Hello this is a nice and quiet little house located in Merville Franceville Plage, a historical pretty village near the beaches of the D-day. 25m from the beach.
This August we spent 10 days at Simone's home at the beach. We enjoyed it very much: the small house (and garden) is adequately equipped and comfortable for a family with small children. The sleeping quarters are basic but convenient. The bathroom has a nice bath and French shower. The living area is convient and practical. We do think the house could be cleaner. And we would have appreciated a bit more storage possibilities for our luggage and beach stuff. The real 'plus' is the proximity of the quiet beach (2 mn walk) and the village center with its shops at walking distance. It is also a nice (flat) area to do some biking. By car, easy day trips to Cabourg, Caen, the invasion beaches and la Suisse Normande are less than an hour away. In all, we were very happy to stay at Simone´s and will certainly return!
as the house is located at the beach it is perfect, the house itself it good, but it could be cleaner - bedrooms and bathroom has been ok. kitchen would need a cleaning...
nice place, nice house, good location, but it sure would be great if it would have been cleaner. especially the kithchen area and the bathroom. close to shops. close to the beach. quiet. in effect everything would have been perfect if not for the cleanliness.
Simone provided a great place for our family to explore Normandy and went out of her way to make sure we got settled. The house was very comfortable and in a great location with easy access to a great beach and nearby restaurants. Highly recommended!
Location: The third house from a very large and lovely sandy beach. The town was quaint, full of holiday units, and not very busy when we visited in late-May. The town also had a number of restaurant options, a grocery store, bakery, and other shops all within a few blocks of the house.
Check-in: We asked for some extra instructions on how to find the house, which made it quite simple, and the host was waiting for us there when we arrived. She had given us her mobile number, but we didn't need to use it.
Cleanliness: Very clean
Front garden: Nicely maintained, a couple of chairs for sun bathing and an outdoor table and chairs for meals outside
Parking: Free, own parking spot
Kitchen: Small. Has all the essentials, but not loads of extra space. The oven is small and not made for lots of extravagant baking.
Bathrooms: 1 toilet in a separate room. Bath and sink in another room. The bath has a hand-held shower unit which does not reach very high. Towels were provided.
Bedroom 1: Double bed, comfy
Bedroom 2: 2 single beds, foam mattresses. Some extra foam mattresses under the beds
Bedroom 3: 2 single foam mattresses stacked on top of one another. About 4 inches thick each.
Sofas: 2 futons. Very squeaky. A little more comfortable than they look.
Other items: Some beach umbrellas, toys, snorkels, and other equipment, DVD and book collections for your use while there.
No wireless internet - you can pay for access at a nearby shop "Les Pins". Not the most convenient.
A a travel cot was provided upon request.
Good communication initially by email but difficult with phones/text when we were checking in. My phone had no signal and there was no wireless internet at the house; the lady who gave us the keys had no English at all so communication was lacking and the house was hard to find.
House was as described - simple but practical. Tiny kitchen and bathroom (without a proper shower) and nice lounge and dining room.
The narrow spiral staircase was difficult at times and I wouldn't recommend the house to anyone with leg injuries or difficulty walking. The bathroom was adequate for three of us but would be a bit overwhelming for 5.
Terrific location and so quiet and peaceful. Was totally relaxing and beautiful sunsets on the beach.
Would be a fantastic place for a family with kids to have a beach holiday.
Thanks Simone - were had a lovely stay.
