I travelled to Piso Livadi with my husband and our 2-year-old, for 9 days. The house was lovely, even nicer than it appeared in the photos, and in a quiet area. We had no problems with the house and really enjoyed the patio and, of course, the beautiful view. Two beaches and a small port with seafood restaurants were a 5-min walk away. It was perfect for our little family. We rented a car for 3 days and that was enough to visit other interesting spots in the island, and also did a one-day excursion to Santorini that leaves directly from Piso Livadi. Finally, Smara was very kind to us and she knows her island well. Ask her which restaurants have their own fishing boats, what to see and do, how to live the local life, you will not be disappointed.
This was a beautiful clean apartment with a wonderful view of the Aegean Sea, next to marble beaches. It is in the small peaceful (April) town of Piso Livadi. The outside patio was like an extra room, and a wonderful place for breakfast. Great restaurants and friendly Greek people were part of our experience. We were tired from a month of touring and relaxed there for 10 days: We were recharged!
Smara is a wonderful hostess, making sure we were connected with helpful people on the Island. Walking the Byzantine Trail was a highlight.
We found we could not have too many electrial things (like heaters) running at the same time without overloading the circuits.(easy to fix on the breaker box). The shower was nice; no bathtub. Our only real complaint was that the bed was very hard.
Be aware that you are a 45 min bus ride or 25 min taxi ride (25 Euro) from the Port on the Island.
Also, bring Euros as hardly anyone takes credit cards.
We would definitely go back and stay at Smara's again.
