Francesaca is a great host, very welcoming and friendly. The apartment is right in the middle of Castel Gondolfo - which itself is a beautiful town. The bus stop is a 10 minute walk away, the train is a 15 minute walk away and the lake is a 25 minute walk (steeply downhill). Here you can rent kayaks, paddle boats or just swim and sunbake. Definitely eat at Art E Vino - delicious. wifi works well, very comfortable bed and good sized kitchen/living room. Very cute balcony with views over to the sea.
The only problem we had is that the address airbnb lists is wrong, at least via google maps. The address is NOT Strada Provinciale 36, it is rather Corso della Repubblica (not sure on spelling) 36. This was quite an issue for us as it meant walking an extra 1.40 hours to and from the bus stop to an address which didn't exist!! Which was a massive waste of time given we had less than 24 hours to enjoy the town/lake. The road is also not nice to walk on with very little pavement. If you are thinking to walk to the town Albano on this road - don't. But other than that the stay was perfect.
Lovely, surprisingly spacious, little flat in amazing location just off the main plaza. Francesca helped direct our taxi driver and was warm and welcoming when we arrived. Her place was very neat and clean and homely. The master bed is big and comfortable and the second 'bedroom' (more a cupboard) was perfect to shut our baby off in. Would recommend and stay again. Thank you.
Francesca's apartment is the perfect location for a stay in Castel Gandolfo. It is right in the centre of the small town (Google maps may lead you down Strada Provincial and out of town... but the apartment is on the part of Strada Provincial that is the town centre!). Francesca met us at the apartment to let us is in after we phoned her to explain to our taxi driver where to go (since Google Maps had led us astray!). Her English is good enough to give a good tour around the apartment, explain how to use the gas stove and where to leave the keys. The apartment is beautifully decorated and homely with a lovely view, comfortable bed and great shower. Francesca had also left us delicious coffee and yoghurts for breakfast, with amazing honey.
A lovely quiet retreat in a very attractive little town
Francesca's casa is a wonderful pied a terre on the Main Street (pedestrian) leading to Castel Gandolfo, the popes summer palace. The town has a balcony a short distance from the casa, overlooking Lago Albano, set in a crater of a extinct volcano. It is an amazing view. You can walk around the palace walls and get glimpses of the gardens.
Francesca was a very nice host, recommended a great place to eat dinner (Arte e Vino) and the casa was very comfortable. I highly recommend.
Francesca's apartment is lovely. It's extremely quiet (no cars allowed in the town) but right on the main street so you're on the doorstep of the local shops and restaurants. Arte e Vino is a restaurant almost next door and one of the best places I've ever eaten in. If you want peace, culture, scenery and a homely place to stay - this is apartment perfect.
Lovely apartment for a perfect gateway or a longer stay right on the ''corso''of Castel Gandolfo. Delicious restaurants all around.
Quiet, cozy and superclean.
