We're a Montreal/Brooklyn-based art-making couple. We love art, film, cooking and earnestness. We also love to laugh.
Brian and Mel were fantastic hosts. We stayed at their place for a whole month, and we couldn't have felt more at home. The apartment is clean, roomy, and has everything you could need. The location was just perfect--easy access to more restaurants than we had time to try and convenient to the train. We would happily stay again.
Mel and Brian are the perfect hosts. They are gracious and communicative. Their apartment is spacious, cozy and in a beautiful part of Park Slope. Everything is in walking distance. I've lived in NYC for almost 20 years and stayed here in between apartments. It made me fall in love with Park Slope...I'm discovering New York all over again!
This is a beautiful and well-furnished apartment. We really enjoyed staying there. The location is also very good -- right in the heart of Park Slope, close to great restaurants, bars, parks and shops. The R subway is about a five minute walk. Brian and Mel are wonderful hosts.
Melanie and Brian are ideal hosts! They were very helpful from the beginning, even on simply how to use Airbnb. The apartment was clean and organized on arrival, and they even left a gift in the fridge for us. They checked in by email occasionally to make sure their instructions on appliances and the neighborhood were clear, but were not at all intrusive. I couldn't have asked for better hosts! They clearly know how to run a "BnB" service! Highly recommended.
The reservation was canceled 59 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Mel and Brian have a beautiful apartment in the heart of Park Slope. It's just blocks from Prospect Park and even closer to the subway to take you anywhere else you'd like to go in the city. The apartment is so spacious and pretty. As for Mel and Brian, they were great. Couldn't be more accommodating and kind. I'd love to stay there again if ever our schedules aligned.
We stayed at Mel and Brian's place for four months, from March to July 2012. Our stay was incredibly peaceful. The apartment is spacious and light filled. It is well represented in the AirBnB description. The neighborhood is charming, with all of Park Slope's amenities around the corner. There are some great coffee shops and restaurants on 5th Ave. and Prospect Park is only a ten-minute walk away. Mel and Brian were great hosts and responded to all queries immediately.
The only drawback with the place is something entirely out of Mel and Brian's control--that is the R train. While Manhattan is easily accessible from Park Slope, the closest subway line in this part of the neighborhood is the R train, which is notoriously inconsistent. That said, if you are ready for the minor train inconvenience, there are few more warm and welcoming places or neighborhoods in New York.
We moved out of our old place and needed a place to stay before we could move into our new home. We figured we'd just make do for a month and sublet a place nearby just a place to sleep, but it turns out that we found ourselves right at home. The place is very comforting, clean, and homey. It helps that we have similar tastes, but it's also because Melanie and Brian are also very welcoming.
The location is right near many great restaurants and shops. We have a new favorite restaurant called Al Di La. And public transportation, while not at your doorstep, is close by and runs on schedule for the most part.
Brian and Mel were very nice and attentive. Their dog Pixel very well-behaved. It was a pleasure having them home. Come back any time!
A very nice couple from New York; they took good good care of the room and house; full of live and happy with the live they were living; I hope lots of people will see their films!
I really appreciate to have Brian and Mel in my chalet in the Laurentides. They were effective on the communication... They ask questions just to be sure about things that they don't know. They left the house in the exact way that I was expecting... It will be a pleasure to have them back.
