Hello Antonio, thank you for allowing me to stay at your place it was comfortable and close to all i needed. It was easy to find and you provided me with great directions and information.
Antonio's apartment is located along Lygon Street, a long street filled with many lovely eateries (I recommend Pope Joan along Nicholson Street!). From a solo traveler's point of view, it is quite safe as it is located along the main road, just a couple of minutes away from the tram stop.
The apartment itself was clean, although unfortunately the men's underwear a previous reviewer mentioned was still there. The room has a bed, working fan, blanket heater, and most importantly - an ensuite (though without any toiletries, so you'll have to bring your own).
I don't think Antonio actually stays in the apartment, but I know I was sharing it with someone who was renting the other room. Didn't see the person at all though. Antonio may not take the initiative to message you, but he will certainly reply closer to the date of your arrival. For some strange reason, none of my electronic devices could connect to the wireless. Wasn't much of an issue for me since I had my own SIM card, but might be a problem for those who require the wireless.
This would have been a great place to stay if it wasn't so dirty. The bathroom was filthy with dust and hair everywhere. I got dust all over any of my clothes that touched the ground in the bedroom. Kitchen / living room also very unclean.
It's a great location and house though. Bedroom small but was fine for me as it had big wardrobe so I put my bags in there. Just be aware there's a weird bath thing rather than a shower.
Also it does advertise there is off street parking but there isn't. You can park in the street at the back.
the stay was pretty alright. to be fair, i wasn't in the apartment most of the time. it had all the basic amenities - such as a kitchen to cook your meals if you're saving up, hot shower and a comfortable bed. the room was abit dusty, the floor could do abit of vacuuming but it's not a big deal. for the price, i'd say this room is a steal cos it's pretty big and spacious!
oh plus going around Melbourne is a breeze. the tram stop is located just 3mins away from the apartment. there are a couple of grocery shops located around the area and walk abit further up and there are quite a number of hipster brunch places.
I picked this room as it was very convenient for me and the cheapest in the area, Antonio allowed me to easily extend my stay, however there were many issues id like to warn anyone else of.
- Antonio did not reply to any of my calls or messages until I was about to get on the plane to Melbourne, added stress for me.
- My 12pm check in was changed to 3pm check in at literally last minutes notice which was incredibly inconvenient.
- The room wasn't clean, the shower had mould and there was hair everywhere in the bathroom, soap bars with hair stuck to them, and dust all over the tabletops.
- When I was packing up my things ready to leave, I grabbed something from under then bed and it was someone else's underwear (yuck)
- Because there were 2 rooms there was another person staying in the apartment with me, I would often come home and the door would be unlocked as the other person hadn't taken any care when leaving.
The room wasn't amazing, and defiantly wasn't clean, but it was "fine." Im not going to rate 0 because he doesn't deserve that.

My first airbnb stay, and Antonio made me feel very welcome. Nice location in Lygon Street, set back slightly from the main road, with easy access to the city centre with a tram stop just outside and restaurants and supermarket a short walk away.
The room was large with a double bed and en suite with shower as described. No shortage of hot water. The bathroom light bulb (globe in Australian) had blown, but I replaced it and Antonio refunded me. Some problems with the wifi - couldn't connect at all on the day I arrived - but he arrived the next morning to fix it.
Minor maintenance issues, e.g. the lightbulb, broken window blind in lounge, and some out of date food in fridge from previous guest. Overall a nice stay, good value, and a pleasant change from the hostel scene.
Very disappointed with this basic accommodation. It should be pointed out this is in East Brunswick and not that close to the CBD. The downstairs did not look anything like the photo. They obviously got a pretty good photographer. The tiny bedroom was so small and cramped and dominated by a bed with no headboard which moved when you were on it. There was a mirror which was just sitting against the wall. The bathroom was very basic and had one of those cheap shower attachments I have not seen since my student days and overall the worst place we have stayed in with airbnb. We booked for two nights and luckily left after one night and when I contacted the owner for one night refund he refused and was very sarcastic saying did we expect an hotel, a four poster bed and a spa bathroom. We did not expect a hotel but this was not a nice place to stay. Nearly spoiled our weekend but we managed to get another place. I will be contacting airbnb and see if we can get a refund. If we had seen this place we would never have booked it. Paying for this place before we saw it is a risk but I expected the owner to reimburse which he refused to do.
First, the host doesn't inform me on how to get into the house. Call him for more than 30 times & waited on downstairs for 3 hours, until late night 10pm then only we able to get into the house. Nearly going to book another room. The place wasn't obvious enough, it's on second floor without any lift. Second, always lack of hot water, no matter what time you go to bath. Overall, the place was clean and nice. If there wasn't any miscommunication on the arriving, then would be fine. However, the host wasn't that friendly as the comment stated. When I asked him whether the place is near to the tram station, he just replied me with "(website hidden) it.", which quite disappointed me.

Fabulous guest! Left apartment spotless, thanks :)
grande personaggio un piacere ospitarlo
It was nice to have Antonio and his partner to stay with us. They kept the apartment clean and tidy and they were very easy and to talk to. They even clean and bed sheets and left the room nice and presentable for other visitors. Ideal!!
