Vegan picnic with rescued animals
We'll start with a tour of the sanctuary where you'll meet a variety of rescued farm animals. We'll share their stories of resilience and healing and talk a bit more about the industries they come from. You'll love meeting our animal ambassadors and may be surprised at what you learn, since we so rarely see the animals in our food system.
Join us afterwards at our picnic tables in the field for a glass of local wine and a vegan cheese and charcuterie platter. (Note: The platter contains nuts and gluten unless otherwise requested. Please inform us of any allergies when you make your booking so we can be sure to provide suitable options. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be served.)
The Experience will last approximately 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Please be mindful that as a sanctuary for rescued animals, our priority is the physical and emotional well being of the rescued animals who call Charlie's Acres home.
Our loved animal residents are completely free and always have a choice as to whether or not they want to interact with visitors. They will reside at the sanctuary for the rest of their lives, where we'll have the honor of taking care of them.

Tour the valley with The Wine Gypsy
We will head out for the more remote parts of the valley. Up on mountains and down the back roads to places that you might never find on your own. I choose wineries with character, whether it’s the people or the place. Something unique and special that makes you think “This is cool!” What you imagine when you picture a Napa Valley wine tasting experience. Properties that you are reluctant to leave because the wine is so good and the people so friendly you could sit there all day.
Eat your picnic lunch on a hillside overlooking the valley. Winter months we might eat inside the winery, or do a tasting beside a roaring fire while we watch the rain fall. Sit and converse with the winemaker in their homes. Tour a property in an ATV. Hit golf balls out into a lake surrounded by vineyards.
Please note** Tasting fees are not included in the price. Wineries will comp fees with a wine purchase. If you are traveling where purchasing wine is not an option, you may opt to pay the tasting fees.
Please note there may be another party on the tour with you.
We spend a full day together because there is so much to see. I will pick you up either at the meet spot or at your local Napa Valley lodgings. Pickups outside of Napa Valley are possible for an additional charge.
Other things to note
Cellar tasting rooms can be a bit chilly. We will be climbing some stairs, and navigating some gravel pathways.
Water and sparkling water will be provided.

Mendocino Historic District Walking Tour
Kelley House docents lead you on a beautiful and informative walking tour through the preserved-in-time 19th century village of Mendocino, designated as a National Historic Preservation District. The tour takes between 1.5 - 2 hours.
Prepare to be entertained with colorful tales from the town’s rough and tumble past. Learn how a shipwreck led to the discovery of the redwood forest, which brought lumber mills that supplied California’s gold rush era building boom. Visit New England-style pioneer homes, find out why Mendocino is known as the city of water towers, admire gardens with 100-year-old roses, and hear the secrets of a haunted hotel. You’ll learn why so many movie directors have used Mendocino as a shooting location, and how an art renaissance in the ‘60s led to the town’s preservation.
Enjoy Mendocino’s rich cultural heritage, from the Pomo tribe that lived here for thousands of years enjoying the bounties of the land and sea, to the European and Chinese immigrants who built the town you see today.
The town of Mendocino is a 15 minute drive south from Fort Bragg, CA so if you are staying in that vicinity we hope you will come on our tour.

Taste the Finest Wines in the World
1. You'll be introduced to the site, Halleck Vineyard, and a bit about its history in Sonoma County. You will be introduced by the vintner to the land and the vines.
2. We will sit down and learn how to taste: why do we smell to begin? what does our tongue taste? what is the reason and benefit in pairing wine with food?
3. We will go through 7-8 wines along with 5-6 food pairings, all from the neighborhood and explore how different they taste and the nuances of each. And we'll taste different pairings and how they each bring something to the experience.
4. We'll learn about wine in human history, 8000 years in the making.
5. We talk about building community through wine, how we convert wine into good for our world.
6. You'll meet interesting people and how much we share in common.
7. This tasting educational, fun, and intimate: perfect for groups and team-building.
Other things to note
Come with curiosity and interest in wine, prepared to enjoy yourself. Food pairings are bites, and are meant to be illustrative rather than a meal.
