Pre-Hispanic sunrise of Xochimilco
In the South of the Mexico City, we can find Xochimilco, where prehispanic natives built the chinampas on top of a great lake. This are islands used for agriculture, that through time, conformed a great network of canals, in which we will sail through time, enjoying nature and the presence of its flora and fauna.
We will embark on a cayuco (small boat), a little bit before sunrise and we´ll silently watch the birds waking up through the mist, realizing that this is a living ecosystem which is home for several native birds, including migrating ones. We are going to row through the canals, the same way as the natives did it so many years ago.
We´ll have a small coffe break and arrive to our chinampa in time for breakfast. Then, we will learn from the ancient and new techniques used at the chinampa to produce a sustainable an organic agriculture.

- I will wait for you at a famous dock in Xochimilco with the trajinera (boat) ready to sail down on a canal full with other trajineras enjoying a unique, cheerful and colorful stroll.
-First of all we will get comfortable on the boat and we will start the tour with a toast of mezcal.
-Even it´s a tour for amusement, I will tell you "briefly" about the history, customs and legends of Xochimilco.
- You will have beer, mezcal and water.
- I will serve a traditional mexican meal: chicken with mole, familiar recipe.
-I will give you a cocktail "PALOMA"
- On the table there will be 15- 20 bottles of mezcal with different natural flavors.
- I will play traditional music the first half of the tour and cheerful music the second half.
-On your count you might hire a Mariachi band ($150 pesos per song, the one who asks for it, pays for it). It´s worth.
-We will pass through a replica of the island of the dolls.
- You will be able to take the row and pose for a very special photo.
- I will stop in some places for you to go to the restroom.

Xochimilco: Explore the neighborhood, flavors, drinks and boat trip in a beautiful Trajinera
Xochimilco has been declared a World Cultural Heritage Site due to its historical and cultural richness. We will visit the highlights of Xochimilco, located south of Mexico City an hour away by Uber from La Condesa. First we will see the Cathedral, built in the 16th century. Then we will visit the main market where you will see piñatas and various products, fruits and vegetables. We will go to the flower market to see the beautiful colors of Xochimilco. Then we will visit a typical pulqueria where we will try "pulque" a millenary drink, prehispanic, with 4 degrees of alcohol, made with the fermented wisdom of an agave plant, if you do not drink alcohol do not worry we have non-alcoholic options like fruit juices.
We will end with a relaxing 1.5 hour boat ride "trajinera", we will go through some beautiful and quiet ecological canals, in the lake you will be able to appreciate the fauna: ducks, herons and parrots. With our friend Mario we will learn about agriculture and construction of the floating islands "chinampas" that continue to be used for cultivation. We will go down to meet a chinampa where there is the replica of the "Isla de las muñecas" to learn about ghost stories in Xochimilco. We will have a delicious quesadillas lunch on the lake where we have options with meat or it could be vegan or vegeterian. And we also have more surprises for you!

During the tour, we will tell you about the history of the place and its importance to the sustainability of Mexico City. In your way, you will recognize the biological richness like birds, snakes, frogs and plants. We will arrive at a chinampa where you can get your hands dirty experiencing the ancestral technique of cultivation and discovering why it is considered a world heritage. We will board a cayuco in the morning and walk the canals to get to "Olintlalli", admiring some of the natural and organic richness that the place has. We will observe different types of birds, while the guide tells them about them and some historical data of the place.
When you arrive at the Chinampa, you will be greeted with the smoke of the copal and the sound of the drum. We will enjoy a rich breakfast made with the chinamper corn that we grow.
You'll learn the theory steps we've developed to grow with ancestral techniques.
We will take a tour of the different crops at the same time that we harvest the supplies to prepare the food of the day (the dish depends on the time of year and the planting).
The experience is surrounded by corn, so we will carry out some activity related to its cultivation, whether it is sowing, chaponeo, corn harvesting, corn pixca, mazorcan landing and seed selection. The activity depends on the time of year and the stage in which the milpa is located.
You will learn some legends about corn, parts of the plant, tools used by farmers, farmers for their cultivation, storage and/or transformation: COA, Cincolote, Olotera, Molino, Metate.
They will learn about the nixtamification process and grind Nixtamal to make: tortillas, soups, quesadillas, tetelas or tlacoyos that we will eat.

