It was a pleasure hosting Martin.
Martin was a great guest and everything was arranged smoothly. Easy communication, nice to talk to: Martin is responsible and trustful. It was nice to have you here !
Alana and Martin have, in my eyes, redeemed the reputation of their entire lame ass generation!!! They were remarkably responsible, considerate and I thoroughly enjoyed their company over dinner and the very occasional drink. I wish I had been this mature when I was 21 ;) They were quiet, respectful, left the room clean and tidy AND diligently helped me was dishes as well! What more could one ask for?
I hope they catch the best waves (on the beach and in their lives) as they make their way around the world. Excellent guests.
Martin and his girlfriend were lovely guests - we missed each other for most of their stay, but when we did talk they were both very friendly, and they left the room clean and put together. I'd be very happy to host them again!
Martin is an arrogant and immature young man who is also very presumptuous -- he feels that he is owed certain things beyond what is expected of a host; we have had some very lovely guests previously, one of whom who stayed with us for a month, all of who had respect for our property and space and with whom we were delighted to share our home. However, this was not the case here. I would not welcome him back into our home again.
-"Unfortunately we found out the kitchen had no hot water and we were only able to get one of the four hot plates to work." All 4 burners work, considering the mishaps, you would have told us. Additionally, Tap water comes out at 25 degree Celsius (77 F), not a consideration in old houses in the Tropics, but in the shower.
-"We also had issues with the toilet not working properly more than once which was later fixed by the owners." Trowing sanitary pads in the toilet is the most common cause for clogging.
-"Do be careful though as we had our rental car tires slashed and car door scratched all over out the front of the apartment one night." Please, do not block other people's driveway!,
-"It was good having air conditioning although it was too loud to keep on at night when trying to sleep and also caused the electricity to cut out." Issue addressed, we replaced the circuit breaker, just in case.
Martin and Alana seem to be a nice, soft-spoken couple, but they reminded us, unfortunately, why certain age groups (18-25) statistically become such a liability, and why you, as a host, need to prepare for anything and include "stuff-normally-you-wouldn't-think-of" in the House Rules. Because for instance, you might be in need of the "Please...do not throw waste or rubbish in the toilet" sign when confronted with a clogged toilet. Or you might need to inform your guests about the legal implications of "borrowing" a shopping cart from the local supermarket and explain them that is considered theft and is frowned upon, particularly, when such item is left wandering in front of your neighbor's house. Or your caught off-guard when your guest's car is vandalized for no other reasonable explanation than it being left during the night blocking a random neighbor's driveway. Specially, if the night before you e-mailed your guests for not blocking an entry/drop-off to another nearby house. While inexcusable, and unexpected, your still left wondering how can you improve as a host and just feel sympathetic with other hosts that offer similar accommodations.
Martin is a very nice person and the couple left my studio in perfect condition. It is indeed a pleasure having them. I will highly recommend them to any hosts who can accommodate their future vacation request.. Thanks again Martin.. All the Best and take care.. Abdel . .
Martin is too cool, my super surfer dude from Australia and a young George Michael :D
He and his cute Aussie girlfriend are welcome back at anytime.
Great guests, glad to meet them; and more than welcome to our apartment any time.
