My husband Ben and I have four children, and a friendly Portuguese water dog. We love this neighborhood, especially the park and the restaurants!

We received very prompt e-mail responses from our host every time we sent one of our own notes. The setting was accurately described and was even better- ambiance, spaciousness and comfort- than we expected. The neighborhood was familiar to me since my son lives nearby. It is a safe and congenial family neighborhood. Many appealing features of the neighborhood include: nearby parks, restaurants and shopping.
All host family members were affable and pleasing. Atmosphere surrounding this home was very good. When we walked to subway station, people around there gave us greetings.
Our family (four of us) spent four nights at Jean and Ben's apartment in Brooklyn over Easter. It is a lovely old house, with an impressive "stoop"---a new word for us Brits---and lots of handsome period features. Inside, it is furnished comfortably, and one of us used the blow-up bed, which was (I'm told) very comfortable. It's about a ten minute walk to Union Square station, which is on the "R' line, and from there, about 20 minutes into mid-town Manhattan.
The whole neighbourhood felt very pleasant and safe, and there are some good looking restaurants very near, which we didn't have time to investigate. We found it hard to find any decent food shops though, but perhaps we just didn't look hard enough.
All in all, I would highly recommend this. It's a lovely place, and although a bit of a hike from Manhattan, it's quite nice to be away from there after a day of sight-seeing. Jean and Ben were excellent and thoughtful hosts, and Ben solved our (minor) plumbing problem very speedily.
The apartment is exactly as shown in the photos, it's very nice, cozy and clean. It's located in the very nice Park Slope, with loads of restaurants and bars around the corner. Although it's in the middle of a city it's very quiet.
Jean and Ben are very nice and helpful hosts (welcoming us with freshly baked bagels and homemade cookies), and easy to communicate with. Also flexible regarding checking in and out.
It was a perfect place for us during our week in New York and we can highly recommend a stay here!
Jean and Ben were very welcoming. The apartment is ideal for a visiting family. There were very few personal items around so the space seemed just as much ours as it did theirs. The fact that there was no T.V. in the house was an added bonus. The environment was very conducive to bringing the family back together, not to mention stunningly gorgeous.
We could not have asked for nicer place to stay. Centrally located, so close to Prospect Park and Barclays Center, and a safe, comfortable neighborhood. There was plenty of room for my wife, fourteen year old daughter (who somehow takes up a lot of space) and me to spread out. All of the comforts of home PLUS wonderful welcoming cookies and bagels from the sweetest owners in Brooklyn. We can't wait to stay again in the summer when we can hang on the stoops with the neighboors.
Our stay in Jean and Ben's Brooklyn apartment was lovely and we couldn't have asked for anything more. The apartment was warm, comfortable, clean and filled with natural light. Jean and Ben are extremely thoughtful in what they provide for guests and were incredibly gracious hosts to my near 1-year old providing a pack-n-play and all sorts of toys. Our trip coincided with a big snow storm which we were able to enjoy/appreciate from the apartment's beautiful bay windows. We will surely return and hope to stay again.
We stayed in Jean and Ben's third floor apartment for six nights. The apartment is located right in the middle of Park Slope so you can walk to everything. Jean is an excellent communicator. If you have questions they will be answered; if you don't that is fine also. There were bagels, cream cheese, and cookies when we arrived. The apartment is extremely quiet and clean. Everything is really as described and as pictured. We were there during really cold weather and apartment was well heated.

This is a great location and a great apartment. Jean and Ben were fantastic hosts and thought of everything, and were also more than happy to help us out when we needed things at the last minute (extra blankets etc). We loved staying here and hope to come back someday!
Thanks again Jean and Ben!
My 20 year old daughter and I had a wonderful stay in Jean's apartment. Everything was as described and more! Jean was out of town on our arrival day but had a friend greet us and give us very helpful tips for exploring NYC. We were delighted with the bagels and delicious cookies on the table, milk and cream cheese in the frig, coffee and tea in the cupboard. The apartment was well supplied, clean and very comfortable. Jean responded quickly to our inquiries before and during our stay with very helpful information. We felt very safe on the 10 minute walk to and from the subway, even late at night. It's a lovely neighborhood.
Thank you, Adele. Ben and I both enjoyed meeting you and Lisa and hope to see you back in Park Slope someday. Happy 2016!
It was a pleasure to host Jean's husband and daughter. They were both friendly, communicative and appreciative of our efforts. Jean's daughter was especially sweet with our dog, Austin and they became fast friends. We would welcome Jean's family to come back any time, and we can highly recommend them as excellent Airbnb guests.
Jean's husband was a great guest. He was very clean and respectful. He took care of our place pretty well. Would love to host him again is his next visit.
