I'm a technical writer from Tucson Arizona.
We stayed three nights as a base for the jewellery and gem fairs, and enjoyed the space and the neighbourhood.
The beds were comfortable and the kitchen and other living spaces cozy and homely.
As a first time visitor to Tucson it was great to be able to experience an interesting area and the fact that we were in walking distance of a number of bars and restaurants made the stay easy.
Wonderful centrally located house that exceeded all expectations! Plenty of space for three of us attending the annual gem shows. Beds comfy and warm, and nice light-excluding blinds on the windows for privacy and sleeping dark. Brenda left us a bottle of wine, a dish of candy, and everything else we needed in the way of paper goods, towels, etc was well stocked. When I asked about a hair dryer, she brought one over the same day. Having a washer/ dryer was a bonus! This was one of the top Airbnb rentals I've ever had. Hope I can return next year!
Our 4-night stay at Brenda's house was a great experience all the way around. She made us feel welcome and familiarized us with the house and history of the neighborhood. We loved the giant monkey statue in back (adopted from a local, now-gone putt putt golf course, the Magic Carpet) and finding the hidden monkey touches in the house, had lots of fun with the pinball machine (even though I lost repeatedly to my husband), and enjoyed walking/running in the neighborhood and looking at all the unique homes. Though just my husband and I were staying at Brenda's house, it could comfortably accommodate 4 people. The back bedroom where we slept was large and the bed very comfy. Skylights in the bathroom, kitchen and bedroom bring in lots of natural light. The back patio is large and we spent a lot of time there reading and soaking up the sun. The inside living space also is welcoming and comfortable. Parking was secure - you can put your car next to the house behind the gate. Brenda's house is in a great location - between 3/4 and one mile from downtown, the University area and the 4th Ave shopping district. Also just under a mile to the Santa Cruz River running/walking/biking trails. We loved our stay here and highly recommend Brenda's house!
The host was so helpful and made us feel welcome. The place is better than the photos! The patio was delightful. We had four people in our party and there was plenty of room and the place had everything we needed. The pinball machine was SO much fun! The neighborhood was great. The location is great and only a few easily walkable blocks to a great strip of restaurants, bars, and shopping.
The house has a gated drive way that can fit two medium size cars so there was no need to worry about parking. We had a great time!
The place is nicely located in Tucson, in a quiet aera. Close from everything you might need.
The garden/terraces is big, and the house as a good surface for two persons.
The pinball and the piano are nice.
Everything as been very good exept that one room was not finish yet, so second person had to sleep in a not very comfortable sofa, and many tools where in the garden.
But that's a temporary situation as they extend the house to be able to get more visitors in.
As I have to sometimes go to Tucson, I will probably use this house again.
Brenda is a helpful person if need.
And the price is ok.
Brenda and family made us feel most welcome during our stay. Her rental is a lovely, comfortable, and relaxing adobe house in a fun part of town. Perfect walking distance to many locations, as well as Tucson's new trolley system. These pictures only partially portray the true ambiance of this house. My son and I really enjoyed staying here and look forward to returning soon. We had a most positive experience!
This was a great place to stay! We picked it for the neighborhood, since my son lives nearby. We didn't really explore the neighborhood, but we did walk several times after dark and felt completely safe. I loved being in an adobe home. The thick walls and tile floors keep the house comfortable day and night, and feel good to live in. We made several meals in the kitchen, and enjoyed eating out on the back patio. The kitchen was well-stocked, and the antique gas stove was beautiful as well as functional.
The bedrooms and bathroom were nothing special, but were fine. The group spaces were what really made the house special... Nice kitchen, great living room space to hang out with plenty of chairs, fun pinball machine, and good outdoor space.
Brenda was flexible about our arrival time, she was there to greet us when we arrived around noon.
She walked us around the space and encouraged us to make ourselves at home.
Fantastic house & location! Highly recommended :)
Brenda's house located near the heart of downtown Tucson was an ideal getaway spot. I stayed here for a few nights while doing some business at the Pima West campus, and I really can't say enough. Brenda was attentive, available, and otherwise completely hands off (as it should be). The main living room is cool and relaxing with two large couches that are perfect to kick back on. Bathroom with full amenities provided. A kitchen fully stocked with pots, pans and silverware. Nice bedroom and double bed with closet space and ceiling fan. All of the essentials were there, with some other cool quirks that gave it a fun downtown Tucson vibe, such as a vintage pinball machine and a giant monkey statue in the backyard. It worked out so well, that I actually ended up extending my stay there. I wish I had known about it when family was coming to my graduation at the U of A, as it would have been a much better and more affordable option than the hotels near campus, especially considering its proximity to the University and other Tucson hot spots.
One of the previous reviews mentions that the kitchen wasn't fully stocked, the pillows weren't fluffy enough, and that it wouldn't be a good place to hold business meetings. The kitchen issue seems to have been rectified as it was fully stocked with every item I needed and then some, the pillows were great, and I'm not sure who would be renting this house advertised for leisure as a space to hold business meetings...
Very nice place overall, highly recommended.
Booking with Brenda was a breeze, and I loved the flexible check-in/ check-out time. The place was spacious, clean, and private. With a cozy outdoor patio, it would be a great place to host a barbeque or other small gathering. The heat worked well, and though I didn't end up using it, there is a wood stove option as well. Plenty of street parking was available and the neighborhood was quiet.
I would have given the experience a 5 star rating, were it not for the bedding, which was not what I would expect for the price I paid per evening. The whole bed should be replaced with a queen Eurotop, or at the very least the linens and pillows should be updated. I headed to Burlington Coat factory and bought a new set of pillows for $10, as the ones provided were quite flat and tired. If you are planning on any real cooking, you'll have to get your own pots and pans as she provides only one small pot and one small pan. Otherwise the kitchen had basically everything one would need (though you'll have to do your own grocery shopping).
While otherwise elegant in a southwestern style, the place has a few whimsical quirks, which may or may not be desirable. I wasn't bothered by them but if you're doing any high end entertaining (an uptight business party, for example) it might not be the best fit for you.
Nonetheless, it was overall a seamless experience. Brenda was available by phone if I should need anything, but completely unobtrusive. I didn't require anything while I was in her rental home, and I was looking for a "hands off" rental experience, which she provided. (I have read on some BnB reviews that the owner will stop by with a pie or the like, which I wasn't interested in).
Brenda did mention that it was her first time renting out the place, and I'm sure as time goes on she'll work out some of these issues and the place will be five star in no time!
