We spent 1 week in the amazing bungalow. We loved every minute of it! Tehaamana was kind enough to pick us up at the ferry, and at the end of the week Julia insisted on dropping us off! On arrival there were a few beers, water and juice in the fridge. Also coffee and tea were provided! Fresh flowers were placed very thoughtfully inside and the following day Julia dropped off fresh jams!
We loved the place - there is everything you need in it! It was exactly as described and completely clean. Julia has prepared a book (in both English and French) that has awesome recommendations for the best things to do on the island. The book is complete with hand drawn maps. There is a prepaid cell to use for making reservations while on the island. The wifi is strong. The shower is hot! We were able to cook all the food we wanted to on the propane cookstove. The bed in the loft is comfortable. They kindly provide mosquito coils, a mosquito net and a fan.
The location is awesome. 10 minute walk to an amazing beach where you can snorkel right off of the beach, near a small grocery store, and also a few restaurants.
We rented a car for a few days, just to get to some of the further things we wanted to see on the island - and it helped with getting a few more groceries that weren't available nearby. Bikes are provided at the fare so you can easily bike around the area as well.
Julia and Tehaamana are also very nice people, I wish we had a chance to spend more time with them! They are both kind and considerate people and it shows with their hospitality.
We were welcomed lovely. Fresh flowers everywhere and lovely jams were placed on porch
The little house is very special and we were glad to spend time rhete
We stayed at Julia's for 2 nights. She was soo friendly and nice for us! The place is also really nice and clean and the location is perfect near the beach! So we totally recommend staying here! She also has a map with tips to discover the island so that was very usefull as well! And the tour she recommend us was great, an amazing experience! Thanks for everything Julia!
This was our first time using airbnb snd we were very happy with both the system and the wonderful host. The bungalow as exactly as pictured and described. There was a very helpful book in both French and English which greatly enhanced our visit. Moorea is a very expensive place and the book had some wonderful local places to eat. The kitchenette was a great bonus to keep costs down. The hosts were helpful without being intrusive and respected our privacy. The area is a quiet neighborhood and we felt very safe. The bicycles were also a nice treat.
The location is great, just minutes from the best public beach on Moorea. Julia cottage was as described, clean, nicely furnished, and a good value. It is essential to have your own transportation, either a scooter or car. Our time there was in the rainy season. Our only issue was difficulty dealing with the mosquitoes. The cottage is typical for Moorea without screens and many places for the bugs to get in. In spite of nets, fans and the like, we got many bites during the night while sleeping. So if you want a slice of life on Moorea , away from the resorts, this is a good option.
Julia and her husband Tehaa are wonderful hosts. Due to bad weather, my flight delayed more than 2 hrs. Tehaa went to airport three times trying to get me. On the way to their house, he stopped at a nearby store reminding me to grab some food for the night, as it was turning dark in the evening. Very thoughtful. Later Julia brought me three different fruit jam ( home made?), just what I need for my bread. As I only have one full day the next day in Moorea, Jula immediately called three times, back and forth for me (as I don't speak French), to finalize and booked a half day tour for next morning at 8am. Also when Tehaa went to get bread for their family in the next morning, he also get one for me and refuse to accept my payment. Polynesian hospitality. Of course I want to thank Julia for her rushing back from work and drop me off at airport.
The bunglor is as described in Airbnb. It is in the same compound with host's house, but physically totally separated. So you have your own total privacy and can easily contact host. The unit equipped with private bath and kitchen facilities; a table stove, microwave, frig (cold drinks were already stored for you), kettle ( with coffee, tea bags, sugar, etc.). One single bed on ground floor and a much larger sleeping area in the attic accessed through a ladder ( easy, not a big deal). All in all my experience with Julia and her husband Tehaa was great. I wish them well. Oh, thank you for let me use your byke.
Staying with Julia and Tehaamana was an amazing experience and a great way to visit Moorea. The reception was extremely friendly with flowers in the cottage, water, beers, and home made local fruit marmelade. They even offered to pick us up at the ferry to get to the cottage.
Once at the cottage, we found all the details of activities to do on Moorea in a book written by Julia in French and English with a mobile phone to make reservations locally. They had bikes for us to go around the area and the gorgeous nearby beach which is not too busy (5 minutes on the bikes). Also, if you want to visit the entire island, I definitely recommend renting a scooter or a small car to go around the island and visit (they can deliver those directly to the cottage).
Overall Julia and Tehaamana were very welcoming hosts (they even showed us how to open fresh coconuts and make our own coconut milk) with a great little cottage with everything you need to make food, sleep well, and relax.
It's definitely the place to stay if you want to see Moorea without being stuck in an expensive hotel/resort.
