Staying with Max and Tracy's was the best choice. The location on the North Shore allowed for a perfect tropical paradise location. The cottage had a view of the ocean yet surrounded by lush landscape.
Sleeping at night with the cross winds and light rain was beautiful.
Being close to the little village and the road to Hana was great.
Max and Tracy left us ripe fruit and avocado and fresh flowers. They are perfect hosts. We said multiple times that we found the most perfect place to have our Maui get away.
This place was a home away from home, with an ocean view. It was easy to get to and in a great location for what we wanted to do. The place was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed from beach towels, to coolers, a boogie board, hair dryer, toaster oven, stove, and they had fresh fruit for us on the table when we got there. It was perfect for two people. Quiet at night including a nice ocean breeze. We would stay here again and again.
Max is a really awesome dude. Very energetic and helpful but also willing to give you your space and solitude as needed.
Be sure to venture into the fruit trees before you leave. If you're lucky, Max will notice you rummaging and give you the tour. Then take that fruit -- the lilikoi, tangeloes, bananas -- and juice them with his cast mexican juicer. Add half a glass of white wine with your juiced blend and enjoy it in your room with all the windows open and the Hawaiian breeze blowing at sunset.
The room is very clean and well put together. The windows face out towards the sea and in the morning, you sit up and see beautiful hues of green from the lawn up to the tropical brush, blues from the ocean into the sky. Sometimes, brown / black cows will be grazing in view.
We got a bit of rain here and there. But its welcomed when your a bit sweaty from the tropical climate.
Max suggested a great hike just down the street from him, off Oili road -- it leads to the Jaws lookout (and apparently other places too! we didn't venture that direction, but Max explained).
Buttercup, their lovely dog will slink around and his presence is welcomed and non-intrusive. Very cute doggy.
The location is great. Paia is about 10-15min by car. Go the other way and you're literally at the start of the adventure through the Hana Hwy -- we drove the whole thing! Its a half day experience, but worth it.
Thanks for everything! Loved our stay!
The studio is wonderful. It has a beautiful view over the landscape and the ocean. The pictures show it perfectly. The studio is clean and cosy. We stayed three weeks and it felt like home. Max and Tracy are awesome and very friendly hosts who take care of everything you need. Everyday you get some fresh fruits from the garden. Felt like living in paradise. Thank you Max and Tracy, we are coming back for sure!
Max and Tracy were a fantastic host! Instantly made us feel so very welcome. Fresh fruit on the table and a most welcoming little home. The property is located just off the Hana Hwy. it is quiet, beautiful, and definitely the "good side" of Maui. He the most gracious, fun host. We definitely want to come back and visit soon.
Was all fine here. One Tip: you should visit by day. Hawaii nights can be pretty dark.
We loved our stay at the house in Haiku, away from the traffic, resorts and surrounded by Maui's tropical, lush beauty! When we arrived, there were fresh fruit from the orchard and flowers on the table. We felt very welcomed. Indoor, outdoor towels, beach chairs and coolers were provided for our excursions. It was a great location. Right on the road to Hana, and close to Paia and Baldwin Beach! We listened to crickets and had a couple of thunder storms at night. If we ever come back to Maui, we hope we can stay here again!
This was our first visit to Maui and we were not sure where the most convenient location was to stay. We conducted extensive research on Airbnb to find lodging to suit our relaxed stay among the locals, well away from resorts preference. We decided on Max and Tracey's studio, and it was a perfect fit. Max made arrival effortless, and Buttercup (the family Labrador) greeted us when we arrived. Max and Tracey live on site, so you have the security of knowing if you experience a problem, they are there, but the place still feels very private. We enjoyed both sunsets and sunrises because of the high position of the property and the location of the studio on the property. That was a bonus. The location of the property is ideal if you plan to see all of Maui during your visit. We found it central to all of our excursions during our week-long stay. It is a bit of a drive from the west mountains, but worth the drive to return to a nest of solitude, absent of traffic, people congestion, and light pollution. It is much closer than driving to the resorts if you are returning from a drive along the Hana Highway. The studio was clean and very comfortable. They provide beach chairs, a cooler and plenty of towels, so all we needed for a day at the beach was sunscreen and rented gear for snorkeling or SUPing, which are abundant on the island. The kitchen is equipped with refrigerators and the basics which allowed us to prepare meals in and pack lunch for a day out. They also provide a washer and dryer, so you do not need to overpack for your trip just to have clean clothes every day. It is good to know we got it right our first trip to Maui, and would definitely stay with Max and Tracey again.
We really enjoyed our stay here! The location was great for us, having friends in the area, and also central access to the road to Hana and Kahului. The sunrise and ocean view is amazing here, the fresh oranges made the sweetest juice... super clean and exactly what we needed. Thanks Tracey and max! We'll keep this place in mind for the future, for sure.
We stayed at the house studio and we really liked it there. The studio is just right for 2 people and everything was clean and the bed was really comfy. We also enjoyed how leaving all windows open allowed us to sleep in a cooler place.
Tracey was very lovely- she helped us out with everything and left us some fresh fruits to enjoy.
