I may best be described by a favorite cookie fortune: "You have enough energy and enthusiasm for two people."
A two-feet-on-the-ground Pollyanna, I am inherently optimistic and will go out of my way to find the good in a tough situation - not because I'm naive, but because I'm practical:
1. Attitudes are contagious, and why breed negativity?
2. Life's too short not to thoroughly enjoy it.
When I am the one traveling, I'll make an effort to find off-the-beaten-path sorts of places, and I prefer to avoid as many (other) tourists as possible, instead enjoying the search and discovery of thrift shops and local haunts and interesting folks and little treasures that will remind me later of time fondly spent. I'm likely to have a book along to pass any traveling time, and if I find myself near a beach, you may count on me to be looking earnestly for shells and agates...
I thoroughly enjoy the role of host, both at home and at the vintage shop I own and run just a few blocks from the house. We keep it pretty casual around here... the photos are more crisp/spare than the house is as a rule - though we do keep it looking pretty good most of the time. The home is shared with two relaxed, well-behaved senior pets: Red the cat is commonly referred to as 'human-like', and will sleep at the foot of your bed given the opportunity (yes, yours. Not mine.). And our girl, Nellie (aka Whoa Nellie!, a sweetheart of a hound/spaniel/lab rescue dog) wants nothing more than to curl up, dream and enjoy human affection.
If potential pet allergens aren't really your style when it comes to travel accommodations, we may or may not be a good fit for you.
I'm grateful to have the flexibility to be generally available to guests when needed, and to share the occasional glass of wine or requested recommendation. When you're here, I may or may not be around a whole lot (depends on what's up at the shop), but I'm usually just a stone's throw from the house.
Having lived downtown for over a decade before moving into the Longfellow neighborhood, I am well versed in (most) things Minneapolis: history, attractions, off-the-beaten-path-sort-of-stuff, public transportation, shopping options, night life, et cetera and so forth. Let me know what you need, I'll do what I can to be helpful... it's pretty much how I'm wired.
