of the garden available, bananas and papaya. Bike available to go shopping and kayaking for walks on the lagoon. Highly recommend ❤️

Private Island Getaway

CornelRating, 5 stars4 months ago
Complete serenity, very quiet and private. There's nothing to do on the island except relaxing. Pro: - Pretty big villa, very nicely decorated. Lovely terrace and pontoon, a lot of places where to stay in the sun - The beach is somewhat wild, don't expect fine sand. Includes a lot of vegetation - Wonderful water, great to kayak and snorkel, the view from above is breathtaking. You'll see dozens of boats with tourists coming in the lagoon - Excellent view overall - Very private, high chance nobody else on the island (except for 2 neighbors residents) - Includes boat transfer to / from the airport. If this is not your first hotel in Bora Bora then you will need to go back to the airport for pick-up to the hotel. Cons: - Annoying dogs and cats - water power generator issues, stops during the night and restarts only in the morning, meaning no water - a lot of mosquitoes once the evening comes, but at least they have nets covering the whole beds

Kapiolani was an excellent host. She picked us up from the airport and arranged a rental car and jet ski tour for us. She answered all of our questions and provided great suggestions. The house is new and offers a stunning view of the lagoon, with a beautiful private beach right in front of it.

Boat in Bora-Bora

Paradise escape on the Bora Bora lagoon!

GregRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We spent 5 nights with Alban on his boat in Tikehau. We had plans to sail around the motus and over to Rangiroa but the weather didn’t cooperate. Through it all, Alban did his best to make sure we had options of things to do - he shuttled us to and from land, helped us communicate with locals, and prepared excellent meals. The boat itself is well maintained and clean. The toilets are motorized, not manual, and hot water is available. Pretty good in our book. We enjoyed snorkeling from the boat including daily visits from manta rays, sharks, and big fish that would hang out right under the boat. The canine boat mascot, Swell, was eager to let us know wherever they were near. 😃

Your guide to Bora-Bora

All About Bora-Bora

Often called the Jewel of the South Seas, Bora-Bora is a tropical gem northwest of Tahiti. Only 15 square miles in size, the formerly volcanic island is famous for its palm trees and the cerulean lagoon. Bora-Bora possesses a calming beauty that draws visitors from around the world looking to unwind and recharge. Unsurprisingly, it’s a top destination for honeymooners and those looking to celebrate their anniversary. Snorkeling, scuba diving, and exploring the pristine coral reefs that call this petite island home are just a few of the highlights of the island. Whether on land, in the sea, or soaring through the sky, there are many different ways to enjoy the natural beauty and bounty of Bora-Bora.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Bora-Bora

The best time to consider houses in Bora-Bora is during November and April. Shoulder seasons offer warm weather while largely being free of rain. Some events to look out for include the Tahiti Pearl Regatta in May, a sailing race, between the islands of Raiatea, Bora-Bora, Huahine, and Taha'a, with participants coming from as far away as Hawaii to participate. Also, watch out for the Heiva I Bora-Bora Festival, the island’s largest festival, held in July or August. It is a celebration of life that showcases traditional Polynesian costumes, skills, and music, although it was formerly a ritual used to prepare for war. The Bora-Bora Liquid Festival in December is an athletic competition which features contestants competing in the lagoon and often accompanied by many beach celebrations.

Top things to do in Bora-Bora

Mount Otemanu

Mount Otemanu is one of two peaks remaining of the extinct volcano in the center of Bora-Bora. Rising almost 2,400 feet over the lagoon, a visit to the island isn’t complete without a trip to the top of this mountain to take in the sights. If hiking isn’t your thing, never fear — there are many ways to experience Mount Otemanu, from four-wheel drives and boat tours to guided helicopter rides or walking along the beach.

Matira Beach

One of Bora-Bora’s many breathtaking beaches, Matira Beach stands out for its coastal shops and eateries, incredible sunsets, and its sapphire blue water. Fun things to do during your time at the beach include snorkeling, sun-bathing on the crisp white sands, and wading across the shallows to Matira Point and the nearby barrier reef during low tide.

Stand-up paddleboarding

Stand-up paddleboarding is one of Bora-Bora’s longest-running pastimes. Many businesses offer paddle-board rentals, and it’s a great way to explore the lagoons and shallow reefs of Bora-Bora while getting some exercise. The island’s waters are usually calm, perfect for beginner paddlers.
