I'm a teacher at Academy of Art University. I live in San Francisco, in the Inner Richmond, between Golden Gate Park and the Presidio.
The Troy flat is truly centrally located and spacious. We were able to easily get around SF without having a car - and parking would have been difficult in this neighborhood. Be prepared to carry luggage up to the third floor, but the effort is worth it. The kitchen is well-equipped, the beds are comfortable, and the natural light is great. There are notes throughout the flat which provide directions on how to use something or which label what's in the cabinets, and these instructions helped us feel quickly at home. Alex communicated with us regularly to make sure that we were having a good stay. In short, we couldn't have asked for more.
It was a great experience!
Really beautiful apartment, very spacious, very clean and tidy with everything clearly labelled! Nice balcony for sitting outside. Just one word of caution for anyone bringing a car (Alex did warn us): parking is not easy – it is possible to find two hour parking, but it’s a struggle. There are garages quite near, but are expensive. So if you can do without a car then do so! Apartment is in great location.
This place rocks! Clean, spacious, GREAT location.
We used Alex's lovely apartment to house family in town for a wedding. It was perfect: great location, homey feel, and plenty of space. I felt much more at ease knowing that my family was settled into such a nice, convenient spot, with groceries, restaurants, and parks all within walking distance.
This was our first Airbnb experience, and it was a good one! The flat was exactly as advertised. Our two teens each had their own room and there was plenty of space for everyone to stretch out. The kitchen is well-appointed and the living room is comfortable. We had a few nights in after spending busy days touring the city, and felt very at ease.
The neighbourhood is convenient (by foot) to Golden Gate Park and the Presidio. If you're a runner, you'll want to add Golden Gate Park to your route! Muir Woods (much recommended!) is only 25 mins away by car. The Geary bus (38L) will take you downtown in about 30 minutes. Around the corner on Clement were some excellent restaurants - we recommend Burma Superstar, Q, and Chapeau.
While people may rave about the Mission District and the Castro, we felt that the Richmond District was more our speed, and we felt more comfortable walking around. Granted, you'll want to visit the Mission - we did, and it was cool indeed - but we felt that we were coming home to Richmond every night.
While we didn't get to meet Alex or his family, he kept in touch by phone/text/email and answered our questions. Great service and follow up!
Warm, unpretentious home in an awesome and convenient location. Despite a few toddler-related quirks (bathtub drain) the other reminders of a real family life in the place were a delight to us.
The apartment is located on a quiet street just of an ethnically diverse shopping and dining strip and a 10 minute walk to Golden Gate Park. There is a Trader Joe nearby, also a real plus if you dig whole foods.
Alex is the best host we could possibly have, nice and friendly, knows the city inside out. But be aware when Alex tells you to walk somewhere, because he walks like an hour to work (ONE WAY) everyday so his concept of distant might be very different to yours ^_^
Location is pretty good, bus 38 (Geary), 1 (California), 2 (Clement) all go to downtown in about 15 to 20 mins. The neighborhood is nice and full of great restaurants especially Asian cuisines. Alamo sq, Haight St and Golden gate park are also nearby so don't miss them.
We will definitely come back again and highly recommend Alex's place to everybody!
My boyfriend and I were over from England and stayed with Alex for two nights, and had a fantastic weekend! The room was spacious and cosy and the location of the apartment could not have been better. A string of wonderful restaurants were a block away and we were able to walk to Presidio Park, which had an amazing view of the Golden Gate bridge. Nearby is easy access to public transport to Haight-Ashbury and other touristy areas. Alex was helpful, welcoming and has a fantastic knowledge of the best places to go and the places to avoid. He will prepare you for your journey into one of the most beautiful cities in the world with a great breakfast and cup of espresso! We did not know what to expect from our first stay with Airbnb but Alex made the start to our holiday amazing and I could not thank him more.I would definitely recommend him as a host!
We had a fabulous stay at Alex's place, would give it six stars if we could! It is very close to everything you need... stores, great restaurants, coffee shops and the bus. The house itself is very homey and comfortable, and Alex was very helpful with all of our questions before and after we arrived. We would definitely stay there again and I would recommend this great flat to anyone looking to stay in San Francisco. Thanks Alex!
Alex and his family were lovely people who could not have been better and more gracious guests. Super friendly and adorable kids to boot! They were easy to relate to and down to earth during every step (prior to and during) their stay.
In all honesty, they left my apartment in as good as shape as its ever been! I'd be proud to have them as my guests again whenever they are in town.
