I'm a radio presenter with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, our national public broadcaster. I host a long form interview programme called 'Conversations with Richard Fidler'. My guests are authors, astronauts, carers, scientists, explorers and extraordinary people who are unknown to the public at large.
I live in Brisbane, Australia with my wife, two kids and two cats. My job requires me to read voluminously and widely, which is just as well since I'm an unabashed history nerd.
Years ago I used to be in a successful comedy trio that performed all over the world. SInce then I've worked as a TV presenter in Australia, but I'm much happier in radio, where the distance between idea and execution is much shorter.
Outside of all that I also serve as the president of the Institute of Modern Art, a contemporary art space in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley.
This year I was awarded a Churchill Fellowship which will take me to Britain and the USA for 5 weeks to visit BBC and NPR programs in London & New York.
