This was a very nice and friendly group who were very interested in the local area. They left the cottage in a clean and tidy condition.Would recommend them to other hosts.
Merci Elisabeth, ça a été vraiment un grand plaisir et déjà triste d'avoir quitté le Kerry....à bientôt...
Michèle and her group were well-mannered and kind, a pleasure to meet and to have with us. They were out long hours during the day, very independent in their program, and quiet enough in the house at night that they did not ever distract anyone from work or disturb anyone’s sleep. This is very helpful when it comes to living in a tight New York townhouse situation; so we thank them greatly for showing good respect for our lives and for the sleep that we find so precious here. The only discussion I might suggest that a host have with this group, particularly if the host is as uninitiated to some of the newer technologies as is this perhaps somewhat antediluvian writer, is whether your space will easily accommodate the use of electronic cigarettes. On this count, first: I applaud people who have the courage to make a serious move away from smoking. Second: I would note that while these electronic devices are clearly milder than traditional cigarettes, they do still risk (particularly if windows are shut in the midst of winter) leaving the atmosphere of a space slightly altered – temporarily. In the event, it ended up being no problem for us, since the guests who followed this group were easy-going and cheerful, reassuring me: “Don’t worry on our account, we’ll just spray some perfume around!” I found myself thinking that I’d stumbled into a Cat in the Hat story by Dr. Seuss, where the solution to the solution to the solution to the solution to… ends finally in a landscape covered in uniformly pink snow. But, as with those beloved stories (generally), all has in fact ended well; and a few weeks later, there is no noticeable trace of either the electronic cigarette or the extra perfume (or the pink snow). Now if, instead of the jolly perfume sprayers, we had received a group much more intolerant to any unexpected substance in the air, we might have faced a rather different story… In any case, if this issue is important to you, just have the discussion, and surely you can find an arrangement that will suit all people involved. This is community, after all, and we are creative solution finders (evidently).
