I retired in 1995 and moved to Ajijic, Jalisco Mexico. I enjoy helping people finding out if living in Mexico is for them.

Skip was very talkative about living in Mexico. The gardens were magnificent. The room was as pictured. Location was an easy walk to town. It was cold and rainy while we were there so we could not enjoy the beautiful outside living area as much as we would have liked to. Overall a nice stay.
This was our 2nd trip to Ajijic and stay at Angel Flores. We adore the gardens and the ambiance felt by staying in such a natural setting. We enjoyed also being able to cook in his outdoor kitchen (imagine having your kitchen with a tree in it) and to be able to sit either in the outdoor dining area or living room. This was absolutely the most special part of it all. Our host Skip has now become our friend. He is a gentleman, and oh, so very well informed. There is nothing about Ajijic that Skip cannot tell you about.. A great host, a wonderful oasis..we will be back again!
Skip is a fantastic host. He is welcoming and very available and helpful. Our rooms were immaculate and exactly as pictured and described. A big plus is he has the tap water purified in each of the rooms so you can drink it. I would recommend Angel Flores Guest House to anyone who comes to Ajijic.
Skip was a wonderful host! He gave very helpful advice on just about everything we would need to know in Ajijic. The rooms were clean, the social living area was lovely, and the other guest at Angel Flores Guest House were delightful. We would highly recommend staying here. And when we go back to Ajijic, we plan to visit Skip, our new friend in Ajijic.
Skip is a very accommodating host. I was on the road and it was easy for us to communicate plans by phone regarding the time of arrival, which was a bit late. There is gated private parking, which is always welcome because it is possible to leave a lot of things in the car rather than having to unload everything. The gardens are spectacular! It's like stepping into a secret garden from a fairy tale. All of our needs were anticipated. There is a fully equipped outdoor kitchen with coffee makers, TV, internet, and the bed in the king room where we stayed was super comfortable. Everything was clean and there were fresh towels. Skip is a delight to talk with. I could have listened to his stories all day and night. Since I am looking for a place to retire, his knowledge about the area is invaluable.
I was in Ajijic checking it out as a potential location for early retirement, and to get away from the dark and gloomy Seattle winter for a few days. Skip was away on vacation when I was there, and his guest house was being run by a friend of his (Steve) while he was away. But Skip's not being there means nothing as far as the fact that I had a great stay goes. Steve was accommodating and friendly, and was an encyclopedia of knowledge about the Chapala area, and about people and activities, and a very worldly person in general. The house is as pictured, the gardens are beautiful, and the location is right near the center of Ajijic, just a few hundred yards from the Plaza. The patio on the roof of the guest house offers an excellent view of both the local neighborhood and over the town in general. It was nice to go up there during sunrise and sunset. It is a safe place - I left my door to my room unlocked the entire time I was there (but don't leave it open, or Skip's dogs might roam in - they are happy, non-threatening pups, but they do have a tendency to leave deposits around the grounds, so to speak). In any case, this is a place I would definitely recommend to family or friends visiting Ajijic.
Frank I'm sorry that I didn't get to meet you. Steve said you were a wonderful guest. I would love for you to return for another visit anytime. Skip
Skip was a great host. His place was very nice, with beautiful gardens and a nice view of the área.
Skip was a wonderful and welcoming host with tons of information about the area and Mexico in general. He is well connected with the ex-pat community and is very knowledgeable about the process of moving to Mexico. He was very nice as were all of the other guests we met.
We liked the very nice open courtyard style of the house, it was beautiful! The friendly dogs barked very loudly every time we entered and left the gate, so don't be startled.
The only drawback was the lack of hot water. We asked Skip about it, and he told us the trick of turning the shower on and off a few times. We got one tepid shower, but after that there was no more hot water.
What a perfect and lovely place to begin a journey to move to the area. So much beauty and areas for conversations and yet maximum privacy with a private bath and patio. Skip was a wonderful resource for so many things. I would recommend this to anyone. We loved the dogs and that it was a dog friendly area. Can't say enough good things about it. Awesome!
My husband and I were in Ajijic for a week in March for dental work (many good dentists in the area). We found Angel Flores through AirBnB (somehow I must have missed it when checking tripadvisor). It's a great place to stay! The rooms are basic and very clean. The mattress was a bit too firm for my liking, but my husband liked it. We spent little time in our room. The garden surrounding the compound is gorgeous. There are covered outdoor rooms, surrounded by gardens - a kitchen, dining room, living room. The outdoor rooms facilitate fun get-togethers with others staying there (we had a great Oscar party!) My husband and I would make some coffee, and sometimes breakfast, and climb to one of two high patios to watch the sunrise. Skip was very helpful with any questions about the area -- I had even taken his advice on a dentist, Dr. Edgard Macias (he was great!) Skip also had great suggestions for restaurants -- I'll be writing a review on one we loved -- Richie's 88, just a couple of blocks away near the town square. We had a great time and would definitely stay at Angel Flores Guest House again!
