My name is Ami Jastrzemski (pronounced Ya-strem-ski) and I have had several nicknames in my life ranging from Lulu, Ami J., and Amilya as a child, to Aim, Carl and Yaz in highschool, the latter which has carried on into adulthood. I recall being the only kid in kindergarten doomed to learn so many letters and the only one with a Z in her name, which was something that I hated at the time, but in retrospect, I’ve become quite attached.
I'm from Central New Jersey, but have lived in Boston, Austin and London, before (reluctantly) making a complete circle back. It is in fact the Garden State and I lived for a few years in a wonderful turn of the century house in a county that is still mostly farmland. I recently relocated to New Orleans and feel lucky to live in another historic property in a city that I had been continually drawn back to since my first visit 12 years ago. I fell into the insurance industry after I graduated from college and work in a niche specialty focusing on Architects & Engineers Professional Liability. I still contend that it is the ONLY type of insurance that I think I'd enjoy, as contrarily, my educational background was Sociology/Gender, though my analytical nature happens to lend well to my job. I've been to more countries than I have states, but with my current underwriting job I have recently been trying to couple some personal time into business trips so that I can experience more of our beautiful country.
I have always found myself to be equally split between logical and creative arenas and have been proven right in several right brain/left brain tests, which deem that I'm an equal 50/50 percent. I'm indecisive, yet calculated, artistic, yet exact, mathematical, yet spontaneous and I always find myself struggling to find comfort between these extremes. In the end, I have several diverse interests ranging from travel (and the photography, food, and wandering that I partake in while away) to home improvements/design (online and showroom brainstorming, antique store and Etsy browsing), so I'm equally a wanderlust and a homebody, too.
I'd love to be your next guest :)
