We can highly recommend this place- the apartment is huge and comes with everything you need! A nice cafe is very close, some good warungs as well and also Ubud center is walkable (we had a Baby with us so motorbike was no option). Made and her family are just awesome- so nice, friendly and helpful! The contact was good also and if we had a request the answer came soon. We unfortunately had been sick a few days but nevertheless enjoyed our stay in the ricefields.
Great experience. Peaceful, clean, and a warmth from the host (and her family) that touched my heart. I would highly recommend this place for anyone wanting a soft landing in Ubud away from all the hustle and bustle of central Ubud but still wants to be in the prime location of Penestanan. (Everything is relatively close in Ubud anyway)
The guesthouse is situated in a very quiet area in the middle of ricefields, so the only thing you'll hear are crickets and frogs. The room is spacious and the bed superb, as in the pictures. It is very difficult to find it on your own, the neighbourhood doesn't know the name yet, so I did a lot of effort to find it. The easier way is to let Made arrange your transport -or maybe there can be some signs on the road to show you the way. Walking time to the centre of Ubud is 40-50 minutes.
Made (and her mother) were very kind and willing to help, so it was a pleasant stay.
What a wonderful place!
Actually this room is bigger than photos, cleaner than I expected, what's more the owner family---mom&dads and 3 daughters were all good for me! You cannot guess from this price, worth paying if you just stay back in the villa at all the time. There's no swimming pool, TV or iPod dock etc., but it's good just to stay outside terrace reading novels listening to nature sounds and watching beautiful wild blue birds flying and squirrels playing up and down on a tree.
Breakfast is also more than what I thought from the price (I was expecting only fruits and breads), fruits, whole-wheat bread, vege omelet and coffee/tea by 2nd daughter Komang.
The 1st daughter Made gave me rides for pickup and drop off to Naughty Nuri's by motorbike. She speaks excellent English and help your stay if it's weekend (she's still a student and busy if weekdays). I also asked her to take me to the batik factory, it was interesting to see how batiks are made.
The location is bit far from central Ubud, the same street as Four Season's, Gaya and Kayu Manis, but you can charter a car/ojek(motorbike taxi) if you ask them.
Scenery is only bushes and bamboos tho, if you prefer paddy field view, check out the other listing of them --- I already checked both. The other listing's newly built 2 month ago, very new and you can enjoy the scenery in the middle of the rice field and ducks singing. They have a small path way going to Central Ubud, it's good if you can ride motorbike by yourself.
Anyway, this villa will be my usual inn when I come up to Ubud. Thanks a lot, Batik Villa.
