The most superb home we have ever stayed in. The house is stunning and in perfect condition - as we pulled into the driveway all 5 of us in the car let out a colletive "Wow" - the pictures just simply don't do the house justice - it's incredible. Everything is clean and Claudia is a star - she's totally organized. The house is 5 mins from the village and the village is awesome too with great restaurants and activities - we recommend the canopy tour & tge boat trip. There's only one word that describes this place perfectly - "Magical". I cannot recommend it highly enough
John & Linda Newell.
Very nice house well situated just outside of town. Modern, with all the facilities, and yet homely and welcoming. Clean, super quiet, with a beautiful garden. We cooked dinner for the two nights we were there as we enjoyed it so much.
Very good communication with the owner, Pablo, and the care taker, Claudia.
We stayed only two days before heading to Bariloche but in retrospect a few more days in Villa Angostura and skipping Bariloche altogether would have been a better alternative. Do not miss the visit of the Arrayanes National Park situated on a beautiful peninsula with breathtaking views.
Pablo was very available and helpful. The house is cute and well located. We really enjoyed our stay at Calma Chico
We spent six days at Pablo's beautiful house, Calma Chicho, in Valeria del Mar. The house is nicely laid out, with a wonderful working fire place, two pretty bedrooms upstairs and one with a double bed downstairs. We enjoyed using the parilla grill one of our night. There are two lovely tables outside, plenty of room for us, we were four people, but eight could easily fit at the big wooden picnic table. The garden was clean and green, with mature pine and other trees and verdant grass. We felt safe and secure.
Unfortunately, although we were only 45 minutes later than I said we'd be, there was no one on the premises to greet us upon our arrival and no instructions for finding a key. I called the assistant, and he came about 20 minutes later grumbling that we were supposed to be there at 5. I had revised the estimate to 6:30, and our host himself had said, based on what he knew of our starting point, that it would more likely be 7. But this information apparently was not communicated to the assistant.
A short while after the assistant let us in and departed, we discovered there were no linens on the premises, and none of the beds were made. We had no towels, sheets, or dishtowels of any kind. The assistant had to be called again, but he no longer had access to a car, apparently, and one of our party had to go pick him up twenty minutes away. When linens were delivered, we discovered we had bed linens, but only two bath towels to share between the four of us and no beach towels (so bring those; you'll need them).
The next day, we discovered that our keys did not open the main front door which had a closed gate/bars blocking access. The other door could not be used when anyone was cooking. The assistant was called again. He had no key. A key had to be sent from Buenos Aires. On our third or fourth day, the key was brought, and we were able to open this door.
Pablo was gracious and did all he could to help us from a distance, but it appears he needs to work on communicating better with his assistant.
Just as we were leaving, the assistant demanded "at least" 300 pesos for the cleaning and 400 for laundry. This was very uncomfortable. I told him it was customary for fees like these to be included in the price that I'd already paid. Pablo had to be called again. He spoke to his assistant, and we were permitted to leave.
In summary, the house is great, but bring your essentials. (I donated a coffee cone and filter as there was no way to make coffee.) The location is great, four short blocks from the beach. It's peaceful and beautiful. I sense Pablo is a good and caring host, but he needs better help from his assistant.
