We were really impressed by the magnificent view. The apartment is very big so that me and my husband had enough space for us. Although Sindre hadn`t been there for a while the apartment was clean and tidy.
Communication with the host was very good via email, mobile phone and text messages.
We luckily also could use his parking space in the parking deck because it seems to be quite difficult parking in this area.
Unfortunately the internet was not available which is quite disappointing abroad where you have roaming costs.
I had a wonderful time at Sindre's place. It is quiet, tidy andd really beautifully located right at the sea.
It takes about 15 min by bus till the city centre which worked fine for me.
Unfortunatly I did not meet Sindre in person, but he was very friendly and helpful with any questions I had. He also had plenty of brochures and maps on tromsoe and the lofoten at his place :)
I wasn't the only person staying at his place for 1/3 days but that was really nice since I met very friendly people there.
All in all I would recommend to stay at his place if you don't wish to be at the very centre of town but look for something cosy and relaxing :)
This was my first experience of using Airbnb and I was very impressed.
This was a pleasant small apartment on the 4th floor in a water-front complex. I took a taxi there from the airport, under 300NOK.
Sindre's block was a little difficult to find initially, and then there was some confusion as to how to get into the block and where to find the key to his flat, as he was staying elsewhere to cram for some exam resits, but he was very helpful on the telephone. Once I was into the flat it was delightful. He had left a note to use up stuff in the fridge.
The spare room I was using had 2 beds, a small single, and a small double. The curtains were black, which was useful for the light nights, but quite thin, which was not quite so helpful. There was some pleasant noise from the water below occasionally slapping on the rocks below, dependent on the size of boats going past.
The apartment is out of the centre of Tromso, but lovely views from the balcony (which was big enough, just, for me to do my Tai Chi), or from the lounge. A pleasant walk along the water front, and even a beach where one could swim/sunbathe. There were fairly frequent buses nearby, and a local Euro Spar supermarket which had a good range, including gluten-free stuff.
Went to a Midnight Sun concert in the Arctic Cathedral, recommended. A bus there, then a pleasant 40 minute walk back.
We enjoyed our stay in Sindre's apartment in Tromso. The unit is nice and bright when the sun it out and there is a view of the water from both decks. We loved it!
Sindre had good communication - directions to the apartment, details about the apartment, parking in the garage, etc. There was a good amount of space for our part of 5.
The apartment is well furnished; kitchen is well stocked with cooking tools and gadgets; there is a parking spot in the underground parking lot and there is a large grocery store just a short walk from the apartment.
Some drawbacks - dishes were not washed in the dishwasher, baking pan was full of crumbs, garbage bags from previous renters were left at the entrance of the unit, toilet was dirty, beds were not made (linens were hung up to dry but were still damp when we arrived at 10 pm), floor had quite a bit of debris on it and there were issues with getting into the building and wifi.
Had the unit been clean up after the previous AirBnB people I think it would have been an excellent place to stay. Sindre did his best to get the wifi set up again during our stay so we appreciate that. He has excellent communication and is very informative.
I would recommend this apartment, it is in a great location in Tromso and is a good home away from home.
Sindre was a great host.
We had a really good time in Tromso and the apartment was also very nice and comfy.
Everything worked out great.
Great location and sindre was very amenable. We had a great time in tromso thanks to sindre's place, well equipped kitchen and comfortable space. We'd love to return!
I was one week in Tromsø. Sindre is a friendly and uncomplicated host. He has taken care of everything to make my stay as pleasant as possible. Thanks for the good suggestions to explore the surrounding!
His apartment is located near the city centre between mountains and with a fantastic view from the balcony. It was very cosy, homey and clean. I felt like home!
Great communnication, great place! Recommended.
Sindre is a great host. A spontaneous and human one. Don't expect white gloves or too diplomatic approach. He's a "normal" guy from Lofoten Islands who transferred his values and warmth to Tromso. And the cod fish, of course. He prepared me the best cod fish I ever had in my life (hey, and I'm a Portuguese-born European). He doesn't bother about details. Once you enter that flat it becomes you home. The views from the balcony are brilliant. The only minus for lazy travelers: it's 2 km from city center, though bus number 20 passes every 20 minutes and it's in front of his flat (a 2-minute-walk). Of course I'll go back to Tromso soon, perhaps for the Aurora Borealis ("Northern Lights" in barbaric languages) and one of the reasons is definitely Sindre's amazing hospitality.
