I am CD Collins, owner of The Savannah Retreat. I am writer who divides my time between Kentucky and Massachusetts. I have spent the last five years restoring my beautiful Victorian farmhouse so I and guests may enjoy a quiet, beautiful retreat.
I have devoted my life to my writing and to pursuing social justice.
Although I will not be in town during your visit, your host and Innkeeper, Stephen, will look after you. You may also call my cell phone at any time.
My house reflects my values, a love of nature, books, and the knowledge that respecting each other and the natural world is the key to a good life. I want you to rest, relax, create and truly enjoy this farmhouse, both rustic and luxurious.
My name is Stephen, and I live in the house year-(website hidden) and I have been friends since we were teenagers, and when she asked me to stay here, I jumped at the chance. It's a beautiful place, solitary but near neighbors and town, and it is quiet, peaceful, and very relaxing. Since moving here, my daily stress is almost gone.
I also share CD's passion for the restoration and the charm of this place. Right now I am working on building a waterfall rock garden at the back entrance, and gradually restoring some of the furnishings. There are plans also for planting some Niagara grape arbors along the fence row bordering the yard. In the spring, we'll plant a larger garden with culinary herbs (I am a chef), vegetables, and wildflowers to attract bees and butterflies. Also in the plans is the planting of a 70-tree fruit orchard in the meadow on the other side of the fence. The first work there was the felling of trees to get rid of invasive species of plants, restoring the area to pristine virginity. That work is almost complete.
When you stay here, I'll be your host, guide, and the one who will see to your needs.
