Jelle is a super nice host. I watched a couple of World Cup games with him in the evenings. The location directly across from the wall was excellent. Was able to see it from our bedroom window. Was only a 15 minute walk to York Minster. 3 of us in Bella's room was tight but manageable. Breakfast provided was cereal, fruit, yogurt, toast and bagels. Would stay here again. Good communication from Jelle.
Nice area and very easy to walk to York city centre and railway station. Facility slightly basic but the stay was really convenient.
This was a great place to stay. The house is very central and the room (I stayed in Bella's room) is large and light. Great views of the medieval wall out the window. Jelle was friendly and helpful but mainly left me to myself which suited me. Breakfast was provided and there was heaps of info about York in my room. I would definitely stay here again.
We really enjoyed our visit to York. Jelle's home is convenient to the train and to the city center. The bedroom is right at the corner of the city wall, which leads to a great view!
Jelle was a very kind host. We only stayed one night and were immediately welcomed by Jelle, who showed us our room, carried our bag up the stairs, and gave us restaurant recommendations. The room was quiet, clean, and fairly large by comparison to hotel standards. There were also two bathrooms on the same floor of the room. We would love to have stayed longer and I definitely recommend Jelle's place over a hotel. York is definitely worth visiting!
Fantastic location, perfect for exploring the city, host friendly, Jelle was there to meet us when we arrived.
Room basic but clean, bed a little hard and kitchen bit messy, however this would not prevent us from staying again.
The room in Jelle's apartment was quite comfortable, and on the whole I was very pleased! The neighborhood is great, close to the city center but on a nice, quiet residential street. The apartment is well-equipped, and the room is nice and big. My only (mild) complaint would be that the internet was spotty sometimes. But overall it was great!
Excellent experience! Jelle's house is beautiful and very well located inside the city walls, but in a lovely residential area. Since York is not that big you can go walking to any attraction. The house has two shared bathrooms with showers and excellent hot water, and Jelle provided us with access to a fridge for guests and breakfast.
We met Jelle briefly because we stayed only one day, but he seemed a very nice and relaxed person. Even when we arrived quite early and his other guests had not yet left, he provided us with keys and let us leave our luggage in the living room while we went out exploring the city, which was perfect for us. He also gave us recommendations about what to do in York!
I stayed with Jelle for two nights recently. I can highly recommend his house to anyone looking to stay in York. Firstly the location is great. It is inside the walls but not right in the hustle and bustle in a lovely leafy part of town. It took 10-15 mins to walk into the shambles area. Communication, check in and support while staying were all excellent. I felt very comfortable there and safe. Highly recommended and would stay there again myself if I find myself back in the lovely city of York.
My girlfriend and I decided to stay with Heller for our one night stay in York during our U.K. trip. Jelle was a great host and provided great info and suggestions about where to eat and what to do. We asked for his opinions of great spots to eat and we decided to give them a shot. The House of the Trembling Madness was a great recommendation for not only the beer storefront downstairs but also the upstairs pub and its good. I won't give its secret away. His location was perfect. Only a 20 minute walk on the wall to reach the city centre. Easy parking out front for a small additional cost too. The room was very comfortable too. The double/full bed offered us a great nights sleep. The morning we checked out we enjoyed some toast and coffee Jelle provided for us in the kitchen. We also uncovered a pair of tickets to the Minster in his fact book, which we used and dropped off for future guests as they work for a whole year from their purchase date in May 2014. We would stay with Belle again and recommend him to anyone.
Jelle stayed for 2 nights with us to meet family here in the Netherlands. It's a nice guy with whom it was interesting to talk about his Dutch background and the fact that he is also a host (in York, England). Recommendable, supposing he's as good a host as a guest. And why not.
jelle booked for phil who was in york for work purposes.Phil is a lovely warm and charming man and it was interesting to meet him he is very hard working and motivated
Jelle and his 8 year old daughter Belle, were our very first airbnb guests! They had booked on the first night we had registered! We couldn't have had better guests! Jelle is very relaxed and easy going and bella is a very sweet well behaved girl. Jelle was very clear in his email about the purpose of his trip and their itinerary, which gave me a good feeling of trust. When they got back from dinner we had a really nice chat with a nice cup of fresh mint tea. They where also very easy to please with breakfast, they where just hanging out for a traditional Dutch sandwich topping, 'Hagelslag' (chocolate sprinkles) Luckily we had just stocked up on it! We would gladly have them stay again!
Jelle and little Bella were great guests. The communication before and during the stay was clear. They were very respectful to the house and clean and tidy.
