What a cool and fun house! Very eclectic with awesome vintage lamps and furnishings in a historic historic 2-story/4-unit shotgun house complete with wood floors, stained glass windows and more charm than I could ever have imagined. If that's not enough, Esmeralda the cat was there to keep us entertained and always greeted us at the door every time we came home! This is the perfect way to do JazzFest if you plan on spending a lot of time at the Fairgrounds, as it's just a leisurely 15 minute walk through a beautiful (and safe) neighborhood. If you'd rather go somewhere else, the streetcar stop is 2 blocks away and it'll drop you off on Canal Street so you'll be at the base of the French Quarter or a few steps away from the St. Charles line that will take you uptown towards the Garden District. Great restaurants and shops are just a few blocks away, so it's an easy walk when you get hungry. Don't waste your money on a hotel when you can get some real NOLA flavor in Mid-City!
We had a great stay! The place is very comfortable, and in a great neighborhood. Unfortunately, we didn't get to meet Christine, but she was easy to get in touch with and we had everything we needed. The cat was super friendly and the neighbors were extremely helpful! Definitely check out the park nearby if you stay here, and there's a grocery store around the corner if you need anything.
Christine's creole cottage was exactly what we wanted when we came to New Orleans. The house was decorated with great local art and came complete with a stocked kitchen and Esmeralda the cat.
We were unsure about getting a house with a cat, but she was well behaved and affectionate, yet independent enough not to be bothersome.
The location in mid city New Orleans put us within close walking distance to great restaurants, bars, and the street car system which carries you to uptown or the French quarter if you don't want to take the five minute drive to these areas.
One minor drawback is the street parking, but only one time during our stay did we have to park more than half a block away. We will definitely try to stay here again if we return to the big easy and would highly recommend this place to anyone.
This was an awesome experience.
Christine has been very caring and responsive by texts and e-mails, always asking if everything went well and if she could be of any help.
The apartment is ideally located in a charming house, in a beautiful neighborhood, near City Park and with a lot of oak trees-planted streets. The neighbors were very friendly.
The apartment itself is charming, with a lot of vintage decoration (you will have to be careful!), and releases a good atmosphere that, I would say, comes from Christine's personality. The porch is very convenient and beautiful at sunset too.
Last, but not least, what made this an awesome stay was the little cat. She was very friendly and talkative, coming to sleep with me at night and always asking for hugs in a very funny way. I miss her! I would definitely come back there!
Christine's house was as advertised. It was not the tidiest house, but definitely cute. THE CAT! Oh, I loved her.
Fantastic place in a great location (within walking distance to the canal streetcar, coffee/food, and shopping). We had a wonderful time and would return again!
Wonderful host, terrific place, and great neighborhood (to include amenities suggested by host). I would return in a flash!
It was great staying at Christine's home. The place was perfect for our weekend as it was within walking distance to City Park where we participated in the 5k "Race for the Cure" that Saturday. There were also bars and restaurants within walking distance which made it that much more convenient. The neighborhood is great and the neighbors were all friendly. Christine was a great host and she was prompt to answer any questions we had leading up to and through the course of our stay in her place. Thank you Christine - we had a lovely time!
