This apartment was idyllic and perfect in every way! Very cute, close to a street with shops and restaurants, clean, charming, everything as advertised, and the hosts were helpful and friendly. A great place to stay.
Sarah was a gracious host. Everything "last minute" was provided: coffee, shampoo. The bed was comfortable and the access through the garage appreciated. Others have mentioned noise from above. It was there, but ordinary human noise and didn't bother us.
Extremely bright, clean, charming, and functional space. Beautiful views, especially the one from the kitchen -- lots of windows everywhere. Hosts are responsive and available if you need them, but the space is very private. Quite cold in the evenings and mornings when I visited (December) -- the wood stove helps somewhat but requires some work. Overall very pleasant stay.
I stayed in this studio for 3 months, during my visiting period at UC Berkeley. Location is pretty good: North Berkeley Bart station is less than 15 minutes away on foot, and the campus is about half an hour away. Right in front of the house there's a really convenient bus stop to get to campus faster if you don't want to walk. The apartment is very comfortable, it's small but it feels homey. I loved the bed, the shower, and the possibility to use the washing machine and the dryer at any time independently. The neighborhood is safe and quiet.
Last but not least, Sarah John and Willa are absolutely great. They're very friendly, welcoming, and helpful in case of necessity, without ever intruding the privacy of the guest. Having such landlords is always a big plus.
I would definitely recommend this accommodation.
A great apartment in a quiet street, with lots of light and space. Sarah and John were welcoming and unobtrusive hosts. The apartment is bigger and better than it looks in the pictures, the kitchen is very special with views over the garden and glimpse of the city! Short walking distance to downtown Berkeley and easy parking in the street makes getting around easy. Highly recommended
This place was awesome! extremely cozy, clean, and quiet. the hosts were both incredibly friendly and super respectful of privacy. The sunset views of SF and the golden gate bridge are amazing!
Although we arrived late in the evening, Sarah and John welcomed us warmely. Their appartment has lots of charm. It was clean and exactly as described on the Airb&b site. We loved it! Our son was happy to play with their adorable daughter. We really felt comfortable there and we would love to come back again. Thanks a lot!
Staying at the Garret in the Trees was one of our favorite airbnb places in Berkeley. The space is filled with light on all sides and the kitchen has a great 180 degree view over the neighboring treetops, perfect for mornings and sunsets. The kitchen is well equipped yet rustic, so if you’re ok washing your own dishes and using a gas stove, everything works. Everything feels homemade and unique, giving it such a nice personal touch. The neighborhood is quiet and so is Sarah’s family downstairs, we didn’t hear any noise during our stay. I was even 8 months pregnant during our stay, so I was around most of the time and had a very comfortable experience. Parking is not a problem either, we parked in the same spot down the block every night basically. We highly recommend staying here if you like a place with charm and character, perfectly suited to Berkeley.
The pictures in the ad do not do this house justice. It is simply stunning. However, as wonderful as the apartment is, Sarah, John, and Willa are even better. What a great, welcoming, coo, and friendly family. Getting to know them was the highlight of our stay and reason enough to rent their place again.
Sarah did a great job setting this place up. I had everything that I needed, and Sarah made herself available to answer any questions.
The neighborhood is great - walking distance to a very comfortable coffee shop. There is also a great brunch place nearby that I enjoyed on weekends.
You may want a car (or at least a bike) to get around for things like groceries and eating out. There is a bart station within walking distance, but it's not very convenient. However, we had a car and had no trouble finding parking right next to the house.
The physical space is great - it feels very warm and welcoming, with lots of natural light. It is also well furnished.
My parents, sister, and brother-in-law stayed with me for part of the time that I rented this space, and everyone was very pleased. Highly recommend!
Sarah has put her considerable architectural talents to work on her house and garden, and you can reap the benefits. This room opens directly into the back garden, which is full of fantastic plants (fancy some chard or collard greens?) and is a nice place to sit and read or eat in the sun.
If you're in need of a convenient, welcoming place to stay in Berkeley, this is a great option.