Uncover the heart and soul of México in Xochimilco
You will learn about local and ancient traditions while we cook together a local delicacy in a traditional boat in the idyllic Xochimilco canals.
At 9:30 am we will pick you up at your stay if is a private group or in a midpoint if there are two or more groups on the reservation, from there a private transport will drive you to central Xochimilco. After I welcome you with a traditional coffee at Dalia (a women cultural collective coffee shop) we will walk to Xochimilco farmers market to choose fresh vegetables for our lunch.
From there we will aboard a pedicab, a local transport that will take us to the pier to board a Trajinera (traditional colorful boat) to start exploring the mesmerizing canals. You will understand how ancient pre-Columbian communities lived in harmony with nature and while we talk about our present traditions, we will cook (and then eat) a local delicacy, a tamal called Tlapique paired with toritos (fruit juice with mezcal).
Before we end our journey, we will visit an Axolotl sanctuary. Axolotls are Xochimilco´s endemic salamanders, listed as a endanger species and used extensively in scientific research due to their ability to regenerate limbs, gills and brains.
We will finish our journey in Dalia café at 2:00 pm from there you can take a taxi/uber to your next destination or keep exploring the amazing center of Xochimilco

Join me in our tour through Xochimilco, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
We'll meet outside the tren ligero's last station called "Xochimilco".
Our first stop is going to be breakfast so bring your hungry with you!
We'll have quesadillas and cecina tacos, we'll taste many fruits, and we'll learn a lot of things while I take you around the markets so you can have the local experience with me.
Also we'll visit historic places like Xochimilco's Cathedral, and we'll end up partying on top of a Trajinera (platform like leisure boat) that includes a wonderful mezcal tasting, the best micheladas, music and surprises.
We also arrange vegetarian and vegan options.

Exploring the Waters of Tolantongo
We will meet at the "Angel de Independencia" approximately around 6:15am, departing early to escape the city chaos. Our group will have private comfortable transportation. We will stop for an early breakfast in Actopan, a city halfway to our destination.
The day is divided into three parts.
Pool Tranquility: Start your day relaxing a while in the “pocitos”; naturally warm thermal pools that provide astounding views that soothe & clear the body and mind –perfect for “the gram.”
River Relaxation: Next, the turquoise-colored river is well-managed and is naturally warm due to the thermal springs, a complete relaxing experience. Lunch will be alongside the river (weather permitting).
Cave Exploration: Finally, you will see awe-inspiring waterfalls and unexpected adventure that our guests have described as “life changing.”
We will head out by 5:30PM arriving between 9-10:30PM, full of new experiences and photos to share with envious family/friends.
Injuries, while rare, may occur during an outdoor exploration. This experience includes water, creating slippery walking surfaces near the pools and river. There is a bonus cave (optional) with low clearance –be aware of height to reduce risk of head injury. There is inherent risk with any outdoor activity. We will take a tour of the traditional canal, we will pass through the ecological zone where we will make a stop at the Ajolotes museum, a kind of amphibian typical of Xochimilco which is in danger of extinction, then we will make another stop at a serpentarium and continue until we arrive to the original and famous doll island where you can meet one of the most popular legends in the area. During the tour we will taste typical Mexican snacks, taste mezcal and listen to the traditional Mexican mariachi.

Our adventure will begin by boarding a private boat called "trajinera" ready to sail on the famous canals of Xochimilco, enjoying different activities such as, delicious Mexican cuisine, and a good MICHELADA (beer prepared) created by you.
