I'm a professor of American Studies and a professional artist who loves to explore new places, meet new people and I'm a great, caring guest and host, too!
My friends and I came to visit Pittsburgh for the first time. Kimberly's apartment the perfect place for us to stay. It was within a five minute walk to the downtown bus, had off street parking, and tons of privacy. It was nice to rent a house with a full kitchen and she went out of her way to accommodate us. She also gave great suggestions for places to eat and activities. I completely recommend this place for anyone looking to stay in Pittsburgh.
We couldn't have asked for an easier or more pleasant experience!!
This house worked well for our family on a trip to Pittsburgh for a family wedding. Our young children had a lot more space to play than a hotel room and a chance to visit with other relatives in a relaxed setting. The kitchen was well equipped for basic cooking. The house was comfortable and pleasant, but not overdone or full of breakables that would have made me nervous with the kids. We weren't aware that there was no internet (temporarily down) or TV service (just available for videos) - but that was our error with not reading the description carefully and being new to airbnb. The location is very convenient for downtown. The neighborhood suffers the effects of Pittsburgh's dramatic population decline and isn't the cleanest, but this wasn't problematic and everyone we met was friendly. The backyard wasn't conducive to playing in (and had a very steep drop off), but the gated front yard was fine and helpful with a toddler. The street is very quiet. Kimberly was very quick to respond to questions when we were arranging to stay at the place. She is very pleasant and friendly to work with.
Winter-y Pittsburgh was a blast! We took in a Steelers game (and will be back for more), explored the city, despite the freezing temperatures, loved the Andy Warhol Museum and 'The Strip' and sampled much of the fine micro-brew on offer.
We were a group of 6, which, in Kimberly's place, was cozy, but do-able. We brought an air mattress and had plenty of space in the main room. Plenty of towels, bedding, etc was provided.
Kimberly's home is in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to a bus that takes you right downtown (bus stop is a brief 5 minute walk away). Groceries, etc was a 15 minute car ride. Of importance to those with limited mobility: this home is in the Hill District and it is more than aptly named The walk to the bus involves a steep hill, which is totally fine for those without any challenges, but for older folks or those with limited mobility, it is something to think about.
Kimberly was a thoughtful host and we will definitely be back to Pittsburgh - perhaps in warmer weather!
Kimberly was very welcoming upon arrival, and made sure we had everything we needed. She was great about giving directions, and even offered to take me when I was unsure of a location. When a minor problem happened with the dryer, she even volunteered to take my laundry. All in all Kimberly is an exceptional host - there if you need her, and responsive to any and all needs.
My colleagues and I needed housing for a conference we attended in Pittsburgh, and Kimberly's house worked out perfectly—and helped us to save money! We especially enjoyed the quiet location, which was surprisingly close to downtown (less than 10 minutes!). The house is spacious, with all the essential amenities including kitchen supplies, towels, bedding, and wi-fi. When we had a plumbing issue, Kimberly responded immediately and sent someone over to fix the problem, which we felt was amazing service! I would definitely stay here again the next time I'm in Pittsburgh, and I would highly recommend it to my friends.
I needed last minute housing and Kimberly was there to help. She got us in quickly and easily. The place itself was just what we needed, clean, well supplied, and located close to downtown. It felt like a true guesthouse, not someone's home all filled with personal items, which I REALLY appriciated! Thanks Kimberly.
Kimberly's home was close to town, had all the essentials for a stay, and the bedrooms were comfy! The home is used solely for hosting visitors, which makes it more like a hotel than other AirBnB locations. Kimberly was a responsive host and was clear with us on all aspects of the lodging experience. It was a great place for us to base our short stay in Pittsburgh. Highly recommended!
We appreciated the quietness, convenience, and comfort of this place and the consideration of the host in providing for the welfare of her guests and their basic needs. I love the country feel so close to the city.
Upon entering the house for the first time, it was less than we expected for the money we were spending. But having stayed at Kimberly's for a month, we grew to appreciate our Pittsburgh experience, and to enjoy the neighborhood and its lovely walks to the reservoir. At first, the W/D water hookups were switched, and the wifi was down after a storm. But Kimberly had these remedied in good time. She also accompanied us on a driving tour through the neighborhood and larger University of Pittsburgh area, giving us a local's insight into the scene.
A couple of items that were problematic to us, but may not be so for everyone: there was no TV, the heating system had a high-pitched whine in the living room, there is no yard or lawn around the house.
Due to it's somewhat hidden location on a tiny back street, this place offered amazing quiet, with only the distant sound of a train whistle at night and beautiful spring bird calls in the morning. Proximity to U. Pitt was so convenient. Kimberly is obviously striving to make her place as comfortable as possible.
