I stayed in Bella's room and it's so nice. The room is decorated gorgeously and the bed is super soothing (I fell into sleep without knowing). I got a welcome note, a booklet with map in it and a guidebook which explains everything. Not far from the city centre, and a 15 minutes walk to the train station. Would definitely recommend it to everybody. One funny thing: I brought some sunflowers there and someone living there put them in the case without removing the package. Lol
This was my first airbnb experience and it was excellent. First of all, Jelle is very nice and approachable, his hospitality and informative introduction of the city helped me explore better.
The house was spacious and my room was clean, lovely, quiet and I can see the city wall right through the window.
The location is also very convenient. It's easy to find and just 10 minute walk from the railway station. It's also close to city wall, Clifford tower, castle museum, literally 2 minute away from these attractions, so I ended up visiting almost all the attractions in one day.
Jelle allowed me to leave my luggage in the living room and picked up later in the evening, which was super helpful for me.
In all, if you are looking for a place to stay to explore York. This is definitely your top choices!
Very handy for town, close to medieval walls that encircle York, Ouse riverfront, and "Bishy Road" shops. Jelle is a good host, friendly and interesting.
Jelle's place is in a quiet neighbourhood well within walking distance of anything you'll want to see in York. The room is bright and comfortable. More importantly, Jelle is very friendly, always available (he even leaves an iPod for FaceTiming him if you need), and a pleasure to know! He offers a lot of useful little things that made the experience much more pleasant (tickets to the Minster, discount card, etc.)
With my friends, we really enjoyed our stay. Our room was lovely, clean and we really felt at home. The house is very well-situated, inside the Roman walls and 15 min by walk to the center. I would highly recommend this offer to people who look for a quiet "pied-à-terre" in a full of charm house. Jelle looks after his guests and take over of every detail (tea/coffee/biscuits + brochures in the room).
Second time at Jelle's place. I was moved rooms but everything was fine and still a great location for York. Cheers again Jelle
I was made very welcome by Jelle and I very much enjoyed my stay at his house. The room was quiet with a good bed. The company of the host and other guest was very friendly. The house is ideally located close to the city centre of York.
Great location. Room comfortable. Old York in walking dinstance. Parking with visitor permit in front of the house. No personal contact (it was a pity) to Jelle but warm welcome via social media.Communication and instructions flawless. In any case I would come again.
Thank you very much, Jelle! It was my first airbnb experience. I am a believer now.
A quiet comfortable clean room as described. A few minutes walk away from the city centre. Would stay again.
This was my first airbnb experience and I am genuinely pleased with my stay at Jelle's place in York. The accommodation is as described, quiet and cosy. We had the window open all night and were amazed at how quiet it was even considering the proximity to the hustle and bustle York's city centre.
You can walk to York minster in around 10mins and most of the attractions are near there.
Bedroom and bathroom were clean and acceptable to me and my girlfriend.
Parking was easy as there are a lot of spaces outside the house. Jelle left clear instructions as to how to complete the permit.
Jelle stayed for 2 nights with us to meet family here in the Netherlands. It's a nice guy with whom it was interesting to talk about his Dutch background and the fact that he is also a host (in York, England). Recommendable, supposing he's as good a host as a guest. And why not.
jelle booked for phil who was in york for work purposes.Phil is a lovely warm and charming man and it was interesting to meet him he is very hard working and motivated
Jelle and his 8 year old daughter Belle, were our very first airbnb guests! They had booked on the first night we had registered! We couldn't have had better guests! Jelle is very relaxed and easy going and bella is a very sweet well behaved girl. Jelle was very clear in his email about the purpose of his trip and their itinerary, which gave me a good feeling of trust. When they got back from dinner we had a really nice chat with a nice cup of fresh mint tea. They where also very easy to please with breakfast, they where just hanging out for a traditional Dutch sandwich topping, 'Hagelslag' (chocolate sprinkles) Luckily we had just stocked up on it! We would gladly have them stay again!
Jelle and little Bella were great guests. The communication before and during the stay was clear. They were very respectful to the house and clean and tidy.
