Homestead Tour with Goats through the Woods
**Spring and Winter hikes**
Arrowhill farm had a busy January/February! We now have added 50 new kids to our farm. Lots of cute cuddly baby goats to come and pet. Bring your mudboots and warm attire. We might be hiking through snow and mud!
Every morning at 10 am our goat herd is released from their over night paddock to forage through our wooded dune lands. The farm is surrounded by the county’s recreational public Manistee forest with hundreds of acres of pure Michigan nature along beautiful sandy hiking trails. Guests begin the hike at the rendezvous goat barn with the goats. Here is where our goats can be pet and introduced, starting the hour long easy walking trail hike. During this gentle jaunt through the woods our guests will get to know our friendly goats by being able to hand feed treats, learn what shrubs are the goats’ favorite forage, and have any extra belongings (such as a water bottle) be panniered by our goats. Although this experience is routinely beginning every morning, sometimes we can flexibly arrange our goat hikes to start at anytime from 8am till noon. Our hike does wind in and off of our farm property as well so our guests will be given stories of farm life and all the ins and outs of what it takes to raise these wonderful creatures.

Once we see Lakefront Brewing, which marks the end of the downtown corridor, we will and loop back to the Cooperage Docks.

Alpaca Love
Spend an hour with alpacas on our organic hobby farm - where animals are family. Libby is the matriarch, Lizzy is her next in charge, and Chips and Salsa are their crias (and half-siblings) who were both born here at the farm in 2019.
We'll start out with a meet and greet with the alpacas, providing you with their favorite grain to feed to them. Most days, Chips is a fan of bodywork, getting all of the scratching and loving you can muster. She was handled quite extensively after her birth and is a fan of humans - often bumping noses with guests during her investigation of them.
Did you know that alpacas are huge fans of water? When the temps outside are warmer, you’ll be their favorite person when you turn on the hose at the barn to fill their kiddie pool and shower them until they are soaked through - and loving it! Don't be surprised if Polo, our 150-pound Pyrador farm dog tries to get in their pool, too.
We're happy to answer all of your questions about our hobby farm, alpacas and other animals we keep and raise. We have lived here for about a decade and the farm and animals teach us something new each day. You'll also have an opportunity to visit our historic red dairy barn for a peek at vintage and local goods or to grab some quick refreshment for yourself.

Tarot on the Lake
We will do a meditation to center, discuss your needs, and then do a 30 minute reading per participant. The reading will bring clarity with spirit providing both predictive and prescriptive solutions.
Review of participant:
Suzanne is a gifted medium who instantly tapped into a meaningful connection. Steele eased my first-time jitters with her kindness, taking her time, finding deeper guidance than I ever expected from a single reading. I found her reading possessed spot-on relevance and I felt her presence was warm, inviting, full of light and encouragement.
I highly recommend her experience to anyone seeking higher guidance in any aspect of life, whether you've had prior readings with other mediums or if this is your first experience.
I will definitely continue working with Suzanne because she exudes generosity of spirit and compassion beyond measure. Her reading was a pleasure, something I wish to experience again.

Cigar Smoking for Newbies
Join me at the Tasting Room cigar bar. This is one of Madison’s great little gems. The Tasting Room has the largest walk in cigar humidors in the area and offers a great selection of spirits, beer and non alcoholic beverages.
I want to share cigar 101 basics for people who have never smoked cigars before going over the basic process of cigar making, choosing a cigar, the etiquette of cigar smoking, how to light a cigar, the tools required to successfully keep a cigar humidor at home and how to properly enjoy the flavors of cigar smoking.
This class is for people who have never been shown the proper way to smoke high quality tobacco and maybe had not so great experiences with cigar smoking in the past because of a lack of understanding in this beautiful ancient tradition.
Of course, this is for people over the age of 21. The Tasting room has many great spirits that pair nicely with a cigar from all over the world. There is also beer and non alcoholic beverages such as coffee as well.
The duration is approximately 2 hours however a lot of this depends on the size of the cigar that is smoked. The cigar and drinks are not included in the total price. Cigars can range anywhere from 10-30 USD.
Backyard Beekeeping
Before you put your beekeeping veil on, we'll first review the workings of a honey bee colony and the basics of backyard beekeeping. We'll discuss equipment, safety precautions for working around a hive, and steps you can take to prepare your own yard for beekeeping. You will then have the opportunity to experience and photograph a honey bee hive inspection. All activities will take place outdoors.
Other things to note: Honey bees are sensitive to how people behave. Please bring a calm and curious attitude.
Boat Cruise on the Madison Lakes
Enjoy a fun and relaxing escape out on the water with a boat tour on the Madison Lakes.
We captain all of our tours so you can enjoy your cruise without worry! We pick you up at the designated spot, take you out on the lake, and then you can go swimming and/or we can stop at some local bars on the lake.
All of the fun of boating, with none of the hassle!
Meet the Farm Babies of Heart and Soil Ridge
Cuddle a baby goat, hold a tiny chick in your hand, scratch a piglet, or watch a mother cow care for her calf. Cradle tiny Labrador puppies, or pet a baby kitten as it purrs. Perhaps even witness the miracle of a baby being born! Experiencing the innocence and beauty of baby animals on the farm is an unforgettable experience that reminds us of innocence, new beginnings, and respect for life around us. And, they are just plain adorable. Join us on the farm as we welcome in a new round of babies this year!
We will start our time orienting you to the farm and offering a brief overview of how we use regenerative farming practices to better our farm, our lives, and our environment. As we move through the different classes of livestock we have on the farm, you’ll have ample time to connect with or hold the babies, take photos, and learn about that particular animal’s experience on our farm. Each animal is unique, and you will enjoy meeting the pigs, goats, chickens, puppies, kittens, and cows that call Heart and Soil Ridge their home.
Some of our babies spend their first days in the barn, and others in the fields. Come ready to take a short hike out to the pastures to see those frolicking in the fields. We are here to answer questions, tell stories of our experiences with the animals, and allow you room to explore the new life we have here.
Biodiversity stewardship
Welcome to our home place! As you drive through the jackleg fence gate you will be greeted by Elijah & the two dogs. The sheep & hens are free range so keep an eye out for them crossing the lane as you drive in. Introductions will be exchanged as you take your time to get the appropriate footwear/clothing on & then it's time to discuss topsoil, mycelium & the benefits of no-till aeration in the front hayfield which is done by swine & fowl. Next it's time to feed the hens! You will be handed a scoop of whole scratch grains from the garden shed & be given a demonstration on how to call for the hennies & how to throw their grain. We have many different breeds of fowl, so be sure to feel free to ask "what kind of chicken is that!?!" The second half of the land use tour focuses on forest management, fungi, bee & bat habitat, watershed & so much more. The last part of the tour will be spent with our small flock of sheep & if it is in season, you will be offered the chance to try some delicious sheep milk! An absolute delicacy!!
