I stayed in Shin's lovely flat with my parents for 6 nights. The flat was really clean, warm and comfy, also very well located. It was nicely decorated, fully equipped, and there are many travel books about Istanbul & Turkey.
I can't thank Shin & Arda enough for their hospitality and responsiveness. Because of an incident my parents arrived earlier in Istanbul. Shin picked them up in the bus station, he refused when my parents wanted to pay the taxi instead he paid for it, and bought them some food for the night. I arrived later after midnight with Shin/Arda's guidance and they made sure I arrived home safely. They also let a friend of mine who were unable to check in at his host place, to stay for the night.
Thank you again for everything Shin & Arda! Hopefully the next time I visit Istanbul you would be willing to host me again.
I stayed in Shin’s flat from mid-Jan to mid-Feb and much enjoyed its proximity to thriving Istiklal St. for restaurants, pubs, shopping, and public transport. It’s on the Bosphorus side of Istiklal, about 100 meters down fairly steep Kumbaraci St., on the corner of Tercuman. The living space and bedroom (comfortable mattress) are spacious, with adequate storage. The kitchen and bathroom are small but serviceable. The heating system kept the flat comfortably warm during my winter visit.
WiFi is reliable and reasonably fast, and the flat-screen TV carries several English-language channels (news/finance & movies). The surrounding area is quiet, making for restful sleep. The price was most reasonable considering the central location and amenities. Shin and Arda are responsive hosts who are keen to make visitors feel at home.
Transport hint: The Istanbulkart provided by Shin is real plus and essential to getting around. If you’re heading to Old Town and the many attractions there, rather than walk up Kumbaraci to the Tunel Metro, head downhill instead. A 5-minute walk will connect you to the Tophane T1 tram stop for the short trip across the Golden Horn. Taking the T1 in the opposite direction to the Kabatas stop drops you right at the ferry terminal for Princes’ Islands. Dolmabahce Palace is just a short walk north up the Bosphorous from the tram stop.
A perfect apartment in a perfect (email hidden)ose to all the action on Istiklal, but on a quiet, hidden side street. Easy to get to the old city from the apartment. The apartment has everything you might need!
But the best part about it is the hosts. Arda was there, since Shinnosuke was gone for the holidays. Not only did he meet me, help me get settled in, and give me great advice about my trip, but he was also kind, hospitable, helpful, friendly, and great fun to hang out with. What a great guy.
When I come back to Istanbul (and I will), I will definitely use this place again!
Shin is a great host and has a great place in a perfectly central, yet quiet, area in Taksim/Galata. Before we arrived he offered to pick us up from the Havatas station and when I got to the apartment, everything was perfectly organised. He even gave us a charged Istanbulkart to use public transport and forgave me for not giving it back in the end when I realised it was still in my wallet upon my return to the UK. To round up the positive experience, Shin was perfectly flexible regarding the check-in and check-out time. The apartment itself is absolutely lovely and perfect for 2-3 people. I'd definitely return here when I come back to Istanbul.
great location & a very nice & helpful host. thanks alot, shin!
My Family and I had great time at Shin'house.
It was very comfortable, very central and close to everything.
Shin was also available and very helpful!
Great experience, we will miss the place :)
Great location. The owner/manager was very helpful and also very accommodating of my late night arrival. Flat is right next to the main thoroughfare, but just far enough away that it is quiet. The big bedroom has a double bed, the smaller bedroom a smaller bed. No air conditioning, but lots of windows and fans so wan't a problem.
it was a really great stay actually, really close to Istiklal street, a 200 feet walking distance. I never met Shinnosuke actually, but were communicating via phone, he is a real respectable guy, and speaks really good english too. I found the apartment to be an exquisite place for a couple, really nicely designed, furnished and in a quiet neighborhood, and the bed to be really comfy. I really would like to thank Shinnosuke for it, it was a good catch.
This flat was perfect for my stay in Istanbul. Located near the bottom end of Istiklal Street, it was a kilometre away from Taksim Square and a five minute walk to the tramway that takes you easily into the historical centre. The flat itself was very clean.
Shin was the ideal host. He met me at the bus stop once I got in from the airport and we walked to the flat together. Once I settled in, he took the time to show me the main sites on a map. He also provided me with a transport card with 10TL already on it, which was valid on all buses, trams and trains - a nice touch.
Shin was also available to answer any questions I had.
It was lovely staying here as opposed to a big hotel and I highly recommend this flat to any visitor to amazing Istanbul.
Shin is a great host and was very helpful in getting us settled into his flat. The flat was very clean and comfortable and in a great location enabling it to be a great place to relax after spending the day out in Istanbul. This was my first airbnb experience and was so good that a hotel will never be my first choice again.
Shinnosuke already lives in Istanbul and not a tourist but he stayed at my flat since his flat was rented in that times. His flat is also around my flat. He left the flat clean and tidy.
