I am a special education teacher, program administrator, mom, and an EMT. I have been lucky enough to live all over the world while growing up, but for the past 17 years we settled in one place, beautiful Orcas Island.

Jim and Kari have a beautiful home with a nice private bed and bath for guests. They were very accommodating and we had a wonderful dinner out when my dinner plans fell through. I highly recommend the home, and the added benefit of thoughtful conversation was a big plus!
My wife and I traveled to Orcas Island for a trail race and stayed at Kari and Jim's lovely home, which was located very close to the start/finish of the race. The room was perfect. Clean, comfortable, private, etc. Unfortunately, we did not get to meet Kari, but Jim, her husband, was home to greet and inform us on the island happenings. He is exceptionally knowledgeable about the island, and we appreciated that.
We had a wonderful time staying here, it was very close to the downtown area, and was beautiful. In addition Kari was a very gracious host, and gave us a local flavor of the island. We would definitely stay here again.
We had a great time on Orcas, once again. It was short, as is the norm, just a couple days. Kari was a great host, her place was nice, clean and well decorated. She's talkative and friendly. The room had a private adjacent bathroom. The coffee was good. Her advice about the island, its happenings and good spots in town was all spot-on. I really liked the location. It's very near town and there's a short walk down a trail that allows you to avoid the streets and traffic.
Wonderful location on beautiful Orcas Island. Kari was welcoming and her home is lovely. Great spot that we would recommend.
Kari's place was awesome. Just what we needed and within walking distance to the shops/restaurants! Kari and Jim were great hosts.
My stay with Kari and her family was lovely. They were welcoming and the house very clean! Fabulous bed, my own bathroom, and the kitchen to make breakfast in. Communication was excellent, including several calls from me when I got lost in the dark and needed directions back to their place. The family was good to talk with, and respected my need for privacy. Just wish I'd had more time to visit! I'd stay again and highly recommend others stay with them as well!
Kari was super friendly and knowledgeable about the area. House was emaculate and the bed was a cloud. Highly reccommended!
I stayed at Kari's for one day and I had a very pleasant experience. The location is great for walking around the local stores and restaurants. I stayed in the upstairs room next to the bathroom and everything was super clean and neatly arranged, the bed was very comfortable and full of pillows. Kari is super friendly and helpful, I had a great time on my first visit to Orcas Island.
Kari and her family went out of their way to suggest activities during our trip. Their beautiful home was only seconds from Main Street, and a breathtaking walking path provided a private view of some of the wooded or rolling landscapes near the shopping district.
Kari was a wonderful guest and we really enjoyed hosting her. Hoping to visit her airbnb one day! Aloha, Danielle
Quite enjoyed meeting Kari and her fantastic daughter. If we are ever up at Orcas Island, we'll be sure to stay at her place if possible!
Kari and Jim are dependable pillars of the community with a wealth of public service experience in a multitude of positions of responsibility plus they'll know everything you'll need to know about Orcas Island - where to eat, shop and play. You can count on things being as they represent them to be and on being treated with fairness and honor - I can't recommend them highly enough.
Living in Deer Harbor and working in Eastsound,I'm very tempted to book a room for myself for a few nights. But only if Kari is there too. I can't imagine a more entertaining sleepover. Definitely worth the price. I'll have to check my calendar. Maybe we can make dinner together?
I've known Kari and her husband for years- we worked together in the local fire department. Kari is fun and funny and loyal and trustworthy. When 9 of my family members came to visit me on Orcas Island we all stayed in one of her houses. Do not hesitate to stay in any of her accommodations. I know you won't be disappointed.
