There were some misunderstanding between Lisa and her roommate, but she was really nice that she lent us her own room. She also showed us around the house and the neighborhood, which definitely gave us much help. The place is warm and cozy. It's full of artsy atmosphere. The apt is next to a bus station. So if don't mind about transporting using different public transportations, it's indeed convenient. There r many nice restaurants nearby and also in downtown Brooklyn. Overall, it was a pretty enjoyable time there.
Lisa was very kind and everything was in order. Her place is pretty cool, nice decor. The room was as expected, although one of my roommates got allergies from something in the room, probably dust. The neighborhood was pretty good too, although kind of far from Manhattan.
Lisa is the kindest host and made our stay in New York very pleasant; we stayed in NY with a group of friends to celebrate new years eve. The apartment is located in a nice part of Brooklyn with cute shops and coffee bars nearby. We shared the large room with 4 people and this was very convenient.
Arrived before Storm Sandy, Lisa was away visiting her family in California but her friend Anne was there looking after her dogs and she made me fell very welcome. During the storm Lisa was very concerned for our safety and checked in regularly. In fact during the storm nothing happened in the flat, We never lost electricity, or water and there was no flooding. One thing is for sure it was a great place to come if there is another storm. Lisa can add a premium for the safety of her place. Overall the room is huge, bed comfortable and the whole place has a warm and a feeling of a home with good memories. Would recommend the place to anyone that likes to feel comfortable. Unfortunately I never met Lisa but from her emails during the time to check on both my and Anne's situation I could tell she has a genuine warm personality. Further if it is Anne you meet she is a good laugh and also very caring. I will stay there again.
My main criteria for these reviews are: 1) Did the place meet my expectations from the ad, and 2) Did I like my host and find communication and logistics easy to deal with. Lisa and her place were a winner = 5 stars.
1) Her apartment is what I would call a bit 'bohemian'. I was totally comfortable with that, but it felt more like a hostel than a B&B: except that I loved having my own big room to myself. Also, the best way to get to Manhattan means a short bus trip to the subway (which accepts the transfer on your metro card)... this could be considered somewhat inconvenient, but I had no problem with it. I liked the neighborhood a lot: it's a bit less 'gentrified' than something like Park Slope... so it just depends on your tastes.
2) Lisa was great, and that can make a stay for me even more than the accommodations. Even from our first communications I had a good feeling about it, and we got along great. Lisa was super accommodating, friendly, helpful and interesting too.
I spent two memorable weeks here and would definitely come back again.
I was looking high & low for affordable accommodation for my parents & brother while they were visiting me in NY and Lady Luck must have been smiling upon me since I discovered Lisa's place a few blocks away from my apartment! She is prompt at responding to messages, extremely accommodating, and has a good heart - when my mom fell ill, Lisa gave her some medication. Thanks, Lisa! I really want to watch some of the documentaries she's produced!
Lisa is a funny and beautiful person. Her genuine kindness, warmth and patience really made my stay unforgettable and funny.
She introduced us to her friends and was also an amazing neighbor's guide.
No doubt in my next stay in williamsburgh!
Fantastic appartment! We stayed at Lisa's appartment on new years eve and had a great, comfortable night there. Lisa's wasn't in town so her friend hosted us, and she was exceptionally helpful and on hand to answer any questions we had. The appartment was big, clean and had everything we needed for out stay. The location was the only slight problem, with the walk to the subway station to Manhattan a little long (15 mins). But apart from that it was very cool to be stay in Brooklyn. All in all, highly recommended!
very nice environment. lisa is a great host
Lisa was very helpful and welcoming — especially when I accidentally locked myself out of the room! It was a great place to stay while I was in Brooklyn. The subway is a small walk away (0.5miles away) but there are some great shops in the neighborhood (I particularly liked Pillow Cafe for their combination of wifi and great food). The place isn't that soundproof so I'd recommend bringing earplugs if you're sensitive to noise. Also, the kitchen/bathroom weren't the cleanest so FYI if that is an issue to some people. Otherwise, thanks to Lisa for letting me stay!
Lisa was the best guest i could wish for. I have found a friend for life in her. She's independent, social, jolly and has a great personality. We had lots of fun together.
It was a real pleasure to host Lisa. I highly recommend this guest and would love to have her back any time. Thanks for all..
