Cheryl and Roger live in Sonoma and make jewelry for a living.
Roger was very accommodating. He met us at the property, showed us the house and left quite a few wine tasting coupons and recommendations for us to use. The house is well stocked with towels, condiments and other necessities. Would definitely stay here again.
This home is in a great location and has a beautiful view. Roger is very friendly and welcoming. The cabin has a charming decor and is an excellent place to stay if you are visiting the Sonoma/Napa area.
Roger was a fantastic host, especially when he invited us out to the local bar to hear music. The house has a great outdoor space and the hot tub was a fantastic kicker with the cool nights.
As advertised, this property overlooked Sonoma. The hot tub on the upper deck was indeed hot and provided a great view into the valley. Hummingbirds darted all around and I found a great book on them in Roger's library. The master bath featured a huge tub and had double shower heads.
The location of the property is just a couple of miles from downtown Sonoma, which is only about 10 miles from Napa. It's also within 2 miles proximity of 3 wineries.
Roger met us promptly and showed us the property. One thing we noted right off is that there were some areas of the house that were not as clean as we would have liked.
Overall, the property was average for this area.
Roger's house is in a superb location with stunning views overlooking Sonoma. The hot tub with a glass of wine is the perfect way to end a day exploring the local wines!
Roger was extremely helpful throughout the process and was very welcoming when we arrived and gave us plenty of good tips and contacts for exploring. There were also some nice touches like a bottle of wine, and vouchers for reduced price tastings in some of the nearby wineries.
Sonoma is a beautiful town with some great restaurants (check out Harvest Moon Cafe and LaSalette) and a few great evening hangouts (Murphy's was our favourite). Of course, what Sonoma is really great for is a jumping off point for sampling delicious wines in the valley and beyond. Of course you know that already, their reputation is global, but do check out Little Vineyards, Gundlach-Bundschu (just down the road) and Landmark Estates, or go further afield and go crazy in Russian River or Dry Creek valleys where the reds are sublime. I also recommend a visit to one of the nearby redwood forests.
Roger's place is perfect for one or two couples, or a couple with a child. Final piece of advice, Roger's house is up a steep hill so give it plenty of gas as you head up!
The house is large, eclectic, and wonderfully located! First off, the view was staggering and about 90% of why I picked this location. I was not disappointed. The house was more than enough space for 2 couples and our little doggie (who loved the place as well). Roger was an attentive host. The hot tub was perfect and everything we could have wanted (imagine sipping your favorite wine under the stars soaking in bubbly water). Lastly, this house is within easy walking distance of Gundlach Bundschu winery! Simply perfect! Thanks again Roger!
Roger was a friendly and informative host.
The home and location were fantastic.
This house is in a great location and has spectacular views and corresponding sunsets. Roger has the home stocked with everything you could need. He made it quite convenient to get the key, and made time to show us around. We were very comfortable here for a four day break with our 20-something children.
The view was amazing
Wonderful location with terrific views and only 5 minutes drive from Sonoma Plaza. A little bit tired, but works really well. Roger is lovely and very helpful.
