Stayed at this place with my son (13 y.o.) for 8 nights.
The best thing about this apartment is location. It is very close to Newport PATH station. In only 15 minutes (excluding waiting time, which can be significant on weekends) you are either at WTC or 34th Street. Ideal for visiting almost any tourist attraction on Manhattan.
The advantage of having a kitchen in the apartment and Morton Williams supermarket literally next door (and open 7 am till midnight) makes your tourist life simple.
There were unfortunately several aspects that made our stay less enjoyable.
The room we were using was tiny. It is literally the size of a king-size bed with no furniture at all. There is simply no room to put anything else in there.
The guest room that you will be using for dining has low sitting and a very low table in the middle. Eating is not very convenient.
The kitchen is small and not very well kept. The sink is always full of dirty dishes left by the landlords. Other dishes, clean and not so clean, are spread all over the place. Gas oven has not been cleaned for a while.
There is a very friendly dog in the apartment. It is so friendly that having a meal is tricky. We had to either ask the landlords to lock the dog in their bedroom or just do it ourselves when the guys were not around.
Dog's hare is everywhere. So please be warned.
One thing left bad taste in my mouth, literally, was that the landlords were smoking hookah in the living room when we returned home on the weekend.
The bathroom was OK though.
Overall, this was similar to camping in a nice civilized location.
If you have high cleanliness standards, think twice before opting for this place.
Extremely well located, close to the PATH and lots of local shops and amenities, in a safe neighbourhood with awesome views of downtown across the Hudson river. The bedroom is a bit of a squeeze but the apartment is otherwise spacious and has everything you need for a short stay. The hosts are charming and helpful and their dog is a sweetie. Would definitely book again.
Our first time in NYC and we had wonderful accommodations! The apartment was clean with all the amenities. You can even do laundry in the laundry room downstairs. It's in a safe location with quiet neighbors, and businesses and apartment complexes nearby. There's even a doorman in the apartment building. The best thing is that the PATH subway is just about a block away - so very easy to get to NYC/Manhattan. Suggest you get a Metro Card as well so that when you're in NYC, you can easily travel around in the metro subway or the metro bus.
Uzair, our host, was away when we were there, so had the whole apartment to ourselves. He's a great host in that he was very responsive to our questions which was very important to us, and very helpful as well. I would highly recommend him to future renters and would definitely rent from him again if we ever travel back there.
Thanks Uzair! You made our stay in NY very enjoyable.
Nice building close to everything. Apartment was clean with a pretty good view on high floor. Would stay again.
