This was a great experience. My husband and I were greeted by the host who offered us a glass of local wine. The grounds and the castle were beautiful. Our room had everything we needed. A delicious breakfast was served before we left.
My husband and I loved our stay at Jean-Claude's chateau! It was a breathtaking experience-- the room was perfect, the grounds were legendary, and Jean-Claude made us a reservation for a local restaurant in town, where we ate the best meal of our lives. No joke. The best meal of our lives. Very special place and Jean-Claude is an amazing guy.
Jean Claude greeted us warmly and gave us a thorough tour of the room. The room was fantastic! It appears to be the only fully restored part of an authentic 16th century castle that has seen much better days and is now being slowly put back together. All or most of the furniture is authentic 16th century. The setting gave us the chance to live out the fantasy of inhabiting a real castle. Yes, there was a cobweb or two, and maybe even a couple of spiders; but they were completely in character. After all, this was a 16th century castle, and not a Motel 6. We loved it.
My husband and I had a great time at Jean Claire's castle! Outs a wonderful town and the room is great, with private shower and toilet rooms. Jean Claude is a very welcoming host and we really enjoyed our conversations with him and grateful for the wine and travel advice! We would love to come back again!
Eine wunderbare Erfahrung so eine Nacht in einem alten Turm! Alles liebevoll restauriert.
What a wonderful experience this night in the old restored tower! Jean Claude was a very nice host. Thank you!
My wife and I had a very pleasant stay at the Chateau. It is a very unique room in the corner of an old relic of the Chateau - an idyllic setting. Jean Claude was extremely welcoming - greeting us with a very pleasant drink on the lawn before sunset. Breakfast was delightful, brought to us by Jean Claude ably assisted by his adorable wee fox terrier called Hermione. We ate breakfast sitting by the very large open windows, enjoying the view and the sounds of the countryside.
We will remember our stay with Jean Claude forever.
He was an amazing, welcoming host. We arrived late and interrupted a semi-formal banquet that he was hosting, but he was excited to see us and was eager to show us to our "chambers" after introducing us to everyone in the banquet hall.
Jean Claude is doing an amazing job restoring an enchanted chateaux. He offered us breakfast in bed, but the weather was so beautiful that we ate outside instead. We loved his personal tour and couldn't learn enough about the exciting history. But I won't ruin the surprises: come and hear yourself.
We can't wait to come back in a few years and see his restoration progress!
I cannot reccommend the hospitality and the beauty of The King's Chamber enough. Greated by Jean Claude after a 6 hour drive with a bottle of wine and freshly picked peaches to relax with him & his beautiful dog Hermione - heaven!
This is the sort of stay that makes airbnb a cut above any boutique hotel, as it offers an experience. The small hamlet of Veuil is also qwerky with modern art sculptures in people's gardens.
Thank you Jean Claude for such generosity and fun.
We were recommended The King's Chamber by 2 friends who stayed a few years back, and sure enough, it proved a unique and thoroughly indulgent experience. Jean Claude has created a little medieval oddity in the Southern Loire Valley - a high end hotel room in the middle of a magnificent ruins which he is painstakingly recreating over the years. We hope to return in 10 years to see how much further he's got with his fantastic project. Highly recommended - there's nothing quite like it.
It was a pleasure hosting Jean Claude and his partner, it was a pitty that they stayed such short time. Everything was left as it was when they arrived. I hope they come back with more time. Recommended.
